40 We just bury our pets in the backyard.  It's fun, when you have a  hound who likes  bones, they get to keep themselves occupied, digging up and re-burying.

Plus, it saves on having to buy doggie bone treats.  And when the current dog dies, she becomes fodder for the next one.

And from the article:

"I want some of my ashes to be fed to my dog, like mixed up with his food or something,” said Kerry Vera, 33, of Harlem.

Vera says her 1-year-old Chihuahua, Krishna, is the world’s smallest Ru Paul impersonator. She noted that the pooch performs in local clubs as “Ru Small” and is a beloved member of her family.

Go to the FF page and look for "ad ons".  Download adblock+ and run it.  You can also get noscript but you have to tell all the pages you go to a lot to allow it, and those you go to sometimes as temporary allow.

Me too, honestly. I've gone through more electric can openers than I care to count...just in the last few years. I've been using one of those hand cranked openers that cut through the crimped top, (or bottom), of a can for a few years now. No sharp edges, and it has like four moving parts. I can drop it on the floor, or in a sink full of sudsy water, throw it across the room, stomp on it, and it still works.

Vic, thanks for your help. My computer has many short comings. It is close to 10 years old, 500 Meg RAM, running IE 8. I'm just going to hang on until XP is no longer supported, then I will pop for a new system.

For you, or anyone else that's interested, I have a used M4N82 Deluxe ASUS Mobo with AMD quad core CPU (3.4 Ghz), and 8 GB of RAM that I'd be willing to part with for the cost of shipping.

It works just fine, and if I don't find a home for it soon, it will end up in the junk box. One caveat: I overheated the CPU to the point where the system shut down....which was about 100c. I tested each core, and the RAM, and they still work without errors under heavy load.

157 Part of the problem is, if you are trying to carve out a career in motorsports, you really don't want to be on Roger Penske's bad side. Nascar said they have no proof any bribe took place since the radio only had half the conversations (because Penske was the only one smart enough not to talk about this crap on an open comms line). But half the new rules they introduced today directly address any attempt to bribe or offer compensation during a race. These new rules could really change things. Or maybe not. It's hard to say at this point. If they are rigidly enforced then it reduces the benefit of multi-car teams, to a degree. The sport seemed headed to a half-dozen 3-4 car super-teams. Except for rare occasions like Kurt Busch this year, if you hope to crack the top 20 you pretty much have to get a ride with Hendrick, Roush, Gibbs, Childress, Waltrip, Penske, or Stewart-Haas. Most of the benefit of the multi-car teams is because they combine resources and hire better garage staff, engineers, tech, etc. Better people and equipment to build better cars. Smarter engineers. That won't go away. But some of the in-race cooperation will be reduced. It seems. If Nascar enforces the new rules.

172 But, big picture, Nascar has just made fundamental changes to their sport with just a few days of thought, as a reaction to the events last Saturday and the media fallout. Typically, making big decisions in the heat of the moment without preparations like that doesn't end well. I would have rather Nascar just ate the bad PR for the rest of this season and then did some intense study to develop new rules for next season. I think there's a decent chance there will some serious unforeseen consequences of what they've done. But maybe not. Maybe they'll get lucky and they just stumbled on a perfect solution. Possible. But unlikely. it will be interesting to see what happens, though.

186 Each spot is worth at least $10k just in race winnings. I don't think Penske was offering a cash bribe. It was something the crew chief of the #38 wanted. He said they'd discussed it before. One guess I've read would be access to some test equipment or perhaps setup data. The top teams have extensive databases on car setups for every track. The crew chief of a small team would kill to have access to that data. But Logano making the Chase is estimated, by Kyle Busch, as being worth $3-$3.5M to an owner like Penske. So that one spot was worth $3M to #22 Penske and at least $10k to the #38. Huge incentive for Penske to offer a lot to get that spot.

Heh.  I wrote a short story eons ago, where I managed to engage in a bit of S&M with Yoko Ono.  I won't try to recreate it here, but let's just say if she had a "safe" word, I wasn't listening for it.

Really?   I never saw a bad Thoroughgood show.   Never.   Saw him open for ZZ Top in MSG and he killed.

The ZZ Top show was a pale comparison.  That's saying something, as I have seen a lot of good Top shows, too.

speaking of pets, watched that weird "Behind the Candelabra" biopic on HBO about Liberace. It was pretty boring. He had a lot of pets, both dogs and young men. But watching Michael Douglas play Liberace was seriously creepy. Matt Damon basically played Matt Damon. I think that man licked lead paint when he was a child or something.

230 At 65 I know a lot about P38's, both the opener and the airplane. I have a P38 opener on my 63 Plymouth Valiant keyring. What do I tell those too young to identify either the P38 opener or the Valiant? The P38 is a remote for the Valiant. They usually ask 'How does it work?'

238 I away some solid reviews at Cablas. Super-reliale, light, accurate was the consensus. Main complaint was a "flimsy" feel due to a hollow synthetic stock, fixed by sticking a spare box of rounds in there to give it one weight. Nice to be able to still get decent guns in the 100-200 dollar range.

241 232 No way to cancel the transaction, RWC? Posted by: Peaches at September 14, 2013 06:19 PM (8lmkt) I think if I did I would get a shitty buyer review on GB. Some reviews are good (for what it will be used for, a fun gun.). Main problems seem to be the cheap feel and it's a PIA to break down. Worse comes to worst I will resell it. But now at least I can tell myself it will be something the nephews can start with.

243 I went to a ramones concert on Election Day in 1992, and got to meet them all; c.jay was in a record shop, Johnny and marky were at a chili restaurant, and Joey was standing at the rear of the venue talking to two hot young girls. They were all very nice, and marky recited his line from 'rock n roll high school' when I asked him about the movie. Joey later pointed at me and my friend, gave me the thumbs up and said "let's hear it for my friends on the front row here! They came a long way to see us!" Best day ever for me.

Squeezing Out Sparks by Graham Parker held up the best.

I've had them all in the collection since 1987 or so...

'Squeezing out Sparks'  can't touch 'Look Sharp!' or even 'This Year's Model'.  Don't get me wrong, it's a really good LP, just nowhere near as good as the aforementioned Jacson and Costello Records.

249 Btw: any fan of the ramones needs to listen to the band 'the misfits'. Same tempo, but lyrical content consisting of 1950's horror movies and such. I rate them and social distortion right up with the ramones.

Posted by: The drizzle at September 14, 2013 02:33 PM (ysCLj)

250 Peaches, I've loved the ramones since I was 12. Sadly, I took a camera with me that day, but I left it in the car and was too fanboy stars truck to run and get it, so no pics! Johnny gave me a guitar pic and they all signed my ticket stub, but in the long years since I've lost them. I grieve every day over it. I can play certain ramones songs for anybody Nd they will inevitable smile and say how great the song is. 'Whats your game', 'listen to my heart', 'I want you around' and 'she's the one' always bring smiles to anyone that heats them. Just great, great music. Anyone who claims the ramones are "overrated" or "suck" are literal pieces of soulless shit. Lol.
