— Open Blogger William P. White, the D.C. Insurance Commissioner, was fired 24 hours after he pointed out what everyone with a brain knew to be true about Obama's healthcare fix.
n a statement issued Thursday, White hinted strongly that he opposed the idea.“The action today undercuts the purpose of the exchanges, including the District’s DC Health Link, by creating exceptions that make it more difficult for them to operate,” the statement said.
He also pointed to a statement issued by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners that said the Obama order “threatens to undermine the new market, and may lead to higher premiums and market disruptions in 2014 and beyond.”
“We concur with that assessment,” White said Thursday.
WhiteÂ’s statement was removed from the departmentÂ’s Web site sometime before Friday morning. Asked about the removal Friday, spokesman Michael Flagg said the departmentÂ’s statement had changed.
Can you imagine being a state Insurance Commissioner right now? How much pressure is being put on them to enact a fix that they know can't work and may very well be illegal?

"may very well be illegal? May? May?
Clearly illegal.
Clearly unconstitutional.
Probably impeachable.

No problem.
I tend to pull the trigger on myself far faster than anyone from the Horde does.

But you are correct that the work should be attributed.

You have to figure this is similar to Ogabe purging the military, you a civil servant?
Obama has a moment of ethical clarity in store for you only question is how far down the list your name is.

All references to the former person have been scrubbed from the official record.
It appears the Ministry of Truth is operating as intended.
All is well.

This is called a concierge practice (most concierge practices charge an annual fee of some sort with a guarantee of a baseline amount of access). They have popped up in some locales, with mixed success. The biggest obstacles are 1) building a large enough clientele to become profitable and 2) being able to admit patients to a hospital (hospitals grant admitting privileges based on certain criteria). Ultimately, as long as we have a third-party payer system cash-based practices will remain a fringe element.

Two people have been fired over the Obamacare cluster-fuck.
Both were fired for warning people that trouble was coming.
I will say this: these firings give credence to Obama's claim not to have known that things were going pear-shaped. After all, if telling the truth is a firing offense, who will speak it?
Of course, this speaks volumes about Obama as an executive and a leader. But we knew that already.

I think I remember something a year or two back from one of the talk shows about a Dr. in NY trying to start up a chain of health clinics for something like $75 flat rate a visit, but got buried by regulations.

A lot of pressure. Yesterday I asked how could an insurance commissioner approve a contract that is illegal (the president's promise is one not to prosecute - the older plans still are not ACA compliant). Relying on a promise like that is pretty darn foolish, even if Obama's promises didn't come with expiration dates because the state AG may very well prosecute or find some sort of malfeasance or misfeasance in office for doing so. It is an absolute charlie foxtrot - if they do this they put themselves in legal jeopardy, and if they don't they could be fired. Me, I think I would be updating the resume rather than follow such an instruction.

*How many people were fired over the IRS harassment scandal?
(Voluntary resignations don't count, especially if it's one month prior to your announced retirement)
*How many were fired after Benghazi?
(Other than the lower-level State employees were were told had been fired that had actually just been moved around with a little time off between posts).
*How many were fired over Fast and Furious?
(Besides the whistle-blowers.)

It might be that he got a legal opinion from the state AG telling him that he would be in legal jeopardy if he did that.* It would be interesting to find out because that changes the dynamics of the whole discussion.
*State agencies tend to do this before they act - it saves embarrassment later.

So the country will continue to slide towards becoming Venezuela with folks clinging to their hopes that surely *this latest outrage* will mean the conservatives pick up power in the next election and will be able to undo much of the harm.
After 08 and 12 I no longer believe that common sense can overcome the MBM, I'm ashamed that they had conned me into wanting McCain in the 08 primaries before I realized how corrupt they are (I hadn't changed from independent in time to caucus and all the good guys had dropped out before my state even held a caucus anyway --unfortunately it seems that only a small minority of LIVS were jolted out of their stupor)
