"Jesus Stomp" Professor on Leave, Becauce You Monsters Threatened Him
— Ace

That's right, he's not been suspended (as the student reporting him was) due to his lesson being almost deliberately crafted to have no legitimate purpose, but because, you see, the University cannot guarantee his safety with you bloodthirsty maniacs lurking about.

FAU instructor Deandre Poole, Ph.D., has been placed on administrative leave effective immediately for safety reasons. As a result of the reaction to a recent exercise in Dr. PooleÂ’s intercultural communications class, the instructorÂ’s personal safety has been compromised.

In addition, this decision will prevent further disruption to the day-to-day operations of Florida Atlantic University.

Sexton adds:

By suggesting that Poole is on leave for his own safety, the school manages to get rid of him while simultaneously making him the victim.

I think that's part of it but not all of it. Being the aggrieved party is only half of the equation; the equation still needs a Designated Villain. Which means you. As usual.

I don't think an argument about the lesson itself would turn out so well for the professor or the local school. The activity seems narrowly crafted to teach only one slender cohort of the populace something about giving up their symbols.

Instead, they resort to what I'm calling the political collateral attack: changing the topic from the terms of actual debate (where they'd lose) to something they're more comfortable arguing. To wit, how awful and monstrous and violent and irrational these right-wing maniacs are, as a personal matter.

Rather than discuss the issue as educated adults with good-faith intents discuss things, they always return to the primitive urge inborn in us, and practiced first as children: Just calling their opponents names.

Hah! mama winger--

I don't get it. The safest place for him to be would be on the college campus. It's a gun free zone, isn't it?

Funny that.

5 Reasonable people can have reasonable discussions.

But if you disagree with the dominant, left-wing paradigm, you are, by definition, unreasonable.

All of their political theater flows from this assumption.

And it works!

The left bends over backwards to paint Islam as the ROP. It is the West's formative religions that are evil.

They see Islam as anti-imperialist, anti-capitalist, anti-Western, so in their warped world view, Islam is a good thing, and part of the narrative.

I understand that, but as Jesus is not in physical form at this time, writing his name is invoking the spirit of him, therefore requesting his presence, so stomping on his name requesting his presence is similar to stomping on him, is it not?

103 How about Buddha?   Would this professor have ever offered his students the chance to stomp on an image of the Buddha?     Or how about any of the Hindu gods  -   Vishnu or Lakshmi or Shiva?      Why do I suspect that the students would have had a hard time stomping on THOSE images because they recognize that those are representations of the holy beliefs of millions of people.    But Jesus?  Oh, sure, stomp all over Jesus, because Christians are evil patriarchal colonialist brigands.

I think the answer to that is, "When/if God explicitly tells us to."  It doesn't seem to be his SOP since Jesus arrived on the scene.

Although I would be ALL for it.

One thing I think Christians forget, speaking for myself, is that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit "WANT" us, but don't "NEED" us. God can defend himself without our help, just fine.

He has only been kind enough to include us in His "program", which of course involves showing loving kindness, and inviting as many as we can to spend eternity with Him.

Now everybody, GET OFF MY LAWN.

153 Isn't the student still facing some kind of disciplinary action for allegedly threatening the instructor? From what I can tell FAU is covering themselves in all kinds of glory in this situation. Also, I'm pretty sure I didn't know the instructor's name until now. Good job, FAU! It's so unsafe we'll just publicize the hell out of it! I'll repeat what I said on this earlier, I see some utility in writing the name of a deity on a piece of paper and holding it up and saying "If I stepped on this, would you be angry and, if so, why?" Hell, put a Yankees pennant on the floor, ask people if they want to step on it. After the class is finished jumping up and down, put down a Cubs or a Red Sox or a Braves pennant and ask them to do the same thing. When they get pissed, ask why. Exact same lesson, far less blasphemy. I completely and utterly agree that there's no way in hell that Allah was getting written on whatever would be stomped upon.

We should not worry too much at this little debacle.  (o.O ) This is but the beginning of offenses.  Whatever compensation the student does or does not receive here on Earth is a pittance compared to what they have gained.

In a different light, the student was actually blessed with an opportunity to defy the zeitgeist of this evil world and stay true to Christ.  Perhaps, in a moment of reflection, the student might actually crack a grin at that realization.

A toast to the young man or woman in question.  May they show the same strength the next time they are challenged, and the time after that, as well!

They were purposefully insulting and then were shocked that people insulted them back.  Don't you unwashed heathens know that college professors are not on the official list of who is to be mocked, derided, castigated made to feel unwelcome?  How DARE you turn the tables!

With the Obama Administration supporting the final treaty draft, the General Assembly vote was 154 to 3, with 23 abstentions.

American gun rights activists, though, insist the treaty is riddled with loopholes and is unworkable in part because it includes “small arms and light weapons” in its list of weaponry subject to international regulations. They do not trust  U.N  assertions that the pact is meant to regulate only cross-border trade and would have no impact on domestic U.S. laws and markets.

As I said above, not every lesson requires an explicit in your face demonstration.  Hell, a discussion about flag burning (without the actual burning of the flag) would have pretty much accomplished the same thing.  If you're so stupid you can't understand the point in question without feeling it for yourself, you're a moron who doesn't belong in college.

297 "IÂ’m glad IÂ’ve been promoted Scientist-in-Chief," Kill me now. Kill me fucking now. Obama said to laughter at the White House. I think even the sycophants were laughing AT him this time. I'm willing to bet $10,000 he didn't take "physics with calculus" which is physics. I'm willing to bet $1,000 that he didn't even take "physics without calculus" (which is NOT physics) in college. If he took any physics at all, it was a high school course. And yes, I'd LOVE to know what grade he got in it. Second, and this is what really pisses me off, he admits to being totally incompetent in the hard sciences and somehow he's still "intelligent". How the fuck does that work? Ain't nobody, NOBODY, in physics or math or computer science or electrical engineering saying, "Whew, I'm glad I didn't have to take that PoliSci course, why that would have pulled down my GPA." How is it that these people can admit to being imbeciles in a major field of study and somehow people don't say, "Uh, doesn't that make him a drooling moron?" But I hold science in proper esteem, so maybe that gives me a little credit." So he treats science as if it were the mystic arts -- as if it were alchemy -- and now he's to be given "credit" for this. "Science" means something, as we're starting to discover from climatology. There's a method involved. It's called...something.

Bullshit.  A 10 year old gets this.  A 10 year old can tell you that some words are more hurtful when directed in a specific way.

Now if you need to start a class with this basic information I get that.  Sometimes to start discussion you start from a commonly accepted (and known) idea.  You state the obvious, as seed of discussion.
But the actions what a load of crock, that's just being in your face with the intent of generating controversy because you're a crappy teacher who can't start a discussion without enraging people first.

The scary part of this story is that it probably didn't take a meeting, or a phone call, or anything else coordinated to frame this fuckstick professor as the victim.

Liberals seems to know how to do this at birth.  It's organic to them.  Framing themselves as victims and republicans as the monster oppressors of the downtrodden is as natural as breathing to the left.

Unless and until we figure out how to match them at this game, fearlessly (knowing whatever we say will be framed as racist) and shamelessly (being as willing as they are to construct straw men of cosmic proportions), we will lose in the court of public opinion.

350 339 Paul Ryan's media people are in Boston casting a commercial of some sort. I've been invited. Maybe this is my ticket to Washington hackdom?

351 Communications is what you take if you need to learn how to ask people in a language/culture independent manner if they want to SuperSize their order.

352 Why is it that these people attribute the behavior of Christians to Muslims and the behavior of Muslims to Christians?

353 Man -- major shifting narrative alert.  First the student threatened him, now we threaten him.  (With what?  A spotlight on his big bias?)  Next up:  His class was HACKED!!!111!!!

354 Now, if he'd made students draw a cartoon of moohammed chasing a goat or a dog, I'd believe he was in danger, and would probably attract danger to the campus.

355 All the prof has to do is tell all his students to write the name "Mohammed" and then stomp on it and we'll welcome him back with open arms.

356 This would be an insensitive moment to bring up all the teachers and students Islam is actually killing in Thailand, Africa and Indonesia, wouldn't it.  Because I'm just that gauche.

357 well what with all the school shootings we read about it really isn't that surprising. The student was suspended for threatening.

358 And Poole said that Rotella threatened him > Perhaps ace you might post apic of this student. The one I saw made him look like a skin head or gang banger. I never knew young mormons went for that hair style. The ones who knock on my door as missionaries never look like taht

"In addition, this decision will prevent further disruption to the day-to-day operations of Florida Atlantic University."

360 And yet the education graduates of this school are not encouraged to distinguish a half eaten pop tart from a gun.

361 I think the young guy who objected and was subsequently booted out of the class should have written "Barack Hussein Obama" on the paper instead, and then stomped on it.   Or "mohammed PBUH" and stomped on it.  Or, better yet, do them both........................then wipe his ass with it, or wipe his ass first then stomp on it.......

362 The Jesus Stomp teacher needs an adult in his class who can ask questions like " Do you honestly expect me to pay $800 for three months of this lame brain dead shit ? You are a teacher not a rock star or a cheer leader. Act like one. I will not walk across coals to impress you. I am a customer. I am paying for this. So, EARN YOUR DAMNED MONEY or I will find someone who WILL. "

363 Of course if he stomped on a Koran he'd be fine. It's those bloodthirsty bellicose Christians you have to watch out for.
