— Open Blogger Howdy, Morons and Moronettes. tmi3rd here, and I'll be filling in tonight for CDR M and Maetenloch, who had other pressing engagements. Apparently, smoking and curing hobo meat takes time and care, and that tranny hooker porn ain't gonna watch itself.
For those who miss the regulars, they should be back at their regularly scheduled time... as long as the dead hoboes didn't have hepatitis, worms, or something equally appetizing.
Update as we head to publishing time: prayers for everyone in central Oklahoma. It's just been one thing after another for these folks. The situation is still active as of 9 PM Central, so I'll offer no updates- they won't be timely.
Please, if you're in the affected area, stay tuned to your local emergency management broadcasting, and stay safe.
Pimping Friends Of The Moron Nation
One of the things that's come up lately in discussions about the conservative blogosphere is that we've kind of gotten away from promoting each other. Nothing drives up traffic like the classic Instalanche or Acealanche, and so I figured I'd help out a bit.
In the land of radio, I've struck up a bit of a conversation with Jonathan Weir, who is the morning host of the "Yet-To-Be-Named Jonathan Weir Show" on KMBZ, the big AM talker in Kansas City. Well, it turns out that Jonathan is a lurker over here in Moronville, and routinely gives us shout-outs on the air. In addition, he's just a really great guy, a fun talk show host, and refreshingly not given to drama for drama's sake. Follow him on Twitter if you would, and if you're available from 9-11 Central, check out his show. We're working on getting the station to give him some podcasts, but all things in good time.
On the print media side, it's not like Jim Geraghty's Morning Jolt is some big secret, but he tends to link to us a lot, and tosses us a lot of love (be it for Ace, Drew, Gabe, ArthurK, et al), and his daily, along with Jonah Goldberg's G-File, are required reading in the tmi3rd household.
And here in BlogLand, allow me to introduce you to the blog of longtime Moron Blackiswhite, Imperial Consigliere. It's titled The Sure Things Of Life, and here's his Twitter feed. Blackiswhite has been with us for a very long time, and I've had to get to know him a little better through the power of social media. His legal commentary is without peer, and he's just once again a great guy.
Got This Next One From XbradTC...

Sounds like fun. Anyone try this stuff yet?
Speaking of heat, here's something to get you in the mood for summer as the pools start opening up...
MMA Fighter Sues Sex Shop, Claims Pleasure Gel Permanently Ruined Penis

Via Moronette Teresa in Fort Worth, I don't think this guy actually has a case. He'd used the gel before, so he's not allergic. Read the piece and see what you think...
And finally, from longtime Moron MrFixit...

Just because I care.
You crazy kids have fun! Thanks for reading!

I got hit with a speeding ticket--my one and only time--and called up a friendly neighborhood lawyer, who "fixed" it down to a non-moving violation . . . some BS violation on the books, as far as I can tell, for precisely that purpose.
Minimal fine, no points, no insurance hit. Had to pay the lawyer something like a hundred bucks. Probably money well spent.
This approach probably works better in bigger cities--mainly because urban cops sometimes won't even bother showing up to testify in traffic offense cases in larger urban areas.

It it were up to me I would be at the humane society tomorrow. My daughter has always said there will never be another dog that could compare to Spike so I don't think she will have any interest. I kinda wonder if this was the best way it could have happened. It was instant so no pain. I don't think I could bear it down the road if I would have had to take him in to be put to sleep. At 15 the day was coming I am sure. Well off to blubber in my pillow some more before daughter gets home. Thanks again you all.

Forbes has a new article up about what Obamacare's doing to the insurance rates in California. And it appears that the Forbes article that my acquaintance linked yesterday just got a nice slap down.
The effect is a mixed bag. Some areas of the state will actually see a decline. Los Angeles County appears to be largely unaffected as a whole. But if you live in Orange County, the Bay Area, or a handful of other locations...
For the curious - tinyurl.com/lffqj5r
On the one hand, it's nice to see the nonsensical claim that everything was coming up roses disproved. On the other, it's gonna suck for those who have their rates skyrocket as a result (or for those who have to pay for skyrocketing employee rates).

Ah, Peaches, you're the best.
I paid the ticket two days ago. It was only $76, so I'm not too worried about it. It's a scam, but so much of our government is these days. Besides, it was the end of a weekend of naughty sex, scotch, and cigars, so I'm not going to complain too much.
I think instead I'll go dancing and then have a cigar and a cocktail.

I like Diesel trucks, but there is no fucking way I will buy a new one if I have to pour a jug of monkey piss into it to "regenerate" the exhaust catalyst. And that "Diesel Exhaust Fluid" is piss, in a way. It's a solution of urea.

Anybody willing to bet that these women aren't Gypsies, posing as muslims, because they know muslims will get a pass for that behavior? And Gypsies come from the same Indo-Aryan stock as Pakistanis or Bangladeshis, so the deception would be easy to pull off.

Pro tip: it can help to set the front edge of the mower deck a notch higher than the rear, especially in heavy grass. That way, the front edge of the blade lops it off at, say, two inches, and the rear edge at one inch. Result: finer cuttings, and the engine doesn't seem to work as hard. It's my standard operating procedure with the walk-behind.

I learned my lesson about running from weather a long time ago. Pensacola, 1995. Went to bed one night, Hurricane Opal was headed to Ft Walton as a cat 3. Next morning, they said it had turned and strengthened, heading to Pensacola as a cat 5. Everybody evacuated. I didn't want to, but since I still llived with my parents I did as I was told. Took us four hours to get to Mobile, usually an hour drive. Realized if it hit while we were sitting in traffic that was going to be a bad day.
I don't get why anybody would advise running from a tornado or a related t-storm. That shit moves fast.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal appeals court panel Friday unanimously upheld an Obama administration requirement that dealers in southwestern border states report when customers buy multiple high-powered rifles.
The firearms industry trade group, the National Shooting Sports Foundation, and two Arizona gun sellers had argued that the administration overstepped its legal authority in the 2011 regulation, which applies to gun sellers in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.
The requirement, issued in what is known as a demand letter, compels those sellers to report to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives when anyone buys — within a five-day period — two or more semi-automatic weapons capable of accepting a detachable magazine and with a caliber greater than .22. The ATF says the requirement is needed to help stop the flow of guns to Mexican drug cartels.
The fast and furious boning is complete.

And here comes Obama. He nearly blew apart the Fiat deal. Had to re-negotiate. These pols in Washington, they have no basic business sense. They should not be in charge of any business, such as, say, health insurance or student loans. Or selling autos. The Feds are only good at a very, very narrow set of stuff. The US Constitution lays it out pretty well. The federal government is best as a small, limited enterprise. The sprawling behemoth that it has become is a travesty, and also a threat to freedom.

509 why do wisdom teeth have to suck so much?

-----------
I don't want to sound all "ha-ha, sucks to be you" but I sincerely have no idea. I'm 45 and have never gotten wisdom teeth. 28 only. 32 is for compensators.
Posted by: irright at June 01, 2013 01:10 AM (DtNNC)
Wisdom teeth is an example of "evolution in action".
Originally, having another set of molars extended your ability to grind foods -- without wisdom teeth, you have eight molars; with them, you have 12. But grinding foods isn't so cool when you have industrial food-grinders (e.g. grain mills). So it wasn't so important to have functional ones, and people stopped dying of famine when they were dysfunctional.
As they grew more and more dysfunctional, wisdom teeth started being a problem by coming in crooked or in insufficient space....so people with impacted wisdom teeth started to become scarce when they died from related infections....until dentists arrived to yank 'em.
So having problematic wisdom teeth is a multiply-evolved situation based on human innovation.....and, if you're the inquirin' type, makes you wonder how badly people might be impacted by anti-climate-change measures....

Things are not how they were. You cannot argue over policies any more without assassinating the advocates for the other side. Everything has gone to Alinsky. Bureaucracies have debates over whether they are subject to the rule of law. Reality matters less than spin.....except to the people, who live in the real world.
I'd welcome you to my nation to share my dream, but fear that you'll find that this nation has betrayed it. I hope that we can both work together to fulfill the promise that this administration has so abused.

You misspelled "four," as in "four meals a day," since this is a case of fobbits and REMFs anonymously complaining about losing mid-rats.
At least that is the consensus at "THisAin'tHell..."

What are your thoughts on a 1200 vs 1400 calorie per day diet?
Posted by: Niedermeyer's Dead Horse at June 01, 2013 01:40 AM (DPdf7)
just cut out wheat and anything with rice, or corn syrup in it, then eat plenty of lean grilled meat of any kind and any veggies prepared however you like (except breaded) and i gaurandamn tee you will lose weight. Dont go hungry. your body will rebel and hang on to fat. but if you ride the bike and walk and eat like this you will lose weigh steadily.
fats not so bad. but certain carbs especially from wheat gluten and starchy foods like rice or french fries and corn sugar are not so great for you. our bodies pack it on. Lean meat, oatmeal, and steamed veggies, salad wont make you fat and will help you lose lbs slow enough to keep it off

I have gained a lot of weight since being out of work on disability.
I exercise on the recumbent bike only about 15-20 minutes a day but I'm trying to work that upwards.
What are your thoughts on a 1200 vs 1400 calorie per day diet?

The BH went through the hmr program and lost about 100 pounds....but I've been doing something informal that is more like the Taub that Insty advocates with a sliver of Atkins and have lost 35. We've both been helped by finding an activity that isn't a chore -- hiking trails in local parks [we'd previously done SCUBA some years back, but the BH got bent].

And it is absolutely, 100% poison. Problem is, starches don't fill you up -- so you just eat more of 'em. Meats, veggies, fruits, oils....you get full. Starches, not so much. So you inevitably end up with a nation of weight-gainers from anyone who listened to the government.

I remembered. thats why i brought up the moderation and shitloads of steamed veggies way to you. I too have health issues. so i cant just go off and starve myself when i look squishy. I have to carefully plan my intake and balance it. learn to loved baked chicken breast, and roasted baby veggies with a salad for lunch and dinner and a bowl of oats for breakie or better yet Muscle Milk protein drink (i like blueberry flavor or vanilla run thru the blender with some fruit) this protein intake first thing when you get up will kick start your metabolism and help you not be so hungry!
it will also help your heart deal with you losing weight and not make your issues worse.

this is super good advice. also Tea with honey in it. same reason. i am a weirdo who likes plain sun tea straight up no sugar. This is even better if you can do it and tannic acid settles a grumpy tummy, the water fills it up and the caffine may or may not be ok (substitute herb tea if not i like all kinds)

Posted by: Niedermeyer's Dead Horse at June 01, 2013 02:04 AM (DPdf7)
easy to get and most non gross protien drink. hmmm. Also Musclepharm (look the site up) has a supplement called Armor that is a nutritional thing that along with the muscle milk will give you a rounded nutrition. Has probiotics in it that makes a cranky system chill out and do what its sposed to. BEST STUFF EVER. Grim discovered it in when he was in afghanistan and his diet options were crap. Really helped my mom recover after she almost died from a gut puncture. Shes got Lupus and a bad heart too. She felt so much better that she asked me if the capsules had speed in them. I was like "No mom. Just vitamins in a nutritionally bioavailable matrix. Most vitamins you just piss out. these your body can absorb. Thats whats making you feel fabulous."
So its that good. and why yes, i am a health nut.

Last I checked, flouridated water was worthy of ridicule in Dr. Strangelove. So, I mentioned that it was probably the least of the problems with what he was drinking and told him he should request a water quality report from his supplier. Further, I told him that IBM had a superfund site where they were pumping out groundwater at some contaminant at 6 ppm when the acceptable standard for >tapwater< was 5 ppm.....and that those rat bastards had suggested that they pump water out of their sinful, contaminated wells, mix it 1:1 with regular system water [thus diluting 6 ppm to 3 ppm], and send that out into the water system for people to drink.
I imagine that he's still trying to figure out whether to shit or go blind. His grievance-studies degree left him woefully unprepared for such discourse.
