George Zimmerman: History's Greatest Monster

The Crime Spree Continues: Zimmerman Assaults, Drags Innocent Family From Their Car

And left his vehicle without permission. Again.

Zimmerman-White-copy1

Zimmerman Profiled Black Men For No Good Reason

Well other than they matched the description given by one of the burglary victims. And descriptions are racist.

And no women were ever profiled by Zimmerman. Because sexism.

Zimmerman Put out Family's Fire Brutally and Without Warning

Why does he want these innocent people to starve in the cold? Is there no limit to his cruelty?

Zimmerman Called 911 on a 'Suspicious' 7-Year Old Black Boy

What kind of depraved racist does a thing like that. Don't believe it? Well here's the original police record of his disgusting complaint:

Compl advd s43 is walking alone & is not supervised on busy street // Compl concerned for well-being

What If George Zimmerman Were Black?

Yes what would happen if a black man shot a white kid in AmeriKKKa?

Retconning Gay Marriage

Orson Scott Card and the film version of his book, "Ender's Game' are being shunned and vilified because Card doesn't support gay marriage. Card has tried to appease critics by pointing out that his writings have nothing to do with gay marriage: "Ender's Game is set more than a century in the future and has nothing to do with political issues that did not exist when the book was written in 1984.".

But the boycotts are still on and Slashfilm sniffs:

First of all, just because marriage wasn't being debated in the Supreme Court in 1984 doesn't mean the gay rights movement didn't exist back then.

Jonathon Last points out that this is a serious rewriting of history.

Of course, it isn't the case that gay marriage "wasn't being debated in the Supreme Court in 1984." Gay marriage wasn't being debated anywhere. It wasn't even being debated in the gay rights movement. The idea of same-sex marriage existing as a legal construct-let alone being a constitutionally-guaranteed right-didn't emerge until sometime in the late-'80s/early '90s

...It's not just that the Right People (Clinton, Obama) get a pass on being hatemongers, while Orson Scott Card is History's Greatest Monster. It's instructive how we're now re-writing history to suggest that the gay marriage movement has been with us forever as part of the eternal struggle for truth and justice.

Incidentally, this back-dating is helpful in further vilifying the Wrong People because it allows us to show that they aren't just morally culpable for having the wrong opinions now, but are inferior for having had the wrong opinions then, too.

So gay marriage has always been the most important social issue of the time. And always will be.

Meta Tic-Tac-Toe

Think you've got it all figured out? Well time to step up to the next level to meta tic-tac-toe.

But it took a while for the most important rule in the game to dawn on me:

You don't get to pick which of the nine boards to play on. That's determined by your opponent's previous move. Whichever square he picks, that's the board you must play in next. (And whichever square you pick will determine which board he plays on next.)

...The resulting scenarios look bizarre. Players seem to move randomly, missing easy two- and three-in-a-rows. But there's a method to the madness - they're thinking ahead to future moves, wary of setting up their opponent on prime real estate. It is, in short, vastly more interesting than regular tic-tac-toe.

German Happy Musik

I'm also a sucker for German folk music. It's so dorkily unironic and cheerful that it's hard not to start smiling and tapping along with it.

And this is what you get when you have a tragic lack of soul - and it's not bad.

50 The gay marriage thing isn't even the half of it. Some people got the idea that gays ought to be married way back in the 70s. These were people who were concerned with the unhealthy lifestyle of gay men and were hoping that marriage would end that problem. The gay lobby was...against it. Now this wasn't a big deal in the gay community because back in the 70s marriage was simply assumed. It wasn't really "optional" and then, like now, gays don't really want to be married. So if they'd have the option, then there'd be sufficient social pressure to force them to (a) be married and (b) assume the other partner would be faithful. The reason it's a big deal now is that the vast majority of gays think marriage is optional. Mostly because they've never actually met a heterosexual male. It's going to be funny watching gays start to sour on the whole idea as their casual live-in partner gets it in their head that they want to be married and maybe adopt some kids and stay at home, mom decides she's fine with her son being gay and that he should go out and get married and she knows lots of gay men for him to meet...

One amusing comment by someone in the comments section of the Enders Game link.  A poster who identifies himself as gay claims that Card's inclusion of gay and lesbian characters in later novels is merely political correctness.

Of course, what the idiot commenter apparently doesn't realize is that Card was including gay characters even in his early novels.  I think the earliest example was in Songmaster, which predates even Enders Game by several years.

123 Nice question about what would happen if a black man shot a white kid.

Well, what if two black guys slaughtered an entire white family? Well it happened on New Year's Day, 2006 here in Richmond, VA.

In the early afternoon of January 1, 2006, Kathryn, Bryan, Stella, and Ruby Harvey, a family of four, were found beaten, slashed and bound with electrical cord and tape in the basement of their burning house in the Woodland Heights district of Richmond, Virginia.

Kathryn Harvey, 39, was the co-owner of a popular local toy shop called "World of Mirth" in the Carytown district of Richmond, and the half-sister of actor Steven Culp. Bryan Harvey, 49, was an indie musician of note, a former member of House of Freaks, a two-man college rock band in Richmond. Their daughters Stella and Ruby were 9 and 4, respectively. Bryan and Kathryn died of blunt-force trauma to the head, Stella of smoke inhalation and blunt-force trauma to the head, and Ruby of stab wounds to her back, one of which punctured her lung.

Where were the cries of racism from the white community after the slaughter of this poor family?

Well..........I'm still waiting.

Not much to worry about, they don't even drop them off the big towers in Airborne School anymore.  Last serious injury I heard about was a Marine going through the school that wasn't paying close enough attention and let the ripcord get under his arm.  That caused a little bit of bruising.  And a bicep torn off and scraped/shoved down to the wrist area.

187 Ehhhh....Jordan came to Jacksonville when he was with the Birmingham Barons. The only reason he was in the minors was because he was Michael Jordan. That's not to say he didn't have any talent as a ball player. He did. But not that kind of talent.

Sports skills are different than athletic skills. I had a lot of success in high school and college as a pitcher. But I'm a shitty athlete. To be able to compete at a high level in multiple sports is truly awe inspiring.

Lauren, I will just tell you this one thing.  My mom had rheumatoid arthritis and was on Enbrel for quite a few years.  I am quite certain it contributed to the cancer that killed her, but she was 84 when she died and the Enbrel helped a lot.  Just, we don't really have a lot of cancer in our family and I think that may have . . . MAY have . . . contributed to it.  Just be careful, be your own best advocate, research the crap out of every recommendation and get second opinions wherever you can.  God bless, sweetie.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but here is the NY Daily News "correction" on the pretend racist pretend  Zimmerman supporter:

CORRECTIONAn earlier version story contained an error that said that a pro-Zimmerman protester held a sign saying, "We're racist & proud" and shouted that slogan at pro-Trayvon Martin protesters. The woman displayed the sign in front of the pro-Zimmerman group, in an apparent attempt to mock them. It is unclear whether the woman, identified by the Houston Chronicle as Renee Vaughan, was involved with either group.

Heavy cotton fatigues, all leather boots, and an M-14. How good does it get? Took a train to Ft.Dix for AIT wearing khaki's, got off in a fucking blizzard for a ride in the back of deuce-and-halfs to the base. I was there for ten weeks, and never had anything warmer than an unlined field jacket. Good time, good times.

Personally, I loved it. The black guys almost universally hated it. The only two black soldiers that I can remember who loved AK both ended up retiring there. Curiously, both were Staff Sergeants named Taylor.

326 They got the Pokemon story wrong. Only a half-dozen children with latent epileptic issues were affected. That made the news. Then suddenly hundreds of people retroactively decided they had been affected and called ambulances or showed up at ERs.

It was mass hysteria for all but a small number of those involved.

421 Funny thing with MREs, we loved 'em....... compared to the T-Rats. Chain of Command would always push the T-Rats because they were "hot" rations. Except that when it's -30 degrees in a Ft Greely winter, it only takes about 5 minutes to suck out all the heat in the food, even with the tray sitting on the hot water jug they were shipped in. But MREs could be heated up on the yukon stoves we had in the squad tents, or with the civilian camping stoves most of us carried. The best part of the T-Rats was that they'd bring out bread as well. Which we'd steal in a heartbeat, pissing off the officers. Sprinkle salt on top of the yukon stove box and toss the slices on. Yukon Toast. Yum.

Another example of the Left insisting that we judge people by their media-supplied image (supplied in service to the fascist State) and not by what people actually say or do. 584 Thing about Michelangelo is, he was quite the curmudgeon, even as a young man. Early in his career, his first true masterpiece was the Pieta sculpture for the Vatican. When it was unveiled to great acclaim, Michelangelo was introduced as "our gobbo from Milan" (he was working in Milan when the Pope hired him to do the sculpture). To a cultured man from Florence, that was an insult. So Michelangelo broke into St Peter's one night with his tools and made a modification to the sculpture, signing it "Michelangelo Buonarroti, Florentine, made this". It remains his only signed work of art. Side note: There are several versions of this story out there, all are unconfirmed, but this is the one I prefer to believe.

593 My take on the new Summer shows: WataMote - Best show of the season and one of the best this year. Tomoko is a sad example of someone who has zero social skills. The type of character you instantly feel for. Rozen Maiden - It's like Highlander but with dolls. This time set in an alternate timeline where the protagonist is communicating with his other younger self from the first timeline. Needs more です. Kin-iro Mosaic - Cute girls doing cute stuff, International edition (Japanese, English, and haafu). Fantasista Dolls - Card battle game. So-so in my opinion. good for an end-of-day vacuousness. Love Lab - Student body officers in a girls school. The characters are mostly offbeat enough for this to be interesting enough to watch. Tokurei Sochi Dantai Stella Jo-Gakuin Koutou-ka C3-bou - Girls shoot each other with pellet guns. 'Nuff said. Servant X Service - Comedy involving civil servants. Better than it sounds. Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku - Ah, the Japanese School Girls + KKK show. Not that KKK, but a "going home club" that is actually a club. A little offbeat, and mostly vacuous. Good for turning your brain off for at the end of the day. Genshiken - Next Generation - Despite the "trap," it's a decent enough show. Not as good as the original, but decent enough. Recorder to Randoseru Mi - Short bits about an older sister in High School who looks like an elementary student, and her younger brother in elementary school who looks like an adult. Hilarity (often involving the police hunting down perverts) ensues. Teekyoo - Drugs were involved in the making of this show. A mixture of drugs that should not be mixed...

596 --True. But an NCAA coach almost always has the player at the prime of his physical condition, and for five years at most. My point was that Wisconsin's coach played the odds and made bank, while NC State is still NC State. Posted by: logprof at July 24, 2013 12:17 AM (3VBXw) The coach at NC State was Tom O'brien. He had been head coach at BC and offensive coordinator at UVa. In 30 years he has put 10-12 QBs into the NFL. Matt Ryan, BC Tim and Matt Hasselback, BC Don Majkowski, UVa Matt Blundin, UVa Scott Secules, UVa Shawn Moore, UVa Aaron Brooks, UVa Russell Wilson, NCSU Glennon, NCSU NC State is NC State because of Debbie Yow. She managed to destroy Maryland's basketball and football programs before being hired to destroy NC States. She has a tendency to fire coaches after they take the team to bowls and to the NCAA tourney. She is the reason Maryland's athletic department's finances were in such disarray that they joined the Big 10 for a quick infusion of cash.

She definitely has the "magic touch", and by "magic touch" I mean turning everything to shit. Look for UVa to be pretty decent in football this year since O'Brien is back there as a "consultant".  Lauren, I have fairly severe psoriatic arthritis, and to answer your question simply, yes. I give thanks to G-d daily for modern medical science. Without medication I would not be able to walk. When first diagnosed the Soc put me on sulfasalazine and methotrexate. Since then I have progressed through most of the available drugs. In my case the drug will work fine for a few years and all of a sudden just stop working. Right now I'm doing remicade  infusion, it works very well. The thing that is really worrisome especially with O Care looming is that all but the most basic drugs are horribly expensive but they do their job very well.

645 Verse 1: Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

Verse 2: O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy word,
Who walked'st on the foaming deep,
And calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

Verse 3: Most Holy Spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its angry tumult cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

Verse 4: O Trinity of love and power!
Our brethren shield in danger's hour;

Spend too much time in Bioware's forums (which I occasionally do), and you might start thinking otherwise.  I swear that place is all but run by same sex relationship stormtroopers.  Every NPC party member has to be willing to bang a protagonist of the same sex OR ELSE!!!1!  H8t3rs!  Banging someone of the opposite sex is optional.

I drop in there every now and again to see if I can glean any plot details for whichever of their games happen to be upcoming (though my enthusiasm dimmed somewhat after the ME3 fiasco), but I tend not to stay very long since the vast majority of the active threads all start to resemble wish lists for slash fics.

682 From the original post: "Of course, it isn't the case that gay marriage "wasn't being debated in the Supreme Court in 1984." Gay marriage wasn't being debated anywhere. It wasn't even being debated in the gay rights movement. The idea of same-sex marriage existing as a legal construct-let alone being a constitutionally-guaranteed right-didn't emerge until sometime in the late-'80s/early '90s..." This is actually partially incorrect. In the '70s and '80s, the stated goal of the radical gay rights movement was to destroy ALL marriage as a concept. The only debate was over how best to achieve this. Sometime in the late '80s or early '90s a brilliant scheme was conceived, and everyone agreed to go "all in" on the plan: Marriage, it seemed from 20 years of futile assaults, cannot be destroyed from the outside, so they reasoned that it can only be destroyed from the INside -- i.e. somehow manipulate the people who are now married or who otherwise would get married into denouncing marriage itself. How to do that? To CONTAMINATE marriage in a way that makes it seem either trivial or slightly unnatural. Thus the scheme was this: To do a complete 180-degree turn and to no longer OPENLY call for the destruction of marriage, but to now instead demand that homosexuals be allowed to marry -- not because they really wanted to marry, mind you, but rather to sully the concept of marriage in the minds of traditionalists, who will respond to inclusion of homosexuals in the ultimate affirmation of heterosexuality by saying, "Well, if gays can get married too now, then let's just stop having a legal joining of two people in an official relationship, because you're just made a mockery of this tradition and we no longer want a part of it." That was the original plan. (Part of the plan was to never mention the plan publicly.) But then the '90s and the '00s slipped by, and the younger generation of gay activists were themselves never informed that the gay marriage drive was nothing more than a back-handed scheme to destroy marriage altogether; and as a result, in their ignorance, the younger generation think it is a legitimate social movement. They took it seriously. That actually suited the original (now older) activists, because it's easier to look sincere when you don't even know the insincerity of your actions. But now that they've seemingly gotten what they've wanted, the original "gay marriage" activists are still waiting for the final shoe to drop -- for uptight straights to dissolve marriage altogether rather than live in a world where the original purpose and goal of marriage is trivialized and "contaminated" in a heteronormative sense. This was all discussed openly in the early '90s. Then when a consensus was reached, the open discussion ceased. And everyone fell for it. However one can still find (as I have done) articles in radical gay-rights journals from the early '90s discussing these concepts openly. Problem is, if one doesn't live in NY or SF (as I do) where there are gay libraries and gay archives that have collections of all these otherwise obscure journals, then there's basically no way for anyone to find out the real truth.

Probably.  I've known (and know) a number of people who worked or work for Disney, and the company has an overly large number of very liberal gays working for it.  If you're conservative in any way, shape, or form, then you quickly learn to keep your head down and nod politely when one of your fellow co-workers starts talking about the latest hot-button issue.

I would imagine that it's only a matter of time before that starts influencing Pixar's product.

This is correct-o-mundo. It does kind of suck to watch the bad ass traditional values America go down the tubes before our very eyes, but I have to admit there is a certain perverse awesomeness to the soap opera noir we have going on now, where real life has become some weird combination of the Young and the Restless and the World of Darkness. The promotion of race and gay rights over morality and fiscal responsibility is just scratching the surface ... as a nation we are in a cultural free fall.

I remember seeing his byline on paperback stories for kids about Irish setters and so forth.  For years I had him mixed up with Kierkegaard the philosophy guy.

Another story in there is by Carl Henry Rathjen, who published some crime stories in the '60s as well.

The amazing thing is that there was a magazine with an emphasis on boys' interests and hobbies and worries, instead of today's over-emphasis on girls and women -- as if today's boys and men should just shut up about their interests and go to work, because Mommy needs a new wardrobe.

Oh, wait.  That is what it's like today.
