7 Carson said in his speech Saturday that the appearance earned him racially tinged e-mails from supporters of the president who said: “How dare you insult my president? You are an n-word.” Noticed this earlier today in another thread. Carson has been subject to Neblett's ni**erifcation.

Yep...it's fear.

From the WaPo text:

Carson has also been talked up as a potential candidate for some other office in his home state, Maryland. But the state remains very Democratic.

No...not 'Democratic'...controlled by Dems. Big difference.

Maryland is also the state with the most per capita share of people working for the government.

22 It shouldn't amaze me anymore, but it still does, the level of racial hatred the left feels free to pour on any black American who forfeits their protection. HEY MORONS!!!!!! PUT ON YOUR THINKING CAPS!

Okay.. now that I have your attention and since this IS sort of an open thread, I need some help.  My son was telling me about this new book coming and the plot sounds strangely familiar to a book I read maybe 10-12 years ago about a man that goes back in time to try and stop the asassination of JFK.  No matter what he does  JFK ends up asassinated anyway.  He can travel back and forth between the past and present.  Since he can go back in time he knows who won the Kentucky Derby, the World Series etc.. and makes a ton of money.  There is a love interest involved but thats about all I can remember.  Anyone here know the book or the author?  I would love to read it again.  I know one of you morons will come thru.  If we ever meet up.. drinks are on me all damn night.

Liberals' self-perception is one of great egalitarianism. Because they are liberals. And liberals are great egalitarians. And they are liberals. Therefore they are great egalitarians. Liberals' self-perception is one of an absence of racism. Because they are liberals. And liberals have an absence of racism. And they are liberals. Therefore they are absent racism. You could repeat this argument for any number of traits. This kind of circular thinking is what allows them to bypass any deep self-reflection in the face of obvious fallacy.

It is quite the conundrum to deal with people who take it as axiomatic that you are wrong about everything under the sun, even as their ideology fails to align with reality. Case in point, the stimulus. By any objective measure, it failed to live up to the Left's promises of what it would do. But, fuck if they still don't say that their Keynesian theories are correct and if they don't demand that we go back to the well for even more "stimulus".

Posted by: wheatie at March 16, 2013 08:13 PM (rwujx) My problem is that the statement betrays a fundamental lack of understanding of not only the 2nd Amendment, what it is and why it's there, but a serious problem understanding the concept of freedom. No matter what their other positions, something like this makes me think someone has only a peripheral understanding of "freedom issues," and would probably be comfortable in a society that I would consider destructively oppressive. It's not that people can't survive in such a place, it's that they live at the Whim of the Rulers, ultimately. And they hope for kind rulers. While we may have become too soft to do so, one of the major points of our system is that we can say no.

199 "Ted Cruz asks hard, necessary questions of DiFi and that Brennan creep, gets
treated with contempt."

You will notice the textbook liberal response by Princess DiFi to Cruz's hard, necessary questions.

She said she felt personally insulted by the questioning.

Because, to a liberal, that's an entirely dispositive response. She doesn't have to say anything further and she doesn't have to actually come up with any substantive answers to any of those substantive questions. She just has to say that the questions made her feel bad.

"You're mean! This discussion is over!"

Second grade playground recess logic. From the senior Senator representing one of the largest and wealthiest states in the Union. That's liberalism for you right there.

By the way, in any negotiations with Feinstein over gun control, any Republican who trusts for even one second what she says, or who tries to negotiate a "sensible middle ground" deal, should be instantly tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail.

She's currently protesting that she has ABSOLUTELY NO INTENTION of trying to ban guns. Pull the other one. This is the very same Feinstein who a couple of years back was on national television saying about gun control, "If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States, for an outright ban, picking up everyone of them, Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in, I would have done it."

Of course, Miss Lindsey and McQueeg figure they can cut a deal with her. Because that's the "sensible middle ground" option. Arrrgh.

217 FWIW, the Buff is a fine aircraft but is awfully long in the tooth. It was scheduled for replacement decades ago but gets pushed back every time. It's a catch-22, it really needs to be replaced (if nothing else, build some new zero time airframes) but it does it's job so well that a replacement is considered unnecessary. Knock on wood, there haven't been any widespread catastrophic failures of the airframes...but like I said, they are awfully long in the tooth.

232 ZH again: For most countries, a haircut of 11 to 30 percent would be sufficient to cover the costs of an orderly debt restructuring. Only in Greece, Spain, and Portugal would the burden for the private sector be significantly higher; in Ireland, it would be too high because the financial assets of the Irish people are smaller than the required adjustment of debt levels. This underscores the dimension of the Irish real estate and debt bubble. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

390 Stuck in skating rink hell again. So no one ever really came up with an answer to my purely hypothetical question; NC law prohibits the carry of firearms basically anywhere that charges admission. I'm in the skating rink where I did not pay to get in, my son paid to get in but they call that a skate rental fee. They will charge you to get in if you bring your own skates, so technically that is admission. I still didn't pay anything, so could I legally carry in the skating rink?

Hypothetically speaking?

480 Basically, GGE, lawyers and politicians can twist the law against *you*, but if you twist it against *them* they take it personally. Ignorance might keep you from being charged, interpreting the law to them would make them pissy and they'd probably SWAT you.

489 I'm concerned for AoSHQ.... I once had a friend who would listen to the most obscure bands and then try to convince me how great they were and he'd try to get others to listen to them. 90% were crap, but occasionally he'd strike gold. However, if one of the bands became well-known and popular he'd instantly start calling then "sell-outs" and abandon them... Does Ace really want to be mentioned in the same sentence as Town Hall and Hot Air?

525 Wow. My cat just started up iTunes all by herself. Al Stewart's "The Immelman Turn". She has good taste in music. Posted by: rickl at March 16, 2013 09:08 PM I saw him do solo show in Austin, TX in 1977 A friend called and said she had two tickets. She couldn't find any else who wanted to go. It was the best concert I ever saw. As a native Austinite who saw EVERY TOUR coming through the southern US that's a big claim. He had a slide show behind him that he worked with foot pedals and performed his music with the orchestral parts on tape. From experience I can tell you that is very difficult to do.

599 The left has persisted in securing their claim to the "correct" black. Any other black is a Tom or a fucking fool [sic].

600 I don't know if 'racists' is the correct word when describing liberal antagonism to people of color who escape the plantation and adopt or advocate traditionally conservative (and once revolutionary) ideas regarding individual freedom, free market capitalism, and a less-is-better approach to government. The Left loves all diversity but diversity of thought. It's been that way since before Marx. It will always be that way. The elites of the progressive movement rationalize their will to power with vague, feel-good bromides about equality and 'social justice' (whatever that means). They delude themselves. Maintaining this flimsy delusion requires lockstep obedience to the party line. Stepping over that line threatens the whole flimsy construct. Witness what happened to WaPo's own Bob Woodward, who used his amazing reportorial skills to read a newspaper headline from a year or so ago and discovered the White House had, in fact, originated the sequester. For pointing this out, Woodward's had everything but a public show trial. So no, they're not racists. They're totalitarians, an outward societal expression of the authoritarian impulse, tyrants, all of them.
