If I was a soft drink vendor in NYC, I'd be instituting a "buy one large drink, get a second for X% off" special. The "X" discount would be the price that would equal the price of the now-banned soft-drink from hell jumbo size. The two drinks together would equal the size of the banned jumbo.

Congrats!! Be there early (like 7:00 a.m.) for the Motivational Run. Afterward, they get cleaned up and in uniform, you'll be directed to the gym, and they'll march in by platoon.
While you're waiting, go to the visitor's center and you can pet the current "devil dog," and buy your son's framed pic (in his dress blues). After the ceremony in the gym, they're free to spend time with you (on base) until 3:00. Your Marine can eat free at the buffet at the Four Winds Club buffet.

There are a lot of assumptions made here, the biggest being that if immigration stays constant (it won't nor hasn't) and dismisses who is moving to Texas from other states (some libs from blue states, I'm guessing a lot of those fleeing from blue havens lean right)

I read it. Like I said, I think it assumes static growth that isn't going to happen. Given welfare and anchor babies, its no surprise whats happening is happening demographically.
Having said that, a lot can change in 15 years. I certainly didn't see where we are now coming. What happens to births in that community with welfare reform? My guess is it slows it significantly. Why are white births lower? Culture and the fact that largely speaking whites are middle class and therefore don't qualify for handouts. Makes you think of having a second kid. The more hispanics that are middle class, the more that calculus changes and the more they become republican as a cohort.
I can tell you that immigration here is (at least was) down to historic lows being close to the border. Most of the illegals I have encountered aren't from Mexico at all.

And, yes, the local community is outraged. And, yes, the superintendent is likely to lose his job over it.

It should also be pointed out that, according to those who exposed the whole thing, the teacher was obviously uncomfortable with some of the things the curriculum said, but she only has so much wiggle-room in getting around the textbook.
For instance, when the textbook said she wasn't supposed to call the 9/11 terrorists "terrorists," she (reportedly) said, "The book says I'm not supposed to call the 9/11 hijackers terrorists. They were terrorists." Again, when the curriculum called the Holocaust "ethnic cleansing" instead of "genocide," she said, "The book says I'm supposed to tell you the Holocaust wasn't genocide, but that it was ethnic cleansing. I'm telling you it was genocide."
The teacher is... well, not "blameless," but the person acting in official capacity who bears the least blame.

But it doesn't work as well here. Texas schools (especially social studies departments) are positively steeped in Texas Pride. We learn the History of Texas very young. We are taught, with pride, about the Texas Rangers (and how they started- though some of the dirtier parts are glossed over for 6th and 7th graders). We are taught, with pride, about the Texas War for Independence and even Texas's roll in the Civil War.
As such, with some notable exceptions, people who are here from the time they're children tend to be Texans first, and Americans second. It also makes our Democrats a little less insane (as a rule) than National Democrats.

It's not quite as bad as it sounds. The ISD was (apparently, but it's hard to tell for sure) teaching out of an unapproved curriculum- the C-SCOPE curriculum that is known to be anti-American.
The Republicans on the State board of education stopped it dead in its tracks on a state-wide basis.
That's where most of the horror stories you're hearing come from- that C-SCOPE curriculum. They're the same curriculum that had a unit (I think also for World Geography) telling students to design a flag for a new Communist country.

The test is timed, you have to get off a series of 50 shots in so many seconds from 3 distances (3, 7 and 15 yards). Here is her target. 175 is the minimum passing score. They want you to shoot center of mass.
That's just one example of me Empowering women....She now has a murder, mugging and rape free zone that extends 15 yards in any direction around her. She doesn't have to be beholding to, or fear any man a putting hands on or abusing her. She is woman, hear her pistols roar!
In my experience that's a lot more effective than the whistle that Obama and the Democrats want to give ladies.
