20 “The tactic of defunding the government unless [President Obama] repealed his signature issue was as poorly designed as ‘Obamacare’ itself, almost. I can’t imagine President Bush agreeing to repeal the Bush tax cuts if the Democrats had challenged him with the following proposition: We will fund all of the government, Mr. President, if you, President Bush, would give up on your tax cuts. President Obama was never going to give up on his signature issue.” – Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) on CBS’s “Face the Nation” I posted earlier that I watch five to ten minutes of the various talk shows today starting around 10:30. Our Hero Miss Lindsey really pissed me off with this one. The dems do not blame each other or bad mouth other dems in public. Why don’t these fools learn that? I know the answer, because they are the stupid party!

22 wonder if its true. Posted by: Iblis at October 20, 2013 08:30 PM (jljrr) I always thought they had something on Roberts to make him change his vote. Two or three weeks ago a man called local radio show host in Boston, Howie Carr with the story. Howie had never heard it and then after the break came on and said itÂ’s all over the internet. It has to have some truth to it because the law is clearly Un-Constitutional!

Beyond a certain number of comments, the thread becomes hard to refresh.

And it's difficult to track the whole thing if it gets too long.

In a 1k comment thread, it's unusual for the starting topic to still be the major topic by then.

I think this whole political vs non political division is a waste of time, dilutes both threads and makes for confusion which will some will find annoying enough to spend more time elsewhere.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it is a good motto for a reason.

Try mid 60's Caucasian.

I started out like everyone my age thinking things can only get better.

Then there was Viet Nam, The LA Riots, Assasinations, Feminism, Affirmative Action, Nixon, Carter, The Hostages in Iran and the Failed rescue, Even Reagan wasn't the golden boy some try to make him out to be seeing as how he gave us, GHWBush, Lost Opportunities in the Gulf War (thank you Coward Powell), Bill Clinton and his Puppet Masters, Failed Impeachment even though it was clear he lied, George Bush, Al Gore trying to steal the election, 9-11, The Iraq War (another bunch of failed opportunities), Republican hubris, The Democrats in power in the House, McCain, Obama, Obama, Obama, Obama etc.

Things looked so good in 1963.

30 Hey guys, Obama is going to call the glitches "unacceaptable." Good for him, it's about time he made up his mind whether they were "intended," "proof of the failure of the private insurer model" or "unacceptable." (FWIW, they were also entirely expected by us all here.)

32 "I always thought they had something on Roberts to make him change his vote."

Even before the Obamacare vote, at the time Roberts was confirmed, I saw a photo of Roberts, his wife, and their two small and quite white children, and read that it was via adoption, and said to myself, "How'd they swing *that*?"

I know several infertile white couples who have gone to adopt and basically been told they could have any color but white. For a white couple to get not one but two white kids, who were not twins, struck me as very odd at the time.

If true, and if true that it has opened Roberts to blackmail, it would be absolutely in keeping with Chicago rules. Note also that if a GOP renaissance occurs, but Roberts remains as Chief Justice, he's still vulnerable to quiet pressure in high profile cases. The institutional left isn't going away, and if they've got the goods on him, they've got the goods.

Another wonderful legacy from George W. Bush.

40 Personally, I'm a little put off by being told I must comment only about certain things on certain threads.

What's the point?

Why is it so important?

The notice about this just didn't seem a good justification for the trouble.

41 I get the separate posts for the Book, Gaming and Astronomy threads, but can the poster of the football and gun threads just hang a sign that says 'Moron Friendly' and call it at that? *** I always liked that the football thread was sort of an open thread. Not every minute of every game is noteworthy.

Posted by: Niedermeyer's Dead Horse at October 20, 2013 05:12 PM (DmNpO)

42 The trouble with redoing the site to be more user friendly is that it would mean having to change being able to us an alias nic and many of the current commenting systems make it difficult to read a thread from start to finish AND they also take away control of the comments from the blogger.

I like the way it runs as is.

But then I'm a conservative and don't much like stuff I'm used to to change.

It never seems to change for the better.

I'm sort of new here too. How do all you racists get something to show up in italics, since the italics thing seems to show up correctly when I'm in draft, then ignores me and/or mocks me after I post.
