Obama, The Noxious Liar, at 39% Approval
— Ace

It's not a new low -- he had some bad months mid-2011 -- but it is a recent low.

Furthermore, I think this time it will stick. Because his personal favorability is now also underwater.

And with the news each day about his Gigantic Lies in Service of His Gigantic Incompetence, this stuff is going to hang around long enough to make an impression.

The old take was that, no matter how bad Obama was doing, he was a Nice Man who was Trying to Do the Right Thing. His serial lying and new round of serial lying to explain his past lies (which I'll link next post, even though you now all know about it) obliterates the Nice Man who Is Trying to Do The Right Thing narrative.

He's not just a failure anymore; he's a dishonest, shifty politician who lies to the American people -- and hurts them! -- to get what he wants.

And then who, having lied about just about everything, also fails.

In case you missed it on the last thread,  it gets even better - Kathy and the Clown Posse have declared that the exchanges aren't a "Federal Health Care" system, so now they are exempt from anti-kickback laws:

...but the Obama administration has ruled that neither the federal insurance exchange nor the federal subsidies paid to insurance companies on behalf of low-income people are “federal health care programs.”
The surprise decision, disclosed last week, exempts subsidized health insurance from a law that bans rebates, kickbacks, bribes and certain other financial arrangements in federal health programs, stripping law enforcement of a powerful tool used to fight fraud in other health care programs, like Medicare.
The main purpose of the anti-kickback law, as described by federal courts in scores of Medicare cases, is to protect patients and taxpayers against the undue influence of money on medical decisions...

30 515% of the US gets "benefits" of some kind (i.e. is dependent on government handouts)/ Yet only 39% approve of the hander-outer. That means 14% of the country who are on the Free Stuff bandwagon STILL hate Obama. Now that's must be a record. Give people free stuff and they still hate you. Up until now it was assumed that only Romney's 53% must be hatin' on Obama. But this poll (combined with the earlier 51% on welfare poll) shows that Obama has industrial-strength dislikeability.

54 You know, I have to believe that they actually expected this - is there any other reason not to have implemented the ACA until after Obama would never appear on a ballot again?

And if it isn't obvious yet, the individual mandate is the canary in the coalmine - as we all know, the employer mandate will result in exponentially more cancellations of "healthcare plans and doctors that you like." The GOP has to get out there now making this prediction over and over - Obama and his minions now lack the credibility to refute it with more empty promises.

Well, hopefully that means that it will last for a long, long time - God willing, through the next two elections. We have GOT to get enough people riled up and angry enough to vote as many of these weasels out of office - and replace them with strong conservatives - to be able to effect some real change.Otherwise, this "grand experiment' is doomed.

From your keyboard to God's IPad.

The one nice thing about this  is, we don't have to do   anything. All these cancellation notices are doing what we couldn't do,  essentially delivering a personal, engraved notice of  Failure of Socialism  to mailboxes all over the fruited plain.

She kind of agrees with me on the risks of world war III from his presidency, is momentarily pissed off at the use of IRS, OSHA, EPA etc to go after political opponents, was mad about Benghazi and disgusted by Fast & Furious when these things were hot, but the family vacays while the rest of us suffer through the Obama Endless Summer Of Recovery  well and truly makes her crazy.

143 Seriously, as Mark Dice proves with his Santa Monica Pier videos, you can ask people to "approve" of the more horrifying things, and a good chunk of them will say "yes. He walks around with petitions to (for example) "institute a Nazi-like police state" and seemingly gets about 50% of passersby to sign it. Considering that, it's no surprise Obama is still up at 39%. You could do a telephone poll and ask "Do you approve of hammering a nail into your forehead?" and you'd probably get at least a 20% "yes" response.

If you misrepresent what's in this plan, we will call you out. Will Obama call out fellow Democrats who helped push a lie to the American people in order to get Obamacare passed? Doubt it.

159 >>>It's not a new low -- he had some bad months mid-2011 -- but it is a recent low

Actually, it's probably a new low.  Harry Enten pointed this out on Twitter: Gallup's polling methodology in the run-up to 2012 was wildly off in terms of its demographic sampling (remember how they had Romney way out ahead of Obama whilst everyone else correctly had him behind?), which means that they were oversampling demos unfriendly to Obama.  That almost certainly means that those 38% marks Obama received in late 2011 from Gallup were inaccurate, and he was more likely in the low-to-mid 40s in the real world.

Gallup altered their methodology significantly in the aftermath of the 2012 elections, and in a way that empirically seems to have improved its accuracy (measured against other polls, at least).  So I'd wager that this 39%, with a much more minority/youth-heavy sample than Gallup was using back in 2011, is actually the lowest point of his entire Presidency.

To elevate this Power, to a Right, is to give it WAY too much validity.

204 Being perceived to be doing a bad job but at the same time being someone people thought they could hang out with and was "one of us" is one thing. That was where Obama was in late 2009 and to Mid 2013. It's another when people think you suck at your job AND you suck as a person. Very rare to see favorables go back up after they've gone underwater. People can be convinced your doing a better job, but harder to convince them you've become a better person. O's positive favorables were always his strongest suit and now that that's gone, I doubt you see the kind of polling bump you saw from Fall 2011 (went down to 42% in RCP after the Credit downgrade) to Election day 2012 (got up to 50% in RCP and won w/ 51% of the vote). That means a good 2014 for the red team as Buyer's Remorse Part 2 continues to strike the Country. The shutdown further hurt the GOP brand but the GOP brand has been hurting since late 2005 and they managed to have taken back the House and be w/ in striking distance of taking the Senate as well. Timing is a bitch in regards to O not being THIS vulnerable last year but his party will hurt if these numbers hold come one year from today.

Down here in FL something likewise happened to Alex Sink, the Dem candidate for Gov in 2010, in regards to getting caught cheating in the debates...on tape. Really hurt her and it only hurt her more when she told everyone what happened on the tape didn't happen. Same thing here with O.

280 "Unfortunately some very severe pain has to come in order for that inauguration to be someone other than Hillary or a worse socialist like Warren or Booker"

The GOP needs to already be out attacking Hillary's image (which has been cratering in the polls btw). Next to her the Dems really have no one. I don't think Warren has enough appeal to be elected against what should be a better crop of GOP candidates then we've seen in recent primaries, Booker's image took a hit in his underwhelming win against little backed Lonegan, and Biden just shouts a reason for O's sycophants who only voted in 2008 and 2012 to have a reason not to come out and vote. Historically, especially in the post-FDR/Truman era, the Country is wary of giving the WH back to a party who's had it for 2 terms. Since WWII only 1988 is the exception. There is reason to be optimistic about 2016.

Posted by: The Former Moron, AuthorLMendez at November 05, 2013 10:21 AM (yAor6)

281 Maybe I'm a cockeyed optimist here, but the fact that their anointed one has proven himself to be just as venally opportunistic as any other democrat politician on the planet might tend to turn a lot of lefties into cynics. Cynicism often leads to disillusionment, and it certainly can lead to a party/philosophical shift. For the record, it was this kind of disillusionment that led me off the democrat reservation back during the Clinton years. I don't know if the dems understand how badly obama has damaged their party brand. He's done something even Clinton didn't accomplish with all his years of lying, but obama actually is hurting people.

297 It's not just the employer shitstorm coming our way next year. The Obamacare shit sandwich has some interesting wrinkles that are going to further infuriate people. 1) The high deductibles. Lots of LIV voters are going to get their subsidized premiums, and think their healthcare is free. Whoops, aside from your basic checkup, if you need any real treatments, prepare to shell out a couple grand. 2) Doctors and hospitals are demanding more patients to pay their full deductible up front for surgery. They will surely do this more for the high deductible Obamacare plans. So, prepare to shell out a couple grand up front if you want your healthcare, even if you are Obamacare insured. 3) The restricted coverage networks for Obamacare. Many of the plans have NO out of network coverage. Sure if you have a pre-existing condition they have to insure you, but that doesn't mean you will get access to the doctors and hospitals that are best equipped to deal with your health issue. The burned hand teaches best. Lots of lessons are going to be taught in the next year...

He'll blame TOTUS, his speech writer. It is a relief to find that even his most ardent supporters are experiencing shock 'n awe from ACA. At least the majority of people who voted for Bozo are angry with him. ACA belongs to Congressional Democratic Party Majority Leaders Pelosi and Reid. They literally locked out Republican members of committees from attending meetings during the legislative process, and denied Republican legislators time on the Floors for speeches on the health care bill except after hours during the night on C-SPAN. That the Congressional Republican Leadership have cow towed to ACA "the law of the land" proves that they despise our US Constitution, our American citizenry and tax payers, and want to personally thrive on the authoritarian means of profit, dictating who may breath what. They are gung ho composing amnesty comprehensive immigration legislative reform right now. That of itself deserves a thread...protestation before rather than waiting until after the bill is written, voted and signed into law.

319 319. So if the company finds that you own or have possession of a firearm, they can deny you coverage and nullify your policy.

I know that thing was a failure.  Among other things, it reduced the number of actual, perfectly serviceable used cars available.  Have you seen the prices of used cars lately?

322 I agree with EC. I think the number is lower. Pravda media and pollsters just prop Obama up artificially.

323 But I don't think I'll ever get why Charlie Brown has a dildo. LOL. Me either and I don't want to know. TMI ;^)

324 So if the company finds that you own or have possession of a firearm, they can deny you coverage and nullify your policy. Well for us, they nullify your employment but, a lot of the memo was about ratting out any customers you might suspect are packing, even if they have a permit.

325 They all ride on Obama's coattails. But his coattails are now covered in horse dung.

I predict every vulnerable Dem in a non-gerrymandered seat will run AWAY from Obama and OCare.

They'll fail, and lose anyway, but they'll try to run away from being associated with him.

Yet he sticks like glue. Too bad.

Dear Mr. President, welcome to the "new normal".  Glad you could join us.

327 36% is a critical 2nd term average. I suspect that a lot of the people that are now beginning to lose their health insurance as a result of Obama's socialized medicine are looking back at Bush 2's second term as the good 'ol days.

328 He's not just a failure anymore; he's a dishonest, shifty politician who lies to the American people -- and hurts them! -- to get what he wants. It's not the eternal failure of our ideology whenever implemented in practice; it's that we were deceived by this snake-of-an-actual-moderate-Republican in prog clothing.
