Laugh At These Losers
— JohnE.

A bunch of Toronto Maple Leafs fans videotaped themselves watching Game 7 of the Leafs vs. Bruins game on Monday.

It turned out to be a brutal cock-puncher of a game. Pretty funny. Don't feel bad laughing at them. They're probably all Canadian.

87 About 20 years ago our local rag did a piece about all the things that were more likely to happen than winning the lottery and, at that time, we only had a state lottery with odds of about 1 in 14M. There were things like: Being on a plane that is struck by lightning... twice. Dying in a plane crash. Dying in a plane crash following a double lightning strike. Giving birth to three sets of fraternal twins. Giving birth to three sets of fraternal twins with no genetic predisposition to multiple births. It was ridiculous. After a while they were just combining crazy things and the odds were still better than those of winning the lottery. The Powerball odds, by comparison, are 1 in 176M.

Speaking of Canadian things...

I usually don't get incensed over the Canadian film productions.

But this time they have gone too fucking far...

"DaVinci's Demons"...is a new series being aired on Starz.

They are going completely off the rails, depicting Leonardo DaVinci as a 'bicurious metrosexual' in search of his long lost Mother, who was supposedly a member of the ancient cult of Mithras.

In this last episode...they have DaVinci traveling to meet Count Dracula, to track down more clues to finding his mother.

115 O/T from GretaWire Statement of the lawyer (Celia Roady) who asked IRS Lois Lerner the "planted question" -the question was asked on May 10 at the ABA conference - “On May 9, I received a call from Lois Lerner, who told me that she wanted to address an issue after her prepared remarks … and asked if I would pose a question to her after her remarks. I agreed to do so.…We had no discussion thereafter on the topic of the question, nor had we spoken about any of this before I received her call. She did not tell me, and I did not know, how she would answer the question.” ---------- This is either the mother of all squirrels or the IRS subverting the administration or an overt warning about critiquing ACA and other aspects of this government. Or something else altogether.

It's way worse than just "targeting".

Calling it "targeting" is too mild, and implies that it was just a case of 'tag you're it', or something.

What they were doing, is...Persecution.

They weaponized the IRS and used it to bludgeon people for their political views.

They've done the same thing with other government agencies, like the EPA and the NLRB.

And because it was Persecution to win an Election...it is Election Tampering.

It's a video game, right?

This series, 'DaVinci's Demons' is a glossy production that makes no disclaimer of being "an interpretation" of history...or a "creative fantasy" based on history.

The singlet was a mistake by wrestling. It does look too gay. The singlet is only 50 years old or so. Oddly enough, I've read that they moved to it because people though dudes wrestling bare chested was too gay. The singlet was apparently an attempt to reduce the gayness of wrestling. The singlet also looks horrible on women. Not form flattering.

East asians have proven many times they can produce elite baseball talent. Not so much with sports like basketball. Yao Ming was more a science experiment than anything else.

Great thing about soccer, in pure marketing terms ...

... is that it doesn't take any skill whatever to play and have fun. Sure, it takes lots of skill to play well, but packs of six year olds can run around a field kicking furiously at the ball and have fun. That fuels its popularity by letting lots of people get involved.

By contrast, the American sports (baseball, basketball, and football), are like tennis in that they're not much fun to play until and unless you achieve a certain level of skill. If you can't throw, hit, or catch a ball, baseball is boring. If you can't shoot, basketball is boring. If you can't throw a spiral, and lead a receiver, football (touch) is boring (since effectively there's no running game in touch). If you can't serve and/or return service consistently, tennis is boring.

That, and introduce mud maybe.

The singlet was a mistake by wrestling. It does look too gay. The singlet is only 50 years old or so.
Oddly enough, I've read that they moved to it because people though dudes wrestling bare chested was too gay. The singlet was apparently an attempt to reduce the gayness of wrestling
.

But in the original Olympics, contestants (?) wrestled buck naked. Only San Francisco keeps the flame alive by continuing this proud tradition.

295 Wrestling's not my thing, but I think it's terrible that it's been dumped from the Olympics. It just seems so odd to me - it's one of the quintessentially Olympic sports. Also, I've known a lot of students in H.S. and college who were involved in wrestling. The collegiate ones, in particular, seem like great kids. I hate to see them miss on a chance for them to attempt to compete in the Olympics.

297 Wrestling is great for kids. It teaches hard work. Really, really hard work. Gruelingly difficult hard work. I'm not a big fan of the weight cutting. I think that's not healthy for a growing kid. Wrestling has worked hard to cut back on it. But it's such a huge advantage if somebody is good at cutting weight. Impossible to totally eliminate it.

Wrestling's not my thing

Me either. Beside having exactly the wrong build for it - long and lanky - I always hated it in gym. Spending time grappling and grunting with a sweaty person of the same sex, with your nose jammed in his armpit half the time ... I dunno, somehow the charm escaped me.

Posted by: Jay Guevara at May 18, 2013 04:15 PM (IDSI7)

308 Wrestling is great for real world fights. Most real fights go to the ground quick. Like almost immediately. A few wild swings and then down they go. In UFC wrestling is considered the base discipline (or another grappling art like BJJ - Brazilian Jiu-jitsu). A wrestler who's bad at striking can still beat a boxer. A boxer/striker who's bad at wrestling will get his ass handed to him by a wrestler.

316 The Tsarnaev brothers are emblematic of the divided loyalties of our times—and they are not the only ones. Faisal Shahzad, a Pakistani national, is a naturalized U.S. citizen who lived the American dream: He arrived on a student visa, married an American citizen, graduated from college, worked his way up the corporate ladder to become a junior financial analyst for a cosmetics company in Connecticut, became a naturalized citizen at the age of 30 and then, a year later, in 2010, tried to blow up as many of his fellow citizens as possible in a failed car bombing in New York's Times Square.

Prior to sentencing, the judge asked Mr. Shahzad about the oath of allegiance he had taken, in which he did "absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen." The defendant replied: "I sweared [sic], but I didn't mean it." He then expressed his regret about the failure of his plot and added that he would gladly have sacrificed a thousand lives in the service of Allah. He concluded by predicting the downfall of his new homeland.

317 It doesn't help True the Vote that as much as people talk about voter ID, most of the right does a remarkable Sgt. Schultz impression when it comes to vote fraud. Kind of how I know we're doomed, I mean, if no more than a few can be bothered to deal with fraudulent votes... It's always "that was the last election, it won't do any good, it's not that big a deal (felony motherfucker), my toe hurts, my back hurts, I have to wash my hair, etc." If nothing serious is done about the IRS (and EPA and DOJ), well, I guess that's the end of that. I have no idea what I'll do, I don't really have anywhere to go and I'm not good enough at keeping my mouth shut to avoid targeting, since they'll be allowed to commit political persecution.

I probably missed the Angelina Jolie discussion last week whereby she lobbed off her boobs as a preventative measure. But, I just want to say that I don't find her move "courageous" or "brave" I find it to be a travesty. She has the money for the best medical care and good reconstructive surgery etc. The gullible will be tempted to follow her lead, but a double mastectomy isn't a simple surgery and the recovery can be brutal. My mother had cancer and had that surgery and ended up with a bad infection, not to mention she lost the full range of motion in one of her arms. I think Angelina Jolie is going to be responsible for many preventable deaths, just like Jenny McCarthy.

Jolie is a celebrity. Her life is much much different from normal women. As PGIS sorta said above, it's foolish to emulate her. Whether or not she made the right decision for herself is irrelevant to 'normal' women.

Why do you think Anglenia Jolie went very public with this, anyway? It was part of a campaing. She's helping sell Obamacare's pre-emptive elective surgery. We'll see how much you like Jolie when you realize you're paying for all kinds of elective surgery and all kinds of radical abortions and of course sex changes, even for prisoners.

I watched my mother have her other breast removed "preventatively" so no lymph nodes removed, and you know what, the one that had cancer, no problem she recovered on that side fine. The side that was removed "preventatively" ened up infected, she went through 2 months of misery fighting off the infection. And almost a year later she still cannot raise her arm above her her shoulder on that side. Yeah that "preventative" surgery is no big deal is it?

Why would she be going all over news media and discussing this, unless it were to encourage other women to follow her path. There is an agenda here. I'm sorry for the loss of her mother, but being genetically pre-disposed doesn't mean she will get it, and breast cancer isn't the death sentence it used to be.

470 And, I found a libtard site which claims the Wall of Doom stuff was perfectly justified. They support voter id, you see, which is making people jump through hoops. So all that happened was merely payback in kind. Multiple IRS audits + FBI investigations + BATF investigations + OHSA investigations + lawsuits from the DNC and ACORN + State of Texas investigations = advocating voter id. Ah, the sick mind of a progtard!

472 Thanks to the commenters above I checked out the story of what was going on at True The Vote. They got hit with everything. Full on. IRS, OHSA, FBI, ATF, lawsuits from the Democrat Party, lawsuits from ACORN-affiliated groups, and also an agency from the State of Texas. All with in a matter of months. The entire cascading Wall of Doom crashed on them when they filed with the IRS. Yeah, just a couple knuckleheads in Cincy did it. Nobody in the administration knew. One of those things! *** I tweeted a series of tweets earlier today saying that I believe this IRS bullshit isn't the real action, it's only the message. If they can frighten folks they can silence them. Who the hell will continue to speak out against Obamacare when they are worried about the health of their elderly parents or when their child is awaiting surgery?

478 I just cant muster any ill feelings toward Jolie over this. I diubt I could do what she did, even with her genetics. The tabloids had already been speculating about what was up. And her BOOBS are a bfd because of what the entertainment consumers care about. She decided that she might save lives by educating women about the genetic test for her family's type of cancer. Whether or not she will isn't really that important to me.

482 Oops.  Sorry.  Jolie kind of weird and I don't like her.  But while I'm really sorry your mom had complications I think the mastectomy decision is the right one to make if you have an 85% chance of contracting a vigorous form of cancer by hanging onto your boobs.    And I doubt it its something Obamacare is *forcing* on insurance companies.   Surgery is spendy but I bet it pales in comparison to chemotherapy drugs and 85%  chance they'll have to pay for surgery + chemo for woman with that rare cancer gene  -- pretty sure the insurance company is saying "OH no problem, we will cover surgery"

I have to laugh at Wyoming.  After years of trying, the Wyoming legislature finally passed a law allowing the State to join multi-state lottos.  A legislator was beaming with pride that they had found a Wyoming solution to the controversial issue.

The pro side was happy that they got the go ahead.  The anti side was happy because they didn't authorize any funds to set up an organization to run it.

539 Where did privacy go? When did it become common for people to share intimate details about their health with total strangers? I guess it's all part of the Oprah culture. No reticence. Is there always an ulterior motive for all this public disclosure about what used to be private things? They say they want to help others who may have the same problem, blah, blah, blah. Maybe so. Some may actually believe they're helping. Then again, some may just like talking about themselves and being the center of attention. I prefer the days when people didn't talk to strangers about their sex lives, their colonoscopies, and their mean mommies. I don't know what Angelina Jolie's agenda is. The subject was the IRS.  In 1 minute he brought up everything from, Bush's illegal war, to the Koch brothers, to Romney taxes to corporations not paying enough tax.

As soon as I hear that I switch over to "insult and demean" mode.

We have the highest corporate taxes in the developed world.

570 PaleRider I think her breast cancer risk was in the 80s and the ovarian was in the 40s. She's got her family and not all that young, so to me tge ovaries are not a biggy. The thing that strikes me is that her options are naturally much greater than an avg womans in terms of the nipple saving and recinstructive surgeries. So its sad to think of the women who will face this and not have those options.

He was one lefty cliche after another....I could barely keep up.  Janine Periro kept yelling, 'That the law.  They're not doing anything illegal!!!'  But he just kept on his lefty merry way.

583 Thanks Y-not.  I didn't realize the ovarian cancer odds were that high.  I don't know why but I thought it was more like 5%.   My sis had a mastectomy and went ahead and did the reconstruction.   It was a weeks long process to do the reconstruction but it was not so costly that only a movie star could afford it.  Maybe sis's insurance covered part of it.

213I can't laugh at these Canucks. That hellish zone they were in, I been there. You lucky if you ain't been there. Teased along on the cusp of greatness, only to be denied. And it ain't even your own greatness, just your damn team's glory, and you still cain't even get that. Can't buy a break. Pathetic, and it sucks. 590 I feel bad for these guys (as a long-suffering Cleveland Indians fan, I can relate). I actually think they were more reserved than I would have been (then again, they were in a big group, and there was a girl there). I enjoyed watching them celebrate when they went ahead 3-1 and 4-1, but I couldn't laugh at them during their collapse. It was just sad.

591 Leafs fans are even more pathetic than Canucks fans. Okay, maybe not. But they're still pathetic. I mean come on. 1967.
