Nancy Pelosi Pretty Much Proves She Has No Idea What's In Obamcare
— Ace

So, for that matter, does David Gregory, who shows no indication that he has any idea how Obamacare's grandfathering rules work. Nancy Pelosi makes a series of false claims and Gregory fails to challenge her on any of them.

But even with David Gregory's kind latitude, Pelosi embarrasses herself.

The Old Gal's not quite all together anymore, is she?

As someone who's actually from the fucking place, let me offer an instructive anecdote about how liberal San Franciscans think. Or don't think.

Fire is a BIG risk in SF. Huge. Because of the density of housing. You've heard the phrase "zero lot line"? Zero lot line. There are entire districts where all of the buildings have physically contiguous walls in direct contact. Fire spreads fast.

And, earthquakes. Much more damage happened in SF from postquake fires than from the Great Quake of '06.

So, SF lavishes money on its fire department and prides itself on preparedness. Plus, there's plenty of pork to go round thanks to fat federal grants steered here by San Fran Nan.

A few years ago, there was a giant citywide program to replace all of the fire hydrants. SF is also a coastal city and those things tend to get rusty in the salt air. Replacing them was actually a sensible idea.

But what they were replaced with couldn't just be any old ordinary pedestrian off-the-shelf utilitarian fire hydrant of the sort you might find in, Cosmic Muffin forbid, some nowhere city in flyover country inhabited by rubes. No no no no no. San Francisco needed _stylish_ fire hydrants that reflected the unique special snowflake nature of the city by the bay, and the ever so wonderful people who live in it.

So, SF's fire department spent a metric shit-ton of money to buy fire hydrants. Special, stylish, unique ones. Imported!

Then after they had all been installed, the fire chiefs from neighboring cities, who will be expected to respond into the city limits to fight fires in case of another Great Quake, cleared their throats and pointed out that the high fashion imported hydrants SF had just put in were... incompatible with their hoses and pumps.

Not making this up. You couldn't make this stuff up.
