Of Course: Obama Delivers an Obamacare Tax Break to His Union Pals, While Increasing the Tax on Those Not Excepted
— Ace

It's my nature, said the socialist cronyist Chicago pol scorpion.

From the Washington Examiner:

The shift will raise the cost of the tax for those who do pay to $44 a year. It had previously been $42. In essence, the change is forcing those who donÂ’t get the exception to pay an extra $2 for those who do.

Obama acts quickly to spare his union buddies a $42 per year tax, but meanwhile intends the non-union middle class to pay up to $10,000 more per year for insurance. And offers them no exception at all.

Here is a preview of what 2015 will look like if the GOP wins the senate. "A Republican lawmaker running for Senate in Georgia is calling for improvements to ObamaCare, breaking with his party's proclaimed policy to simply let the law self-destruct. Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) on Monday questioned whether the Republican tactic to let the law fail was "responsible," and touted a bill he proposed to fix a portion of the law as a path forward on ObamaCare."

80 Doesn't the Constitution specifically state that taxes are to be levied uniformly, as in, Congress and the executive cannot specify groups or persons to be hit by, or exempted from taxes? Vagueness is ok, as in, if you make below a certain amount you pay nothing, if you make over a certain amount you pay more. But specifically exempting those who sport a union membership sounds pretty unconstitutional to me after Obamacare was ruled to be a tax... Oh right, that shit don't matter no more.

84 re 45: well, Moo Moo, there's your answer. The party is still controlled by people who think that in 2010 "the Republicans won" not "the Republicans won because of the tea party people." It's unfortunate that the party is still controlled by people who would rather be in charge of the minority party than take a back seat to others in the majority party; who are more concerned with how they appear in the MSM than how they appear to the base (unlike the Dems, the Repub base is full of people who don't want to be told what to think); and who sometimes think that (in some variation) socialism (or whatever it's called this year) is inevitable so there's no reason to do more that try to slow it down a little.

Bob Dole was the kind of old Repub who thought it was a great victory if the Repub minority prevented the Dems from raising taxes as much as they wanted to. There are still too many of his kind around.

And for a lot of voters, the news on the MSM must be true, because why would they lie to us..?

ugh, I gotta actually do work now.

Posted by: Mr. Moo Moo at November 27, 2013 08:13 PM (0LHZx)

Bullshit.  He's stupid and he's protected by a palace guard that is stronger and more dishonest than Pravda and the soviets could ever have imagined.  He isn't particularly lucky, either.  Witness 404Care's utter failure.   He does illegal shit all the time, and has people in the press who've dug up the dirt on all of his political enemies who are just as dishonest as he is who are willing to destroy anyone who balks at his lawlessness.

He's going down hard in the next year.  Count on it.  And it ain't going to be just on Reggie.

So yes, it's fucking brilliant politically speaking for the long term. Dems may lose 2014. But they've created millions of new life long Democrats, all paid for with higher taxes (via higher premiums) on Republicans.

148 Obama acts quickly to spare his union buddies a $42 per year tax, but meanwhile intends the non-union middle class to pay up to $10,000 more per year for insurance. And offers them no exception at all. See, this is why I don't comment much about politics any more. Anything I could say to that would either get me banned, or else hauled off into prison.

Posted by: rickl at November 27, 2013 05:16 PM (sdi6R)

149 It is nice that he has set the precedent that the president can set what the union fee will be by fiat.  I suggest the next Republican president set it at $5000 per individual and make them go through the courts to get it repealed.  Everyone who has benefited under this administration must be punished under the next or there will be lessons learned.

Then maybe a truce can be declared and we can go back to the rule of law.

Posted by: Thatch at November 27, 2013 05:21 PM (qYvEa)

150 In essence, the change is forcing those who donÂ’t get the exception to pay an extra $2 for those who do. Since it's two bucks, no one is going to care, because for much of the public, principles only mean something if a sum of money they're not comfortable with will be taken as a result.

157 The Democrats are going to wish it was 2010.  This sort of stuff is going to make a difference, especially for Democrats in deep red states, and 2014 is going to be ugly.

Unless the GOP nominates a bunch of Senators that want to talk about rape babies and birth control, Reid is going to lose his place and an ObamaCare repeal is going to have to be vetoed by Obama.  Repeatedly.  And it's only going to piss more and more voter off into 2016.
