4 I just got back from the Hobbit, part 2, in 3D and with amazing motorized Barcalounger seats.   It's been about 2 years since I was in a theater, but this was almost worth the $15, especially since I think the higher price tends to filter out the yappy, cell-phone using riff raff.

The previews showed the new 300 movie, which I will definitely go see in that theater.  I'm going to have to find a movie buddy, though, since there's no way in hell the wife will want to see it.

122 Thor and the Viking chick

Didn't MST3K do that movie in season 3?

123 106 AE caved and it putting Robertson back on story on Drudge. - That's a slap in the face to Jesse Jackson and the entire African-American community. Posted by: WalrusRex at December 27, 2013 05:20 PM (E+uky) Can we also kick his worthless ass?

124 At least it's not a remake of a remake. I think it's a new idea. Flip off, Hollywood.

Hey, I've suddenly got a great idea for an AoSHQ Kickstarter fundraising project!

126 'How do we know Thor and the Viking chick won't side with Kung Fuhrer?"

It's still the battle of the vagina vs the anus, and all the goobers who don't like our talk can go suck an egg.

130 This movie is a good lesson on why skateboards should be banned.

@113 I hear more and more about Kickstarter. It's basically a means of attracting private funds to launch people's ideas, right? How does it work? Do people actually have a record of launching successes? Do people actually get paid, and how is that negotiated?

----------------

You post your project information on the website, along with how much you need to achieve your goal.  You have exactly one month to achieve your goal.  People pay money to Kickstarter on behalf of your project, and if you reach your donation target by the end of the month, then Kickstarter gives you the money (minus their cut).  If you don't reach the donation target, then the donors keep their money.

132 While Phil’s comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the “coarse language” he used and the mis-interpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would “never incite or encourage hate.” We at A+E Networks expressed our disappointment with his statements in the article, and reiterate that they are not views we hold. Fuck A&E. And this "coarse language" bullshit. There is coarse language used all over A&E and on DM who was shilling for GLAAD. It's "coarse language" for Robertson to say vagina but not or Jennifer Lawrence to go on and on about her butt plugs. p

Thanks.  So when you say people donate to a project, do you mean that literally?  There is no expectation or structure for any returns should the idea actually be a good one and succeed?

134 For anyone interested, I checked kickstarter and Kung Fury is 95% funded, with 28 days left to go. Cannes here they come!

135 How about helping a former Marine and Iraq veteran buy a tractor for his sustainable farm? Just Google Kickstarter New Life Farm. He's a good guy who served his country and is just trying to carve out a living on the land.

I liked 2 GUNS.

Also liked RIDDICK.

Riddick was some solid badassery.  Great movie.

141 @139 Dave, bingo. When you place a pledge, you're explicitly told that it's a donation and you may never seen a thing from it. That being said, there have only been a couple of outright scams on Kickstarter where the person collects the funds and then heads to Aruba. It's much more common to see "Well, we need $x to do this" and they get that amount and then discover that they really underestimated how much they needed.

143 So... finished (re)watching all five Die Hard movies. I think I must have only seen these on television before... because I sure would have remembered the rather alarming bare man-butt at the beginning of #2. I like men, I really do, and I really like a muscle bound stud, yup, really do, but nothing... nothing on the planet makes a man-butt pretty. Also finally watched Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer.

145 Two questions - 1) Can I get on a mailing list to be informed when this movie is actually made and released? and B) WTF did I just watch?
