I wish they had not chosen to divide it into paragraphs; more accurate would have been to have just presented a Wall of Words.

Carney's answer is this, in short: You will have the option of picking a new plan which may include your doctor... if you pay for "more comprehensive coverage," which will have "broader networks." So if you can get past the sticker shock of the Bronze Plan, and past the even greater sticker shock of the Silver Plan, and finally check out the comprehensive coverage of the Gold Plan, which is fantastically expensive, sure, you can find a network that includes your doctor.

Sure.

Incidentally, Jay Carney uses the bullying tactic he's used with Jonathan Karl before. The tactic consists of suggesting all the other reporters are mad at Jonathan Karl for asking dumb questions, so why don't you just shut up?

He's done this before, telling Karl something like "you can hear sighs of exasperation from the other reporters because they get this," in explaining another, get this, Obama lie.

Now he says "Jon, I think everyone here understands how private insurance works," again attempting to rally Liberal Reporter Peer Pressure to get Karl to stop asking impertinent, irrelevant questions like "Did the president lie to the American public?"

So if we want to keep our doctor, well fuck us we're paying over $1000/month for a PPO with a 5K deductible. But it's not like continuity of care is an important thing with a progressive autoimmune disease or anything.

What is the first thing you learn about Obamacare from your friends with the same disease at the patient support forum? It is that those hospitals and doctors who know about your condition _are not in network_ for the Obamacare exchange plans. Not for the bronze plan, and sometimes not even for the gold or platinum plan. Completely off the table. No UCLA. No Cedars-Sinai. You might get in to a nothing hospital like Possum Creek Regional Medical Center if you're lucky.

But hey presto, guess what? You know who does have unquestioned access to those same prestigious A-rated medical centers?

MEDICAID PATIENTS. (Or here in Commiefornia, Medi-Cal, which is our local spin on Medicaid.)

How long do you think it takes people with tough illnesses to figure out that they need to feed the Web site carefully selected low numbers for income, in order to get onto Medicaid and keep the access which they prefer? I figure it took them about ten nanoseconds.

That is likely one reason why the Medicaid enrollments via the Web site have radically blown through all predictions and expectations.

The last time I had to deal with an out of network doctor situation, I asked the doc's patient scheduler if they offered a discount for cash if negotiated up front.

Her exact words were, "Are you kidding? We LOVE people like you. We ADORE people like you. Do you have any idea how long we have to wait for the carriers to pay us? How much expensive paperwork we have to file? And how little they actually do pay us when they do get around to it?"

208 I forgot that the video tends to lag behind real time. The Ustream video was a good 30 seconds late, if not more. I went outside and expected to see the vehicle rise from behind the nearby trees and houses (as I did during the LADEE launch), but it was already well up by the time I got outside. I saw some of the second stage and all of the third stage. I saw two bright objects separate during the third stage burn. That may have been the payload fairing. All in all, an exciting launch and a beautiful sight.

If you have to have a gun pointed at you, sideways is best, as it is an indicator of someone who doesn't know much about guns. Perhaps they left the safety on, or in one famous recent photo, loaded the magazine the wrong way round.

But I am always very very skeptical about proposals to respond to being held at gunpoint with martial arts. I've got my time in grade in both areas. I would try to get physical with someone who had the drop on me with a pistol only in rare cases. Even if they were holding it sideways.

Most of the rest of the time, my response would be "Here's the wallet, here are the keys, have a nice day." While berating myself for having been so stupid as to get taken unawares. That tactic might still get me shot, but I judge it will do so less frequently than trying a disarm would.

Nixon was impeached at the insistence of Democrats, in part due to allegations that he had misused the IRS as a political weapon. There wasn't proof he had done so. The mere allegation was considered sufficient for an article of impeachment. With the understanding that the question of proof would be taken up during the Senate trial after impeachment.

Why would the identical allegation against Obama not merit the identical response?

What people (mostly white suburbanites) seem to mean by it is parents who don't exercise any oversight over their kids. Who don't know where the kids are or what they're doing.

I lived for a while with my folks when I was out of college. $50 a month. (This was early '80's) But yeah,I chafed at the whole "you're under our roof you live under our rules" business, although they were certainly within their rights to say that (I know that now). It's tough to do that when you consider yourself an adult. Plus, it depressed the hell out of me to be sleeping in my childhood bedroom. So I was out as soon as I could find a job which could cover the rent.

The ones living at home now until they're 26,27,30 and don't seem to mind - that baffles me. Of course, many boomer parents now let significant others sleep over, which never, ever would have happened in my parent's house - the guy would have been strung up by his cojones. So if you can live at home for cheap, still have mom's cooking and access to the washer/drier, rec room etc. AND get laid or smoke dope or whatever - well, yeah, I guess that changes the equation.

It would have felt creepy, screwing around in my old childhood bedroom, with my Nancy Drew books still in the bookcase and my parents in the room next to mine. Talk about a libido killer.
