Why You're Not Going To Recall Marco Rubio

Here Moe Lane points out all the steps that would be necessary in order to recall Rubio over his push for amnesty (which apparently is a thing now).

  1. Pass a Constitutional amendment in Congress that would permit states to recall federal legislators.  ANYBODY WHO IS TELLING YOU THAT THIS IS NOT A NECESSARY STEP IS EITHER WRONG, OR PERNICIOUS.  You will be able to tell which by whether or not that person is asking for your credit card number.
  2. Have that Constitutional amendment get ratified by the states.
  3. Pass legislation in Florida that would give the state the ability to recall federal legislators.
  4. Start a recall on Marco Rubio.
  5. Have it succeed.
  6. Win the resulting recall election.

I'm a bit more optimistic than Lane is and think this could all be wrapped up by say late 2026.

Look we already have a process for getting rid of politicians that lie to us: elections. The next one is in 2016. Yeah it's a ways off but then generally a skilled politician is also capable of keeping the mask on most of the way through his first term.

And in case you missed it from Ace's earlier thread: Angela Corey is a Monster

Olbermann-attacks-tea-party

Sir Adrian Paul Ghislain Carton de Wiart VC, KBE, CB, CMG, DSO

This is the first paragraph of his wikipedia entry:

Sir Adrian Paul Ghislain Carton de Wiart VC, KBE, CB, CMG, DSO (5 May 1880 - 5 June 1963), was a British Army officer of Belgian and Irish descent. He served in the Boer War, First World War, and Second World War; was shot in the face, head, stomach, ankle, leg, hip, and ear; survived a plane crash; tunneled out of a POW camp; and bit off his own fingers when a doctor refused to amputate them. He later wrote that "Frankly I had enjoyed the war" when describing his service in the First World War.

And that's but a very brief summary of an amazing life. Here's just one of his many escapades during WWII:

His orders were to take the city of Trondheim, 125 miles (200 km) to the south, in conjunction with a naval attack and an advance from the south by troops landed at Ã…ndalsnes.

...Despite these handicaps, Carton de Wiart managed to move his forces over the mountains and down to Trondheimsfjord, where they were shelled by German destroyers. They had no artillery to challenge the German ships. It soon became apparent that the whole Norwegian campaign was fast becoming a failure. The naval attack on Trondheim, the reason for the Namsos landing, did not happen and his troops were exposed without guns, transport, air cover or skis in a foot and a half of snow. They were being attacked by German ski troops, machine gunned and bombed from the air, and the German Navy was landing troops to his rear. He recommended withdrawal but was asked to hold his position for political reasons, which he did.

After orders and counterorders from London, the decision to evacuate was made. However, on the date set to evacuate the troops, the ships did not show. The next night a naval force finally arrived, led through the fog by Lord Louis Mountbatten. The transports successfully evacuated the entire force amid heavy bombardment by the Germans, resulting in the sinking of a French and a British destroyer, HMS Afridi.

And he was something of an artiste as well:

In male company he was 'a delightful character and must hold the world record for bad language.'

NYC Gets a Pre-Dawn WTF Message

Jenny McCarthy's Dangerous Views

Thanks Baba Wawa for giving her an even larger platform to misinform from.

McCarthy, who is savvy, telegenic, and pulchritudinous, is also the person most visibly associated with the deadly and authoritatively discredited anti-vaccine movement in the United States. She is not subtle: McCarthy once essentially threatened the actress Amanda Peet, who has often spoken out about the obvious benefits of childhood vaccinations, by warning Peet that she had an angry mob on her side. When people disagree with her views on television, McCarthy has been known to refute scientific data by shouting "bullshit."

How James Bond Inspired the CIA's Gadgets

[Allen] Dulles freely admitted that the CIA at the time didn't really have a kind of tech laboratory. They just weren't doing the kind of stuff that Fleming had seen the Brits do during the Second World War. Fleming worked very closely with SOE, the Special Operations Executive. He'd seen the exploding rats and the briefcases with daggers and gas canisters and all this kind of stuff.

But Dulles was relatively new to all of this. He would ask his engineers at CIA to try to replicate some of Bond's technology, and he admits in both of those places that the CIA managed to replicate Rosa Klebb's poison-tipped dagger shoe, but completely failed to replicate the tracking device, the homing beacon, which James Bond uses in the film Goldfinger to try to track the whereabouts of Goldfinger's Rolls Royce. And Dulles admits that the CIA built the device but it just didn't work in a city.

but considering Mark "just swooned"...maybe we won't have to...

if the GOP er VAG wants to make the argument we can't remove Mark the Rube with a recall I guess I'm just gonna have to make Mark my hobby and fund a primary opponent and then if that fails the democrat.

Challenge accepted.

137 Really and truly, I have to throw in the towel and say it: The Republican Party needs to die. Really. There was a very good debate that Gerard Van Der Leun put up on American Digest a few days (?) ago, and one guy made very good points about re-building it from within, which would not be easy, but easier than starting up a new party from scratch. And he is right. But until you KILL the Republican Party, it will still be flailing around with these IDIOTS that claim they are "on our side". I know Barry and Democrats hate me (not me personally, but the typical American I seem to be), but they really don't try to hide it. I am not voting for them. But when these.....PEOPLE... claim to be on "my side" and voting for "my interests" and then giggle and stab me in the back.....again, and again, and again. Color me a slow learner, but really, this is the last straw.

my people have been fighting for the English definition of liberty as it once existed for oh about 1000 years documented....

we lost, our "own" side quit....

they won't be punished in this life God grant it be so in the next.

We lack the will to fight the calumny we stalk democrats to kill when the accused is in fact a fucking democrat.

I have no positive advice, no hopeful thoughts left to give.

I would hurt them if the main body of the Right would support it and there was in fact a civil war....

I will never be a "lone nut terrorist" b/c well "honor".....

I'm sorry.  I gave those bastards almost twice what I tithed God...

Yes, that is some first class hot right there, and worth some risk, for a certain amount of time, as you say. But her eyes are mostly normal, so one may approach with a reasonable expectation of later escape. Have you seen Ms. McCarthy's eyes? Dead serious, not everyone owns a gun, but how many people do you know own exactly one? The "urban morass" is a part of this, though, there are probably vast swathes of city drones that have none. But I expect the real number is better than 1:1. Bob Hope had like 800 or something. Most people I know have at least 3. Sometimes that's "per family," though.

The first time I remember her publicly showing this much fondness for an African-American was when she made a sex tape with some loser rapper named Ray J and it was publicly released (though Kardashian now spends her time getting impregnated out of wedlock by Kanye West). 241 Strontium -90 cannot be purchased at the local drugstore, or for that matter, most anywhere. It is actually pretty expensive from a handful of specialty chemical sellers. It is a radioactive isotope that was supposed to be deathdust when used to jacket H-bombs (start with normal Strontium). Displaces Calcium in your body, does all kinds of bad things, in a war bomb. I guess. Don't think that any jacketed H-bombs have gone off in Jenny's Hoohah, but I may be mistaken here.

263 Chelation is not without risks either. Unless you know your child has exposure to heavy metals, its not helpful probably. There is a strong genetic component with spectrum disorders. Ms McCarthy ignores that. She claims he is "cured ", well it ain't over. I have seen her sweet boy and he looks and behaves an awful lot like mine, who is not " cured ". She thinks her kid is a "star child", a more evolved human. I guess that's how she gets through a day. But which is it? A gifted more evolved kind of human? Or a child damaged by vaccines. She is a dangerous nut. God bless her child.

Pain meds in hand. ice cold water pumped ice pack on and this weird shock device called TENS. Highlight of day sweet hot nurses doting on me. lowlight of day, one of the same hot young nurses was putting these surgical leggings on me, tugging the tight fitting garment over my thigh when her hand slipped off and she punched me in my un protected balls under the surgical gown. 492 I've seen lots of snark aimed at those of us who loathe Rubio for his betrayal. The gist seems to be that all politicians do as Rubio did so we need to grow the hell up mmmkay? Rubio is a different case. He sold himself as a real-deal conservative, a guy with Tea Party roots and solid base support, only to shed that 'Tea Party extremist' image as soon as it became politically advantageous to do so. He acted as point man on that immigration reform deal for two reasons: doing so gave him an in with big money GOP Establishment donors hot for some of that sweet, cheap labor, and to broaden his appeal to the supposedly moderate middle, thus enhancing his electability in the 2016 general campaign should he win the primaries. No, there's no recalling Rubio no matter how badly Florida conservatives might want that result. The good side? He's got to win the primaries first, and he's got to go through us, the conservative base, to do it. I'll support any GOP primary candidate, no matter how unappealing or seemingly unelectable, who makes it a point to go after that combed-over, sweaty little dwarf at every opportunity and nail his treacherous, cynical, opportunistic hide to the wall.

503 Pass a Constitutional amendment in Congress that would permit states to recall federal legislators.  ANYBODY WHO IS TELLING YOU THAT THIS IS NOT A NECESSARY STEP IS EITHER WRONG, OR PERNICIOUS.  You will be able to tell which by whether or not that person is asking for your credit card number. Have that Constitutional amendment get ratified by the states. Pass legislation in Florida that would give the state the ability to recall federal legislators. Start a recall on Marco Rubio. Have it succeed. Win the resulting recall election. Can't we just have someone with no legal authority to do so, just waive the requirements for  #1 through #5 until 2014 and win the recall before the waiver expires?

Nothing like screwing over a couple hundred hard working kids that have been busting their ass their whole lives preparing for this. I think he should Follow Jimmy around until he catches him in one of his rare lucid moments and ask how that worked out for him. 535 I copied this from a government website a while back:

* If you break a CFL light bulb, follow these directions for clean-up:
Leave the room
+ Remove people and pets from the room and keep them out of the room during the clean-up process.
+ Avoid stepping on any broken glass.

Ventilation
+ Ventilate the room for at least 15 minutes prior to starting clean-up by opening windows and doors to the outdoors. This will ensure that mercury vapour levels are reduced before you start cleaning.

Clean-up Directions for Hard and Carpeted Surfaces
+ Do not use a vacuum to clean up the initial breakage, as it will spread the mercury vapour and dust throughout the area and may contaminate the vacuum.
+ Wear disposable gloves, if available, to avoid direct contact with mercury and to prevent cuts.
+ Scoop or sweep up the broken pieces and debris with two pieces of stiff paper or cardboard. Do not use a broom.
+ Use sticky tape, such as duct tape or masking tape, to pick up any remaining fine glass or powder.
+ Wipe the area with a damp paper towel, cloth or disposable wet wipe to remove any residual particles.
+ Place the broken glass and clean-up materials in a glass container with a tight fitting lid to further minimize the release of mercury vapour.

Carpeting - Steps to Take After the Initial Clean-up
+ If the rug is removable, take it outside, shake and air it out for as long as is practical.
 # The first time you vacuum on installed carpet after the clean-up, shut the door to the room or close off the area as much as possible and ventilate the room in which the lamp was broken by opening the windows and doors to the outside. When the vacuuming is done, remove the bag, wipe the vacuum with a damp paper towel, cloth or disposable wet wipe, and then place the vacuum bag and paper towel in a sealed plastic bag outside. In the case of a canister vacuum, wipe the canister out with a wet paper towel and dispose of the towel as outlined above. Continue to ventilate the room for 15 minutes once the vacuuming is completed.

Disposal
+ Immediately place waste material outside of the building in a protected area away from children.
+ Room with an open door: Dispose of the waste at a household hazardous waste location as soon as possible. Check with local, provincial, or territorial authorities about the requirements for recycling and for the location of household hazardous waste depots or pick-up.
+ Do not dispose of the waste in your household trash.
+ For further information on disposal, please contact Environment Canada.

Washing
+ Wash your hands with cold water after storing and disposing of waste.

Additional Information
o Remove and install the CFL by handling only the base of the lamp to prevent any unnecessary pressure on the glass that may cause it to break.
o Consider using a drop cloth when replacing a CFL to minimize the chance of breakage should the lamp fall or to protect the flooring and assist in clean-up should the bulb drop and break.
o Store fluorescent lamps in containers that prevent them from breaking, such as in their original packaging.
o Consider avoiding the use of CFLs in areas where the lamps may be easily broken.

Assuming you're being serious, Patriots fans don't claim that the Giants cheated in the '07 Super Bowl. Intead, you'll hear a lot of complaining about Tyree's ridiculous helmet catch after Eli Manning was about .1 seconds from being called in the grasp or Asante Samuel's blown interception late in the game that would've sealed the win. No cheating, just getting the breaks that the Patriots had received all season up to that point, which is why they were 18-0 at the time. Same thing was true two years ago when the Patriots-Giants met in the Super Bowl again.

I wasn't around when the break happened so I don't know if he left the room for 15 minutes to let it settle.
I picked up the big pieces with a gloved hand (I've got latex gloves around for hobby uses) and used cardboard to scoop up the other broken bits. I've got a handivac so I used that for vacuuming the 'fixed' carpet and then threw out the filter bag in the bag I used for the broken pieces.
And, lo and behold, I'm still here relatively compos mentis.

569 "Mayor Parker, huuuuuge lib, either has to tell Quannell X no, or piss off the millionaires and billionaire in River Oaks."

Simple enough. Have River Oaks secede from the rest of Houston.

Out here in The People's Soviet Socialist Republic Of Commiefornia, we have several such independent urban enclaves.

Beverly Hills is the most prominent of them, in SoCal. Which is a city in its own right, despite being submerged in the sweaty morass of greater Los Angeles.

In like manner, in NorCal, within massively liberal Oakland, there is the tiny municipal inclusion of Piedmont resolutely maintaining its independence.

I think that the Piedmont police department have a canned recording that they play to 9-1-1 callers just over the border in Oakland, saying, "You may live half a block away from us, but we have no legal responsibility to answer police calls where you live, goodbye."

Given that the Oakland PD are outnumbered and outgunned about 10:1 by the Oakland street thugs these days, this is not a popular message, but it's a necessary one.

It just seemed like an argument for capital punishment, which struck me as funny since the same friend was intensely against that.) I torrented the first episode and the few minutes I could bear to watch were really depressing. Not that I was already in a good mood but I fail to see the attraction.

583 "The big issue with CFLs is mercury, so according to Jenny McCarthy, you're now autistic."

Except that there is a metric fuckton more mercury in a CFL than there is in a vaccination shot.

It's been a while since I looked up the EPA guidelines on how much mercury vapor per cubic liter of air was considered hazardous, but the last time I did, a bit of quick calculator work showed that one broken CFL in a standard American single-family home qualified it as a Superfund site.

Not to worry you or anytthing, but... WORRY.

587 CFL
http://preview.tinyurl.com/2elryb
"CFLs contain a very small amount of mercury sealed within the glass tubing – an average of 4 milligrams (mg)."

EPA estimates the U.S. is responsible for the release of 103 metric tons of mercury emissions each year. More than half of these emissions come from coal-fired electrical power.

If all the CFL bulbs sold in 2009 were sent to a landfill. .it would add about 0.12 metric tons (265 pounds) of mercury to the environment.

Funny that he pulls Brady in that instance.  Because the quarterback that Brady most often gets compared to has shined in those instances.  Even once against the Patriots.  Peyton Manning.  Ask the Cheatriots if being up by 3 touchdowns in the 4th quarter is enough of a cushion against him.  Ask the Tampa Bay Bucaneers.

649 I'm miserable. I have a badly kinked muscle in my neck and can't sleep. I've been painfully tossing and turning for 3 hours now. Back, right side, left side, stomach, in the bed and on the floor, it doesn't matter. No sleep. Slathered that fucker with icy hot, tried a heating pad, nothing. I just took an Oxycontin pill I had left over from dental surgery a while back. That's how bad things are. I didn't take it then because I prefer not to medicate unless absolutely necessary and dental surgery wasn't enough. This is. FML, I gotta get some sleep.

654 Seriously, a year and change ago (not coincidentally the same timeframe as the birth of my son) I got insomnia, not able to sleep with my heart pounding and pounding.  My doctor said it was high BP driven by insomnia --arther than the other way around-- and prescribed Zopliclone (or however it's spelled), which I think is generic Lunesta.  Works like a dream, almost literally.  Works better than booze to knock me out.

Hell, even if you need a prescription for Lunesta, just buy Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Extra and that will help a lot.

709 At this point Rubio isn't worried about re-election directly.  The business interests are keeping him on his fund raising targets.

He is sweating being 5th in Iowa - a decline directly related to him being Schumer's patsy.  He's sweating Cruz going to New Hampshire.  What will get his attention is if notable Conservative organizations in Florida start headlining speaking events, etc. with potential challengers.  A nice op-ed written by a well regarded Florida hack putting some alternatives in play would be great.
