Terrorist Infrastructure Trial Run in San Jose, CA?
Somebody shot up a PG&E sub-station and then moved on to a separate ATT fiber hub and cut the fibers which included 911 lines for the area. I know this area and this was no accidental/drunken attack since they had to open specific manholes to get access to the fibers and also targeted each of the transformers.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department said there was a breach of the security fence at approximately 3:25 a.m., and five transformers at the substation were vandalized by the gunfire.Meanwhile, AT&T has now also blamed a large telephone outage in southern Santa Clara County Tuesday morning on vandalism.
Cell phones and landlines were said to be impacted by apparent damage to a fiber optic line. That line, which runs relatively close to PG&E's substation, was believed to have been cut.

Bottom line is that no one knows nothing about what will succeed and execution matters.
Brownells Explains Why Ammo and Gun Accessories Are So Scarce
We don't realize how intertwined the varied shooting disciplines really are. You may have a hard time figuring out why you can't find reloading components for shot shells. But consider this: all ammunition shares some base-level components - powder, primers and projectiles. The ammunition to fuel your gun of choice, be it a rifle, pistol or shotgun, is in competition with every other gun and ammo for the basic components and the manufacturer's machine time to assemble them.
Companies don't have independent production lines for every gun they make or every caliber of ammunition they load.
That time is shared across all their lines, and it's tough to pull the tools and computer controlled programming for AR-style rifles to fill other orders. Simple business sense says you have to keep working to meet the highest-demand orders. If buyers give up on buying your gun, they're going to go looking elsewhere.
So your favorite round or gun may be finding itself pushed further down the production schedule. As that happens, existing inventory shrinks - even if the demand isn't anything approaching those uber-hot black rifles.
You might be feeling the pinch, but it's not really some secret conspiracy to keep you from having guns or ammunition. It's the market reacting to unprecedented demand for products.
And manufacturers are hiring.
Mike Weddle, head of maintenance at Dynamic Research Technologies, an ammunition manufacturer in Albany, Mo., says he is adding 10 new hires to his staff of 35. DRT's machine operators make between $10 and $17 an hour -- a healthy paycheck in a region where it's tough to find a job and the cost of living is relatively low.
DRT currently cranks out 80,000 bullets per shift and operates two shifts per day. But that's not enough to meet demand. So Weddle is adding a third manufacturing shift and building an additional facility.
"Demand picked up a year ago -- it quadrupled," he said. "It just went crazy." He says .223 caliber ammo, which is for semiautomatic rifles, is particularly difficult to keep in stock.
But they're limited by the competition for qualified employees:
Jacob Herman, chief operating officer for Red Jacket Firearms in Baton Rouge, La., agrees that finding qualified workers is the biggest hurdle for his business, which has an 18-month long blacklog of orders. Red Jacket, a family-owned company with 30 employees, makes AR15 semiautomatic rifles but has had to stop taking new orders for the time being.
"Finding skilled machinists and advanced skilled labor is one of the biggest problems that we face in getting products out the door," said Herman.
"The firearms industry is fighting for the same employees as the exploding oil business, both here in the Gulf [of Mexico] and in the Dakotas," said Herman, referring to the oil boom in North Dakota, where workers are flocking for jobs with Halliburton (HAL, Fortune 500), Continental Resources (CLR), Hess (HES, Fortune 500) and Whiting Petroleum (WLL).

6 Mind-Blowing Things Recently Discovered From WWII
Including the secret Nazi surveillance base in North America that wasn't discovered until the 80's.
While German U boats would occasionally shoot holes in ships off the coast of North Carolina during WWII, we generally think of fighting Nazis as an away game for Canada and the United States. So you can imagine how surprising it was when Canada found out in the early 80s that Germans once mounted a fully armed expedition into their country without anyone even noticing.

And, as for his character: yes, I'd prefer an honest military dictatorship over Palpatine's populist tyranny. I wonder if he'd been in a plot to assassinate the Fuehrer - and that this was the real reason Vader wanted him dead.

I have an idea. The next time some gun control freak blathers on about private sale background checks, ask why all car sales, public and private, shouldn't require a background check to assure that the buyer has a driver's license and is an American citizen.
I mean, why not? Illegals kill people with their cars all the time. They're more likely to drive drunk and almost never have insurance. And anyone who's driving without a license is also more likely to do harm.
So why shouldn't a private car sale require this? Tough shit if it's a hassle for the seller. IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN.
Watch them squirm.

You are correct. One of the biggest problems as you point out is perpetuation of inaccurate information. This is relevant in terms of drug allergies but also in terms of actual current active medications. You also see a lot of inaccurate info perpetuated because docs or other providers "cut and paste" from previous notes by different docs, frequently without even reading what they are pasting into their own note.

This is one of the saner parts:
On May 23, 2003, an intoxicated assistant district attorney pushed me backwards during a debate about corruption in northeast, MS. and then put a loaded 9 mm bereta to my head in front of my (then) wife and 2 sons, ages 7 and 9.
I didn't know at the time he was an assistant DA in Tupelo. All I knew was that the city hired him to play rythem guitar in a special new production that I developed including my older brother Jack. The show was gaining attention as we are the only brother duo Elvis Presley Tribute act in the world.
Pat Rasberry, executive director of the Tupelo Convention & Visitor's Bureau drove up right at the moment he put the gun to my head and cocked it. I had my hands up in the air. She jumped out of her car and he threw the gun into his truck like nothing ever happened.
I filed charges against him for assault but instead of HIM going to jail for almost killing me in front of my family, the police showed up at my door and arrested ME.

In what could only be describe as govt planning, he said his MOS school isn't due to start until July. He is thinking of heading home to help with recruiting (spending time with gf) for a month and then going back. What a monumental waste of time and money for the USMC to send him there now.
The problem is that they can't really send him anywhere else. They can't send him to a line unit since he hasn't completed his training, and the only other option would be to keep him at basic training working for one of the companies.
When I was a new lieutenant some of my peers from OCS ran into the same problem. They had class dates that were three or four months away, so they were made to wait around at the appropriate post until their date hit.
When I was an LT getting ready to pin Captain, I requested to be sent to the Career Course before my next assignment. My branch manager sent me with a report date in February, but didn't tell me that my class didn't start until June. I took advantage of the time to take other courses, but it still sucked.

oh sure now you hop on the terrorist attack on infrastructure bandwagon. I have been squawking for 2 years about the seemingly random substation and gas main and other splodey events and everyone tells me "that's to be expected for blah blah reason" Ha I say Ha.
I bet if someone had more energy and search smarts than me one could make a map of a bunch of "random infrastructure accidents" that have occurred over the last few years and see that maybe some of them weren't so random or so accidental. But whatevs, I'm just paranoid.

Nietzsche respun, is it not?
Not that hard to teach yourself how to lower the debate to an a non-intellectual (purely emotivist) level.
Alasdair MacIntyre notes this has been a decay ever since Descartes and was fully achieved with Nietzsche. Ailansky just distilled it to the point that an idiot could understand it.
I'd note that I was just at a Catholic health conference where someone suggested we should be using Alainsky's tactics against "them" (there's always a nebulous "Them" to these people, conservatives, the bishops, conservative Catholics.
I almost did a spit take. Nobody called the [lady] on it either. Dude dedicated his book to Satan, but we should totally be using his methods to push our personal views of Catholic healthcare! Seriously you guys. (And I wonder why they don't like me at this conference.)

Yeah.
The guys at BB a) don't know how a grant works. b) Don't know what a satellite phone is (stolen from someone else) and c) didn't really even bother to read the damn bill (not that any senators will either.)
If you consider it, setting aside even a couple million for a *grant* program (which should be competitive, not needs based) to get people phones to call Boarder patrol is actually a pretty decent use of funds (although the phones should be locked to 911 and boarder patrol.)

That's the 4th season? Not the 3rd? That Bob's Burgers one didn't do it for me. Loved the 2nd one about Troy Lucas going rogue and the ghey love for Archer. The 3rd one about the rocket launcher and vent shaft was not bad... about on par for the older seasons. Will have to go back and get the 3rd season also if that's not the new ones.

Having a dull, unmotivated day at home has a lot going for it, considering.

Just got back from picking up the 3rd season. Gotta have those pirate episodes. Probably my faves. They go up to 11 on the awesome scale. And the Mars colony ones. I thought it was only up to season 3, now. Thanks for the heads up on that.

No one is going to believe this, but I'm watching a show on MSNBC (long story) called "All In". A guest was rambling about not knowing if the Boston bombing was international terrorism or rightwing terrorism, and the MSNBC host, a guy named Chris Hayes, states, "Well, it could also be a leftwing terrorist".
Almost fell out of my chair....

To offer some "Clair"
Why did this plant in WACO blow up today?
How many years has this plant been operating without a single incident?

If there is a place in there to change permissions without messing directly with system files it's very well hidden. My phone running the same generation of the OS doesn't have this problem but it is a different manufacturer and so the version of Android could have considerable differences.
It's 2013. This kind of crap shouldn't come up anymore in a shipping product.

Nobody tests anymore, they sample a few things and ship it.
Some of this is due to organizational structure.
Many companies put their test groups under the development organization, which is really only valid for unit/function level testing, and even then there's often pressure for the test groups to "help" development rather than crater their builds and flaky shit to the best of your ability.
Usability and system/integration testing should NEVER be under a development organization. They should report directly to the executive responsible for the product as a whole, or you risk having test results massaged and shaped by the development manager to look like good news. (this is one of the structural problems that mortally wounded OS/2 on the PPC)

Unless its a torched bagel cooked too long in a microwave (I saw that clear out a whole building at IBM once), I'm calling "not-coincidence" on this whole string of shit.
We've transitioned from probably was, to probably ain't.
