On Guns and Presidential Anger
— Slublog

Bumped. With all the rapid-fire stuff this week, @slublog's excellent essay only got like 45 minutes at the top.

...

Charles C.W. Cooke is quickly becoming one of my favorite writers at NRO. See here, here and here for some reasons why. On twitter, he displays a similar talent for making coherent responses to lefty tweets. Such as this one, earlier today.

The tweet from Caldwell illustrates part of the reason I don't trust the left when it comes to issues related to the second amendment - most of their arguments are based in a combination of emotionalism and ignorance. I don't mean ignorance in the insulting sense, but the descriptive. They are ignorant about how guns work. They don't know the history or meaning of the second amendment. They have no idea how gun sales work, whether in a store or at a show. They do not understand why people would want to own a gun, and have no understanding of what it's like to live in rural America, where the police aren't just minutes away.

What makes it worse is that they don't seem to want to know. They are perfectly content in their little bubble of ignorance, speaking to each other in the language of cliche and falsehood. They use phrases like "gun show loophole," "assault weapon," and make utterly laughable statements about what weapons are legal and which are not and they believe their parade of nonsense justifies the limit of a freedom guaranteed by the constitution. They are eager to ban something they don't understand and have no intention of learning anything about.

This has been linked before, but for a thorough and excellent overview of guns and gun control, read this post by author, firearms instructor and former gun dealer Larry Correia. In it, he lays out the reasons why the left calls for gun control, then eviscerates those arguments with facts and reason.

Much has been written about the president's press conference/temper tantrum last night. In his statement, Obama showed why the left seems to have no interest in understanding guns, gun owners and gun culture. The reason is pretty simple: they hate us.

Go watch Obama's statement again - the utter contempt he displayed for those who have the audacity to claim a right protected by the constitution is breathtaking in its nakedness. It's tempting to believe liberal lawmakers don't like us having the ability to own guns because they don't think we can be trusted with them. That is part of it, but based on what we saw yesterday, that might be giving them too much credit.

When the left talks about gun owners, one of their favorite tactics is to make them seem like a strange species - an 'other.' Well, Obama 'otherized' the hell out of gun owners and second amendment advocates yesterday, refusing to even acknowledge their ability to make an argument in good faith and sneering at members of Congress for the earnest belief in the second amendment that influenced their votes against the gun control amendments.

Still, the president wasn't just angry because he lost. He was angry because he lost to people who hold an opinion he's unable and unwilling to understand and who he seems to regard as beneath him. Last night, Obama showed us the anger that lurks under the no-drama exterior and revealed what we on the right have known for years - he's thoroughly a man of the left, and shares the left's contempt for those who believe that the second amendment is not a collective right, but an individual right for a collective purpose - ultimately, the preservation of a "free state." Our belief in individual liberty makes us inconvenient, and our refusal to acquiesce to the Benevolent and All-Knowing, All Providing Nanny State makes us barriers to the goals of the left.

6 three miles away as the crow flies there was a home invasion robbery by four armed men taking a family hostage. I have had to call 911 twice in the last 20 years, each time it took 40 minutes for them to get here. This is in one of the richest counties in the US, on the outskirts of Washington DC. 8 What is so telling about dear leaders temper tantrum is that he is a lazy son of a bitch. What effort, what political capital did he spend in his quest to deny our right to bear arms? Had he put some effort into governing rather than campaigning the vote may have been different. So keep on the campaign trail Barry the mofo and stay away from governing.

28 "They are ignorant about how guns work. ... What makes it worse is that they don't seem to want to know." It's even worse than that. If you try to explain to a lefty gun-grabber the difference btw, say, a bolt-action rifle and a semi-auto, they will actually _contemptuously_ _mock_ your knowledge of the technology, as if it had no bearing on the topic other than as a distraction, an appeal to authority, or a show of superiority. All they know is that second-amendment supporters are evil, brainwashed by the NRA, and want to kill kids. No facts necessary.

I have no doubt having the House vote down the bill was part of his master plan to win back the House in '14, hang its failure around the necks of the GOP. . . but those darn bipartisan kids in the senate foiled him. I imagine that behind closed doors he looked much like Kevin Spacey in House of Cards, later in the season when his bill died, mwahaha.

But don't worry Obama! I have no doubt the House GOP will manage to hand you the Amnesty bill on a silver platter somehow, so there's that.

Posted by: LizLem at April 18, 2013 04:44 PM (8wqqE)

One; anyone seen any "Arab Street" video of anyone in the middle east rejoicing about the great Satan being bombed?  If not, are we all friends now? Or are we just seeing it?

No, they won't approve of a partition because their project is at its heart about domination not agreement. Further, those on the Left with enough intelligence not to believe their own scripts realize socialist countries don't last long without cart-pullers. They need the productive on the Right.

They overplay their hand when they forget the mantra "Slowly, slowly." That's been their usual mode, a successful one when employed. The problem this time is that the older, more devious Dem-Dems are dying off and petulant Man-King is their new ideal.

"MY WAY, NOW," doesn't have the subtle qualities of a soft-socialist strategy.

But seriously, here's my "big picture" argument.

America yawns at 200 dead in Fast and Furious.

Hundreds of thousands of illegals come across our border, many of whom join violent gangs that terrorize and murder our citizens. They overload our social system, engage in crime, and (if they work) don't pay taxes.

Nothing is done to stop this. No one in either party cares.

Meanwhile, I'm suppose to give up more of MY rights in the name of public safety and the welfare of children?

Really? But illegals get to just flout current law and wreak  havoc on our society?

Why? Because gun owners are politically disfavored? Because liberal pussies think guns are icky?

Well, fuck you. I'm not going to be treated like a fucking 2nd class citizen. People like me BUILT this country. I work hard, raise my kids right, pay my taxes, and don't fuck with my neighbors.

So kiss my fucking ass, you lying, hypocritical fucking FUCKS. This shit has NOTHING to do with protecting kids. If it did, we'd start with illegal fucking immigration and recquire a goddamned citizen background check on anyone trying to register their kids for school, buy a car, or apply for welfare bennies.

Nanny state is always tossed about, but that is not the right comparison.

When only the police have guns, it's called a police state.  More laws, more regulations, to entrap and entangle normal citizens.

Either crawl and submit, or live the life of an outlaw.  That is the stark dichotomy that the Left would like to inflict.  Whether you intellectually accept them or not is irrelevant.  What you must do is submit.  Submit and you may be allowed to keep some of your stuff.  Be an outlaw and risk losing everything.  They'll take your "stuff" because at heart all they are is materialists, and have little to no conception of the man or woman that has an "inner life".

And now trying to open the immigration floodgate is another move to devalue your birthright and your citizenship.

#62, weft-cut, wow, that is an outstanding pithy summary of things: "high-stakes statist super lotto".

As for the post, excellent.  But ......

I'm not sure about a pejorative vs. some other sense of  "ignorant" - sure, there are different situations and degrees, but in this case the pejorative tone is entirely justified.  Also, even knowledge of firearms would be unlikely to render these people practically intelligent, or sensible, or American, on the matter.

Not that an earlier period was some sort of golden era of everyday philosopher kings walking about, but the near complete disappearance of the ability to think critically, I think, is the single most important factor leading to all this borrowed trouble.  Try to engage a typical "intelligent, educated" NPR-listener type in some grown-up discussion on some topic of importance.  Hell, try it with many "conservatives".  No real understanding of any real subject, and no ability to think rationally and rigorously.  Logic?  Ha.  A festival of non sequitirs, appeals to authority (itself with a new twist, see below), ad hominems, myth-peddling/consuming, and amazing arrogance.

Can't really say I'm optimistic.  I'd say very few of even my cohort (mid-50s) could be accurately described as Americans, in any meaningful, substantive, and historical sense.   Point to an institution that isn't either completely collapsed or mostly compromised (folks, we live in a time when laughable Lysenkoist nonsense is allowed to determine our economic choices - AGW - and Big Science sits there, silent ..... the judiciary, on any matter constitutional, is comprised of average people who understand the constitution and a majority of ignorant, arrogant, authoritarian idiots and nutjobs who simply legislate from the bench, while beclowning themselves non-stop ..... and on, and on ..... to even the upper reaches of the military - Gen. Casey's stunning statement immediately following the Ft Hood terrorist attack - like so much else in the last 5-7 years, something anyone with experience and sense almost literally couldn't believe actually was said).

I think most "conservative" smarties - perhaps out of fear of facing the depths of our degradation - convince themselves that the Obamas, Murphys, Shumers, et al are actually intelligent people.  They are not.  Not in any practically meaningful sense.  They thrive in a culture/civil society that has been degraded almost beyond recognition by racism (now literally the basis of state policy, law, cultural sensibility), collapsed integrity (public service sector greed and arrogance), transformation of most of the media and academia into bizarre indoctrination tools for a mindset composed of ignorance, false knowledge, arrogance, and a terrifying authoritarian compulsion, and - just spitballing here - the seeming disappearance of able sensible people with any character or spine.

Oh, and my Unified Theory of Ignorant Authoritarian Degradation - these people (voters, the "president", all of them) are not just clueless about firearms.  They bring the same false understanding, ignorance, arrogance, and authoritarian compulsion to EVERY subject.  There are exceptions, people who are sensible and informed in one area, but idiots in others - but these are indeed exceptions.  Only the amazing wealth, security, and stability produced by the now crumbling miracle of America could produce conditions allowing such unfit, uninteresting, untalented people to not only survive, but even rise to positions of authority.  The irony, it burns, I believe is the expression .....

113 Late to the party as usual, but looking at a history of presidential 2nd terms, an event happens that causes the 2nd term to go in the toilet.  It may be Iran Contra (Reagan), Watergate (Nixon), Tet Offensive (Johnson), Clinton (Lewinsky), GW Bush (Katrina), etc. Even FDR wasn't immune with his failure to purge Dems opposing him and try to stack the Court.

This vote might be it and the collateral damage will probably be the touted immigration bill as well.  Combined with the failures of the Obamacare and a sick economy, popularity lost is not going to be regained.  Once Clinton went into scorched earth mode with the Lewinsky scandal--he accomplished nothing other than staying in office primarily because he burnt his bridges with the opposite party.  Nothing consequential got passed.

DC is a town that works on relationships and TFG doesn't have a good one with anyone on the Hill nor the Supremes even in his first term.  No one trusts him--Dems feel betrayed on the chained COLA's, Republicans have no trust at all.  This is not the recipe for a successful second term.

The problem is that freedom is not a "need".  That's why the left has no use for it.  Everything we call freedom is a WANT, not a NEED, and the constitution does not allow for the regulation of freedoms.  Liberals are trying to re-frame the entire American culture to be an experiment in filling needs rather than in protecting freedom.

Now consider that a slave that survives to the age of 80 years, obviously has all his "needs" met.  What he lacks are choices of his own.  Is a slave "selfish" for wanting freedom, as most liberals AND his slave master would charge?

We have 3-1/2 more years of Barack Obama.

This last episode was just his manic side coming out (again).  It will disappear down the Media Memory Hole.

There is no way that the majority of the Bullshit Media will ever admit that they might have erred in evaluating Obama, especially  if it means agreeing with any part of what conservatives think.

Although his behavior disturbs me, as this is no way for a President to act, I am fatigued with being outraged.  The man is a manic sociopath, with strong narcissistic tendencies.   And we're stuck with him, along with the lamest and most inarticulate Republican Party leadership possible  (although it has been bad in the past, or when was it ever good?).

If the Republicans could somehow articulate at least a few basic principles of government that illuminate why Obama is such a BAD president and stick to that story, there might be some hope in building some party credibility.    But that is not going to happen.

We are stuck in a dystopian night mare of what America has become and will become.  What a trainwreck.

"...Our belief in individual liberty makes us inconvenient, and our refusal to acquiesce to the Benevolent and All-Knowing, All Providing Nanny State makes us barriers to the goals of the left."

This starts to get at the heart of the matter, which I don't think is talked about nearly enough. The recent high-profile episodes are glaring, in-your-face examples - "proof positive", if you will - that "gun control" only succeeds in disarming law-abiding citizens, which is an immoral attack against their right to defend their own lives.

There is NO trade-off between personal freedom and public safety, and so there is NOTHING TO DEBATE. Even the events in Boston give a glaring example that citizens can not just sit back and have law enforcement guarantee their safety - law enforcement actively requested assistance from the public.

Any attempts to limit gun rights of law-abiding citizens is fascism, pure and simple ("statism" is actually the more correct word). If it is to be defeated it must be called out for what it is.

In the same vein, we have to stop referring to the "war on terror", which also does not name the enemy. The war is with Islamofascists, and we need to be aware that while not all Muslims are terrorists, a very large number are sympathetic with them - BECAUSE of their religious teachings.

177 I had a long conversation with a someone online who is a relatively new friend. She is very anti-second amendment and doesn't think private citizens should be allowed to own guns. In her case her dislike for guns stems from the fact that her nephew was murdered in the street in front of his house after telling three men to quiet down. The gun that was used was illegally obtained, which completely tosses out the window the whole idea that any gun law could have saved his life. I was especially respectful of her opinion and went out of my way not to belittle her arguments or do any self congratulatory back patting. I explained to her that no law would have saved the kids in Newton, and that laws banning gun ownership only take guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens. I discussed how we are our own keepers, gun safety and being smart about gun ownership starts in the home when it comes to avoiding accidents. I even went so far as to explain how the "for the children" argument can be used to strip away every right we have, and John Locke's concept of a social contract between a ruler and the ruled as justification for the second amendment. This was all to no avail sadly, as everything was pretty much answered with the response that we will all be safer without guns.

His contempt for a great swath of the American people is rooted in his borderline sociopathic personality.

It allows him to lie in a serial manner, and is one of the qualities that endears him to the Left.    They will continue to lie about what their true intentions are, yet the real world we live in is full of clues as to what they really think.

The whole charnel house of the Kermit Gosnell episode is simply a microcosm of how the  Left really believes aspects of society should function.  There really is no moral repugnance or gut-wrenching  revulsion as to what has been revealed here.  This will be a test as to just how far we are gone culturally.

There is an article linked by Instapundit today by Leon Kass in the WSJ.  It once again illustrates the gulf that separates normal Americans from the Left and their fellow travelers.

Obama and his fellows on the Left really do hate us,  it is not just a  figurative illumination to explain his occasional outbursts of revealed sociotpathy.

189 "...ultimately, the preservation of a 'free state.'" Well said. Occurs to me that the "free state" is the state of life in which free people desire to live, and do our very best to establish for ourselves and our descendents, distinct from Government, a burdensome necessity at best, also called "the State." "The State" must be constrained to preserve our personal and familial free state. Should it come to pass that "the State" becomes corrupted (by Statists) and oppositional to our free state, our premier Right is to change, or, if necessary, replace the government with a form reflecting our free state ideals. To replace the government is a last resort. Folks will put up with a lot in the hopes of changing a government for the better, but if change cannot be effected, eventually, the heap of pain motivates people desirous of a true free state to finally replace the government. The communities of the United States where our free state is still understood have tried to be patient with the tyrants, but, regrettably, it seems the time has come to create new alignments. The administration of the current President, and those in many governments, are replete with traitorous tyrants implementing despicable actions, every one of which is designed to create an absolute Tyranny over these communities and the suppression of the free state. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.... well, no need for that among this crowd.

191 I'm just completing a grammar class in college (and acing it, natch) so I thought I'd share from my textbook. "The absolute phrase (also known as the "nominative absolute") is a structure independent from the main sentence;(...) The absolute phrase introduces an idea related to the sentence as a whole, not to any one of it's parts:" It goes on with examples... I'll skip those. "Absolute phrases are of two kinds - with different purposes and different effects. (...) ...the first kind: the absolute that explains a cause or condition. (...) the absolute phrase could be rewritten as a "because, "when" or "since" clause:" The other type... "The absolute construction, on the other hand, leaves open the possibility for other reasons...." etc., "Perhaps the most famous absolute phrase is the one found in the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. And, as we know, it is open to more than one interpretation:" Ah hah! She had a point to this grammar nonsense. So is the absolute phrase (or "nominative absolute") in the 2nd Am. a phrase that "explains a cause or condition" or is it an "absolute construction?" And what does it mean if it's one or the other? If it is an absolute construction then "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state," leaves open the possibility of other reasons for the rest of it. The militia is just one possible reason for the right to bear arms. But if it's an absolute phrase that explains a cause or condition? What then? Recall that in that case it can be rewritten as a "because", "when" or "since" clause. Because a well regulated militia is necessary to the security of a free state... or Since a well regulated militia is necessary to the security of a free state... Which means, of course, that the right to keep and bear arms is *in service to* the necessity of a militia. STOP! I just know a bunch of you are getting ready to jump down my throat just now. Stop. Look at what I wrote and read the worlds. The anti-gunners who use this supposed ambiguity to claim that without a militia there is no right to bear arms are completely wrong. The ambiguity is there, but only in the question of whether or not the *necessary* militia is optional not, even for a moment, if the right to bear arms is a right. Because this clause isn't ambiguous at all... A well regulated militia is necessary to the security of a free state. Period. If there is any ambiguity in the 2nd Amendment it's over whether or not the "militia" can be required by law to own and train with weapons or if they can chose to be unarmed. If the first clause of the 2nd Am. describes the "a cause or condition" for the second clause, and the anti-gunners think that a lack of a militia rules it out... they just aren't actually reading the first clause.

One of the more pathethic realities is the extent to which the Grahams and McCains give Obama and the Democrats the ammunition to continue taking down Western Civilization.

The only reason that Obama, Pelosi et al survive and can continue the destruction is that the RINOs in Congress give them $1 trillion + annually to continue feeding their client voting blocks.

Recognize that just a little $85 billion sequestration has caused them endless headaches. If Republicans were really to starve the beast then Obama would be toast. The big fear that the RINOs have is that a politically coreect nation wll turn on them. Well guess what ? Will never happen. The majority of the people only need to recognize that the goodies are no longer coming and the only thing Obama has holding up his clueless and dangeroue Presidency would have been taken from him. Then the people would recognize  he has failed on the economy, on immigration, on jobs creation, on race relations, on helping African Americans, on foreign policy, on education, on urban develoment, etc.  If the Republicans had the guts to call him on his incompetence by witholding the borrowed money that funds his incompetence - then he would be exposed for the utter fraud that he is.

I don't think the Left is one monolith block of willful a-holes. The bulk of them are LIV emotive ninnies who can be reached just not in an argumentative way.

We're going to have to reach a few of them if we want to win any national elections. Can't argue someone out of a position they didn't arrive at intellectually. It is about emotion. It is about morality, albeit a secular version.

We need point out the failure of this collectivist Progressive project but we have to do it in a way that gives them an emotional reason to opt for conservatism. It's going to have to break the psychology of "GOP = uncool, Dem's = cool" reflexive non-thought.

I'm frustrated that people who go undercover and get the goods (like Zombie) don't get as much coverage as they deserve (given the stakes), and it looks like (I may have missed something) that Breitbart's "surveillance project" in Wisconsin schools and unions was never finished. He supposedly had some really juicy audio and video. People would rather not have enemies, so it really needs to be shoved down their throats that such things exist. It's not easy, don't get me wrong.

Things that they said in 2008 are true. When her husband was likely to be the dem nominee, she said "today is the first time I am proud of my country." We know she meant it then and they are alike. Stupid people with big egos. They should have left the country if they don't like it here. They should go to Venezuela when he's out of office. They'd fit in perfectly. We do counter-terrorism intel sharing with the Russians.  Have for quite a while.  To a limited extent it was done with the later era Soviets too when there were commonalities of interest.

The probably caught phone calls or emails to some known terrorists in Russia and just let us know as a heads up.

If the FBI had done something more than sit on its hands, then anything we might have developed on this end could maybe help fill in blanks in the Russian's intel on their end.

Nasty surgery though.  I woke up just as the were taking the scalpel to my eye.  Anasthesia got messed up and I was awake but could not make a sound to let the doctor know.  Like my worst nightmare.

Please do not mention this to your dad.

No problems, confuses a lot of people. Honestly, what happened was way more important than geographical precision.

The kids are splitting time between my parents and my in-laws so that I can be cleaning and packing here. It seems to be going pretty well. My sister and her husband just put a contract on a too-build in Fresno, TX (where they're moving from Fresno, CA) that already has the foundation poured, so in a couple of months I'll have a free place to stay while looking for a home there too.

Efforts by The Standard-Times to identify the van's consulate country did not provide any answers, and the FBI spokeswoman had no information about it. A U.S. Department of State spokeswoman said her agency was “not privy” to the investigation and referred The Standard-Times back to the FBI.

A neighbor who declined to identify herself said the same two men were among the three people taken into custody by the FBI Friday afternoon.

The American public is on a double-secret "need to know" probation, and our benevolent overlords don't think we need to know much. Indeed, I think they rather enjoy the tail-chasing that's going on, because it keeps people from connecting the dots when they're all over the place.

But I believe that anyone who wants one should have it. I thought about getting one last summer because my next door neighbor would teach me how to use it. He's from the mid West. He let his license lapse and he had to go to classes as if he's a beginner, he's in his 70s and grew up on a fan with them, here in MA things are tougher than in a red state.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was thrown out of the mosque -- the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center -- about three months ago, after he stood up and shouted at the imam during a Friday prayer service, they said. The imam had held up slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King as an example of a man to emulate, recalled one worshiper who would give his name only as Muhammad.

456

So I just finished combing through the CDC data on fatal injuries from 1981 - 2010.  (A blog post may end up being written from all of this.....)

Some truly interesting numbers/facts emerged from this:

1) First thing - which never gets mentioned - is that up to 60% of all "firearms  deaths" are the result of SUICIDE (no "assault" weapons necessary).  Interestingly enough, in  1993, the homicide rate was virtually the same as the suicide rate.

2) The rate of occurrence of  firearms  HOMICIDES was the lowest in 30 years in......2010 (the suicide numbers and rates, however, increased).  Inconvenient statistics there,  POUTUS.....

3) The number of motor-vehicle fatalities each year is between 3-4 times as high as the number of firearms  fatalities.

They would probably carry more stuff about the French but we speak the same language and are far enough away that it's sort of ignored by most American people (certainly the American press).

However, over the last few years I have become a devoteee of news in the British papers,  so they might be looking for ad revenue by (fancy this) giving the customers actual news.

And he runs out of ammunition — the bad guy — and so one of my police officers comes off the side and tackles him in the street. “We’re trying to get him handcuffed. There’s two or three police officers handcuffing him in the street — the older brother. At the same time, at the last minute — they obviously have tunnel vision, it’s a very, very stressful situation — one of them yells out, ‘Look out!’ and here comes the black SUV, the carjacked car, directly at them. They dive out of the way, and he (the younger brother) drives over his brother and drags him a short distance down the street.” [Emphasis added]

No one really knows who lives there (adults rarely seen) but young sons come in and out.House falling apart. "The" house in neighborhood that brings down property value. Supposedly from Turkey. Many family members, including wife, have broken the law in various ways (public record). This is a drop in the bucket of those who bought up mortgages and screwed up the market. I agree that they are not stupid, but I believe that they are in the grip of an ideology that filters/colors/interprets everything that they see, read, or hear, i.e., it is not possible  for them to place a rational interpretation on anything. Their thoughts/reactions reflect a pathology..., and there is nothing that can change that short of some life-changing experience. Even that doesn't always work. 584 Do you consider the country of Saudi radical? It's just plain ol Islam. No Bibles, no booze, no Westerners in spots, stoning, etc. Islam. Fucking Islamic moderates are just waiting for the numbers to work out. There is a chart out there somewhere, but I think shit happens at about 20% muzzie saturation.

585 Yah Mike, don't disagree. What I'm saying is that somewhere above all of that, there is a very smart, very willing set of puppet masters working to bring the downfall of our country by pitting neighbor against neighbor. And they know exactly what they're doing. Far more effective to charge all of them - those in the know, and those willing dupes - with 'intelligence' than stupidity. Stupidity gives them an 'out.' Stupidity isn't a crime. Knowing is treason.

586 They dive out of the way, and he (the younger brother) drives over his brother and drags him a short distance down the street.” [Emphasis added]

I could read this over and over and smile.

587 CBS is reporting....Tsarnaev suffered at least two bullet wounds — including one to his neck — before he was arrested in Watertown, CBS News security analyst John Miller said Saturday night.

The bullet wound to the neck, which has an exit wound in the back of the 19-year-old’s neck, “is very possibly a suicide attempt,” said Miller, a former assistant director at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

589 Obama has no wish to learn about supporters of the 2nd Amendment, guns or people that do not support his beliefs, in other words, he's waving his middle finger and shouting "Fuck you" at the opposition.

I'm sick of vanity now
I'm sticking to essential reality now
I don't know what's worse
Try to make a silk purse
Living an illusion living in confusion
Well a house of cards
Was never built for shock
You could blow it down in any kind of weather

You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind is blowing.

591 A man goes on a trip. When he comes home his brother tells him .. “your cat died”

The man says “gee, couldn’t you package that a little better by saying that the cat had wandered out onto the roof and after multiple efforts by firemen to save the cat, it fell and couldn’t be saved.”

A few weeks later, the man goes on another trip. When he comes home his brother tells him .. “Mom wandered out onto the roof …“

Sometimes drawing them a picture just doesn't cut through it

592 At the Washington Post, under the timeline of events in the pursuit of the moslem bombers, a toolhead wrote that they got their guns and ammo "at a gun show hosted by the NRA."

Their ignorance and contempt are bottomless. And they're ineducable. Over the side with 'em.

593 Obama is not just against the 2nd amendment.  He holds disdain for the entire Constitution and actually stated that during his campaign in 2008.

And stupid fucks voted him in anyway because the FSA turned out in droves and conservatives that had held their nose and voted for Bush sat at home by a significant percentage.

594 So let me get this right, Boston PD had 3 guns against 1 terrorist, about 5 to 10 feet away...AND...multiple hits...AND...he was alive when they tackled him???

What are they armed with? (I'm including the perp for realism) pea shooters?

If I hit you at 10 feet (and it IS highly probable that I will), you will be DEAD before you hit the ground.

M1911, clinically proven and field tested, I know it ain't pretty, but it works.

595 "Larry Correia will be at Liberty Con 26 in Chattanooga end of June. Him and John Ringo in the same con. May have to bring body armor and Bun-Bun."

Anna uma, can you imagine if they collaborated?  Every fourth sentence would be, "The SheVa gun operated on a very different principle from Abomination..."
