— Open Blogger

Open Thread! Let the wild rumpus begin!

Did y'all see Dallas almost choke? They can't even choke right. They were on their way to yet another epic choke, then they choked on their choke, so they didn't choke.

Yes, I've noticed that too. It's the way Chrissie Mathews looks at Obama. Aikman could say, offhandedly, "Wow, that was a great play and oh, BTW, Joe, I'm expecting a BJ from you after the game" and it would make Buck's night.

I'm still mad about being cut by the Patriots.  I went to summer camp, performed well, and thought I would be offered a contract.

But nooooooo!  The coach said I performed linebacker duties well with great speed, but he believes I have slow hands.  This is very upsetting because I've always prided myself with good racket and ball control.

This was my third time to try out, with the first two with the Dolphins.  So after three attempts to join the NFL, the handwriting is on the wall.

I will remain even tempered, and provide a lot of goodwill for the opportunity, but in the end, all those arrogant sum'bitches can just go fuck themselves.

As it should be, Buffalo and GreenBay need the honor as well.

Posted by: Jean at November 24, 2013 05:56 PM (CMlD4)

225 I understand having the 'honor', but am NOT in favor of handing out 'participation ribbons' so that the game that supposedly showcases the top 2 teams can be played under crippling weather conditions. Yes, football plays in inclement weather. I get that. Fog, rain, snow, etc. But do you really think people are going to be glued to Super Bowl being played like the game that is being played right now? Is this a true measure of the ability of either team? Why, yes it is. If you are basing everything on who knows how to handle frozen things and the luck of the fumble bounce. And I'm a big Peyton Manning fan. But this isn't any sort of Manning/Brady showdown. And for the NFL to seek out bad weather for it's biggest game is folly.

Posted by: dwagyak at November 24, 2013 06:16 PM (Xg5nt)

226 As it should be, Buffalo and GreenBay need the honor as well.

Not enough Vegas-style strip clubs or five-diamond hotels for the rich people who come in for "the experience."  That's why the Jax SB was a bust, and why they prefer Miami/New Orleans.  Unless TV has been lying to me for forty years, NY/NJ will just fine.

Indy lost their first bid b/c they didn't have enough high-end sleaze or luxurious accommodations  Once the JW Marriot and a couple "art hotels" got built and they had good plans to turn public spaces into temporary clubs for private celeb parties (the baseball diamond trucked in sand for a bikini beach party), they won the bid.

Posted by: HeatherRadish™ at November 24, 2013 06:18 PM (hO8IJ)

227 And for the NFL to seek out bad weather for it's biggest game is folly.

They can play the game anywhere, and the fans of the teams will show up and watch.

It's not the fans of the teams they want flying in for the weekend.

231 "They can play the game anywhere, and the fans of the teams will show up and watch." Oh, absolutely. That's a given. But the NFL is less and less concerned with catering to who is there in person and VERY concerned/conscious about it's TV product. And all the Super Bowl run-up stuff will be just fine. But I don't know how many non-fans-of-whoevers-teams-are-involved are going to be glued to watching a game on TV where the weather is so obviously crippling the usual abilities of the teams. I see lots of TV homes/casual football fans watching the first quarter/first half and turning to something else (maybe checking in for a minute later on). I'm sitting here feeling cheated that I can't watch Peyton and Tom go at it. But I know that can happen during regular season scheduling. But I will remain mystified that the NFL wants to start cold-weather-probable open air Super Bowl sites. But we shall find out!

Posted by: dwagyak at November 24, 2013 06:43 PM (Xg5nt)

232 And, on cue, NE has comeback to take the lead. Well, there's playing in 'cold' and playing in 'frozen' - looks like Tom has the 'frozen' option thing figured out. Rats.

Posted by: dwagyak at November 24, 2013 07:10 PM (Xg5nt)

238 I've been watching. That second half got very interesting. My dad is glued to the screen right now.

239 Brady fans know better - Pats are never out of it until the game is over! Pats win in overtime. Love Edelman, Gronk, the kicking game, the defense and TOM BRADY!!!!!! Too bad morons went to bed.

241 The morning tears of all the Patriot haters who went to sleep last night at halftime snug and secure in their taunts taste sweet to me like nectar of the gods.
