We have an old cat and two dogs, both labs. When we had the chickens, there was one big hen that would not take shit from anyone, especially the dogs that liked to chase them around the back yard. This hen would puff her chest up, spread her wings and charge the bigger dog like he was her bitch. It was the funniest thing to see a black lab running away from a chicken!

This is why it is best to hold the line on principal with a flat tax. Nothing will ever be good enough for these people. Hypothetically speaking, let's say the country agreed, no one needed more than $1MM. That won't stop the debate, they'll just move the goal posts and claim that no one needs more than $750,000. We will be fighting this for the rest of our lives.

The injured birds are usually thrown onto a bonfire afterwards...still alive.
It's horrible.

I know it won't happen, but it is what we should be arguing for. Then we might end up with a flatter tax. The moment we cede that the rich should pay more, well we know where that goes. The definition of rich is pretty loose and how much they should pay more keeps going up. But in the process we have already ceded the moral case against the rich paying more.

Kinks: I saw them play in Portland where one of the backup singers had a "costume accident". The strap broke on her dress and dropped down. Slightly embarassing for her, but she managed to carry on.
Chickens again - I have a crippled chicken. Don't know what happened to it but it acts like it's missing one leg, so I'm guessing it's paralyzed. It pushes off with the other leg. I kept thinking about putting it down, but it seems to get around okay, even lays an egg occasionally. I wonder if they have those bionic blade legs for chickens?
