NFC Championship Game
— Dave in Texas

49ers and Falcons today at 3pm EST. Atlanta's gotta be feeling good after that wild one with Seattle last weekend. I wonder when the last time a team with a tie in their record (SF) made it to the Championship game?

Ok, I'm not like, wondering a lot. A little.

The over/under is 49, 4 pt. spread. Who you like in this one?

I like her.

Ok I like her too.

4 The 49ers should really  look into getting a choreographer.

6 Packers, 1967...unless there's a more recent instance I forget (I'm old enough to remember the Ice Bowl). http://www.packershistory.net/1967PACKERS.html

Why does Drudge have the hots for Kaepernick?

Is Kaepernick a fellow homosexual?

Or is he a fellow joo?

Just askin.

10 I'm rooting for Matt Ryan and Tony Gonzalez in this one. I like San Fran as a team but the Falcons have drawn my interest since they drafted Ryan. Ultimately I want whoever wins to fall against the Patriots in the SB, so it's academic.

11 ...do the 9ers cheerleaders buy makeup by the barrel?

Gotta go with that Falcons gal.

Odds are she's not a tranny...whereas the 49er 'girls' - well, you just never know.

It is San Francisco.

13 Damnit. Ditched on the last thread so I'll repeat myself: It's officially humpday! Only four more years left now. God help us.

16 Whaddaya know?! The 1970 Niners made the NFC Championship game with a tie in their record. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/sfo/1970.htm Lost to the Craig Morton Cowboys. Dammit. Cordially...

356 Another interesting factoid: only three teams utilize their fullback as runners and as a normal part of their base offense: the redskins, the ravens and the 49ers. They all made the playoffs, and it's a good bet one of them will be in the Super Bowl.

all I can picture are Seattle and Portland.

If you look at one of those liberal/conservative or gun owner/confiscator (BIRM) maps you'll see the Seattle/Portland/Vancouver areas are tiny compared to the rest of the state. In fact the area has taken steps to be different from the coast. We prefer the Inland Empire. Heh, I even pulled for the Seahawks.

Best Ever Layoff Letter

Dear Employees:
As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these in...creases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%.
But, since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off sixty of our employees instead. This has really been bothering me since I believe we are family here and I didn't know how to choose who would have to go.
So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lots and found sixty 'Obama' bumper stickers on our employees' cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can't think of a more fair way to approach this problem. They voted for change......I gave it to them.
I will see the rest of you at the annual company picnic.

Posted by: Peaches,

I saw this on the Yahoo home page. If you read some of the comments, you know how the FSA thinks. Their belief if you take a sick day and don't get paid, the big evil corp is making even more money. If I was big evil corp, I would offer two different packages. One with sick days and one without. If you choose the one WITH sick days, I will pay you less. Because I may have to hire a temp or pay overtime to another worker if you don't show. If I don't need to cover you job if you are out, I may not need your job at all. It would be substantially less then the package without sick day pay.

You choose.

You expect a modern NFL d-back to tackle?    They either avoid contact like the plague (cornerbacks) or go for the big hit and don't wrap up (safeties).     ESPN SportsCenter has done more to ruin modern sports than anything else.

703 San Fran running TD. Wide, wide open hole to run through. SF leads for the first time, having overcome a 17 point deficit. As for protection QBs, for a long time the NFL had tons of first clase, tough as nails QBs. Aikman, Marino, Favre, Elway, Jim Kelly, Doug Flutie, etc. But they eventually retired, and the promising college QBs got hurt or didn't pan out. The NFL finally realized they needed to protect the guys that everyone wanted to watch. I can't really argue with the NFL protecting their mealtickets.

792 Bruce Willis was born and went to school for a few years at the base on which I served in Germany. Idar-Oberstein/Baumholder. Daddy was an Army man.

800 God I hate Roger Goodell and what he's done to the NFL.

The NFL plans to expand the league's Rooney Rule in the aftermath of zero minority hires among the 14 head coach and general manager positions so far this offseason.

NFL executive vice president of Human Resources Robert Gulliver said in a statement issued by the league Friday: "While there has been full compliance with the interview requirements of the Rooney Rule and we wish the new head coaches and general managers much success, the hiring results this year have been unexpected and reflect a disappointing lack of diversity."

801 Niners obviously can take a punch.

Posted by: ontherocks at January 20, 2013 02:06 PM (aZ6ew)

802 Don't understand that last pass by Ryan, though. Shouldn't it have been a hail mary into the end zone?

Posted by: OregonMuse at January 20, 2013 02:06 PM (mHjlJ)

803

Would you like the shrimp or the crab, sir?

"Why can't we have both?"

Very good, sir! Shrimp and crab it is!

804 (((HUGS))) Jane. I was there last week when the Broncos fell to Killer Ray and the Ravens. I'm not a big football fan but it hit me unexpectedly hard.

807 wow Harbaugh looked just like a 4 yr old throwing a tantrum

Jim Harbaugh always has this perpetually aggrieved/outraged look on his face. I think he must have been a womyn's studies major.

808 572 They can hire anyone they want(as long as he's black).See 567.

827 "what will be hilarious is when these folks end up in a nursing home with their tats that used to say "Foxy Lady" and "Stud". Gravity will take it's toll and they will look even more ridiculous."

If I had the money, I'd invest in tattoo-removal technology. In a few years, as people start to grow up and regrets to mount, it will be *huge*.
