In DC not all that long ago there was a shooting at the National Zoo. It was reported as a total surprise, everyone was absolutely unable to explain why there would be a shooting at the zoo, totally random. Turns out in reporting today that it was African American Family day at the zoo that day (which sounds racist to me) and that DC cops were on heightened alert because of that (again, racist) and that there was some foreknowledge that something would happen and they are saying the shooter was a 14 year old boy. Sounds like DC needs to make it illegal for 14 year olds to have guns.

Someone all up in 2A stuff probably will correct me, but I believe that no one under age 18 may purchase a long gun, and no one under 21 may purchase a hand gun. And since you are also required to sign and swear that you are not a straw purchaser - i.e., that you are not purchasing a firearm for someone else - it doesn't seem that there would be a legal way for someone under 18 to own a firearm.

Yep, very state dependent.  My state puts limits on possession by minors BUT has a number of exceptions to the rule.  The most notable are that the law doesn't apply in the home, at a shooting range, or while hunting.  My underage son "owns" a .22 which is quite legal for him to have in this state provided he follows those exceptions.

And most of my friends whose dad's hunted had their first rifles by the time they were 12. I'm not sure if that's the bottom legal age in TX for owning a rifle or not, though.

Or make it even easier for members of Congress to live in their districts.  Do away with their need to go to DC.  Tele-commute from their district office and they meet in a virtual Congress online. 

Save all that money on buildings for Reps and Senators, turn them into hotels.  By adopting tele-commute it also makes it far harder to kill off that legislative body.  And can also reduce the salary of each elected official.  And while at it, change that law that limits the House to 435 members, can double the number without costing more to pay and house more in DC.

The Constitution says that they must be 25 years old and be a resident of the State in which they represent.  It doesn't require that they be a resident in the district they represent, but by "tradition" they do.  Which is why Nancy has that house in SF even though she really lives in Napa Valley. 375 I loved the Chi-Chi's Twice-Grilled Barbecue Burrito.  Came out on the sizzling plate.

Kicked ass.

Cried when Chi-Chi's closed.  But On The Border helped make up for it.

We just found an awesome restaurant (in Canada!) owned by a sweet Mexican lady.  Amazing food.  So we're good now.

But damn if I couldn't go for one of those burritos.

Actors can be blackballed in a way a musician (at least one with a hit or two under their belt) can't. People have to agree to work with Mel Gibson on a movie. Nobody has to agree with Kiss to allow them to sing songs that Kiss wrote and own. Orson Scott Card got blackballed from writing comics -- where he had to work with a small team of artists. But they can't blackball him from writing books, or selling the hits he's already written.
