— Open Blogger On Friday, ace had some choice words to say about witless boob Robert Mueller and his assurances that, as head of the FBI, he has top. men. investigating the IRS scandal:
He literally knows nothing. Obviously he could know these things, were he actually interested in the case.
Plainly he is not, and when the boss doesn't care about something, the employees quickly get that sense of it and comport themselves to the boss' actual feelings.
Emphasis mine. This reminds me of an article on the American Thinker blog that Rush mentioned a few days ago that makes the argument that conservatives who are looking for a smoking gun to link one or more of the current scandals directly back to Obama are going to be disappointed. The author supports his case by bringing up an historical fact I had not heard before:
Very few people are aware of this, but there is no document -- not one -- linking Adolf Hitler to the Holocaust. Why not? Because Hitler didn't need to sign a document ordering the slaughter of six million Jews. All he needed to do was to demonize his enemy in speeches at the Reichstag, on the radio, and from one end of Germany to the other -- then hire thugs like Herman Goering, Heinrich Himmler, Adolf Eichmann, and Josef Goebbels. They knew what der Fuhrer wanted, and der Fuhrer knew he could trust his henchman to get the job done -- no matter how, no matter what may be the law -- and to not bother him with the gory details.
So all Obama has to do is publicly castigate and demonize his those who oppose his policies (which he has done many times), and thugs like Eric Holder and Lois Lerner swing into action. No need for anyone to tell them what to do. They know what pleases Obama, and they will use the means at their disposal to carry out his wishes, to wit: to suppress and neutralize his enemies. Conservatives get on Obama for being a crappy leader, but that's not completely accurate. This is leadership. It's leadership, Chicago-style.
The lack of direct documentary evidence linking Hitler to genocide is interesting and if he had been captured alive, I'm not sure how the Nuremberg prosecutors would have built a case against him. Especially if he had pulled an Obama, thrown Himmler and Goering under the bus and piously claimed that the first time he had heard of the whole death camp thing was when he had read about them in the papers.
(Disclaimer: No, I am not saying that Obama is contemplating mass murder. However, I am saying he is a punk and a thug who has surrounded himself with punks and thugs and we're seeing the result of his thuggery every day.)

If the CEO of a company in the news as much as this IRS thing has been in the news walked into Congress and said "I don't really know what's going on at my company with regards to all this news", that CEO would be fired immediately. Once again we see the double standard to which public sector management is held vs. the allegedly "crooked" private sector. The entire public sector is managed by people's whose sole skill is self-promotion, as far as I can tell.

Ein Fuhrer! The new German leader so ordered the Final Solution. He did not need to write out a document. Through his speeches he ordered the extermination of Jews. Beifel unt beifel.
It was the bureaucrats like Eichmann and Heydrich when they gathered at meetings like the Wannsee Conference that the plans were enumerated as memos.

I am of the opinion that the the collapse was largely because of regulation. Consider that, after the post-1929 regulations were put in place, things went along swimmingly..., until the CRA was put in place requiring that bankers make risky loans. It is a longer story than that, but once the banks were compelled to make loans that were unlikely to be repaid, the die was cast..

The issue of criminal or civil charges in the financial collapse of 2008 is complicated. It's not a crime to be wrong about something like the continuance of a housing bubble or to lose money as a result of being wrong about something similar to that. I haven't seen a convincing case that anyone broke any laws in 2008. As someone who did not buy into the housing hype in the mid-2000s, I think the people, both in and out of government, who did were not thinking clearly, but I don't think they were breaking any laws. The shitty thing is that because those housing bubble losses have been at least partially "socialized", I'm paying for it anyway, as are others like me. So, even being prudent isn't always a defense against "the madness of crowds".

I suppose just by having a job, I also am paying for the financial collapse, but since the alternative to having a job is worse, that's something I'm more willing to endure. You could say that renting is also worse than owning a home, but not in the same way that not having a job is worse than having a job. I thought I had "beat the system" by not getting caught up in the housing hype, but the system is getting its pound of flesh from me over the longer-term.

More than just that, and the CRA was a minor element. Legislation in the 1970's allowed Fannie Mae to buy private mortgages. They and Freddie Mac started issuing MBSs in the 80's, the financial instrument at the heart of the credit debacle.
The CEO in the 90's, James A. Johnson lobbied Congress for greater independence that allowed them to get away with murder to the point of "creating a "partnership office" network to court the politically powerful with pork, giving high level employment to the well connected, giving out campaign contributions, creating a charity foundation, and threatening critics like FM Watch with retaliation."
Without the market created by FM/FM in MBS there would not have been massive mis-investment in the derivatives. FM/FM was *the* market. They had bought upwards of 50% of all mortgages in the US, chopped them up, and resold them to the banks. The banks knew of course they were implicitly backed by the Feds and that why the credit ratings agencies were happy to stamp AAA on them and collect their fees without the barest of due diligence.

They have him convinced that government infiltrators are the ones that bring out the bats and bottles and start attacking police and breaking windows (as in the May Day riots in Seattle) in order to discredit their movement. Now, that's snort-worthy, especially given that most government entities are sympathetic to the purported 'causes' these groups embrace -- but it makes me wonder if this paranoid attitude could be used to drive a wedge between groups that agitate for these causes, and the idea that an ever bigger more intrusive government is the solution for them.

Even if Obama decked himself out in a garish military uniform, decorated with big shiny gold medals, and demanded the press address him as Colonel, the very many useful idiots that make up his ground troops would still not make the connection. Why? Because they agree with him....which explains why they are so willing to do his bidding without directly being told to do so. They're turning his flowery partisan rhetoric into ugly action.....all the while damning Sarah Palin, and the right, for using a rifle target pip on campaign ads, because they're convinced the brutish conservatives out there will do exactly what the left is doing now.

We must introduce a new element, something like jury duty, something random and temporary, to stretch out the time where freedom is real.
I'm still endorsing my very own Political Draft. Good folk are out there, we hear about them all the time. Just put them in office, after a camp that drills into them the Constitution and the concepts of liberty. Two months should do it.
Since we can no longer count on elections being fair or free, we need a new solution. It's a variation on the notion that we'd be better governed by the first few hundred people in the phone book. We couldn't possibly be any worse off than we are today.

A moderate to them means, what, using a sharp knife instead of rusty hacksaws to behead Jooz and homos?
It means giving the jooz and homos only one hundred sixty lashes before sewing them up in a burlap sack, tossing them off a cliff, then hanging them before stoning what's left.

I want to mention another very difficult matter here before you in all frankness. Among ourselves, it ought to be spoken of quite openly for once; yet we shall never speak of it in public. Just as little as we hesitated to do our duty as ordered on 30 June 1934, and place comrades who had failed against the wall and shoot them, just as little did we ever speak of it, and we shall never speak of it. It was a matter of course, of tact, for us, thank God, never to speak of it, never to talk of it. It made everybody shudder; yet everyone was clear in his mind that he would do it again if ordered to do so, and if it was necessary. I am thinking now of the evacuation of the Jews, the extirpation of the Jewish people. How else could the transport of Jews be given universal consideration for Germany's finite transportation resources across various jurisdictions? Look at what Hitler did to the independent effort to build a jet fighter. The continental effort to give priority to the Holocaust proves it was a standing order. How could Democrats be so very sure Obama would not score obvious political points as a tough sheriff by throwing them under the bus? The fact that nothing is being done to punish these people for unpopular acts is strong evidence they were ordered to do it, and can't be persecuted without endangering their boss. The fact that we don't yet have a John Dean isn't evidence there was no smoking gun.

Plus, as everyone should know by now, the nature of online communication is different from what it is in real life. In meat space, I'm a sweetheart. Everybody loves me. But here? Sometimes I don't mind saying stuff I know is going to get a rise out of some people.
Maybe that's not nice, and I shouldn't, but I figured the unspoken agreement was that we let our hair down a bit here, and if toes get stepped on, then they get stepped on. Metaphorically, of course, so I don't see much purpose to showing up the next day acting like my feet still hurt.

IMO the reason he increased the budgets of all the fed departments anywhere from 25% to 50%. He was "packing the court" by hiring all the lefty zealots he could, and now they are permanent. Do you honestly think a GOP president will reduce their budgets and lay people off? That's why the EPA and FDA are in a frenzy banning one thing after the other: because they can. It's their mission.

Not so fast. All a conservative president has to do is get a law passed making government unions illegal. Reagan should have done it when he fired the air traffic controllers.
It would get rid of much of the leftist riffraff we see in DC right now. Or perhaps just an old-fashioned purge by getting rid of, paring down and consolidating beaurocracies.

Fannie Mae has fired the executive who headed its Irvine office amid a federal investigation into alleged kickbacks from real estate brokers.
One former employee of the home-finance giant has been indicted on charges of soliciting illegal payments from a broker, and another former worker has alleged that such conduct was common at the office. Federal investigators are trying to determine whether the alleged corruption extended to other employees, according to two people with knowledge of the probe.
Other employees? Nay, nay, I say! It cannot be under the leadership of our glorious President Bystander!

I've been coming here for over 9 years, and the one constant seems to be that people come and go. There are times when I've been more active, and times when I've been less.
I don't think people only get fed up because things are bad, sometimes they just decide it's time for them to move elsewhere.
Honestly, I'm not sure what you guys are seeing that is bothering you. I would suggest maybe your changing viewpoint has something to do with it though, and only you would know how much or how little that might be the case.

Don't knock Beck. He told us what was coming down the pike 4-5 years ago. He's been spot on so far. He also said that this revelation that he's talking about is going to be done by the whistleblower after certain conditions are met. It's obvious these conditions haven't been met yet.

"No need for anyone to tell them what to do. They know what pleases Obama, and they will use the means at their disposal to carry out his wishes, to wit: to suppress and neutralize his enemies."
Close, but not quite. It should end "...to suppress and neutralize their enemies."
Lerner and others are of the same mindset, not a supporting mindset. They are willing commanders and lieutenants, not even foot soldiers. When an accounting is held (and either we hold them accountable, or they will go on holding us accountable), they must not be let off the hook by "following orders." These people are hunting conservative liberty no less than JEF, ValJar Binks, or Eric the Red.

Back in the 80's and 90's I spent about 15 years in the broadcast radio business. The mantra then, and I'm sure still is - "never stop selling". The theory was that as long as you are on the air, "be selling something". Beck takes that mantra to a whole new level.

She immersed herself in a new England farm which had no running water and no electricity. She dressed in clothing reminiscent of the 19th century. She gardened, kept goats, and painted.
And she lived to be about 95 years old.
Just thought I would point this out.

There are nearly countless perspectives on this. The majority consensus though, is that Stalin dithered while Hitler planned. They both knew the "alliance" wasn't going to last, but while Stalin had his troops frolicking in the woods without proper equipment, Hitler massed his army, and attacked.
It tooks weeks for any kind of Soviet response. Why? Because Stalin got his feelings hurt, and moped. Since nobody could act without his order, the initial damage was allowed to get much much worse than it should have.
Of course, that still doesn't explain why Hitler attacked Russia before defeating Britain, which he almost surely would have, if he had postponed the Russian war.

That's interesting in the fact that many of these ex-soldiers knew that they were more involved with terrorism against civilians sometimes more than they were involved with fighting the allies. So, at least a few of them, admit to the German military being "underhanded".
There was one that I talked to that was on the armor spearhead of the Battle of the Bulge. He said that they actually thought if they could make it to the supply and fuel dumps in Antwerp, they had a chance to win the war. It's kind of funny watching his face describing this. After going on for awhile about the progress they had made, he looked down and said, "and then the weather cleared up".

And he never said that either. He is not on the LIB wagon because he said he would rather fight for America. Please tell what is wrong with that ideal? I'd call him a roll model. Even if I don't agree with him.

I do see the point though, guys. It's not possible to have a substantive disagreement about something without someone showing up with the torch, indiscriminately burning everything.
Still, after a while, I just ignore it because fire don't burn throo the pooter screen.

I still view this as the premier blog for (mostly) intelligent commentary and world class snark (always), but I have noticed that the constant gallows humor is a bit wearing, at least for me, and it seems to me that a bit of "SQUIRREL!!!" has crept in. Maybe it is just that watching the country I love being slowly dismantled by communists and thugs (BIRM) that is bringing me down and not just the threads here.

Circa '45, people had enough common sense to discount such a ridiculous plea of ignorance. Today not so much because common sense isn't nearly as common as it once was.
But, yeah, there was no equivalent Wannsee Conference at Camp David. The conference was actually an entire series of conferences spread out over Obama's academic career and street agitator days. They were what they were long before entering the WH threshold and even before the New Party was constructed.

I believe that to be an unfair characterization of the man and the situation.
Everyone needs a break.
Just because you break from this site, does not mean you put your head in the sand and take a break from life.
In fact, it might mean just the opposite.

The German military overall was geared for a short war and that is why the Luftwaffe never embraced until too late the concept of strategi bombing as espoused by Douhet. Even as the Battle of Britain raged and destroyed so many fighters and bombers, Heinkel, Dornier, and Messerschimt stayed at almost pre-war production levels. By the time Speer ram-rodded a production ramp-up it was too late.
He-188 Grief was even fitted with dive brakes. The Ju-88 performed so many roles well in a pinch, the RLM thought other designs should also. So the promising Nachtjager He-219 languished with low priority while the Ju-88 fought RAF Bomber Command.
Everyone likes to trot out the Hitler caused the ME-262 to come too late. But the chronology shows how tenuous that assertion is. When the Schwalbe was first proposed the RLM did not think they would need it since they expected a short war and they were winning with current designs. So there really was no pressure to move forward quickly. So things moved forward leisurely. Plus there were teething issues with the BMW 003 and Jumo 004 engines.
RLM actually issued a request for a jet in 1938.
Messerschmitt's project 1065 mockup was inspected on Dec 19, 1939.
It was not until March 1940 that a contract was issued for three airframes and a static frame.
First flight with only the Jumo piston engine took place on April 18, 1941. First time an ME-262 flew under pure jet power took place on March 2, 1943 - three days later the Gloster Meteor takes to the air for the first time.
June 2 1943, ME-262 released for mass production.
August 17, 1943 ME-262 production jigs at Regensburg destroyed by Allied bomber raid.
November 1943 Goering asks if the ME-262 could be used as a bomber.
Then on December 12th, 1943 the Fuhrer orders ME-262 as only a fighter-bomber or jabo.
And its only after the 'Fuhrer orders it!' does Speer give the ME-262 the production priority it needs.
April 1944 is when Luftwaffe accepts 16 pre-production aircraft.
January 8, 1944 - first flight of the XP-80.
June 8, 1944 is when the most infamous Fuhrerbehfel limits ME-262 production to bombers only.
It must be noted that by May, 1945 when war in Europe was ending, the USAAF had deployed several P-80s to the ETO but they never saw combat. Compare how fast the P-80 went from first flight to almost seeing combat in WWII to how slow the development pace of the ME-262 before either of the Fuhrer's orders.

I don't know about the "people"; Fox did a poll (a real one, not an online thing) and it found that 75%+ want 3 of the scandals to be continued to be investigated by Congress (iirc they were: IRS, Benghazi, and AP).

Obviously you missed that he never said HE'D reveal the info, but that a whistleblower with CONDITIONS would. The conditions relied on "heroes in Congress"; guess he hasn't found any yet. The day after Beck mentioned this, he said that it pertained to CJ Roberts being hacked by the NSA to blackmail his vote on Ocare (something about Roberts' kids).

"Without the market created by FM/FM in MBS there would not have been massive mis-investment in the derivatives. FM/FM was *the* market. They had bought upwards of 50% of all mortgages in the US, chopped them up, and resold them to the banks. The banks knew of course they were implicitly backed by the Feds and that why the credit ratings agencies were happy to stamp AAA on them and collect their fees without the barest of due diligence."
weft cut, very well and concisely stated.
CRA was of course idiotic and extravagantly unconstitutional, and contributed to the overall result, but in a minor way.
The creation and insane expansion of the derivatives - as you point out most of them de facto exempt from rating agency due diligence thanks to the implicit fed guarantee - was the heart of the matter in the 2008 disaster.
Of course, exacerbated by the socialization of the mess via TARP, all the mortgage "assistance" programs since, and the galactic expansion of moral hazard due to the whole basket of idiocy. Oh, and Dodd-Frank, to "fix" it.
The refusal of anyone in the public square to explain all this, to prove it, to refute the nonsensical mythology that was offered from the outset, stands out as one of the reality-bending issues of the past few years. Those, of course, are now literally beyond counting, and I can't belive what I see and hear is actually happening.
Oh, and one general point - it's not the institutions, the govt. bureaucracy, the political class, and their irresponsibility, stupidity, greed, statist idiocy, and hostility to rule of law and civilized humane society that are the problem (though they are all there, and clearly have become catastrophically pervasive).
It's your neighbor, your co-worker, the fireman at the local station, the unionized "conservative" Dem at the factory, the guy on your softball team. It sure as hell ain't me - but it is most definitely "us".
