John Corzine Off The Hook
— Pixy Misa

After 18 months of investigation, the criminal probe against Jon Corzine has been dropped. He will not be facing criminal charges for the misuse of investors' funds at MF Global. Civil charges have been filed against Corzine.

The Justice Department’s decision to drop the case is sure to come as a relief to Corzine, who has been widely blamed for MFG’s bankruptcy — as well as the misuse of some $1.6 billion in customers’ funds.

Last week, Corzine was hit with civil charges by the Commodities Futures Trading Commission in connection with the illegal tapping of the funds, which were improperly co-mingled with the MFGÂ’s house money in the firmÂ’s final days.

The regulator also charged Edith OÂ’Brien, MFGÂ’s former assistant treasurer, for carrying out the illegal transfers in a desperate bid to keep the troubled company afloat.

Both Corzine and OÂ’Brien have denied the allegations.

Criminal investigators, including federal prosecutors and the FBI, have been probing the breach since shortly after it was uncovered with its Halloween 2011 bankruptcy.

*Minor correction made to this article. Apparently Corzine spells his first name without an "H" like Jon Huntsman.

What is "shameful" and "outrageous" to us - is a smiling victory to the Democrats / media complex.

This ia all because of low-level underlings doing what they always do, their incompetence should not reflect upon our betters who rightfully make millions from their efforts, and whose reputations should remain unsullied by aspersions cast upon them by people who make much less money than they do, and therefore cannot donate as much to Democrats.

Ask Nakoula about their regard for the first amendment. And yes it was a parole violation - of course his parole required him to check into a government web site while staying off the Internet.

That parole was kind of like exiting from a Freeway in Texas; the minimum speed on the Freeway is 45, the maximum speed on an exit ramp is 35.

True. It must be borne in mind that Martin was on private property.  Even if a sworn officer had 'ordered' Zimmerman not follow or speak to the guy, they would have had no authority to do so. I rather doubt they would have that authority even on public property.

What the dispatcher said is of no bearing whatsoever.

Posted by: Mike Hammer at July 08, 2013 08:19 AM (aDwsi)

220 Any chance that after this trial Zimmerman has to shoot another person in self defense and we have to repeat this fking process again? Pretty good one. It's Neighborhood Watch. Not Neighborhood pursuit and engage. You're either missing (or ignoring) two important facts. 1) When told "We don't need you to do that" he stopped following. He stayed in the approximate area where he was, and checked house numbers (really apartment numbers, based on the images I've seen of the "neighborhood") to help guide police to the correct location. 2) There's pretty good evidence that Martin got all the way home (or at least got away "clean") and then returned to start the confrontation. So- thinking he would be helping the cops, he got out of his truck to see where the suspicious person had gone. When told not to- he stopped. The only argument you can make is that he shouldn't have gotten out of the car at all ("Don't Engage!!!") which is ridiculous. Certainly it did turn out badly, but there's no reason (beforehand) that he should have assumed it would. The only one guilty of "bad judgement" here is dead.

I comment on this and a few other blogs to feed my inner political junkie, sharpen my reasoning skills, clarify my beliefs, and to put my ideas to the test. I don't buck the majority to play contrarian. Let the Devil be his own advocate. 223 First off, if you decide to be on the neighborhood watch, I'm pretty sure you can do whatever you want to do within the law. Just because you go to some class, and listen to a cop tell you "how" you should act, that is only advice. For instance, if at the class I was told that I shouldn't bring a concealed weapon, my answer would be, "but I will, because I can". If the teacher doesn't like that answer, too bad.

Considering that you repeatedly have stated the facts wrong in the case during these "reasoned debates," it's not shocking that you don't think you've been proven wrong, as if you would ever admit it anyway. You're obviously free to think whatever you want about this case, but you're the one who should be called "supposedly conservative." After all, you came to a conclusion about the case without even knowing all the facts and have since then stuck to the same opinion of the case even though you've had to concede much of what you knew about it was simply wrong.

People have overanalyzed this case to death but it's pretty obvious that Zimmerman didn't target Trayvon to inflict bodily harm on him but targeted Trayvon because he was acting suspicious enough in an area that had experienced robberies. It's also obvious that Trayvon was the clear aggressor in regards to the physical confrontation and Trayvon caused injuries to Zimmerman that were serious enough to warrant Zimmerman's response, especially considering Zimmerman was legally carrying a firearm that easily could have ended up in Trayvon's hands. Any doubt what Trayvon would've done if he had been able to get control of the gun? I think we all know what he would've done based on his past behavior and how he reacted to the "egregious" act committed by Zimmerman, who was simply monitoring the community as a member of the Neighborhood Watch. I truly wonder what your opinion of this case would've been if Zimmerman had been shot to death by Trayvon.

Posted by: JackStraw at July 08, 2013 12:41 PM (g1DWB)

Yes, after Martin called his girlfriend from his own backyard, told her he was going to harm Zimmerman, and headed back to the cul de sac where he had last ditched Zimmerman, it could be justifiably concluded that Martin began stalking Zimmerman at that point. Martin's sudden assault of Zimmerman was a serious crime. If I was physically confronted by someone under those circumstances, a guy straddling me and pounding my head into the pavement, I believe I would have ample cause to think my life was in danger and act accordingly.

However, my point is that Zimmerman had little or no cause to begin following Martin in the first place. Martin was walking home from a convenience store, a tall black male wearing a hoodie.  Martin began acting suspiciously--and this is according to Zimmerman--when Martin noticed Zimmerman watching him. Under those circumstances, if watched and then followed by a stranger whom I had ascertained was almost certainly not a police officer (as Martin did when he initially disappeared from Zimmerman's sight, looped around and came up from behind Zimmerman's then-parked car), I would act suspiciously too, if by 'acting suspiciously' you mean become spooked and wary. So would you. So would just about anyone. Thus, to me, it seems that each man misunderstood the other's intentions and motivations, and it escalated from there. It would be comic if it weren't so tragic.

No, but my reaction isn't to go back to confront them and start beating the crap out of them when I don't even know who they are. He didn't even wait for Zimmerman to tell me that he was a member of Neighborhood Watch before punching him in the face. What is it going to take you to admit that Trayvon's rash actions were the primary reason for his demise? Plus, you conveniently ignore the fact that according to Zimmerman at the time he was following Trayvon, Trayvon was milling around in the rain looking like he was casing various apartments. The whole event was likely all a big misunderstanding by both parties, but punching an armed Neighborhood Watch member is pretty much the worst response to the situation.

OK, I'm going to say this one more time, as you keep referring to the place Trayvon was staying at when he was shot as "his home" or some other similar term. He did NOT live there. He was at his father's girlfriend's home. Look it up on the Internet if you need proof. That detail is somewhat important because it can show that Zimmerman would likely have not seen Trayvon in the community previously and thus, to him, he was a stranger, not a resident. Once again, TRAYVON DID NOT LIVE THERE! Would you please stop pretending that Trayvon lived there? I've corrected you multiple times on this issue and you continue to keep posting it. This is why many of us don't take you seriously when you discuss this case. Even now, you don't really know all the evidence or the facts.
