— Ace I hate advertising something on NBC, but Leno is not shying away.
Every other day I read about some joke he's made about Obama.
Even lame jokes, like this one, successfully relay information about Obama that most of the media suppresses.
Here's the thing about not-very-funny-jokes: A comic tells them because he feels he needs to address the issue, to comment on it. A good comic will tell a great joke even if it's against his political interest. But comics won't tell so-so jokes, unless the joke is important in other ways.
Seth Meyer's hideous Weekend Update is a very long running example of this: Half the "comedy" consists of jokes that aren't funny, but exist there to "inform" the audience about things Seth Meyer thinks they need to be thinkin' about.
Leno has some good jokes, and some so-so jokes, jokes he thinks he should tell because it's important. Like this one.
These are all from like a two week span. I could go on.
Jon Steward is wildly overpraised by liberals for, supposedly, being a truth-teller who speaks uncomfortable truths the media shies away from.
How about someone in the media acknowledge the supposedly boring, non-hip, non-edgy Jay Leno is doing that, and is actually exposing the truths the media reallyreallyreallyreally doesn't want to utter?
Meanwhile, this is funny: College Humor does a mock-up of what the media would look like if it were all run by Buzzfeed.

Transcript of one version of the phony baloney ad by Zuckerberg with my annotations included:
Male voice: Our immigration system is a joke, and the whole world knows it.
Female voice: Our border is unsecure, our laws are unenforced. We don't know who's here, what they're doing or even why.
That part is pure unadulterated pee-pee stroking.
Male voice: What we have now is a national security nightmare waiting to happen.
Female voice: But conservatives like Marco Rubio and Paul Ryan...
Male voice: ...they're working on plans to change that
/guffaw
Female voice: It all starts with real border security: more fencing, more manpower and high-tech surveillance.
My leg, it's been pulled clean off!
Male voice: Next, deport any illegal immigrant guilty of a serious crime. For the rest, no amnesty, period.
This is crap because we'll never have a clear definition of 'serious crime.' For the rest, no amnesty? Oh dear! That means they'll, what, they'll still be allowed to remain here anyway?
Female voice: If they have a job, if they pay a fine and if they learn English...
Male voice: ...they can go to the back of the line with no federal benefits. That means no welfare, no Obamacare -- nothing.
Wow, that's harsh! But, wait, you mean if they do comply they automatically qualify for all that social welfare? Why that's pretty damn conservative!
Female voice: It's a tough approach...
Male voice: ...and conservatives are working to make it tougher.
My. Ass.
Female voice: But it's fair and enforceable
Well, as long as it's fair. Fairness is important to a conservative like myself.
Male voice: And that's the opposite of what we have now.
It's crap.
Female voice: Call Congress. Tell them to fix our broken immigration system.
Blow me.
Paid for by Americans for a Conservative Direction.
Eat poop.

I bought an iPad in 2011, then an iPhone in October of that year when the 4S came out. I needed new laptop last year and bought a Mac. The old Dell came with Windows Vista. I had it changed to XP and then Windows 7. I continued to use old Dell laptop to work from home with.
It kept crashing and I was working from home a lot. I haven't figured out how to change keys on Mac to make F2 as edit key, etc. I have 13 inch Mac and it was the easiest computer ever to set up.
I forgot how difficult Windows is after the Mac. It sucks worse than most Windows with the exception of Vista. I refuse to load Google Chrome because they spy on you and you cannot use Safari on many sites. I only got Windows 8 because I was in a hurry. I should have held out and waited for Windows 7 to be built. The old Dell still works but crashes occasionally.
I bought the cheapest Dell I could buy. It cost $438 if not a little less.

Couple that with the DOJ alleged seminar where in I've heard that they are saying you can't say anything negative about a certain religion because it could be considered a federal offense and I'm wondering what happened to the First Amendment.

but the thing is that Jay Leno is in fact a California liberal. This has been well-established in previous interviews.
--------------
But he's smart enough (unlike the vast majority of other talk show hosts) to realize that at least 50% of his potential audience doesn't share his political views. As a result, he's got no problem with skewering both sides. I'm sure he likes it better when he gets to mock conservatives. But he doesn't let political affiliation stand in the way of a good joke.
I also suspect that the simple fact that he's willing to step back and look at both sides for political mockery also means that he's more aware of just how serious the IRS mess is, and the potential repercussions of it if it isn't nipped in the bud.

Considering the 'Jay Walking' segments and other jokes he's told over the years, that's somewhat odd.
Of course, maybe it's just odd to me that a liberal in a media position could actually try to be current and funny.
------------------
Leno was accused of being conservative a few years ago, since he was the only late-night host willing to mock the Obamessiah. And even then his mockery was pretty tame. In response, he revealed himself to be a liberal, but also indicated that he knows that at least half the country isn't. So from his perspective as a business person and showman, it makes sense to include political jokes from both right and left. He'll attract a bigger audience share that way.

And did you hear the defense that the "workplace violence" perpetrator is going to use at his trial? Defense of others. That's right, this tool is going to claim that he was entirely justified in gunning down 13 unarmed fellow U.S. soldiers, because he was protecting Islamofascist militants in Afghanistan who were being targeted by the U.S. military.
That's like if a U.S. soldier in Germany in WW II had shot down 13 of his fellow soldiers, then tried to defend himself by saying he was defending Hitler and his lieutenants from the U.S. Army! He'd have been court-martialed and executed as a traitor, and the same should have happened to Hasan.

The Tonight Show has always been a very reliable gauge of public opinion. Leno actually liked George W. Bush, but he knew when it was OK to start lampooning him because the audience laughed. And that's when I knew that we had no chance in the 2008 election. He waited a while to start skewering Mitt Romney too, and generally went harder after the nuttier people like Michele Bachman and Herman Cain.
He was Arnold's #1 supporter. Arnold actually announced he was running for Governor on The Tonight Show. Leno was at his victory party. So he isn't a hardcore California liberal.
Don't forget he has had both Barack and Michelle on his show a few times. I think he likes them too. He would not be joking about them if his audience wasn't laughing. This has nothing to do with him sticking a finger in the eye of NBC after they fired him. He is giving his audience what it wants. And that should encourage all of us.
Middle America has turned on Obama.

On the Comedy Couch web site, Leno talked about a comedian who appeared on his show:
"His opening line was, "I'm a liberal Democrat." And then he proceeded to bash Bush and he got exactly half the audience. And I said to him, "You know, we'll figure out if you're a Democrat. Just come out and do your jokes and let people draw their opinion based on what you say. If you have to tell them, if you have to hit them over the head with it, you're already going to piss off half your audience. If you say, 'I'm a liberal Democrat', you'll turn off half the audience; if you come out and said, 'I'm a conservative Republican', you'll piss off half the audience. But if you just come out and tell a joke, you'll get the whole audience." And it's true. That's my goal. We try to humiliate and degrade everybody equally."

That bit about the IRS is brutal because I don't think he's really joking.
