NFL To Obama: Thanks But We Won't Be Promoting ObamaCare
— DrewM

Republicans had urged the NFL to stay out of the ObamaCare PR effort and now the NFL says it has no plans to get involved with the Obama administration.

One of the worst things about Obama and his minions has been their insistence on inserting Obama and his policies into traditionally non-political areas. The NFL in the past has gotten on board with these things through Michelle Obama's "Play 60" initiative and Obama showing up for halftime interviews and on and on.

It's nice to finally see some push-back.

The Left acts like the government has such low overhead because it doesn't have to "waste" money on "marketing" and yet, here we are mere months before the alleged full implementation of this shit sandwich and what is the administration trying to do? Market the motherfucker in one of the costliest marketing venues on the planet.

Shit, if you allocated all of the expenses from the bazillion speeches Obama gave while trying to get the shit sandwich passed and then talking it up for the past 3 years as "marketing" (which, in point of fucking fact, it is, I don't give a fuck if the mouth-breathers on the Left can't see that), I'm sure Obamacare is the most heavily-marketed insurance program in the history of the fucking world. Apparently there are some other complaints, other racial things like minor slurs towards jews, allowing hostile work environment for women (porn visible on computers in the back) some other minor slurs against black people.

However, the idea that people can be taken to task for the slightest outburst is insane. Every person, no matter how good, can get pushed over the edge or make mistakes. What matters is not those situations but the pattern of abuses / wickedness (read: most Democrats) which a flash-in-the-pan story (such as with Mel Gibson) never tells you.

Alec's got some rage issues, but I don't consider him a bad person for cussing out a reporter. You gotta get me more than a few instances of anger, gluttony or lust. Pride is worse, and sex addiction like Weiner's show something I'd be more concerned about if I had to trust a person to do the right thing.

I live down here, and there is so much the general public doesn't know.

The bitch who is suing Paula's brother, a woman named Lisa Jackson, managed Bubba's restaurant for five years.  When she chose to leave, she wrote a warm, glowing letter to Paula thanking her for the job opportunity and teaching her many life lessons, including being an independent woman.  She's also claimed she was never harrassed, or heard any racial epithets.

When she decided to sue, she told Paula that for a million dollars, "the whole problem can go away and you can maintain your empire."  Paula and her brother refused to be cowed and have been fighting her ever since.

We get the details down her the rest of the country doesn't.

106 How about that ad with cameos by Biden and Obama along with NFL players saying it's bad to beat up women. Well, yes, it obviously is. It happened to coincide with this war on women narrative they were hammering, so forgive me if I am a conspiracy nut and suggest they were correctly assuming America's minds of mush would use that to connect a few dots on the precious narrative.

Those guys that protest with big paper mache heads. We  can team them up with the ladies in the furry pink vagina costumes. We can have paper mache Obama heads examining the "furry vaginas" with a massive thermometer, and use say "this can happen to YOU with Obamacare."

/oh wait, we're supposed to make people think it's good right? However, with the coming exodus of doctors, I can see "gynecologists" using "thermometers" "down there." So at least it would be accurate.

And every re-election has been based on Americans' loyalty (in Arizona) to our Military. I don't mind his stand against torture on principle given that our prisoners of war too frequently as captives suffer mutilation and murder. Whether he did or not, himself, he returned home a twisted man. As if he deserved everything delivered to him on a beer distributor platter. It wasn't just McCain reaching over the aisle to be part of the Keating Five with all other crooks being Democrats, the other "hero" John Glenn and the other AZ Senator( DeConcini caught scamming America, destroying the Savings and Loan industry. So yeah, I despise "my friend" McCain for being a deceitful root causing the Republican rot, and destroying the local savings and loan banks, leaving only credit unions to survive against the globalist banking industry today. -- Byline, McCain would hold everyone's drugs over their heads until he gets his victory. Need that prescription? Need those vitamin minerals. Never get between a voter and his drugs of choice. Unless your going to profit by the new comprehensive reform legislation law that you can only get a general product from a specialist. Until McCain has to undergo a blind drug test, he needs to STFU.

319 "Suddenly" Last Summer [tonight's FOX tv movie, Liz Tayler and Kate Hepburn, basically two long monologues.] Catharine Holly, a poor relation of a prominent New Orleans family, seems to be insane after her cousin Sebastian dies under mysterious circumstances on a trip to Europe. Sebastian's mother, Violet Venable, trying to cloud the truth about her son's homosexuality and death, threatens to lobotomize Catharine for her incoherent utterances relating to Sebastian's demise. Under the influence of a truth serum, Catharine tells the gruesome story of Sebastian's death by cannibalism at the hands of locals whose sexual favors he sought, using Catharine as a device to attract the young men (as he had earlier used his mother). As with many Tennessee Williams plays, the play incorporates elements from the playwright's own life, along with elements from the life of his idol, poet Hart Crane. / ! /

Save them up for the future; Goodell will do something bone crunchingly stoopid at some point.

Btw, since that thick fuck Alec Baldwin was brought up earlier in the thread, I heard something interesting on Tammy Bruce's show.  Evidently when she was 19 she was living with some very self-destructive mid 30s actress who evidently was a switch hitter (Tammy is brutally honest about some of the strange shit she got herself into).  After she and Tammy stopped playing lezzo fu, Baldwin was smashing her when he was a soap opera actor.  One day, Tammy came home and found the woman had killed herself with a pistol.  After the cops came and investigated she started calling people that knew her.  Baldwin was in NYC at the time so she reached him there and his first reaction was "Wow" followed by "was it because of me" in an excited voice.  She just hung up and has never talked with him again.

347 NDH, I'd almost rather the game die then. I barely recognize it anyway, the late 70s to late 80s were pretty much the peak of the game. Go back and look at the diversity of systems in use in 1984 for example, and the cohesion and integration of legacy personell groups. There's none of that now a depressing modularity of personell and maybe two or three systems in use. Another beautiful thing ravaged by unions and greed on both sides.

350 #346  Yep.  Ba'al and Moloch are demanding their sacrifices.

You do realize,  however,  that Deen,  as a democrat who CAMPAIGNED for Obama,  is being used by the evil people as an Example.

Thus we see the efforts to tell the public that Rachel is eleoquent,  or that the NFL should toe the line on Obamacare.

Deen is a warning to their restless troops.  All of them are going to start sounding like those weasel charactes in cartoons: "Yes, boss!  I did what you said, boss!  You still like me,  don't you boss?"

Evil stalks the world. I sometimes think that there is a supernatural war going on which we do not notice. Moloch gets his human sacrifice in America every day, and probably laughs at God. Our job was to take the side of God, but instead we have allowed this evil to spread. Bad tings will happen because of this.

Posted by: Vendette at June 28, 2013 03:31 PM (K+I6z)

363 Completely OT: People wonder may wonder why I supported Mark Sanford in the special election down here in Charleston, and here's a fantastic example of why: The House passed legislation today that lifts the drilling moratorium in coastal waters, and while I would have liked to support it, I voted no because of what the bill did in usurping state authority. The bill gave the federal government sole authority and final say on all negotiations with oil and gas parties, though our state and every coastal state, who have a compelling interest in both the appearance and effect of exploration and extraction efforts off their coast. As well intentioned as this bill is, I still fundamentally believe that including a stateÂ’s perspective is vital. As Governor, I saw many ideas proposed by Washington that were good, but took no account of the local perspective so fundamental in adhering to the principle of federalism. That local view is vital in a state that is as dependent as ours is on tourism and retirement. The bill in its present form would allow a rig to be built roughly 15,000 feet from our shoreline (3 miles) and in plain sight from the beaches of the Isle of Palms or Hilton Head, with no ability of anyone in the state to impact that decision. This scenario could be something that people in South Carolina feel comfortable with, but if thatÂ’s the case, I believe such approval should be given by the Governor and General Assembly here in South Carolina, rather than by unaffected parties in Washington. For these reasons, I did not support the bill. It is expected to not become law as there are not enough votes to move it forward in the Senate, and so I am now writing legislation that would give states the final say on drilling within 12 miles of their coast. This is generally accepted as the end of the line of sight from the coast, and beyond that point, I don't believe the state has a compelling economic interest. I am in favor of lifting the drilling moratorium, but it is important that it is done in a way that preserves the principle of federalism and state sovereignty in matters directly affecting the stateÂ’s economic interests. I can't imagine any other of the candidates in that election from Teddy Turner to Chip Limehouse to Colbert-Busch saying anything this good.

****

I see it getting worse for the NFL in the long term:

a. behavior issues on and off the field start taking the shine of the league (Hernandez, good grief), even at the high school and college level which drive parents to look at other sports (lacross?). Why would decent parents want their kids to associate with some thugs and hoodlums just to be on a winning football team?

b. education bubble bursting causing a scaling back of athletic programs and remedial education programs especially at the college level (you ought to see the gym and aquatic center at GMU, wow.  And the gyms at UF were world class).

c. media exposure of what happens after an 8-10 year football career.  a thirty year old man who can hardly walk, has trouble remembering his name, and bankruptcy (and this is withoutcriminal legal issues).

Yep, these last couple of years are the long goodnight for the nfl.

625 Regarding the recent DOMA ruling, and in particular Kennedy's characterizations in it: There is, as the Court surely knows, a body of case law on religious accomodations that must be made in the workplace. The employer believing the religious practice to be nonsense is not enough to deny the accomodation. Further, there is another body of case law on the ability of American citizens to exercise the dictates of their religion outside the boundaries of the church yard. To reiterate: the First Amendment guarantees the right to free exercise of religion. Case law affirms that this right is not bounded to Sunday only. The government is also prohibited from establishing a religion. What this means is this-- The United States Federal Government cannot, in an official document, proclaim a religion is not true. It would be an anti-establishment of a religion; it would mix church and state by having the state rule on doctrinal matters. This is not sophistry. That is exactly what "establishment" is--to rule on doctrinal matters. For example, the state cannot say the Baptist view of communion is correct and the Catholic one impure. And thus it cannot say both are false. For in the saying, it would be creating an official position on religion--and this the Federal government is prohibited from doing. The "no establishment" clause says it cannot take an official view. It simply has no power, no grant, to do so one way or the other. In the matter of gay marriage--the viewpoints on issues gay, of major religions worldwide, religions that have billions of adherents, are quite clear. We are not talking about boutique views of a cult of five people here. One may can disagree with the views of these religions, but one cannot say they are not part of the religion. Certainly the Federal government cannot, for the "no establishment" clause ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITS the Federal government from ruling on the validity, pro or con, of doctrinal issues. It would be an establishment for it to do so. So, major religions have views on gay issues. There is also the case law saying that Americans get to exercise their religion in a practical way, outside of a church. There is a "non-establishment" clause which prohibits the Federal government from ruling on validity of church doctrine. What this all means is that while the United States Government, naturally, does not have to automatically abide by the desires of religious sects, neither can it read those views as outside the pale. If a citizen votes for something based on his religious convictions, the United States Government does not necessarily have to trim other parts of the Constitution if there is a conflict in rights, but neither can it claim religious impulses have no validity whatsoever, for to do so would be both a doctrinal religious ruling, which the non-establishment clause gives the Federal government no power to perform, and it would be an infringement upon the free exercise clause. Therefore, the portion of the DOMA ruling that characterized motivations behind gay marriage denial as invalid are violations of both the non-establishment clause and the free exercise clause, and in a future system, where the Court has a more direct check, would be overturned as an improper direction to the lower courts, because citizens have a right to vote their religious conscience. Kennedy's ruling thus violates that right, as far as it characterizes voter motivations, and the portion that does so cannot be used by lower courts to guide their decisions. Judges may disagree with anti-gay views, but for them to say they have no valid basis is to deny a First Amendment right, for those views are an exercise of religion, and that right is protected.

655 Shorter: Courts cannot try--as occurred in the Prop 8 trial--to delve into the rationales of voters so as to discredit them if religious based, because it is both a denial of free exercise and an establishment violation (in the sense a doctrinal validity ruling has occurred). Courts cannot be Solomon in that respect, outlawing certain motivations. If that motivation has a religious basis, it is protected.

the devil doesn't like to be mocked. ridiculous that not only has she seen her empire crushed but she has to compound it with humilating, almost maoist like, self criticism.  Get her off tv and get a tub of butter in front of her so she'll stop talking.

I stopped by an estate sale after work today. Overheard an (obviously) ghey white guy talking about Paula Deen with two black women. Apparently Paula Deen is worse than Hitler, Stalin and Mao combined.

Then the ghey said "Well, now gays can get married! Isn't that something!" Complete silence from the black women. The ghey looked all butthurt (and not for the usual reason). The expression on his face was all " Hey, I said the PC line about Deen and you're not returning the favor!"

That was good. Also, I got a great framed poster that will look great in my bedroom dirt cheap.

Hint;  Number one is also the place that hasn't suffered on bit during this economic crisis, nor have they ever had anything but a housing upturn.

706 The  NFL is a tax exempt organization.  Why jeopardize that promoting a government plan doomed to failure.....not that the current IRS would target them or anything.....It's simply amazing an entertainment group can figure out which side its bread is buttered on.
