Oh Dear: Kathleen Sebelius Does Photo-Op to Show How Well Healthcare.gov is Working; System Goes Down As She's Talking to Navigator
— Ace

Stay with the report to see how many people actually managed to sign up Obamacare, even with the aid of navigators.

I'll put the answer in white font if you just want the answer without the hoopety doo and much ado:

Two.

That's from the Free Beacon. Also check out this clip, in which Comically Evasive Mouthpiece Jay Carney fields a question about the "Obamacare success story," personally hailed by Obama, who now turns out to not be able to afford Obamacare's sky-high premiums at all.

He says he's "reaching out to her" to make sure she "understands her options." So, like, she's dumb.

Jay Carney embarrassing himself is not even dog-bites-man at this point. It's dog-bites-dogfood.

I posted this this morning on the Headline thread, so I'll put it here, too, since it's the same topic.

CBS Local, Miami: http://tinyurl.com/mqjbmkc

MIAMI (CBSMiami)    Seven weeks to the day since the troubled healthcare.gov website was launched, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius was in Miami, meeting with so-called  "navigators"   who are helping the public get signed up for coverage.

...

At a second table, the secretary met Carmen Salero who was trying to sign up online. As the secretary and Salero made small talk, CBS4's    Brian Andrews noticed the site crash on the lap top in front of them.

"The screen says   I'm sorry but the system is temporarily down,"    Andrews pointed out.

"Uh oh,"    responded the secretary.

"That happens every day,"   said Salerno.    "It must mean a lot of people are on there trying to get coverage."

*rolling eyes* Yeah, that's it, Carmen. That's the ticket.

Meanwhile...

Nick Bianchi, who owns a Social Media Consulting firm on Miami Beach, was selected by HHS to meet the secretary personally based on what he posted on Twitter about his positive experience during the sign up process.

"I selected a silver plan,"  Nick said.   "The website didn't work for me so I ended up waiting on papers from the provider I selected."    Nick told the secretary his new plan, effective January 1st, will run a little more than $300.00 a month.   "Hearing your situation is really helpful,"   the secretary told Bianchi.

Oh, that's a positive experience, Nick? The site did jackshit for you so you went the paper route   direct with the insurer?    Oh, okay.

The story is clearly supposed to be about how great it was that Sebelius was in Miami to visit with people working with the site, but it's laughably bad.

If it's a payoff, then they've run this play before.

During the 2008 campaign, several people figured out that if they could get their hands on the mic at a townhall or event with TFG present, they could relay their sob story about not having a car, a house, a job, or money and then things would happen and they were given whatever they wanted.  More than a few people made the connection, and the TFG team stopped having open mics at all their events.

I used to have to demonstrate software during presentations at developer conferences, there's not a more awful feeling then standing up in front of a thousand software developers and having what you are demo'ing fail. That's when you have to switch to the stupid patter "well, if this was working you would see blah blah" while you are gesticulating wildly to the tech on the sidelines to do something. It helped at the time I was doing this that I was fairly attractive so I could usually smile winningly and step away from the podium so my boobs could serve as a distraction.

103 this is all funny...but my health insurance is cancelled come February next year and I'm certain I am screwed. Total failure of Obamacare doesn't help me cover my kids. Shitty thing is I was paying a reasonable premium all on my own. Now I'll be eligible for a subsidy and my share still is increased. There is nothing Affordable about it. I'd sure love to see some real market based solutions proposed from the geniuses in the GOP. We cant get Obama to sign them, but we can show the world that there is an answer based on competitive free market.

No.

The first two I remember was a young fry cook named Julio who wanted to be a radio DJ and he was stoked to personally meet TFG.  The next was an older black woman who needed "reliable transportation" (i.e. a new car) and a house because she was homeless.

In both instances, people in the audience or behind the scenes stepped up afterwards to figure out a way to placte these people because they knew the media were going to follow up on these poor slobs and what became of them.  You can see why Team TFG stopped with the open mics.  It was basically a free-for-all if you could get to the mic and start crying on cue.

116 She says only 11% of all engineers are women. While it's well-known there are fewer women in tech, a lot of programs aiming to fix the problem focus on college or high school students. Sterling believes the issue begins much earlier.

Broadening children's interests doesn't mean girls shouldn't aspire to be feminine. GoldieBlox, which makes interactive games, uses a cute blonde as its logo. But her blonde isn't a Barbie who sits around and waits for Ken. It's a blonde who is building cool things.

Sterling's realization isn't ground-beaking, but her video about it has hit a nerve. It was posted two days ago on YouTube and currently has more than 3 million views. Its mission is to make the pink shelf in toy stores less pink.

163 I really do think this Washington lady is a perfect case study in the complexity of this law (And complexity is bad.) according to reports she makes 316% of the poverty level. In theory people are eligible for subsidies up to 400% of poverty level, but she's doesn't get any. (And the Kaiser Family foundation estimator agrees with that number.) Near as I can tell the 400% number is actually bullshit, in reality you're only eligible if a silver plan would cost more than 9.5% of your AGI (which, BTW is still a metric fuckton of money, not that I want to increase subsidies, but just pointing out, YIKES.) Then there's the mess with Medicaid and her son, which honestly I suspect is just states trying to inflate their Medicaid roles for 3 years (while the feds are paying for it) then they'll do audits and kick people off. Meanwhile though, we really do need to consider this, even at 300% poverty level, she's still making more or less 42-45K. (316% puts her just under 50k.) That's larger than the median income in the US. Do we really think that people who (by the numbers) are solidly middle class should be on a social welfare program? My answer is no, but I'm a heartless bastard according to several people.

175 Ok, something that has been bugging me for a while now. (Maybe slightly OT, but I can never get into these threads in a timely fashion.) One of the upsides of obamacare which its supporters tout is that it will force the so-called freeloaders to take responsibility and pay for their own health care (instead of abusing emergency room care and thus driving up healthcare costs for all of us). OK. But one of the arguments they use to continue their support is to say, hey these super-high premiums that we keep hearing about are false, because many enrollees will qualify for substantial government subsidies. So I don’t get it. It’s BAD if we have to pay higher premiums to cover “freeloaders” but GOOD if we have to pay higher premiums to cover subsidies? Now her family is saying the cops told her to back off. But supposedly there were witnesses that back up Winston. How are there witnesses? Was this some sort of public sex at a party thing where the girl may or may not have been drunk and may or may not have consented to doing something incredibly degrading in public? Tried to get the facts but all the reports seem to be dancing around the question of what even is alleged to have happened. Confused.

So it wend kinda like this: 1) Beat the cost per reaction for my current vendor by at least 10% and 2) provide a guarantee that if any of my reagents come up short (i.e. not enough solutions to use the entire kit) you'll provide makeup stock at no cost. (My current vendor's wash solution always came up short because it was alcohol based and they gave you exactly enough for the kit size and never accounted for evaporation during use.) They agreed, I was happy, my boss was happy. (The kit was a DNA extraction kit and it also took less time to run than the my current one, so I was also happy.)

They collaborated in this piece of crony fascism and they know Republicans really hate them for it. Some companies, like AARP, probably shouldn't survive the fall of ZeroCare (if there is any justice in this). Taking advantage of game theory says that Rubio is again on exactly the wrong path with his stiff statement yesterday that there will be "no bail outs" for any insurance companies. What he should do instead is propose the "Post ObamaCare Act" and in that, offer a one year transitional bail out for the first insurance companies to abandon ZeroCare but to no others. Read the article; its pretty good.

This administration's been nothing but crooks, cronies, and crackpots from Day One. Our 'independent' press spent 24x7 changing their f'in Depends right through the 2012 election, but it's finally leaked down their leg and the public's finally got a little - only a little - whiff of what these people really are.

If we'd had an honest media this guy would never have been elected, and if they'd been even halfway honest he'd have been washed out in 2012.
