Next to last day of March. Hopefully it feels like Spring in April. I'm told the above image is early concept work done for Prometheus 2.
The election is over, now feel the pain of an EPA plan that has been ready for 15 months. New EPA rules to add 9 cents a gallon to cost of gas. Of course, these same idiots will keep voting the way they do no matter how painful the party they support makes it for them.

Tis the season, so be ready if you live in tornado prone areas. Don't be alarmed at the above photo. That's just all the recorded tracks of tornadoes since 1950.
Cooking With Peeps

Hmmmm. I've never tried cooking with peeps. I wonder if it is any good. Might have to conduct some experiments tomorrow.
And if you are tired of the biting, cheap taste of val-u-rite vodka, you can always try peep infused vodka.
Pole Dancing Reality Show
Nope, not here but I'll probably tune in if it comes here. In the Ukraine, Pole Dancing Meets American Idol.
April Fools Day Pranks
Some ideas for the horde.
Beating A Speeding Ticket
Now the article says he used math to beat the ticket but it sounds like he won because the officer was not trained to use the equipment. Regardless, file it away for when you do get a speeding ticket.
AGW Scientists Puzzled

Sounds like AGW scientists are now afflicted with the same problem that plagues "journalists" that cover financial news. You know, the stuff that happens that the rest of us in the real world can see coming a mile away that surprises the "experts". Twenty year hiatus in rising temperatures has scientists puzzled. Hopefully, this means the climate change endgame is in sight.

They put up six of those ugly behemoths not 5 miles from here, over six months ago. They have yet to turn them to the on position--I've seen them test a couple of them but that's it. They sit there, doing nothing but ruining the view.
I'm sure the federal dollars were too sweet to pass up, but it might be nice if they actually because useful. Meanwhile, I'm wondering if a shotgun could shoot high enough, or if I would need to use the rifle to fix them for good.

The EPA adding "9 cents" a gallon to the price of gas is nothing.
The IMF wants to impose a tax on gas in the US by an additional $1.40/ gallon, to fix "climate change".
Somebody should get a good rap on the back of the head for that one.

Well, the socialist smarty - pants just love to prove that no matter what happens, they're right. No matter the body count, no matter how many people get hurt or killed.
WE'RE RIGHT!
Reading the adulation in some quarters laid on Stalin in the '30's is sickening, knowing FOR A FACT what we now know about the mass starvations (on purpose) to compell collective farming. Which also never worked.
And the millions that were killed in China to fulfill Mao's collectivist drive.
Hey, they were just little people, and nobody remembers their names anyways.

I will give a rat's ass of credibility to those clowns when they show me a model of the earth and its climate that shows ice age cycles over multiple 100k year cycles without spinning off into an asymptote. MAYBE then they can claim to understand the underlying physics.
Everything I have seen, no matter how deep into the weeds one gets, is a bunch of hacked together averages which somehow represent the average planetary temperature on a yearly basis (which don't mean jack) and they project from there... not really showing much more than middle school math with millions of $$ behind it.
Sorry to the AGW believers, but a point two, or was a two degree average temp change in fifty years don't mean jack when your local climate may have a typical daily swing of 20 degrees, a yearly swing of 70 degrees and a swing of 150 degrees in a mere 50 years.

I study NTSB after incident reports.....
===========
I've been involved in a couple of "incidents". The worst was early '80's. Pilot tried to land a Delta flight into Augusta, GA in HEAVY fog. Wingtip hit an approach light tower. Scared the ever loving shit out shit out of everyone. I've never witnessed panic like that. Guy managed to pull it up, there were strips of aluminum streaming in the breeze. The gal sitting next to me almost tore my shirt of in hysteria, masks dropped... screaming.... The stewardess behind me was gripping a Bible and prying out loud.
Good times, good times..

My sister Mary told me I should share this with you fine folks. My name is Larry Cloggenstein. I am from Battleboro, VT.
Yesterday I visited our Sprouts grocery store. The cashier was a happy woman, all positive about her job. High on Sprouts, if you will.
But when I asked, "Do you make $20 an hour?" her countenance darkened. "Didn't mean to bring you down," I said. "Seven dollars an hour is okay if you like your job, right?"
Capitalism still persists as a nasty undertow in America, promoting greed and setting up a hierarchy of social value that doesn't work for the common good. The happy lady pushing buttons at Sprouts should be compensated in a way that makes her life as easy as the life of the guy who owns Sprouts. His labor hours are no more valuable than hers.
Did his ancestor do more than hers to build this nation? Does he do more than she does to contribute to the success of this nation? When labor becomes a mere commodity, greedy people steal and horde it. And once the labor of others ends up in the wrong hands, those hands use it with cavalier disregard for the person to whom that labor belongs.
The smile on the Sprouts cashier's face is just as important to the success of Sprouts as those of the tax attoenrys whose job it is to find loopholes that allow the corporation to screw the IRS.
The minimum wage should be around $20--about what it was in 1968--or more. America will be a broken country as long as this half-century trend toward lower wages for working people continues.
I say, in the ideal society that we share the collective fruits of our current and historical labor, and we play alot.
The next time I go to Sprouts and ask the cashier, "Do you make $20 per hour?" I want to hear, "Nope, $25, plus a bonus for my smile."

I'm not saying your right and I'm not saying your wrong. I was adopted in a way that shouldn't be legal. I was adopted by a mom and a dad that I suppose did their best and had good intentions but left me as an adult feeling somewhat "lost" I don't think a homosexual couple would have been any better but looking back I will say love and understanding would have made a huge difference regardless of the sex of the parents. FTR I don't believe in homosexuality or marriage of it. Just my point of view on children and parents

You could 4X the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere today and only see a very small incremental additional forcing...
...which is to say we're at a point on the logarithmic curve where OTHER FACTORS will begin dominate over CO2, and dominate dramatically.
Effing tards. No amount of scare tactics and bullshit will change the shape of that forcing curve and make it behave linearly like they want it to

Jewel45, That wasn't the end of my day. I had a balloon glow that didn't work out for a friends charity, long story. Anyway after doing a burner glow I turned off my pilot light and but the blast valve in my burner bag. I went back to vent my lines but the valve hadn't shut off the pilot light. I caught a blast of fire in the face. The left side of my face was slightly burnt from the hot antifreeze bath it took from the wreck a few hours earlier and now the right side caught the brunt of the heat and burned slightly. It feels like a bit of a sunburn. I could taste of the antifreeze on my face, the smell of fire extinguisher dust and the smell of my burnt nose hair, eyelashes, eyebrow and hair. At that point I figured it was time to go home and take a shower.

You think that's odd? I grew up in a home where there was 4 kids and mom and dad with a yellow dodge with seating for 3 in the cab. My little sister got to ride in cab because she was just a baby. My brother sister and I had to ride in back to town which was 40 miles to get groceries. We also lived on the reservation so us kids in the back would hope that dad would pull over for a native hitchhiker. That meant that one of us got to go up front because dad got nervous with 4 in the back....................................how I ever made it to my age amazes me. That's only one story of about 67 I could tell

Years and years ago, my parents had "projects" where they needed to maintain two households -- my mom was going for a PhD in Davis, and my dad was working at the City of Los Angeles. So, one night, we're using my dad's Datsun mini-pickup to haul a desk from LA to Davis. Because the bed was so small, the desk actually straddled the bed, with it's legs on the outside edge of the bed. It was thoroughly lashed in (we weren't trick-knot sailors, so we'd wrap the thing in rope like a cocoon and use the two knots we knew a lot).
So, we're rocketing up I-5 at about 75 mph and there's straining sounds in the back, so I peer around the crap obstructing the view.....and that freakin' desk is kiting along, straining at the ropes, floating in air about 8" off the edge of the bed.
It was, BTW, a city-salvage desk -- very institutional and weighed like the dickens. And it was quite clearly unsupported by anything but air and was straining for the freedom to smash itself on the highway. Impressed the crap out of me.

The BH and I spent about a decade doing a lot of SCUBA diving -- until our Hawaiian vacation unexpectedly got extended for two additional weeks of hyperbaric therapy. We found SCUBA to be a positive life-changing activity that gives you life-lessons all the time, if you will only listen.
As a classic example, we were diving off the Channel Islands of California, and the water was a bit stirred-up and murky -- so we went a couple of yards upcurrent from the anchor line and found a patch of reef. For the next half-hour we saw all sorts of tiny dramas in a 8' x 8' section of rocks and crannies, with all sorts of beasties we'd ordinarily blink and miss. We surfaced and went back to the boat with huge smiles, chatting with each other: "did you see the hermit crab's reaction when the yellow nudibranch came through?!?"
But when we climbed back aboard, we were surrounded by whiners. "Shitty viz." "What a waste of a dive." "I could have had a better dive in a mud puddle." "Sucks."
It really hammered-home that you shouldn't close yourself off to having good times. Just being open to new experiences can open unexpected opportunities for delight -- but you have to be honest about what you're doing and not act as if you were "Joe Pro Diver".
Every so often (mostly on the ONT), I'll try to talk about something I lived through that gave me that sense of wonder.

I was shocked when my wife said that she would like to do that.
Although I don't disagree, I asked her what she would do after the "Funeral Party" ?
She didn't answer, but I think she would have said
"Stop thinking so much, and feel the emotion of the movie"
I already had and predicted great joy or crushing sadness, depending on the turnout. I'd rather not make my try at life , a political exercise. Damn Catholic guilt, I guess.

I will say it's about 75/25 of those who have their whole funeral planned out. I am in awe of people who know exactly the verse they want read, the song they want to be sung and the people they want to carry their body.. Anyone who has ever driven the freeways of Southern California has seen the overloaded pickup or flatbed that dropped loose shit all over the pavement.
One morning at 5 AM on the 110 I had the misfortune of following a flatbed that spilled a long reel of chicken wire behind it. It was like a giant stretched out Slinky that wrapped around my rear axle and yanked the parking brake cable tight. There I am on the fast lane of the 110 just above Slauson Ave with my back wheels locked. Thankfully it wasn't rush hour yet and CHP managed to stop traffic until they closed the lane and I became that morning's "SIG Alert"

Re: I've been involved in a couple of "incidents".
I used to commute by helo between Vancouver BC and Victoria BC. Worked great because back in the day the heliport was outside the airport wire, so you just drove up and sauntered into the prefab building and grabbed a coffee and chatted up the staff, and when the helo came you just walked out and got on the fucking thing. After a while they knew me and if I was the only rider, asked did I mind if they didn't shut it off (it was a deadhead ferry from downtown Vancouver in the oh-dark-thirty), because it cost them a shitload to shut it down and then power it up - a Sikorsky with retracts, 12 pax. After even longer, they just let me walk out without a guide to make sure I didn't get a wild hair and run headlong into the tail rotor.
So anyway one fine morn I had a lady sitting next to me who had never flown in a helo before and she was up tight. The drill was that they would lift up to about 20 feet and hold there to make sure the squirrels were all happy, and then they would put the nose down and bugger out real fast. They did not like to spend a lot of time in the coffin corner between 100 and 500 feet, and I heartily concurred.
But the lady next to me did not realize that a helo puts the nose DOWN to take off, not UP like a fixed-wing taking off. As soon as the pilot put the spurs to it and the nose dropped, she just knew WE WAS ALL GOING TO DIE. I still have the scars from her fingernails on my upper right arm 20 years later - no shit.

Propose, and vote on, a bill to give honorably discharged vets a tax credit for one firearm every five years (or something along those lines).
Why?
1) Completely change the dynamic from talking about taking away rights to whether or not the government should be spending money on something.
2) Set the Democrats up start talking about "PTSD crazy vet killing machines" you know they will...
3) Reward a loyal demographic in a way that strengthens the Republic.

a lot of the moral shortcuts people have made to endure this forever war would hurt the love the American people have for the force if aired hard...
anyway you're okay by me BC

Hell, let's put a $1.40 tax/mile on them to make the IMF happy.

It's pretty cool.
My Dad turned me on to it a few weeks ago.
Right now Edison is busy dicking over Tesla and so, late in the series but I highly reccomend!

It's entertaining and interesting, but my skepticism alarms went off when they had Jim Cramer as one of the commenters.
Check the historical records, and you'll find that the history in the series is about as accurate as one of Jim Cramer's "can't miss" stock picks

My mother and sister watch that show, so I get force to overhear a lot.
I've always been stunned by the time the lead accused her husband of sleeping with her best friend. This would be a volatile statement, except the best friend was a complete stranger at the time. As I said to my family, shouldn't you instead be crediting me for introducing you to your now best friend, by way of my penis and both of your vaginas?
Or worse, she could be forced to pal around with Sarah Jessica Parker and her idiot cohort.

I remember machines like the Atari Portfolio, which was a handheld PC clone that used SRAM cards for storage. I sold a few in one of my long ago computer store jobs. Trying to tell kids there used to be stores that just sold computers is akin to trying to explain that stores that just sold vinyl records were once common. And video rental shops were quite large affairs, not a vending machine in the supermarket.
Lawn, mine, off.

Its setup with a right turn only lane, but across the intersection there's a perfectly fine lane you can drive right across into -- IOW, there's no lane pinch off, and no rational reason for the right turn only designation. They sit across the street hiding behind a gas station sign and pop anyone who drives through without making a right turn.
Obviously, the intersection has been specifically setup as a trap for anyone driving through who's not familiar with the area. Yet they've gotten away with this ploy for decades.
I used to hang with the LBTS cops when I was living in Pompano and they just laughed about it. Nobody in the town objected because it was keeping the taxes down, and they all knew about it.
