— Ace Movement progressives at the till of the IRS. This is what you get.
New testimony from IRS officials claims that Lois Lerner, the director of the IRS's Exempt Organizations division, instructed employees to send Tea Party group applications for tax-exempt status through a multi-layered review that included the IRS chief counsel's office, which is led by Obama appointee William Wilkins.Lerner "sent me email saying ... when these cases need to go through multi-tier review and they will eventually have to [through her staff] and the chief counsel's office," said Michael Seto, the head of the IRS unit that was handling Tea Party applications.
This new testimony suggests that the decision to target Tea Party organizations came from Lerner herself, and that Wilkins' office was closely involved in some of the applications.
Tax law specialist Carter Hull, who works for Seto, testified that despite his 48 years of experience approving or denying tax-exempt status applications, he was told in the winter of 2010 that, at the direction of Lerner, the applications would need to be sent to the chief counsel's office for further review. Hull said never before in his nearly five-decade career had he been told to send applications up the pipeline.
And don't miss this from @benk84 -- Christine O'Donnell's tax records were leaked the day she announced her candidacy.
On March 9, 2010, the day she revealed her plan to run for the Senate in a press release, a tax lien was placed on a house purported to be hers and publicized. The problem was she no longer owned the house. The IRS eventually blamed the lien on a computer glitch and withdrew it.Now Mr. Martel, a criminal investigator for the Treasury DepartmentÂ’s inspector general for tax administration, was telling her that an official in Delaware state government had improperly accessed her records on that very same day.

As I said in my first post this morning. The major topic one year ago today was the FDA spying on whistleblowers and employees. I could not even find anything that said anybody had even been fired or disciplined at all.
A lot of hot air and NOTHING came out of it. I doubt if you question 100 people on the street NONE of them will remember it or even admit hearing about it.

Aaaannndd. . .what did he do? Did he say "WTF?" and buck the order, saying, "we don't do this!" or did he comply like a good little Brownshirt?
THIS is why I hate hearings like this, because nothing will be done. Put me in charge:
Me: "So, Mr. Hull, did you make any sort of protest about this order?"
Hull: "No, I thought it was odd, but I figured there was a reason for it."
Me: "Thank you, Mr. Hull. Sergeant-At-Arms, take Mr. Hull into custody. Sir, you are hereby remandered to prison for five years. While you're there, see if you can figure out what my reason for it is!"

Carter Hull: I didn't sign up for this. This is someone's bullshit political agenda. Who authorized this? Carney?
Lois Lerner: Carney couldn't tie his own shoes without permission.
Carter Hull: If I go down you're coming with me.
Lois Lerner: Wrong again. I have an *autographed get-out-of-jail-free card*! "The President of the United States authorizes Deputy Director of the IRS Lois Lerner to conduct 'Operation Stuttering Clusterfuck' including all necessary funding and support. This action is deemed important to the national security of the United States etcetera, etcetera, etcetera." You don't *have* one of these, do you Carter?

This was all low level staff out in the field, far from Washington oversight.
Our beloved President only learned about this when some 16 year old trouble maker blindsided him by asked him about it in a press conference.

No. Respectfully, but emphatically, NO. It IS the people. If the Horde were running the IRS, we would not be using its powers to harass and hinder ordinary Americans. These scum do. Because to them, we offend their very beings by existing. We are, as Her Imperial Majesty states, Unpeople of Jesusland. OT Benghazi from Drudge
"On Tuesday I raised the question of why none of the Benghazi survivors, whether State Department, CIA, or private security contract employees have testified publicly before Congress," said Wolf.
"According to trusted sources that have contacted my office, many if not all of the survivors of the Benghazi attacks along with others at the Department of Defense, the CIA have been asked or directed to sign additional non-disclosure agreements about their involvement in the Benghazi attacks. Some of these new NDAs, as they call them, I have been told were signed as recently as this summer."
Wolf continued: "It is worth nothing that the Marine Corps Times yesterday reported that the Marine colonel whose task force was responsible for special operations in northern and western Africa at the time of the attack is still on active duty despite claims that he retired. And therefore could not be forced to testify before Congress.
"If these reports are accurate, this would be a stunning revelation to any member of Congress, any member of Congress that finds this out and also more importantly to the American people. It also raises serious concerns about the priority of the administration's efforts to silence those with knowledge of the Benghazi attack in response.

Incidentally, now that all this IRS stuff is coming out, it might explain why Palin decided not to run...no one's taxes are perfect and they could have found something to blackmail her into staying on the sidelines.

Harding deserves some historical rehabilitation certainly, especially since he prevented what could've been a catastrophic economic crisis by the ingenious expedient of not inserting the federal government into the middle of it and allowing market mechanisms to restore the balance, but the men involved in the Teapot Dome scandal--his men--weren't called 'The Ohio Gang' for nothing. Harding knew (or had to know on some level) they were crooks but they were also his friends, his boys, and he was always loyal to his friends.
That's my take on it, anyway. Harding's death was tragic (If we were playing Clue, I'd say it was Mrs. Harding in the yacht with the lobster) but saved him from the ignominy of public scandal while he was alive.

#201 That would get Ted Cruz taken into custody. It's one thing to suggest demonstrations and another to encourage rebellion.
Then we have no recourse. solution. The current Washington occupants will engage in bukkake theater over this and nothing will happen. We cannot organize enough people to protest / strike for as long as it would take to put the fear of God into these people, and attempting to work within an electoral proces will either be stamped out at the beginning, compromised with stolen elections, betrayed by turncoats promised sexual / monetary favors / blackmailed, and calls for resistance will be stamped out.
If we cannot declare rebellion over this administration, then what will it take? This is an honest question. What will it take? Mass arrests? Martial law? Suspension of the 22nd Amendment?

Yesterday, the WaPoo reported that the IRS Chief Counsel, one of the two political appointee positions at the IRS, was directly involved in the selection and drafting the questions the conservative applicants for tax exempt status were asked. Coincidently, the IRS Chief Counsel was also engaged in regular communication with the office of the WH Counsel. Add these to the unprecedented increase in visits between senior IRS officials with senior WH officials, particularly those engaged on the political side of the WH, and we have a strong potential link to the WH and a political motivation.
Lerner wants immunity - but she's not going to get any immunity until she let's the Oversight committee know what she knows and they believe that granting immunity is worth getting what Lerner knows on the record. She's already taken the 5th - and there is a reason why she took the 5th. Even if she refuses to talk and decides to take one for the Obama team - like in Watergate, there are other links and people involved in this abuse of power and coverup that will lead to the truth.
At this point Cummings is doing all he can to derail the investigation - and try to falsify the investigation as being purely motivated by ideology. If he succeeds - then we lose. All we need is one serious media element from the lamestream media decide to put the law ahead of ideology.

Improving economy? It looks to me like we're stuck in a narrow band of plodding growth, perpetual underemployment, and increased part-time over full-time employment and job opportunities four years after the so-called "Great Recession" ended, with little ground made up to get us back to where we were in 2008. At this point, we're likely closer to the next cyclical recession than we are to financial meltdown in '08 and we've not experienced the huge economic growth and job creation that usually has occurred or is occurring at this point after a deep recession (I think we all know the primary reason why this is occurring). The situation is only exacerbated by the fact that implementation of ObamaCare looms on the horizon. Even the Obama administration understands how perilous the situation is as seen by them suspending parts of the implementation.

Elections could be halted due to massive civil unrest and the media would excuse this as acceptable and far too many people would bu into this.
The elections almost certainly already contain significant elements of fraud (>100% turnout, 0 votes for Romney, trunks full of "misplaced" ballots, etc.) and the Repubs don't even want to investigate any of that, and apparently not enough people care to force the issue.
The IRS scandal is barely getting traction and everyone that actually works for a living knows how they have been screwed by arbitrary IRS rules.
We have a way to go before enough people wake up and are willing to support insurrection.

Would that get the ball rolling?

Yep, and Obama & Co. don't care because they are NEVER in support of cutting government spending or cutting taxes for individuals and businesses because their religion is that government is a panacea for all societal ills. Thus, we continue to run up huge annual deficits that squeeze out private investment and increase the likelihood of the collapse of our financial and economic system sometime in the next decade or two (maybe sooner). Obama and the Democrats will never get blamed for it though, as the problems will occur long after he leaves office. Worst of all, we'll have to be lectured by Obama for the rest of the time he is alive as he goes around and attempts to rewrite what actually happened during his eight years in office, especially the path towards financial and economic disaster that he took us.

I give it two years. It'll happen in a year or so but the media will successfully hide it from the general public until it can't be hidden any longer. Think Bagdad Bob proclaiming Iraqi victory while American tanks roll along in the background behind him.
If you think they can't hide it for a time, think again. Real unemployment has been at or around 14% for several years now. Food in grocery stores has been packaged in smaller and smaller portions for the same (or higher) price, and the same holds true for restaurant servings. Small things, little things that go unnoticed until they are noticed and then explained away. A week or so ago Paul Krugman slipped and publicly stated/wrote that we're in a 'low-level depression', but who the hell other than news junkies like me read Paul Krugman? So yeah, it's a slow train coming: not all at once, not dramatically, but there's nothing I can see that would stop it at this point, not with this President or this Congress.

I've been "pragmatic" for almost two decades now. 2012 was it for me. The reelection of Obama and the general collusion of the GOP on major issues signals to me that we are unreformable. Yeah, I have no idea the time frame. Two years seems too soon but the hell if I know. The ugly, as you say, is being hidden and will continue to be hidden. I guess my big takeaway is that there is no truly opposition party to yank the restraints. So what if the next team of pragmatists get in if even they can muster the support to get in past the apparent blockades the Progressives have erected? The country is in decline and there's no serious, acute and desperately necessary check on the evident and gross corruption at what seems to be all levels of governance.
So, sensing no reform on the horizon, it's only the speed of the collapse that's in question.

It's even worse than that...the people who understand how mighty the machine can be for the people are dying...
in 15 years the majority will have no direct knowledge of the self-inflicted gunshot wound to the Golden Goose....

You can count on that. I'll support Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin. Beyond that, everything is iffy. There are a handful of others I'd trust (like Jim DeMint) but even some rookie Tea Partiers have turned their backs on us. I don't forget betrayal.

I haven't watched this for a while and was shocked that the Democrats are in full CYA mode now. They claim to know for certain that Obama knew nothing.
That tells us that Obama knew everything and they all are covering up. Because if he really knew nothing they would not be so scared.
However, the Networks aren't going to cover it so it won't matter much in the end.
The media continues to try to get those race riots started to take everyone's mind off the terrific job Obama is doing. You would think race riots might actually hurt Obama, but, someone, some where, decided it will help, and are pushing hard for them. Weird.
