Even if you don't think racist thoughts or do racist things, Oprah is like a racial Santa Claus who knows when you've been a naughty racist.

Guessing about politicians' personal lives based on their work performance, I've always just assumed there are three or four serial killers in Congress. You don't get to $16 trillion in debt unless you have a few people involved who think it's okay to butcher people for pleasure - that just seems like common sense. And I thought we were okay with this. But looking at the public's recent reactions to these two politicians, I now get the sense that if a murdered prostitute were found in a senator's car, people would be all upset by that. And Harry Reid would probably be just as confused as Filner and Weiner are now as to why we'd then want him out of office.

California Retroactively Changes Tax Laws, Demands Back Taxes From Businesses

Small-business investors in California were promised big breaks five years ago, but now they're being told to pay up, instead after a court ruling.After following the law, many of them are getting hit with tax bills as high as $250,000.
"When we make a promise, we have to uphold it," said Sen. Ted Lieu, D-Redondo Beach.
But that is not what the state government appears to be doing. Small-business owners are getting hefty tax breaks (bills?) for tax credits they already got five years ago.
"They relied on California law as it was written, that they would get a tax break if they invested in certain kinds of businesses," Lieu said.
But a court ruled in December that practice by the state was unconstitutional. Now, the Franchise Tax Board wants its money.

One of the refs came out back and was one of the first to find him. They have an older security guy who rides his bike around trying to keep the prowlings of vehicles down around the rink. Apparently he was on the side of the building at the time it happened. Granted most of what I have heard is rink talk so you always have to question what is fact and what is truth. All I know is that I worry about my husband being at work tonight. Although Im pretty sure a 39 year old man who is 6 foot, and about 280 will have no problem fighting back. Last weekend I had to suffer through my husbands 40th class reunion. One of his classmates is a huge bigwig with Halliburton. Millions of dollars a year. His wife is a very sweet Texan who grew up dirt poor and simple. Her and I got to talking politics and she told me " I have never been a racist in my life but between Obama and Oprah's latest stunt I am starting to become one." How common do you suppose that is.....................post racial president my ass. Between him and Holder and Oprah I wouldn't doubt there more people upset with race than before he took office.

when you look at hate crime stats, it shows blacks are usually the victims, but that Hispanics are usually the perpetrators. I think hate crimes against white are not reported as that at all because they a not a minority protected class (not hyperbole there, a legal term).

I understand racism maybe a little....and please someone set me straight if need be. I grew up among a segment of the population that I watched their behaviours and lifestyle and quickly caught on that it was so wrong and a cycle that would never be broken. They didn't try and seemed to use their history as an excuse to be "downtrodden" I have a bit of a bias against this race I suppose, but then I think as a race I really don't....I have a grudge more against the way they were raised and how they allowed themselves to be brought into the cycle. Carl's used to be better, when they had more unique items -- like their extruded "fries", roast beef sandwiches, and "steak sandwiches" -- I believe that the first and last of those were withdrawn because TPTB declared them "frauds" -- they weren't real french fries, they were more like deep-fried extruded mashed potatoes; and the "steak" was "flaked and formed beef".....but at least they were different.
Now, they're more similar to the rest.

Haha I screwed that up didn't I?? It felt like about 6 yrs before I got out of the driveway. On that note I really screwed something up tonight. Not sure the marriage will survive. I booked my husband and his buddies on a flight to vegas and told them the wrong time. They showed up and couldn't get on the plane because the counter had closed. I had to rebook them on a flight out of a town 150 miles away that will get them in tomorrow morning instead of tonight.. 3 men out there that want to rip my hair out.

The Western Bacon Cheeseburger was a big deal for the chain. Up until they introduced that the menu was pretty generic. The WBC appeared not long before they started adding a lot of locations and reaching beyond LA and surrounding areas. I was surprised to learn the original Thousand Oaks location was among the first twenty-five or somewhere in the low double digits.
I had some business in Newbury Park recently on a Thursday, so I stopped by the Del Taco to get a bunch of the chicken soft tacos on the special. I mentioned to the manager that the last time I was in that place it was called Naugles. He said he might have been working the drive-through window, since he started there as a teenager and eventually ended running it. Back in the 80s, it was the one good fast food place that was open after 11 pm, unless you trekked in the Valley to go to Tommy's.

And let me add this...I grew up in a predominantly white area for most of my life. I was raised to treat everyone with respect and like them for their character, not the color of their skin. But let me say that it wasn't always easy. Some of the whites I was friends with would make ignorant statements, based off of stereotypes they had seen and/or also due to lack of exposure. We discussed it, and moved on. I have a thick skin...I don't offend easy. But I am thankful for being exposed to many people from various backgrounds at an early age. The majority of blacks don't get that. I see what Obama and crew are up to. It's not nice, good for our country and detrimental to race relations. But...he doesn't give a shit about that.

The way I see it, there's very little of the "Racism Classic" -- the stuff that came in cans emblazoned with the stars and bars, with cross-burning instructions on the label and the classic "whites, pull this tab -- blacks, pull my finger" on top. But there's "New Racism", "Diet Racism" "Vanilla Racism", "Caffeine-free Racism" and -- of course -- "Racism Zero", the newest one that Preznit Zero's peddling. Thing is, they're all trying to extend a brand that's essentially collapsed. The great majority of Americans have never seen a segregated drinking fountain in real life. Wife's parents were teenagers in the 50s and 60s. Her Dad was from segregated Mississippi, mom from South Central Los Angeles. Despite all the shit both went through, they raised her with discipline, dignity, and to be as colorblind as possible. Even with his dementia her father's still a genius. They didn't expect their daughter to "marry out" as some very distant relatives saw it, but they love me to pieces. I just wish I had met her a little bit earlier, her Dad was already going through the very early stages of Alzheimer's when we started dating. It would have been great to talk with him before that horroible disease started eating away at his brain.

I prefer Chipotle and a local area chain Hot Head Burritos to taco bell. Hot Head is pretty much a Chipotle knockoff but they have a bunch of options on sauces you can add to them. But still sometimes I want some cheap crappy sorta mexican food, and that's what taco bell is for. Especially at 4 am.

Then you see an incident like the one reported at The Blaze today, about a new nurse shot down there for the apparent crime of being white, and nod your head sagely.

So there are actually eight different possibilities WRT folks, wife, you: WWW, WWB, WBW, WBB, BWW, BWB, BBW, BBB -- of which, your narrative excluded only WWW and BBB with "marry out" in quotations.
If I'd had to guess, I would have said that BBW was slightly more likely than the rest (which is apparently the case), but it goes to show how badly blown "Classic Racism" is when I can't be sure -- and you tell parts of the story three times without making it any more clear.

Doctors are required to ask about weapons in the home. And in general, they always have had the power to recommend involuntary commit for observation. (the amount of time varies between states)
They now provide your answers to those questions to the Federal Government and that information is also available to other agencies besides HHS.
You can no longer tell your doctor certain facts without possibly exposing yourself to confiscation of your guns, your kids, even your motor vehicle. And all in the name of "helping" you.
Obamacare and the electronic records requirements means you no longer have confidentiality with whatever you say to your doctor.
Be aware also that your child may be asked questions about you, your family, what you have in the home and what you do in the privacy of your home at school and act on that information if they so choose. They may also examine your child without your permission or knowledge and may also administer drugs and therapy without your knowledge or permission.
You also may not refuse to do something you believe is against your religion without being subject to governmental sanctions.

Everything is done on a cash or barter basis.
Medical tourism is fine for surgery but for outpatient stuff you don't want to travel too far. I wouldn't be surprised if something like this existed already but I expect a lot more people are going to find themselves going this route.

Also medicine has had a long term problem with it's business model. This has been exacerbated by Medicare, Medicaid and so called "Medical Insurance".
Medicine's fundamental business model problems with care access and delivery began before the government interfered. An argument could be made that government entered into the equation because of those problems with how care was delivered and who had access.
A middle way needs to be found so that those financially unable to access care can access care to save their life while providing further and more expensive care to those who can afford to pay for more/better care.
Balancing the incentives and making it rewarding (both financially and spiritually) for the care givers and yet allowing the most access for the most people regardless of their current ability to pay is where it gets sticky.
My guess is that it will wind up being who has gets and those who don't have die or suffer. Unless assisted by a donor. But it can't be the Government.
Since that was/is the default state of man's existence.

My parent's marriage was not the most ringing endorsement for the matrimonial state. My father was a pathological control freak and prone to violent outbursts. (One of which I had to testify about in divorce court.) My now husband patiently endured a long, long time before my eyes were finally opened to how right it was for me to marry him.
And a part of my ability to go that route was knowing he loved me more than I loved him, and that the circumstance gave me control.
Not to dominate him, not to manipulate him. It is true satisfaction for us to hammer out a compromise and accommodate. It is a pleasure to please him. I hate playing games; in addition to the moral issues, they just strike as being so pointlessly exhausting.

I have read that some sufferers of Lyme disease go back on a self prescribed course of antibiotics in defiance of the doctors opinions.
For some, this has proved efficacious and relieved their symptoms.
Of course long term antibiotic use has it's own problems. And cost.
That's why it's called the "Practice of Medicine" and not the Science of Medicine. (although they try to make it out to be all science. And some of it is. And some of it isn't.)

Merovign, I tested PATA drives today and found I have seven working units. Three are a bit dinky at 6, 10, and 20 GB. One is an 80 GB, and the rest 120 GB. I need to back up one that was in my sister's previous PC because it may be the only copies of some stuff. But I can certainly get all of them in a flat rate Priority Mail box.

I've been bicycling almost every day and I'm trying to cut back on the sugary drinks, mainly fruit juice and iced tea. Ralphs was having a promotion on several brands of 'fitness' drinks, which is to say flavored water. I'm hoping it'll be easier than going cold turkey. I tried the Propel Mandarin Orange today and it was surprisingly good for something that had zero calories and no artificial sweeteners.
