— Open Blogger After suffering years of sub-par temperatures, ocean levels and hurricanes, tornadoes have joined the club * this year.
While admitting that cool temps are the likely culprit, the article does reassure the faith of its flock:
Weather Underground meteorologist Jeff Masters said. "The extraordinary contrast underscores the crazy fluctuations we've seen in Northern Hemisphere jet stream patterns during the past three years," he said. "Call it 'weather whiplash' of the tornado variety."

It goes without saying that "Crazy" and unpredictable weather is an historical anomaly. That is as obvious a proof of their models' ironclad Oven Earth prognostications as any statistical swerve to those halcyon days of the 1900's where the weather was marginally cooler and less whiplashy (Serealy, Guys, we all know that if no Doppler radar existed to witness a remote tornado, then the tornado never existed).
[ahem]
Look, they are Sciency-tists, man. Back Off.
* It's a very secret club. Members greet each other by pulling out a stuffed animal that looks like an amalgamation of a man, a bear and a pig, and mime violating it. **
** And by mime, I don't mean they go all Marcel Marceau on it. That'd be totally French. ***
*** Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The weird thing about climate change is that after studying the alarmists and others I have concluded it is totally real and can be unbelievably devastating.
It's just that no strong evidence points to any CO2 disasters in the fossil or geologic record. Other disasters, those kill so much I can sometimes barely believe it.
I have noticed now they are trying to spin volcanic extinction events with CO2 even though they are usually associated with cooling.

The Toba eruption cooled things so much that it created a genetic bottleneck for human ancestors and reduced the population to as little as 10,000. Nothing humanity could do short of all-out nuclear war could come close to such devastation. I'm more concerned about that sort of thing than about barely measurable increases in temperature.

In the White HouseÂ’s latest efforts at transparency, the administration announced to reporters that it would brief reporters on the latest shocking developments about the Benghazi situation Â… behind closed doors. Politico reports that the meeting started at approximately 12:45 PM ET, and that it moved the normal press briefing to 1:45 PM ET. Jay Carney, White House press secretary, did not comment on whether the meeting took place.

I'm so old that I remember the Blizzard of '77 here in Buffalo, which suggests one of those "walked miles to school, uphill both ways" stories. You see, back then, we didn't have Global Warming to blame for oddball snowstorms - it hadn't been invented yet! (People further East can wax nostalgic about the Blizzard of '78, and if you REALLY want to see something, look up about the Blizzard of 1888, which had a similar effect on NYC as Sandy - but worse).

I was listening to Rush about a half hour ago and he gave a hat tip to Ace and AoSHQ in a veiled way.
He was talking about the Benghazi story cover-up and he mentioned "a conservative blogger" and how the story finally came out of the "Fox News ghetto". No other conservative blogger I know was talking about this story using those exact words. He never directly mentioned ace or AoSHQ, but there can't be any confusion about it:

"70 ... Specifically, he wrote about how scientists have been trying to use computers to predict the weather for years but that the closest they've gotten is a few days out and, even then, there's only so much certainty to the predictions."
Even THAT prediction doesn't tell you the temperature to a fraction of a degree accurately.
That being said, predicting what the temperature will be at a certain time would be a lot harder that predicting an AVERAGE temperature, that's averaged over months. So it's kind of apples and oranges. AGW is crap, but that's actually not a great argument.
Same deal with the idea that "CO2 is just a trace gas". Ask yourself how much arsenic it takes to kill someone. Sometimes, a VERY tiny bit of something can have a HUGE effect. For credibility's sake, it's best to stick with the legitimate arguments.

How many heat units need to be added to the Pacific Ocean to make it rain in West Texas?
Pretty simple, really. The temperature of the Pacific determines the location of the jet stream. The location of the jet stream year-to-year determines where the moisture laden air from the Pacific flows into the United States.
So, how many heat units does it take to shift the jet stream south--like it was three years ago, when it rained a bunch--from its current northern location which contributes to the drought we're suffering from?
Answer: They have no fucking clue.
They know less about the weather than the average corn farmer. The average corn farmer at least knows exactly how many heat units he needs to ripen his crop.
They can't even tell you the basic mechanics and inputs that cause rain in West Texas.

(And yes I did!)

From the Wunderground blog comments page, a warning that sounds ominously likely to prevent dissent from "established science". And we shall see.
"When using Dr. Masters' blog, please refrain from posting material not relevant to the discussion of tropical weather, or the topic of the blog entry itself. Please do not engage in personal attacks or bickering. Material not conforming to these standards should be flagged with the button and ignored."
