— CDR M What is it with democrats and guns? 84 year old Obama supporter pulls gun on conservatives protesting.
On September 28, the women were protesting on the Steve Reynolds Overpass above Interstate 85 when they said that a maroon car drove by. The driver, the women said, pointed a gun at them.Breaking Bad UnderwearThe women weren’t the only ones to see the gun, though. Police also received a 911 report from another person on the scene–one unconnected to the protest. The 911 caller also noted the license tag. That was the help police needed to track down Smith.
The elderly man, Roy Smith, said he kept a gun in his car in case of carjackers, but apparently he thought it was useful for supporting Barack Obama, too.

OK, this collecting stuff is a bit out of control. Walter White's 'Breaking Bad' underwear goes for $9,900 at auction.
Socially Responsible Dividend Stock
Um, OK. It's not like the market is being driven by traditional means anyway. Top 25 socially responsible dividend stocks. Now what constitutes being a socially responsible dividend stock? Standard green eco pc bullshit evidently.
Environmental criteria include considerations like the environmental impact of the company’s products and services, as well as the company’s efficiency in terms of its use of energy and resources. Social criteria include elements such as human rights, child labor, corporate diversity, and the company’s impact on society — for instance, taken into consideration would be business activities tied to weapons, gambling, tobacco, and alcohol.

Weird as this may sound, I once saw a Broadway performance in which Patrick Stewart read Dickens' A Christmas Carol, acting out all of the roles. He was the only person on stage, and it was really awesome. Never could get into TNG, too much touchy-feely, but the guy has chops, and a great voice for theater.

Isn't that "A Time For Choosing," or have I mixed things up?
The Left will always try to destroy those it sees as a threat. The key thing about Reagan vis a vis the Left, was that they could not get a grasp on him. So they went with "well, he's stupid." No one who watched that speech could believe that. I think, I hope, that Cruz has some of those "no handles for the Left to grasp" qualities.

it is one of the most dangerous acids on the planet. if you get it on your skin, it doesn't cause ordinary acid burns, but instead it diffuses through your skin and starts dissolving your bones from the inside. so it feels like the inside of your body is on fire. not a pleasant experience at all. at least that is what I have been told by the old grizzled chemists who did work with it.
I will stay far far away from hydrofluoric acid. nasty nasty nasty stuff.

I always liked this story from the aqua regia Wiki page.
When Germany invaded Denmark in World War II, Hungarian chemist George de Hevesy dissolved the gold Nobel Prizes of German physicists Max von Laue (1914) and James Franck (1925) in aqua regia to prevent the Nazis from confiscating them. The German government had prohibited Germans from accepting or keeping any Nobel Prize after jailed peace activist Carl von Ossietzky had received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1935. De Hevesy placed the resulting solution on a shelf in his laboratory at the Niels Bohr Institute. It was subsequently ignored by the Nazis who thought the jar—one of perhaps hundreds on the shelving—contained common chemicals. After the war, de Hevesy returned to find the solution undisturbed and precipitated the gold out of the acid. The gold was returned to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Nobel Foundation. They re-cast the medals and again presented them to Laue and Franck.

then STOP the machine just as their bodies are halfway through. Just to enjoy the looks on their half-dead, mindbendingly-pained faces.
Then when they're officially comatose, finish the job. Run the rest of them through.

The act of sitting there and waiting for the pitch to the batter is suspense enough. When the pitcher throws over, (even when a pinch-runner with speed is in), makes for a "BOO!"

Possums eat unbelievably nasty things. It's pretty hard to faze them with strong smells. However, in my experience, they don't like getting hit with a garden hose, and they will mosey off if thus hit. They won't run. I'm not sure what it takes to make a possum run. Mountain lion, probably.

Possums are kinda like racoons, right? Enough to let me tell this story, right?
So, there was this family of racoons that tried to make a home of a tree in my backyard. I had other ideas about where these racoons should reside.
In that spirit one night from about fifty feet away I threw a 2 foot long piece of 3/4 inch EMT conduit in the direction of the raccoon family in an effort to scare them off.
Much to my horror said piece of conduit struck one of the adult coons right in the face. I am not kidding. It made me feel sick. But I have not seen any racoons in my yard since.

A new neighbor from out of state walked up to me one day, holding an adult possum skull. She asked me "What's this?" I slowly shook my head, lips pursed and said, "Shirley, North Carolina has the largest rats in the Western Hemisphere. That's one that'll never bother you." Her eyes bugged out. I didn't tell her about the spiders, figuring that would be a merciful thing to do.

The day started out nice enough but soon, the weather turned foul. Waves start to kinking up, the boat rocks wildly. Tom tells Sadie to knock off setting the traps, we are going in. Sadie says "Just one more" and so she sets the trap, and Sadie, being kind of a largish woman, over the side she goes, along with the trap.
After his return, Tom tells the sheriff that his wife went over the side. Didn't come up.
The sheriff says "Never mind, she will pop up in a week or so".
And so Tom went on about his lobster business. About a week later, just like the sheriff said, Sadie pops up. Tom looks her over.
After he came back in the sheriff asked "Tom, did Sadie pop up like I said?"
"Ayah" said Tom. "She pop up".
"Well, Tom, where is she? What ya do with 'er?" asked the sheriff.
"Wot I do with her? Wot I do with her?" exclaimed Tom.
"I pull her up, and Sadie is just covered with lobsters" says Tom, "Covered!"
"And they was all full gauge keepers! FULL GAUGE KEEPERS!" said Tom.
"And wot ya do with her?" asked the sheriff.
"Well, hell" said Tom "I just set her on the traps again and threw her back!"

GnuBreed, you know the stoplight in Smackover? Totaled my first car close to there, 1989 or so. (Actually, totalled my first car for the first time there; did it three more times after.) Got stuck at the light by the homecoming parade. Finally got to go, but just before the Ford place, old lady ran the stopsign. She was in a '73 LTD, t-boned my '80 Citation. Front bumper of that LTD weighed about as much as my whole car. I bounced off an old F-100. Think of that every time I drive through that intersection. Fun times.

I use my old Blackberry as a low-end iPod. It lacked wi-fi but everything that didn't require a data or voice connection still works. If I have it on hand and need to write at length, it's keyboard is still leaps and bounds better than anything I've tried on my Galaxy SII. It has nowhere near enough internal memory for storing much content but it also has a microSD slot with a 16 GB card inserted.
I use it almost entirely for audio books. I could load up a bunch of music but whenever I get the urge for that in the car I prefer to not know what is coming next and maybe hear something unfamiliar. Like that Three Dog Night song linked just now. I know we had that album when I was a kid but I don't remember it at all.

I'm fascinated by the implication that fertility medicine can offer anything at all to a gay or lesbian couple when it comes to overcoming their essential inability to reproduce.
I have to wonder what these people think was the reason for the concept of marriage in the first place. What purpose does it serve for people that would never produce offspring without the aid of a third party and thus requiring significant planning rather being a side effect of 'doin' what comes naturally.' I've really had it up to here with this bullshit that it's so that a couple can publicly declare their love. You want to go public with your relationship? Take out an ad in the paper.

Well, that is one reason for my longstanding refusal to buy anything from Apple. They have some sort of bug up their ass about storage expansion, as if they might not make that next billion as soon if people can easily use content that didn't come through Apple's store.
I also wouldn't buy Google and Amazon's tablets for the same reason.
If I wa forced to use Aple gear for some reason I'd immediately be looking to buy one of those Wi-Fi NAS drives with their own battery. A portable TB of capacity when you have to spend time someplace with no connectivity.

But then they fired Woz, and got all proprietary on everything, and I could build PCs for 1/3rd the cost, so I never looked back.
I'm also not going to get a google tablet, or whatever, and may not do another droid either.

Thanks for the JP song. Got lost for a bit. Listened to Night Moves by Bob Seager and stumbled upon the memorial vid of an old friend/boy friend. Didn't realize his sister put some much of him on you tube. I sure miss that fucker. Then stumbled on a vid of the annual toy run.
We have been doing that for over 20 yrs and it took the cops and regs to totes fuck it up.
