Obama: Benghazi Controversy Is a "Sideshow;" "There Is No There There"
— Ace

President Obama delivered a defiant defense Monday of his administration's response to the Benghazi terror attack, calling the revived controversy over the matter a "sideshow."

...

"There's no there there," Obama said.

The president, with his comments, echoed remarks made by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who asked during testimony in January "what difference" did the controversy over the talking points make.

You've got one group blaming Conservatives (or at least lamenting that it gives us "a talking point").

You've got another group saying, "Yeah, this is bad- but Hillary's already gone.  Oh well, what are you going to do?"

And you've got a third group saying, "Oh, we're missing the *real story* here.  The real story is [something other than the real story]."

111 Now what do you suppose took this collection of treasonous son of a bitches so long to organize this circus?

They all have to have time to cover their arses, compare notes, figure how to spin and extrapolate this debacle, so they all have an opportunity to come up smelling like roses.

Besides, no one in this entire government, not a single person, is guilty of treason, or murder, or conspiracy, or various high crimes, or even a lowly felony, never mind worthy of impeachment, or even heaven forbid, moral bankruptcy.

They all took notes from what happened to Nixon. You know Nixon's impeachment was legally based on using the IRS to shakedown his competition. Obama and Hillary used murder.

Impeachment?
Pleaaaase!

I mean, after all what does it matter?

The rule of law is such a foreign concept to these clowns they live in an entirely separate country.

That four American's where murdered in the cause of the long march of the Marxist collection of power?

Ah that's just warming up for these tyrants.

In that light, we got a nasty little pickle smooching radical chic commie loving Islamist usurper in that big white house. Surrounded by a court of red diaper babies all itchin' to emulate the infamous Marxist and fascist perpetrators of genocide the 20th century is known for. Hey, killing to advance the agenda is par for the course. Murder, getting away with it is the ultimate thrill for these psychopaths. Think of the personal power this brings to one, to take life in the name of a better cause. For these megalomaniacs it is the highest calling and the ultimate status symbol you belong to a select few who not just get away with it, but enable this tyranny to prosper.

In regards to that circus of spineless useful idiots called congress, what else is one to expect from all that morally corrupt scum in that cesspool on the Potomac?

You know where this is all going to lead?
It is going to lead to rubbing our noses in the omnipotence of their power. The Amerikan Nomenklaturer is probably already laughing in our faces.

Would you like me to show you a map, Mr. Preezy?   I can circle    Benghazi, and then I can circle Italy, and then I can circle Washington DC, and I can write charts and graphs and explanatory paragraphs in language that even a    feeble-minded cretin like you could     comprehend    about how these places relate to what happened that September night last year.         Would that help you identify the "there" there?   Because I assure you that Benghazi is a real place, and our military resources in Italy are in a real place, and the "red phone" in your office is    certainly in a real place, and the bodies of four Americans have been buried in real places,   where they've been mourned by their very real family members, no thanks to you and your lies.   And   the    hapless filmmaker who you and your cronies accused of inciting the violence is still rotting in prison.   Would you like me to mark that location on the map, too?

Or perhaps you'd prefer if I labeled Las Vegas, which is where you attended a fundraiser even as Ambassador Steven's dead body was being paraded through the streets of Libya?  Oh, sorry.   Being "taken to the hospital" by "helpful" citizens.

Or maybe you'd like me to circle New York City, where you joined    Jay-Z and Beyonce for a swinging shindig that evening, after your     Vegas campaign jaunt.    You had pyramids of champagne, as I recall.   There were pictures.   I can send them to you, if you're having trouble remembering.

It seems to me that there are many   "theres" there for you to investigate,    most exalted Preezy.    I have to wonder    why you'd say there isn't.   Why, it's almost like you're trying to hide something.

Pretty standard with Socialist movements.  The more of a true believer you are, the more likely you are to end up murdered by Leftists (often via firing squad...).  The French Revolution is the classic example, but it occurs whenever these movements start to get some real power.

It was Rove who shaped the agenda, message and strategy that got Bush–the least experienced presidential nominee of modern times–into the White House. Now it is Rove’s job to keep him there through 2008.

There's "there there" if you were related to the people who got killed alright.

There's "there, there" no matter what.  It's a statement only a President who was sure of a supportive and covering Media would ever dare utter.

There's "there, there" when you consider that our Ambassador was killed.  There's "there, there" when you consider that we had several weeks of forewarning.  There's "there, there" when you consider that the consulate did not meet State Department minimum security standards- a lack which could only have been signed-off on by the Secretary of State, and which decision would not have been made without the the knowledge and (at least tacit) approval of the President.  There's "there, there" when you consider that the President and everyone in his cabinet lied about the attack specifically so they didn't have to address their foreign policy failures right before a Presidential election.

160 "There is no there there" means nothingness.  It doesn't exist.  There's nothing to it.

A famous quote from Gertrude Stein, who is credited with the phrase: (from wikipedia)

Along with a "A rose is a rose is a rose," "there is no there there" is one of Gertrude Stein's most famous and memorable quotes. It appears in Gertrude Stein, Everybody's Autobiography (Random House 1937, p 289) and is often applied to the city of her childhood, Oakland, California. Defenders and critics of Oakland have debated what she really meant when she said this in 1933 after coming to San Francisco on a book tour. She took a ferry to Oakland to visit the farm she grew up on, and the house she lived in near what is now 13th Avenue and E. 25th Street in Oakland. The house had been razed and the farmland had been developed with new housing in the 3 decades since her father had sold the property and moved closer to the commercial hub of the neighborhood on Washington Street (now 12th Avenue). Here is what she wrote:

She took us to see her granddaughter who was teaching in the Dominican convent in San Raphael, we went across the bay on a ferry, that had not changed but Goat Island might just as well not have been there, anyway what was the use of my having come from Oakland it was not natural to have come from there yes write about it if I like or anything if I like but not there, there is no there there.

...but not there, there is no there there. ... Ah Thirteenth Avenue was the same it was shabby and overgrown. ... Not of course the house, the house the big house and the big garden and the eucalyptus trees and the rose hedge naturally were not there any longer existing, what was the use ...

This man, and his "friends" are destroying our constitutional republic every day that they remain in power... and RINOs are turning a blind eye to this (or coming our with some really weak assed statements).

I don't watch her show, and I think she doesn't usually cover political stuff, but that really is about as good a summary as I've seen. I think I would quibble with her on one minor point, and there's certainly more that could be added, but 12 minutes is a long time, and all of it, except the first half-minute, for my taste, was riveting.  Plus, it's really so refreshing that she doesn't mince words.

273 The president continued, "Keep in mind by the way these so-called talking points that were prepared for Susan Rice, five, six days after the event occurred, pretty much matched the assessments that I was receiving at that time in my presidential daily briefing."

So, the President is setting up the people who prepare the PDBs to take the fall. This is an interesting spin on the classic Shultz defense of "I know nozing"; the "They was lying to me!" corollary.

Since he has publicly announced what was in those PDBs the classified parts of them can be redacted and we can all see exactly what he heard - so that we'll know who precisely was to blame for the 'youtube video' lie. I guess the President's claim is that lie was originated by the CIA?
