34 Can you listen to the "audio" of a conversation without listening to the "content"? If the audio file is stored by NSA but not run through voice recognition to determine the "content", would that count? If no human is listening, but a computer is storing and analyzing it -- does that count. "Nobody is listening to the content". Lot of wriggle room there.

I walked into my work building, right behind some co-workers of mine. I know two of them are o-bots but not sure about the third. All of them were talking about this and the two confirmed o-bots were ok with it as long there was some form of oversight.

What they are setting up will allow the government to input a name, a phone number, an address, a credit card number, and within in a very short period of time (think seconds to minutes at the most) have a complete list of all your known associates, their known associates, their spending habits, places they've stayed, etc. This isn't future stuff. This is stuff you can do at home with the evaluation edition of Microsoft SQL Server. All you'd be missing is the disk space and the means of inputting the data. Combine this with the data the IRS has been compiling about "Patriot" groups, and the illegal collection of Concealed Carry Permit holders, and you have a totalitarian's wet dream of data at your fingertips.

So you need a liver transplant? Let me just put this into the computer...

Beyond that, my problem with this is that there are other ways to protect America from radical islamic terrorists, without violating the privacy of every American. For example, we could disallow visas for visitors from the countries in question and expel their nationals.

It's metadata listing which number called which number at what time, location, duration, etc. What else is going on is data-mining many disparate sources. Interest mapping, association mapping, profile building, and comparing all that to known actors of a particular category is all on the table.

Where a "person" may be "listening" is probably a transcription, and pattern matching within that conversation. Then if red flags are raised, someone might listen to the call recording or to future calls.

Hey, that's my side of the state, specifically blue, blue King County, which was actually not named for MLK, but some white dude who just happened to be the Vice President when the Washington Territory was created in the 1800's. Several years ago, our then Governor, Christine Fraudoire (remember her, the she stole the gubernatorial election) signed a bill into law that renamed King County after MLK. All the logos, official letterhead, signage on county trucks etc., was changed to honor MLK. (Costs of changing all the logos was estimated to be $600k by The Stranger, a very liberal Seattle rag.)

Anyways, yes, your rehearsal dinner should be very interesting. Most people here are LIV's and Obama lovers. Although, there are small pockets of conservatism here and there in the suburbs. Good luck!

When I worked for an international telecom company a while back I was part of team making sure we implemented the software that ensured the proper wiretap protocols according to each country's specifications. It was pretty frightening. For example, Thailand required not only free reign to listen in, they required a separate dedicated office (with door locks) on the switch premises to do so (so they could do this without any scrutiny). Even Canada doesn't give its citizens protection from wiretapping (inless things have changed recently). We laughed about it at the time. Not laughing now.

*Side note: our team printed up shirts with the project name and "We listen to our customers" as an inside joke.

There is but "One Voice" in government given a dictator, and each branch amalgamated into assuming the role of a different branch. Judges legislate from the bench. Trust them. Congress forfeits literacy, voting without reading or debating bills. Congress acts as the President's jester, entertaining his whims. Congress fails its own sworn obligations to uphold and defend the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land. Strike that, via mere policy. And the POTUS is the media fabricated emperor of the "free world" - pfft. Free for the taking. BECAUSE I COULD. May government officials and employees suffer their own judgments laid unjustly against whomever. May THEIR personal and private records all be open to the public. May THEIR benefits all be denied, unfunded. May THEIR taxes all be audited publicly. May THEIR DNA, blood samples, and body fluids be tested for everything, especially for drug abuse, and posted for the public record. Whatever vendettas that authoritarians organize against their political opponents, may their efforts blow back to the source of sabotage, and be made publicly known in an open record available to all.

The way I understand your laws, and I could definitly be wrong, any terrorists defense attourney would now be able to dismiss almost all evidence as gathered without a warrant.
