— Ace Very interesting.
The most important finding (per Allah) is that the warrantless hoarding of everyone's cellphone metadata has been deemed, by the panel that was supposed to serve as a fig-leaf fake, as "not essential."
In fact, they seem to question whether the NSA's claims that such data actually foiled any terrorists attacks, anywhere, ever, is correct. The NSA claims it's happened a few times, but I have never seen any concrete evidence of that. The panel says that most such data is helpful in a negative manner, that is, to establish a negative, that a known terrorist suspect is not in contact with co-conspirators in the US, thus alleviating worries among NSA officials, and, one imagines, allowing them to better assign resources.
Now, that's not nothing at all, but that is a far, far cry from "prevented terrorist attacks." If it requires spying on everyone to establish a few negative propositions, then this program requires far, far too much.
Read the whole thing. I'm tired and sick and done. Open thread!

It's tough but not impossible and it makes for a less cluttered life.
Plus soon all those "things" will have less value.
Buy from those who believe as you do, buy only that which actually is necessary for life or improves your life.
Quit partaking of their Witches Dance on the bones of our country and stop financing their decadent and dangerous lifestyles.
Start spending money in preparation for the time (and it will come) when their Castles built on sand collapse.

As recently as Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said the panel report would not be made public until next month, after the White House completed an interagency review of the policy proposals and Obama decided which would be adopted. He did not explain the reason for the delay, but suggested that officials wanted ObamaÂ’s views, in the form of a planned speech, to be released along with the report

Just like when I tried to argue with someone about unions, I got told I don't know anything about unions, and got a several paragraph long diatribe about the history of unions for the past hundred years that obviously I had never bothered to learn. Then I got told, wait until my husband got let go of his job for being sick, and I'd see. I replied that my husband had just recently been let go from his job after he got sick (ostensibly because all the paperwork hoops weren't jumped through in time.)
But I can't have an different opinion. Because.

You could have made that same prediction before Election Day 2012.
When the Democrats stuck then unknown Sandra Fluke up in front of a Congressional committee, I said, "This is bait. It's deliberate, planned, culture war bait. Don't take the bait. Ignore this ditz. Don't say a goddamned word. If you have to say something, talk about horrible gasoline prices. Or talk about a hundred applicants for every 7-11 job."
What happens? The idiot Limbaugh swallows the bait. Hook, line and sinker. Rants about it. Calls Fluke a slut. Off to the races. The entire Democratic identity-politics distraction machine, fueled up and tuned up and ready for instant response, is out of the blocks before Rush even closes his yap. WAR ON WIMMENZ!!!
Which worked, depressing as it is to admit.
And yep, someone in the GOP will surely take the same or similar bait the next time it's offered. Less ability to learn from experience than a planarian worm.

Unless you didn't really MEAN what you said.
Conservatives will be lied about and the attempt will be made to make them look like fools.
But what they say is accurate or what they believe is true or what they believe IN then they should have no fear of standing up and admitting to it.
isn't it time to stop fearing for our jobs, our careers our STUFF and start standing up to the bullies?
And if you lose something because they're stronger, so what?
Do you really want to continue to live like that in the country that's being shaped by that sort of action?
Perhaps they'll drive us all out of our jobs but the will not have forced us to kneel to their lies and their sin and their hate.
isn't that worth all the riches in the world?
Isn't what's happening now partly our fault for not saying
NO MORE sooner?

Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty has just been fired by A&E for endorsing the Bible's view of homosexuality.
And a judge in Utah just declared polygamy legal again.
Well, like someone said, if nothing happens to America at this point, God is going to owe an apology to Sodom and Gomorrah.

I had a Breitbart comment once that took off like that but apparently enough people complained so they took down the comment.
(I had a few thousand ups at the time)
I was very shocked especially at Breitbart (it was before Disqus took over) and have never trusted them since.
THR being a tabloid in HOLLYWOOD strikes me as being vulnerable to some claiming that the comment is offensive somehow or violates some clause in the EULA and will close the comments or take the comment off.
We'll see.

After careful research, it looks like anyone can "Upvote" to support Phil without being registered.
I know, because it took my votes as fast as I could hit the button. Must have personally racked up at least 75 yes votes myself.
BUT...to vote No, or downvote, one must be registered.

Most Christians (and phil did it too) make the statement that they hate the act but not the actor. (hate the sin not the sinner)
In fact being Homosexual is NOT a sin. It's the consummation of the homosexual act that is the sin.
That's why you hear about someone gay being employed by the Church and then when they go active publicly, are fired.
No gay person has anything to fear from the majority of Christians (I'd watch out for the musloids though).

I do know that when I click the up again the down vote disappears and if I click up again, my up vote disappears but no down vote. (which makes sense in case someone didn't want to vote either way after voting one way or another)
Since your so concerned about this, I'd take a closer look at what's happening because your javascript may be doing this.
You may be getting an up vote showing but if you click reload, the total doesn't reflect what you clicked. That could happen depending on what vers javascript you have and what's running on disqus.
Either way? It doesn't bother me if you can click it up till the cows come home.
But you have to ask yourself, why would disqus or THR allow this to happen?
is it some sort of anti gay conspiracy?

No no no, can't have the Billionaire be black, that would make him an evil 1%er. Gotta be the perfessor who's black, since he will basically be a stand-in for Obama.

Gilligan will be black or either Mary Ann or Ginger will be a lesbian.

See, I was figuring Gilligan would be gay (Sheldon Cooper), Ginger will be black with bright red dyed hair (probably Beyonce)

But, Ace... this way they know who isn't a terrorist. I mean, come on... how can you be sure you're not a terrorist until they check your stuff? Now you know you don't have some shady pal named Abdul. This is like a cool app, bro.

This is why they are adamant about getting the data. Whether or not they would ever be able to stop an attack without more direct info beforehand than they had before 9/11 is unclear, but it's why they want it.

Now, that's not nothing at all, but that is a far, far cry from "prevented terrorist attacks." If it requires spying on everyone to establish a few negative propositions, then this program requires far, far too much.
yeah but are they "Poised" to stop some terror attacks?
