— Ace A civil servant is neither civil nor a public servant. Discuss.
George Will drops a lot of information on this partisan Rage Monster.
As soon as the Constitution permitted him to run for Congress, Al Salvi did. In 1986, just 26 and fresh from the University of Illinois law school, he sank $1,000 of his own money, which was most of his money, into a campaign to unseat an incumbent Democratic congressman. Salvi studied for the bar exam during meals at campaign dinners. He lost. Today, however, he should be invited to Congress to testify about what happened 10 years later when as a prosperous lawyer he won the Republican Senate nomination to run against a Democratic congressman named Dick Durbin.
In the fall of 1996, at the campaign's climax, Democrats filed with the Federal Elections Commission charges alleging campaign finance violations by Salvi's campaign. These charges dominated the campaign's closing days. Salvi spoke by phone with the head of the FEC's Enforcement Division, who he remembers saying: "Promise me you will never run for office again, and we'll drop this case." He was speaking to Lois Lerner.
After losing to Durbin, Salvi spent four years and $100,000 fighting the FEC, on whose behalf FBI agents visited his elderly mother demanding to know, concerning her $2,000 contribution to her son's campaign, where she got "that kind of money." When the second of two federal courts held that the charges against Salvi were spurious, the lawyer arguing for the FEC was Lois Lerner.
...
Lerner, it is prudent to assume, is one among thousands like her who infest the regulatory state. She is not just a bureaucratic bully and a slithering partisan; she also is a national security problem, because she is contributing to a comprehensive distrust of government.
...
The case against the NSA is: Lois Lerner and others of her ilk.

Rampant bullyism from someone who holds power, but shouldn't. Our government was never designed to accommodate this type of abuse.
Yet here we are. Nothing will be done to her. You can't tell me what she did was legal in any way.

Exactly. Exactly. Exactly.
This is why it doesn't matter what Snowden said, or which scandal is worst constitutionally, or where some talking points came from.
The NSA scandal is what enables all the others.

Lawsuits.
Lots and lots of lawsuits.
Don't get a promotion, file a lawsuit, probably under ADA.
Don't get hired because you showed up to your interview in ripped jeans and a t-shirt: that's a first amendment violation (seriously, my wife heard about this case.)
We apply the rules meant to restrain government from tyranny that really don't work when government is employer.
Oh and unions (but it's the same tactic.)

I've pushed this in the last two dead threads that IRS is the weak point in the whole of this administration and the left's dominance of government. IRS is the least sympathetic of government agencies, nobody likes them, everybody fears them.
This should be exploited by the Tea Party organizations, the IRS should be flooded by applications which they will have to address quickly and fairly and any hitch should be made a big fuss about.
No need to panic, all the scandals are an opportunity to make hay while it shines, attack the liberal establishment and take over the GOP at the branch level, primary every Congressperson who is on the other side.

Good God. The Reds leave no stone unturned, do they?
But having said that, nowadays everyone puts everything - and I mean apparently everything - on Facebook. Any conservative who even has a Facebook account ought to have his head examined. Why type in information that the enemy can use against you later?
Put something impolitic on your Facebook page at 20, have it dug up to use against your political campaign at 40. Would the Reds do that? Duh.

As I ponder the Boosh administration, it occurs to me this problem has been around for a looonnngggg time with bureaucrats running their statist agendas regardless of who the executive is. This time, the bureaucracy and the executive have the same goals.
After the JEF is no longer the executive, even if a conservative is ever the executive, how do we clean the bureaucracy? They will still be there, thowing a shoe in the works at ever turn. The only way to get rid of them is to get rid of the agencies I think.
Get rid of the IRS. Get rid of the EPA. Get rid of the Dept of Education. Get rid of the Dept of Labor.
The only way to fix it is to gut it.

All the scandals, and there will be more revealed, are depressing to contemplate but they are in fact a good thing. Publicity will put a huge spanner in the works, things will have to change no matter how much MFM will try to shield them.
Consider the old saying "The cat is out of the bag". Things will only get worse for Obama and his enablers or foot soldiers. The 2012 elections is the best they will get for some time.
Public opinion will take some time to shift but it will turn against the government. Obama may continue to evade blame but he will be powerless none the less.

Get rid of the IRS. Get rid of the EPA. Get rid of the Dept of Education. Get rid of the Dept of Labor.
I agree with all of this, but with one caveat: tell the people what comes after them.
It's great to say "get rid of the IRS!" but then you have to tell people, "Instead of a monstrous organization that forces the leviathan tax code upon you, the federal government will be funded through an XYZ tax, to be collected by ABC division of the MNO department. This transitionw ill take ### years and will be effective for fiscal year (insert date here)."
Instead of just "Get rid of the Dept of Education!" we have to say, "Education decisions and funding will remain with each state and will not fall under any federal oversight. This transition will take ### years."
The mouthbreathing masses need to have the world laid out in front of them like a map. Their brains can't make the mental leaps of logic it would take to figure out what a future without the Dept of Ed, or the Dept of Labor, or the EPA, or the IRS, or any other federal agency would look like. And frankly it's a good idea for US to know what that future can and WILL be. Otherwise we're just flailing around like an untied shoelace.

Give me your trust said the queen on her throne
for I bear the burden of ruling alone
Trust me to lead and to judge and to rule
and no man will think you a fool.
But trust is the sound of a grave dogs bark
trust is the sound of betrayal in the dark
trust is the sound of a souls last breath
trust is the sound of death
Give me your trust, said the King on high
Our nation shall triumph, our enemies die
Trust me to reign with a firm gentle hand
and peace will prevail in our land
But trust is the scent of an open grave
trust is the scent of an unwashed slave
trust is the scent of a souls last breath
trust is the scent of death
Give us your trust said the lady and lord
We will protect you by law and by sword
Trust us to keep your land safe and secure
and We shall ensure it endures.
But trust is the touch of a knife in the back
trust is the touch of the ropes on the rack
trust is the touch of a souls last breath
trust is the touch of death
Give me your trust said the Love of your life
I'll be your lover and I'll be your wife
Trust me to love you and stand by your side
as mother of children, and Bride
But Trust is the taste of a poisonous cup
Trust is the taste of a life given up
Trust is the taste of a souls last breath
Trust is the taste
Of Death.

#138 My spiel:
Stonewall Jackson usually thought only in terms of attack. This attitude was exemplified on December 14, 1862, at Fredericksburg, Virginia. Vastly outnumbered by the Federals, Jackson was asked by a staff member, “How shall we ever cope with the overwhelming numbers of the enemy ?” Jackson’s reply was to the point, “Kill them, sir, kill every man!”
unfortunately, it just didn't work out that way.

Game. Set. Match. "
No, they won't. Elections beyond 2014 but not in 2014 or at least not in numbers significant enough to make a difference. Besides, if conservatives are serious they better come out and vote in much bigger numbers than in the last three elections.

I've never understood that line from the "White Rabbit" song. "feed your head?" The Dormouse never says, "feed your head" in Alice in Wonderland. I've read that book two or three times a year since I was seven years old; I think I would have noticed.
Maybe i'm just looking for too much logic in a song about 'shrooms.

maybe amnesty dying a painful, public, prolonged death is what both sides want. They can say, hey we tried and the others guys suck.
You know, it's a crying shame we don't have anyone to vote for who will actually do something positive for the country, like securing the border.
I'm about to resurrect my Political Draft. Just tell somebody, "Hey, you're running for _________." Training camp would consist of four hours of studying the Constitution as written and four hours of learning how to refute Leftard talking points and saying, "I'm sorry, that's not true. Here's what you're missing." (plus working on subtle insults for the MFM, most of which would start with, "Chris, you mewling quim...")
We couldn't possibly be any worse off than we are now.

In February 2009, FBI agent Chad Joy filed a whistleblower affidavit, alleging that prosecutors and FBI agents conspired to withhold and conceal evidence that could have resulted in a verdict of "not guilty." In his affidavit, Joy alleged that prosecutors intentionally sent a key witness back to Alaska after the witness performed poorly during a mock cross examination. The witness, Rocky Williams, later notified the defense attorneys that his testimony would undercut the prosecution's claim that his company had spent its own money renovating Sen. Stevens's house. Joy further alleged that the prosecutors intentionally withheld Brady material including redacted prior statements of a witness, and a memo from Bill Allen stating that Sen. Stevens probably would have paid for the goods and services if asked. Joy further alleged that a female FBI agent had an inappropriate relationship with Allen, who also gave gifts to FBI agents and helped one agent's relative get a job.
As a result of Joy's affidavit and claims by the defense that prosecutorial misconduct caused an unfair trial, Judge Sullivan ordered a hearing to be held on February 13, 2009, to determine whether a new trial should be ordered. At the February 13 hearing the judge held the prosecutors in contempt for failing to deliver documents to Stevens's legal counsel. Judge Sullivan called this conduct "outrageous."
