20 Look at the message directing the user to refer to the reference ID. That ID is 30 characters long. Nobody with an ounce of system design knowledge would feature ID's that long for a confused user. Imagine the time it will take over the phone for the user to correctly repeat those numbers and for the phone assistant to repeat them. This is a small tell into the viability of the Obamacare user interface.

29 People here are confused about how the various plans actually work.

Let me help you.

The proper way to deal with this is to do nothing and pay the tax penalty. If you have a catastrophic illness or injury, ask the people in the ER for a Gold plan application, and pay one month on the spot. Pay one month at a time until you recover, and then stop paying.

Simple.

And yes, it will break the nation's back, financially.

Enjoy the Decline!

I think this ties in nicely with the shutdown.  People will ask "Why does this healthcare thing suck so badly?"  and notice that the GOP was trying to stop it, and put two and two together.

Dick Morris was saying not to shut the government down now, but to wait -- what, 2 weeks?? -- for the debt ceiling fight.

Why?  We can't do both?  Shut it down over every crap thing the democrats are doing.

SEOUL (Reuters) - The U.S. government shutdown will undermine American credibility abroad and lead allies to question its commitment to treaty obligations, the U.S. defense chief warned on Tuesday as he prepared to put 400,000 civilian workers on unpaid leave.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, who was visiting South Korea to celebrate the two nations' 60-year-old mutual defense treaty, said Pentagon lawyers were analyzing a new law passed by Congress to see if additional civilian workers could be spared unpaid leave.

The voters don't remember squat from more than 6 months before the election.  By the time of the next election, ObamaCare will either (by some miracle) been defunded, or it will be an unmitigated disaster. By then, looking back and saying that the Republicans tried to shut it down, and even shut down the govt in the attempt, might look pretty good for them, no matter what they people right now. Acting on principle is the long game.

A lot of the Republican pundits who are critical are, no doubt, like Krauthammer, who admitted that he believes that the govt should provide health care as part of its welfare system.  I'm very disappointed in the usually brilliant Mr. K.

From the site: ----------------- 'Starting 2014, most people must have health coverage or pay a fee (the “individual shared responsibility payment”). Secondly, only Socialist bureaucrats could come up with the name "individual shared responsibility payment". How chillingly 1984-ish is that?

365 "I say we prove Ace wrong by refusing to click over into the HQ until 9:30 Eastern- no HQ until the Dump is up."

Done.

366 "I think it's about time to lobby ace to ban Gabe." Ace has repeatedly said that he has his own reasons for keeping Gabe on. So just ignore the guy's posts. Head straight for Vic's comments. Tune in at a later hour. Whatever.

367 Re: National Park Police - Had a work friend whose husband works for National Park Police, and apparently they are responsible for every little park in DC (like MacPherson Square park). This means they have to patrol this patchwork of territory throughout the city. A lot of the stuff they're doing is drug deal busts, etc. since a lot of DC crime spills over into these little parks.

369 As we speak, millions of Americans are being told lies about how the Republican Shutdown is causing the Obamacare website glitches.  Well done, Republicans.  Your political instincts and timing couldn't be more perfect.  And by "well done, Republicans," I mean "FUCK YOU, ASSHOLES."  Way to make these incompetent liberal psychopaths look reasonable.

370 Regarding the photoshop image, in these times using modern aircraft, Harry is useless; there are no flight engineers.

378 Another note - I'm not a Jr, but they won't let me say I'm the "II" of my name. That will undoubtedly fuck something up. Thanks, top men!

379 Heard inside healthcare.gov's IT dept: Curly: Hey Moe! You forgot to change the DNS to point to the prod system! Moe: You knucklehead! The DNS is pointing to the prod. Someone put the test deployment on the prod servers! Larry: Shemp told me to run "init 1" on the server and now I can't connect. What's "init 1" do? Moe: Numbskull! Go manually reset the server! Curly: I wonder what this does! sudo "rm -rf /*" Moe: NOOOOO!

380 Quick!  This ACA is going to crash and burn and be a huge fustercluck!  Democrats and Obama will be blamed totally since it passed without a single Republican vote!

We have to save them somehow!  Get Cruz out there to make a speech!  Pass a delay!  Shut down the government over it!  Anything to save Obama and the Democrats!

Nice job, Zippy and the Pinheads.
