— Maetenloch

So both my work laptop and home computer have decided to not work today albeit for different reasons. So imagine the gyrations I've had to go through to post even this rinky-dinkish ONT while I'm restoring them from backups. Just think about that while you thoughtlessly scroll through my sweat-and-tears to post your precious little recipes and nude selfies.

Dem Pollsters Shocked to Find No Racism in Tea Partiers - So They Invent Some

So the Democrat-aligned pollster group, Democracy Corps, ventured into deepest darkest flyover territory to interview the strange and mysterious 'conservative voter' on various issues and their thoughts on Obama. Needless to say most described Obama as a 'liar' and a 'manipulator' which is pretty much the majority American view these days.

But the pollsters were shocked to find that not a single conservative said anything racist about Obama. Not.A.Single.Freakin.One.

Indeed, the pollsters even confess that they "expected" to find more racism among Republican voters. "We expected that in this comfortable setting or in their private written notes, some would make a racial reference or racist slur when talking about the African American President," they confess. "None did."

How to explain this odd behavior by obviously racist conservatives? Well it can only be because through a process of natural selection they have evolved into diabolically clever racists who are able to stifle their nasty racist talk momentarily when talking to predators outsiders.

They know that is deeply non-PC and are conscious about how they are perceived. But focusing on that misses how central is race to the worldview of Republican voters. They have an acute sense that they are white in a country that is becoming increasingly "minority," and their party is getting whooped by a Democratic Party that uses big government programs that benefit mostly minorities, create dependency and a new electoral majority. Barack Obama and Obamacare is a racial flashpoint for many Evangelical and Tea Party voters.

So yeah clearly racist by omission. (thanks to JohnE)

Crossbow vs Body Armor

Advantage: Crossbow.

Weep For Them

For you have no idea of all the private-jet flights and third bottles of Cristal they have forsaken for Mother Gaia. Let Cate Blanchett who is paid $10 million to appear in perfume advertisements put you some knowledge about what sacrifice really means:

We need to keep switching up the language around climate change. For so long we've talked about sacrifice and people get discredited for what they haven't given up. [Celebrities] get criticised for taking flights, but the truth is someone like Leo [DiCaprio] takes fewer flights than he's asked to. If we want it to stay on the radar, we need to focus on the fact there's a lot of opportunity.

Vaginal Knitting: The Aftermath

Amid general derision, some Guardian readers are attempting to champion Ms Jenkins' art and defend her reputation. Despite some imaginative, indeed baffling, approaches, they've not been entirely successful. One reader insists that, in terms of aesthetics, Ms Jenkins' critics are "unnecessarily confining themselves to very rigid rules" - say, by preferring things that are beautiful and require uncommon expertise. "Vaginal knitting," we're told, somewhat cryptically, "can also be viewed as an organic process." Which is apparently something intrinsically deserving of applause.

Another reader offers an even more high-minded defence: "I haven't evaluated your work closely enough to say it's a great piece, but I want to express my sympathy: what horrifyingly ignorant responses you've received! The nature of these responses itself is reason enough to believe the work is certainly important." So an absurd and pretentious thing, subsequently rationalised in absurd and pretentious ways, is "certainly important" - artistically important - if enough people notice that it's absurd and pretentious. Interesting theory.

And here is my next oeuvre - I call it, "Le Turde". You'll note that it's both organic and artistically significant - especially when I 'organically' create it in front of the Modern Art Museum downtown.

39 You know, technically it's sort of political speech, but if nothing is done about the constant, vile lies in politics now, it will end badly, for everyone. At some point it has to be actionable in some way or another. Mind you, not with this administration in charge of the DOJ and appointing judges - you can't even get confessed wire fraud prosecuted now (Peter Gleick) if the politics are going the wrong way.

123 Speaking of Delaware, my favorite Gay Mafia incident in recent times involved pro wrestler Jay Briscoe. Briscoe and his brother are the Briscoe Brothers. Here's a pic: http://tinyurl.com/mmx9m36 They wrestle for ROH (which is 3rd tier minor league wrestling) and their gimmick is they are backwoods, redneck, toothless, hillbilly chicken farmers from rural southern Delaware who just don't give a shit. They dress in Confederate flags and are supposed to be crazy, inbred, bad-ass, foul-mouthed, shit-kickers. In character, Briscoe talked about how much he hated gay marriage. Did it on his twitter account. ROH was forced to suspend him and apologize for him. The bad-ass, rule-breaking, shit-kicking, don't-give-a-fuck, crazy redneck was forced to apologize for any hurt feelings he caused the LGBT community. When an obscure wrestler that nobody knows about, playing a bad guy racist gimmick who wears Confederate flag tights, has to publicly apologize for saying mean things about gay marriage ... that's kinda impressive thought policing by the Gay Mafia.

Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.” Click here to read his entire interview in GQ. Paraphrasing Corinthians he added: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.” The gay and lesbian rights group GLAAD was quick to criticize Robertson for his comments and called on A&E to take action. "Phil and his family claim to be Christian, but Phil's lies about an entire community fly in the face of what true Christians believe," said GLAAD rep Wilson Cruz. "He clearly knows nothing about gay people or the majority of Louisianans – and Americans - who support legal recognition for loving and committed gay and lesbian couples. Phil's decision to push vile and extreme stereotypes is a stain on A&E and his sponsors who now need to reexamine their ties to someone with such public disdain for LGBT people and families." Robertson also told GQ his family has lost its privacy since they were thrust into the limelight as the stars of the hit show, but it was well worth it because the series has given him a platform to spread his religious beliefs. “For the sake of the Gospel, it was worth it… All you have to do is look at any society where there is no Jesus. I’ll give you four: Nazis, no Jesus. Look at their record. Uh, Shintos? They started this thing in Pearl Harbor. Any Jesus among them? None. Communists? None. Islamists? Zero. That’s 80 years of ideologies that have popped up where no Jesus was allowed among those four groups. Just look at the records as far as murder goes among those four groups.”

241 I always thought it was odd that liberals say shit like "Wouldn't it be funny if Rick Santorum or whoever was actually gay?" But isn't being gay (in their minds) a wonderful healthy lifestyle? So they are really asking "Wouldn't it be funny if Rick Santorum was something good and wonderful?" A statement like "Wouldn't it be funny if the war monger was actually a coward/chickenhawk?" makes sense because a coward is an intrinsically bad thing. Their statements regarding gays only makes sense if they believe homosexuality is an intrinsically bad thing (which it is).

288 I don't know if Mr/ Robertson reads Francois Fenelon (He was a Christian who was insulted and exiled for his beliefs: "Do not get angry about what people say. Let them talk while you try to do God's will. As to the will of other people, you could never come to the end of satisfying it, not is it worth the trouble. Silence, peace and union with God ought to comfort you whatever people may falsely say. You must be friendly to them without counting on their friendship. They come and go. Let them, go...they are like chaff scattered by the wind." "Bearing Insults" from "The Royal way of the Cross." Fenelon is much more spiritually advanced than I may ever be but with God all things are possible. :^)

289 275 It seems like such a strange decision for A and E as I suspect that family will stick together. They could have just as easily used one of those statements seen before infomercials..."this does not reflect the views..blah blah blah". Their higher-ups at the network are probably inoculated from the need to make profit (like all successful leftists) and have been looking for an excuse to dump a show they were always uncomfortable with. These are the same people who didn't want them praying in Jesus's name.

Typical show-business contracts have clauses which basically say, "if we, the studio, are embarrassed by you, we can give you the bounce." A&E are probably within their contract rights. Further, other family members quitting are potentially subject to a lawsuit from A&E for breach of contract.

Entertainment contracts are purely at the discretion of the employer. Discrimination suits have a very high bar to clear in that field, as in nigh impossible. It's one of the few industries that aren't subject to the 'guilty until proven innocent' standard of employment law.

Think about it; if an actor/entertainer could sue over discrimination, all casting would be result in lawsuits.

I simply loooooove Barack Obama's BLACK half and commend his black half's suave coolness, panache, chutzpah, and his skill in somehow getting himself elected president a mere 148 years after about 320,000 Republican men died freeing his racial brethren. A lesser man surely would not have made it this far whilst encased in lighter skin. On the other hand, I simply hate Barack Obama's lying, communist, incompetent, goat-felching, law-breaking WHITE half with the fiery heat of a trillion red giant supernovae and fervently pray daily that soon he will be formally impeached, tried, removed from office, then tried again for treqson and sentenced by a jury of his peers to be castrated, boiled lightly in oil, stuffed into a burlap sack filled with feral cats, and after the bag is beaten with sticks to piss off the cats, I wish for him to be removed, placed into an iron maiden filled with hungry rats, then shot at dawn, then hanged, drawn and quartered, wrapped in pigshit, then melted to his component atoms, which would then be mixed with concrete and transported via time machine to that point just before the Big Bang, whereupon his remains would be jetissoned into that infinitely dense, infinitely hot, infinitely tiny point in space from which the Universe would shortly issue, as the just reward for his crimes.

So it looks like I'll be heading back to the midwest in early January. The parents have been blissfully (or not, depending on which one you ask) wed for 50 years on the 4th of January, and the sisters are throwing a shindig. I plan on showing up unannounced around the 3rd or so.

I'll be departing the Raleigh area on the 2nd as early as I can get on the road, taking I-40 west to Memphis (why you ask? To avoid the PRoI) and then northward on the MO side of the Big Muddy to StL, then westward once more on I70 to KC and northward from there. My plans are to drive to fatigue on the 2nd, rest overnight and finish up on the 3rd.

This means I'll be passing through the KCMO vicinity the afternoon of the 3rd, which is a Friday. We've discussed this to distraction, and now here's a chance. Who wants to get together for (something) on the 3rd in the KCMO area? One of you locals will have to take point on this, I'm just providing motivation.

CM, about what was shown.  I think I cut out about 40 seconds of them talking.

I was a little surprised by their reaction - I did not know an 8 year old (at least that one) was capable of tears of joy.  Two days later, and he still chokes up watching the video.

Who would have thought that there would be shots fired and a standoff on my street and it *wasn't* me? I wouldn't have taken that bet. Posted by: DC in Towson

A couple of years ago I had a weird guy, mid-thirty's, walking around at O dark thirty driving a RC car on the street in Falls Church.  He got upset when I spotlighted him from my front door.  He would have been really pissed to see what was in my other hand.

I hope every Church this Sunday revisits what the Bible says about homosexuality.

I will say this though, let's keep this battle cultural and not political.  I really don't want to see Republicans running on sexual morality.

RE: Anna's and Yankeefifth's AOS Navy

Letters of Marque and Reprisal are required to be issued by a government to allow a ship to operate as a privateer in that country's name.

Can be very dicey for a small country. Better to join the world in calling them pirates while taking in a small percentage.
Posted by: Anna Puma (+SmuD) at December 16,

fine. I move we sail for somalia and get some practice in on the locals.

After fine tuning we head for the south china sea and tow the liaoning back and convert it to tranny hotel in Thailand, by which I mean drop anchor and raise a rainbow flag, otherwise it is ready for customers.

hey it is getting towed one way or another us or the chicoms.

Yankeefifth, I think I found our pirate base of operations
http://www.privateislandsonline.com/islands/ambil-island

Too much competition dropping anchor in the Gulf of Thailand.  Phuket to the left, Pattaya to the right and stuck in the middle of Bangkok on top.

As far as the island... two words, Typhoon Alley.

And one that occurred 6 weeks ago when I was even thinking of going to Cebu for two weeks off duty.

Pajama Boy would probably say Diehard is his favorite holiday movie, because he can't stand the heteronormative, sappy, white, homogenized nature of a holiday only 80%+ Americans celebrate. Instead he prefers a violent action movie with the bare minimum holiday accouterments. "It's technically a Christmas movie."-Hipsters mistaking cleverness and snark for substance as usual. 515 We on the progressive left have destroyed or have plans to destroy everyone who is a potential threat to us in 2016.

Paul Ryan: By running with Romney and getting his butt kicked by Biden in the VP debate, has left him wounded. The final coup de grace was the budget agreement. Our agents are now attacking Paul Ryan as a sellout and you are following their orders to the hilt.

Marco Rubio: This is our biggest scalp to date and we owe you conservatives for this one. We tricked him into supporting amnesty which we knew would turn you against him. Our agents began attacking him and you followed their lead. The beauty of this is we have no intention of ever doing amnesty. It is a great weapon we have to bring out your side's hatred of Latinos and this helps keep them in line. We will have Latinos in our pockets as we have blacks for generations to come.

Ted Cruz: He was never a big threat and is a self righteous asshole. He fell for our shutdown trap and now has high negatives with the public becasue of it. If he is your nominee in 2016, we will win a 45 state landslide.

Chris Christie: Our agents convinced him to make nice with Obama and the fat lard could not help himself. Due to this, you hate him and he will never be your nominee. Besides, if by chance he is your standard bearer in 2016, we will gut him like the whale he is.

Scott Walker: We have some nice plans for him should he run for President. I will give you a little hint, Walker is Pro-Rape.

Bobby Jindal: Another rape supporter. We will make mince meat of him.

Rand Paul: The plagiarism charges did nt do as much damage as we thought. This guy does scare me a bit as even some on my side like him. But we have plans for him and our agents will manipulate you into hating him like you hate Rubio and Ryan.

You have no one we fear for 2016. We have embedded ourselves in your movements and will continue to destroy it from within. Some of our agents comments here daily and are beloved by you. They help steer you towards extremism which helps the progressive left. You are our best allies, thanks!

As I mentioned upthread, they could be sued if they quit. I'm sure their contracts rival the Affordable Care Act in length, complexity, and obscurity, so there's really nothing where they could sue A+E. The easiest play in the world, though, is to do a bunch of interviews -- preferably with LGBT news outlets, just to ensure GLAAD hears about 'em promptly -- and try to spread the Word. I didn't see anything particularly outlandish in his statements -- does GLAAD want to edit the book of Corinthians?

555 Laugh and dismiss my writing, but deep down inside you know this is the truth. We play your side like violins and your rhetoric helps to scare people into voting for us. Look at the comments at this place in 2008 and today. You have been radicalized by our agents here.

You know are asking why am I admitting this. To be truthful, there is part of me that feels bad for your side. In many ways what we are doing is wrong, but you are so easy to manipulate it's hard to resist. I wish our side had worthy political adversaries that would make politics more exciting.

Consider this the confessions of a progressive. I still have a conscience and a soul and had to reveal to you the extent of or infiltration. Good night and please question what your leaders are pushing onto you. Some of them are on our side and are doing it to manipulate you.

586 I don't know Kensington, Y-not.

As a son, I'll pray for him.  Knowing the loss of one's Father is the most devastating loss a man shall endure.

A man truly becomes a Man under the watchful eye of his Father.  His endurances, trials and failures are subject to the wisdom of one's Father's watchful eye.

After the loss, the Wisdom falls unto that Man.

...I pray the fear and grievance leaves Kensington as quickly as God allows;  and in its stead awakens a Man of Character, Honor and Learned Vision.

May his Father's Wisdom be passed and honored, as it is amongst so many of Our Bretheren.

May our prayers reach God's ears and as his Father is welcomed into The Kingdom of Heaven, and may the Heavenly Voice of Reason continue its legacy within his thoughts.

Within his prayers.

Within his actions.

Within his soul.

Forgiven are our sins, should we ask.  God will find a way, as we persevere to endure.  Nothing is in our way, so impossible as to be overcome by Love, Wisdom and Faith.

...May his journey be forever happy, Kensington.  May yours be assuaged by All God's Beauty.

On the other hand, I simply hate Barack Obama's lying, communist, incompetent, goat-felching, law-breaking WHITE half with the fiery heat of a trillion red giant supernovae and fervently pray daily that soon he will be formally impeached, tried, removed from office, then tried again for treqson and sentenced by a jury of his peers to be castrated, boiled lightly in oil...whereupon his remains would be jetissoned into that infinitely dense, infinitely hot, infinitely tiny point in space from which the Universe would shortly issue, as the just reward for his crimes. I was in such shock, I couldn't reach for the pause key until I got to the point of the Gingerbread House with the round, puckered upper window... Whatever that music video was, it was John Wayne Meets James Bond in Die Hard in The West by comparison. I felt like I'd been force-fed that entire gingerbread house in one sitting and washed it down with a box of Kaboom. I had to watch the Kate Upton Arte Filme twice to just begin to recover. 623 I love how "equality" seems to disavow The Human Condition.  I love that we're a nation of betters, not laws.

It allows "Our Betters" to ignore laws, constituents and God; so as to create a Utopia of Ignorance amongst those who love "New Jersey Housewives".

I love how "Our Betters" divvy our wealth amongst undeserving Special Interest Groups, as lobbied by K-Street Self-Interest Groups.

I love how MATH never seems to "pop up", lest the Ruling Class derides The Rich for earning shit.

That has nothing to do with whether we're Equal in any other ways.

Why are some color blind and most are not?

Gather incomplete and inaccurate accounts

Publish a video that show only a small part of the event(s)

Pass sentence on those actors without gathering more information

Publish.

689 Where does it end?

I'll tell you where it ends.

It ends when that flaming ball of gas finally exhausts all it's fuel and expands. Engulfing the inner planets in a hot gas envelope that incinerates everything within.

Is the complete loss of sun spots an indicator that the fuel is gone?

The Sun has been burning for 4,000 million years +/-  and we have NO data on how long that compares to other suns that have gone out.

Will we see a bright red glow on the horizon one night and then inhale ash and soot for one brief nanosecond?

There that should give you nightmares.

He said it in GQ, not on the show itself, but what was "crass"? He didn't swear or use a vulgar term, he just used the proper terms "vagina" and anus". Heck, the Big Bang Theory  guys are pretty descriptive every week on their show. I don't think AandE blushes at the word "vagina" anyway, they're not prudes. All he said about homosexuality was it isn't logical. Ooooh, isn't he a bully? So mean! *clutch my pearls* Nope, AndE fire him because he's Christian, period.

This comes on the heels of AandE adding fake bleeps on Duck Dynasty to imply swearing, pressuring the family to not say "in Jesus name" at grace (they claim it might offend Muslims -- the same religion that hangs gays!), and now they've fired Phil.

This has nothing to do with what he said, this has to do with media moving the Overton window. Mind you, they got a lot of mileage out of stuff like "Queer Eye" -- which was a fun series that was quite charming. But we're past the funsies, and into the scolds, and the media think they can move further and faster by ginning up this sort of "scandal".

Kenney coached soccer, basketball and golf at Trinity, where tuition costs as much as $41,370 a year. “On at least one occasion Kenney was dissuaded from attending social events with his peers because he was a heterosexual, married male with children, who wouldn’t fit in with [Krieger’s] ‘culture.’” He says three other married coaches with young children were also sacked. Kenney was replaced by a gay female, according to court papers.

All true but for the upward temp trend. There is a lag time time of close to 6-8 weeks between the shortest day and the average lows. Otherwise winter would end on Dec. 23. January avg. temps are always colder than Dec. temps.

798 I always found the notion "assumed racism in republicans" from the pigressives rather amusing. When I mention that my family actively campaigned for Cain and Blackwell they have this blank look and usually respond.."well they are not real black men."

Cognivitive desonance indeed.

Posted by: Buckeye Abroad at December 19, 2013 05:22 AM (fWX8r)

------------

Well Cain didn't have the authentic black experience growing up. His mom was a white libertine who had bit of the jungle fever. His parents divorced before he was 1 year old and he ended up living in Indonesia during his formative years. When he turned ten he was pawned off onto his white grandparents who enrolled him in a pricey college prep school. His college years were spent at Columbia University and Yale. Clearly, not the typical black experience.

Programmer's

They never think how stuff looks after the 100th time the user has to see it.

The first couple times, it's cute or amusing or even a necessary part of the experience.

but soon the interruption and the repetition makes the user want to reach through the interface and back in time and throttle the little jerk who thought it was "a good idea".

802 711 707 I'm becoming more and more certain that the trigger event for the coming preference cascade will occur because of something like this. A video that goes viral, and incident on a street that the media can't suppress or doesn't suppress fast enough. Like lighted match tossed into a trailer that's got a leak in the gas line. And has been sitting in the sun with the windows/doors closed all day. *PHOOMPH* (I love that sound. Better than the bang or thud of gun powder or high explosive. The sound of a combustible atmosphere reaching ignition. It's a soft almost pillow like sound.) Posted by: Bitter Clinger and All That (Unexpurgated Edition) at December 19, 2013 03:31 AM (LSDdO) To combine the notion of "trigger event" with "preference cascade", prithee consider the "fuel-air bomb" -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9xCgNdZPKk -- the first charge disperses the fuel, the second ignites it. And, from a long, long, long way away, it sort of sounds like *PHOOMPH* -- but, up close, there is no sound....only obliteration. Posted by: cthulhu at December 19, 2013 03:38 AM (T1005) The pressure wave of a good "combustion event" can be better then sex. I recommend it over Cialis.

And, see -- that's just stupid. Phil Robertson is plenty tolerant, he just recognizes "batting from the other side" as a sin. Doesn't mean he won't shake their hand or give 'em a hug when they need one, or love 'em or comfort them when they're in distress. He's sinned, too, after all.
