— Pixy Misa Well, 'Rons & 'Ettes, it looks like you drew the short straw again tonight, due to a bit of scheduling confusion. But, again, try not to get too bent out of shape about it. Your regular correspondent will be assuming his role in very short order. 'Til then, you have the pale substitute that is the Damn Dirty RINO to bridge the gap.
Last night found me in a bit of an introspective mood the had me waxing philosophical on the under-appreciated merits of failure. Tonight, however, finds me in a different frame of mind -- one with a yen to ponder the way in which we relate to our fellow human beings, be they friends, colleagues, lovers, wives, or sworn enemies. Sure, it would be nice if life only presented us with puppies, butterflies and dear old friends with which to contend on a daily basis. But, the bare fact of the matter is that we have to share this big blue ball with all manner of unsavory creatures like spiders and snakes and sharks and dingos.
And, when you think about it, nobody has to confront such menacing fauna to a greater degree than Australians. Yet, somehow, they seem to remain a distinctly agreeable people in spite of it all. Having spent a good number of hours watching nature shows on basic cable, I'm well aware of the fact that the average suburban Aussie encounters at least one funnel web spider, a tiger snake, two salt water crocodiles and several species of shark on his way to work every day. And they do it all with a sunny disposition.
So, why is it that we Americans sometimes seem so given to churlishness and spite when dealing with relatively minor nettles, like personality clashes with coworkers?
Maybe it's just a product of the striving, competitive culture of America that tells us to constantly be on the lookout for someone trying to gain and advantage over us in our careers. While the current political class seems intent on beating that out of us by whatever means deemed necessary, it's going to take a lot more than eight years of a collectivist administration to pull it off. And it certainly seems that trait is exaggerated in the cutthroat world of corporate broadcasting.
But, while competitiveness is an admirable quality on the whole, there's also a great deal to be said for teamwork. And there's nothing about the broadcasting world that makes it inherently impossible for people to work together as a cohesive unit.
Look, I understand what it's like to work in a bureaucratic, dog-eat-dog environment. I've done time in a lot of different industries at varying levels of responsibility -- some of which I was obviously better suited to than others. And I've worked alongside just about every imaginable species of douchebag, harridan, brown-noser, and backstabber you care to list. But, over the years, I've learned that the way you choose to interact with a person in the crucial moments upon first having met them can have a profound effect on your future and that of everyone one around you in any given environment.
And, obviously, that doesn't just apply to coworkers and colleagues. In fact, it's even more important to keep it in mind when dealing with those who live and work in less prestigious circles. I mean, you never know what a waitress or a delivery driver is going through in his or her life outside of work. And, obviously, you also can't know exactly what they're doing at every moment while they're at work, either.
Now, that's not to say that complete incompetence or a poor attitude ought to be overlooked or tolerated just because the person works in an unglamorous or unrewarding position. The truth is, failing to make it clear that a certain level of service is expected in exchange for your cheerful demeanor and/or gratuity actually ends up hurting not just other customers or clients who come after you, but the person who holds that unsuitable position as well.
But it's important that you communicate your dissatisfaction as clearly and effectively as possible. In the end, the way in which you choose to express yourself will determine what message that person takes away from your interaction.
As human beings, we're more sensitive to subtle emotional cues than our animal counterparts. So our choice of words is often as important as our tone of voice in dictating what kind of response we get when we communicate. And our emotional responses have an immeasurable effect on our general well-being. That's why bedside manner plays such a crucial role in a doctor's ability to treat a patient's illness.
And, just as it's important to be mindful of what we say and how we say it to people we work and deal with on a daily basis, we should be extra vigilant in how we communicate to the people who mean the most to us in our personal lives. So, while it would be nearly impossible to make it all the way through life without hurting the ones we love the most with our words and demeanor, we would all do well to keep in mind that the mere sound of our voices can mean the whole world to those we care about the most deeply.
The human soul senses beauty in the sound of the human voice, and the written and spoken word just as exquisitely as it does in the shapes and colors and the lights and shadows before our eyes. More than anything else, we find beauty in each other. And, personally, I find beauty in gingers -- particularly the one in the latest Netflix ad.

There is a perimeter road, a pier, two buildings, lots of trees, and a lake. Seems there is aquaculture happening around the island which happens to be a small island off another larger island. There are 2 3,000ft paved runways within 50 miles and one airport with jet service and Chilean F-16s about 130 miles away. About 200 miles to the east is a snow capped volcano. Do not plan to swim in the Pacific Ocean unless you truly like water temps in the 604F range, the Humbolt that comes off Antarctica sweeps right by on the western side of the larger island.

DINGO: Oh, wicked, bad, naughty, evil Zoot! Oh, she is a naughty
person, and she must pay the penalty -- and here in Castle Anthrax, we
have but one punishment for setting alight the grail-shaped beacon. You must tie her down on a bed and spank her!
GIRLS: A spanking! A spanking!
DINGO: You must spank her well. And after you have spanked her, you
may deal with her as you like. And then, spank me.
VARIOUS GIRLS: And spank me.
And me.
And me.
DINGO: Yes, yes, you must give us all a good spanking!

The Yankees are still having that problem at Hilton Head. A few of the born and bred just don't seem to want to give up and move the hell away. Much better success has been had at Daufuskie though.

We were staying on Daufuskie at the now-defunct Melrose Inn a few years ago, and we saw our first "Code Pink" signs ever all over the island. We had no idea what they were. How weird, since most of the island is shacks, trailers and modest cottages.

After the three-game sweep of the Nationals by the GODDAMNED MOTHERFUCKING CHRISTHUMPING WORTHLESS PIECE OF SHIT ATLANTA BRAVES I have come to the calm, reasoned conclusion that all life is travesty and the only mistake we make in this mockery of existence that some laughingly refer to as "life" is believing in the possibility that good things might ever happen to worthless sinners such as us.
Also, let's talk about the great, hugely underrated Canterbury late '60s/early '70s art-rock group Soft Machine. Because they were pretty fucking awesome, and it will help to ease the pain.

Yes! This is an excellent and fully credited response that I agree with pretty much 100%. The Third album -- which most people cite as their masterpiece -- really only stands out for "Moon In June" (which is far better in its earlier BBC version, as seen here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4JrPnep5Aw). Basically, when Robert Wyatt stopped singing altogether, I lost interest.
But they made a LOT of great music from 1967-1970, much of it done live or at the BBC, or only subsequently released on archival compilations...hugely underrated.
I completely agree with your preference for the first album as well. "We Did It Again" > "Why Are We Sleeping?" is pretty much one of the finest moments in the entire history of art-rock.

Only from the outside.
When some place with "modern" "airtight" "energy efficient" construction techniques is sealed up and has no A/C or heat running for several years in anything other than a very dry desert climate, they become like tropical rain forests inside and black mold starts growing like crazy covering every inch of anything it'll grow in. Dry wall, wood, carpets, etc.
I have a friend who's doing mold remediation for banks up in NY (who fucked up with the 1st wave of evictions/foreclosures just as the shit was starting and actually evicted people rather than letting them just linger like they do now).
They come back 3-4 years later thinking they got someone wants to buy it and they're finding the remediation of black mold is often within a few grand of just bulldozing the joint and starting over.
Replace carpets, replace all drywall, replace most heating/ac ducting, guys doing that work in space suits, etc costs big cash and those guys are in very high demand right now.
The older places that were built before building codes got crazy with the air-tightness and insulation shit are usually fine. A "new" house NEEDS someone living it it running its systems or it goes to shit real quick

One of my houses was a HUD house. They (I assume trying to save money) shut the electricity off. The house was prone to basement flooding during storms so it had a tile and sump system. I got it for a song in the 80s and the damage was limited to the unfinished part of the house. But it is really hard to sell a house that smells like mold/rot. HUD would have got way more money than they saved if they kept the electricity hooked up.

I had no idea what I was gonna see when that cover came off because I'm sometimes kinda lax on the oil changes and often push it beyond 15k miles and this engine is up over 80k now.
Damn if that shit wasn't squeeky clean. I mean like absolutely zero crud, shiny new metal surfaces on the cam/lifters/head -- like it just rolled out of Wolfsburg yesterday, without even a hint of cam or lifter wear.
I can only attribute this "like new" condition to one thing -- synthetic oil, and good filters. I put synthetic in it starting at about 5k when it was my mom's car, and always used a good Fram or genuine VW filter.
I also changed the oil after maybe 200-300mi when it was new. I always do that with any new engine...cuz that first batch of factory oil is going to be LOADED with microscopic metal particles as wearing surfaces are trying to get happy with each other. The shit always comes out looking like metallic paint there's so much floating microscopic metal it it.
If you're real paranoid, another change at 1k wouldn't hurt before going on a normal schedule.

Good to hear, and it sounds like it went smoothly.
My current car has over 160k miles, and I don't do anything special to it but change the oil every 5k using regular motor oil. It doesn't blow smoke, and does use a quart about every 3k; the same amount it used when I got it at 80k.
Really, that's all you need to do. Just change the oil religiously. And don't beat on it too much.

FWIW the new C-7 Corvette tells you how many RPM have been turned, thus a lot of time spent at high RPM (i.e., weekends at the track) will be evident. Installing an hours meter would be a fairly trivial thing, but how would you tell city miles from highway miles?

In that super hot turbo bearing environment, the dead dino oils tend to start changing their molecular structure and depolymerize to shorter less slippery hydrocarbon chains, as well as oxidizing into sludge/crud. You wind up with a nasty brew of thick shit that doesn't actually lubricate very well.
The synthetics aren't even oil in the sense most people understand it. The most common ones are PAG's (Polyalkylene Glycol) and more resemble anti-freeze chemically than dead dino oil.
There IS a downside to synthetics -- they're extremely hygroscopic -- i.e. they suck up and absorb water like crazy. In most autos it won't be an issue if the engine is run often enough to boil the absorbed water out of the oil. In sealed commercial systems (like A/C units) the hygroscopic-ness isn't an issue.
If you were going to store a car for some years without occasionally running it, putting in some dead dino oil for the storage prep would be better.

About 15 years ago, the BH and I did a SCUBA diving trip to Fiji. Our first stop was Kadavu, then we went to Taveuni.
The hotel we stayed at in Taveuni was actually a failed Travelodge that had been picked up by a private party. It had a few non-Travelodge touches, like the geckos that would roam the walls and ceilings. Since they ate bugs, were totally harmless, and made little trouble, we didn't mind -- and there is nothing quite so funny as turning on the lights to your room and having startled geckos lose their grip on the ceiling....you'd hear this "thump, thump, thump" and maybe an occasional "scurry" if one landed on a piece of furniture instead of the carpeted floor. After the "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom"-level of bugs we'd seen on Kadavu, we were in a forgiving mood.
Anyway, a couple of days after we arrived, a good-sized party of Australian travel agents showed up on a promotional junket -- after all, how are they going to convince clients that they'll have a rollicking good time if they haven't gone themselves and had a rollicking good time? And, of course, they showed up the next morning on the dive boat.
Nice folks, a bit boisterous.....but there were some changes to the dynamic of the dives. I think it was the first day out with these guys -- and one guy had lowered some monstrous 3'x3' underwater camera rig into the water and was tooling around with it....and we got to see a sea snake! For the record, they are really cool! -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sm0G0wmtilc -- you don't have to be subtle about coloration when you're more poisonous than most cobras.....neurotoxin, too -- you might not even make it to the surface before your heart stops.
Now, the rule in the water is generally "you don't mess with it, it don't mess with you" -- and, more to the point, being the aggressor is a great way to buy a slapdown. So when everyone else saw the snake, we swam over to take a look but didn't crowd it -- and tried to make it feel "at home" while we checked it out.
By contrast, the Aussies went and got the guy with the humungous camera, went in with the camera for close-ups, and when the snake darted away to hide in the coral, started trying to tug it out by its tail.
At this point, we figured a reasonably safe distance was maybe 25 feet away, 'cause the odds were that extremely annoyed snake might come rocketing out of the scrum and just chomp the first human it encountered afterward on general principles. And that really did change the dynamic of later dives.

It's mostly leakage from a main seal and it's not worth the trouble to go in to replace the seals. And believe you me, I've had cars that did a LOT worse. I don't mind buying older cars with a few hiccups and running them until they puke. It keeps the cost per mile low (if you can work on them yourself).

The methanol in your tank is a bigger problem with engines that don't get regular use. All us northerners remember the HEET additive. It was methanol to suck up the water in the winter to prevent freeze in the lines. Any kinda used engine has different maintenance issues now with the methanol in most gas.
Oh and yes it will but it depends on what the sulfur is bound too since many sulfur compounds are great lubricants. So if the compound is tight no worries loose not so much.
Posted by: The Hickster at August 07, 2013 08:41 PM (RvMXe)
Glycol'ish things don't have sulpher atoms unless its something specifically added, and alkene'ish things don't either. So a poly (many) alkene glycol shouldn't have sulpher unless it was explicitly added for some reason.

The thing is, your typical drunk can't tell -- and probably wouldn't care if he could. So, they just go on being typical drunks, treating the waitresses like obedience dogs. And that has a way of reinforcing the tough time that the waitresses are trying to work through without showing it. So, there's a self-reinforcing nature to it, and it can really wear down the psyche.
So, when I go out to a place like that, I always operate from the assumption that the person waiting on me might very well be going to school and trying to take care of a sick child on her own.
Yes, we're all fighting great battles -- and very often on more than one front at the same time.
Posted by: DamnDirtyRINO at August 07, 2013 08:48 PM (m0h0I)
"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle." I try to keep that in mind when dealing with difficult people - I never know what struggles or demons they are dealing with. (Which is not to say that jerks should be given a pass - sometimes you need to point out their jerk behavior - but try to do so in a way that encourages the jerkto change for the better.)"

I would always be "disappointed" with people, without using the word until it was time to use the 'title'. The best bosses I ever had relied on me because I would work my ass off. THEY would let me know when it was time to relax. If I dragged-ass when things needed to be done, they were "disappointed" and I felt it.
I took that with me and had reasonable success in my own business. Employees would let me down from time-to-time, but I never fired them harshly, and without giving them a bottom-line reason.
I respected their foibles, but chided their negatives when it came to the company. If I called anyone, right now, that I ever fired from my place, they would greet me with a big "Hello!".
They knew why they were fired and they knew they could/could not get a reference from me. Argumentative folks, customers and employees always "got their say". If I reasoned with them, they were reasonable 98% of the time. If they wanted to get emotional, I would tell them that I was sorry that I might be wrong, but I thought I was doing the right thing. Reasoned. No emotional outbursts.
I save that shit for third-party observers/friends who can then tell me how fucked up I was; or how "it had to be done."
With family, it is harder. It is easy to revert back to being a scared and angry ten-year-old. I find that saying nothing and nodding within the family, (lest it be a health-issue; mental or otherwise), is the best course of action.
I'd rather be relied upon than be "right".

The BH and I did our dive training with Hank Ketels, a guy whose NAUI instructor number was something like 42....and the group of instructors and aides were quite diverse -- about half sound like what you're talking about, while the other half had a bunch of science-y types, some sportin' types, and a grab-bag of weirdos (like one who had sold his company a decade before and was just going to SCUBA the rest of his life).
You may recall that the BH is a big girl -- over 6', so we ended up getting her a custom wetsuit. Well, when you dive Monterey Bay, it doesn't take you long to go from "goddamned wetsuit flailing around cooking me from the inside....." to "Neoprene Is My Friend".....so she got a thick, custom, tall, curvy wetsuit.....which meant that she had to tote 42 pounds of lead to neutralize her buoyancy with it. Mind you, when you're on the surface......that's 42 pounds of lead.
So we went through the class and finally got to the final checkout dive....and things went poorly for her....and it was a couple of the gung-ho types that escalated that into her not passing (she did pass a couple of months later on round 2).
I'm going to go a little technical here.....a wetsuit keeps you warm by being insulating foam. When you measure its thickness at the surface, it has a volume 1 at sea level -- about 15 psi. If you went up to the top of Mount Everest, the air pressure is only about 5 psi, and the thickness of your wetsuit would just about triple -- which would serve you right, if you were crazy enough to wear a wetsuit on Everest. By contrast, every 33 feet you dive in salt water, you get another atmosphere's worth of pressure, so your foam at 33 fsw is 1/2, and at 66 it's 1/3 as thick as it was on the surface.
Now if you wrap yourself in foam, you understandably will bob like a cork because the foam displaces water and doesn't weigh very much -- so the accepted practice is to wear a weightbelt packed with lead to counteract the buoyancy. This wraps around your foamy bod.
Problem arises when you hit 33 feet -- the foam will have shrunk by 1/2, while the belt is still the same size. As you might imagine, this give the belt ample opportunity to start shifting around and getting into trouble -- which is what happened on the BH's checkout dive, especially as she had a lot of wetsuit/foam. So she was in some distress -- and rule #6 of SCUBA is: "Any distress is best dealt with on the surface." She took one of the gung-ho divemasters with her to the surface and started to try and repack herself. The divemaster said, "hand me your belt while you're flailing." So she did.....
Whereupon she popped out of the water by another five inches, the guy's eyes got large, and he disappeared from view. The divemasters, being extremely trim and cold-hardy, wore much thinner wetsuits and were used to weightbelts in the 16-25 pound range. He reacted in much the same way as someone treading water would if handed an anvil. To his credit, he managed to fight his way to the surface for a gasping breath and held himself there for a few seconds before ditching the belt.
After the rest of the class had completed their tasks, all the divemasters went out and did a search until they recovered the BH's belt, but it's hard to say someone successfully completed a checkout dive when they spent half of it on the beach. Kudos to the BH, though -- she stuck with it and nailed it down.

Thing is, the Horde is comprised of people -- as is the Management and cob-loggers. And sometimes, a little cooling-off is a good thing. I've seen many beloved Horde members go -- and I've seen new ones come aboard -- and I've seen many of the departed return. I even know a few IRL
Unlike many other blogs, Ace doesn't [usually: b*l*a*z*e*r] permanently consign someone to be a nonperson, flushed down the memory hole. The place really is more than the sum of its parts -- you can even be on moderately hostile terms with the PROPRIETOR, who PAYS THE BILLS to keep the site on-air....and still be popular and appreciated -- so long as you don't get in his grill about it. It's a community. You can give Ace a total ration of shit about his movie reviews and nobody even blinks.....which, I'm sure, is somewhat due to the exhaustion inevitably felt by anyone reading an Ace movie review.....
Treacher, in a drunken moment, shit all over this blog and got himself banned a while ago....he'd probably be unbanned in a heartbeat if he asked. I keep hoping for arhooley to come back. You don't even have to undergo a Soviet-era show trial and confess your guilt -- you just have to concede that it wasn't the time to be doin' it.
And Jake and TR weren't even "hard banned" (SFAIK). They stumbled into an odd scene in this space and tried to apply some monkey wrenches to it -- things that might've worked well at other times.
Breitbart (PBUH) thought the Horde had the best comments in the blogosphere. I happen to think he was right. And it's tough to see good commenters go.

IIRC, he was hard-banned, but could still be quoted and discussed -- and reinstated, should he ever request such.....and I'd like to see that.
I also read his stuff at the Daily Caller. He's a good guy, intelligent, clued-in, and writes well......and got fuckamundo'd by some some dipshit clandestine government-entitled speed-racer that left him with horrible, permanent damage that makes me wince to think about -- which has left him very bitter.
But, here's the thing -- I love and respect and sympathize with the 'Jim Treacher' of the preceding paragraph....but some morons mentioned him in an offhand way on this blog and he proceeded to spill bile and vitriol all over *them* for the very-real injuries he had suffered from nameless government wanks.....which is Not Cool. Would make for a compelling "dark night of the soul" movie, perhaps -- but morons and moronettes are not actors.
And, having been there, Treacher amply deserved his bannination at the time. By the time it happened, it was a mercy. I don't believe that those banned with him deserved their fate, but can understand it in the interest of efficiency: "cleanup on aisle 556".
Again, though -- this blog has the most Catholic, "repent, and return to grace" policy that I know of in the blogosphere.

That sad, I'm glad I at least gave you something to think about. Having dug myself into a fair number of holes over the years, I know it ain't easy to muster the desire or the will to climb out of them. For me, it came down to realizing that there are some situations in which the question of who was right and who was wrong is the least important consideration. After that, things got a lot easier.
I wish you the best and hope you find a way to come to proper terms with your situation soon.

I believe there are a couple who have been banned under previous names and have come back using other names. And unless they are a true troll like palin steele, it tends to be no big deal because they've stopped engaging in the asshole behavior that got them banned the first time.

Eh, my opinion is that blue on blue is mostly wasted energy. During the height of the Paterno scandal I would have gladly gutted Russ from Winterset like a fish, along with other commenters who suggested that the barbed cock of Satan might be more to my liking since I was defending him by decrying a rush to judgment--and I believe his widow has a pending lawsuit against Louis Freih (sp?) to that effect. I don't think I'll ever volunteer to buy Russ a drink, but I've forgotten who else was involved and moved on.*
*FTR, I was once accused of an inappropriate exam on a patient by a nurse--not because she felt that I molested the child, but she was uncomfortable with what I was doing. It was quickly resolved in my favor, but it has given me a certain skepticism towards instant judgment on such matters.

The area where we were working was one of the few remaining structures that hasn't been demolished. A hangar that was previously use for the US version of Top Gear. The logo was still on the doors Monday but had been painted over by the time I got there Tuesday morning and thought to get a picture.
The main hangar space is fine. They brought in a bunch of car tuning equipment and some furniture to lounge about on. But the office areas off to the sides were horrific. Various windows have been left open or broken, along with all of the roof access hatches. This meant a large population of pigeon had taken to nesting there and producing prodigious piles of guano. Mixed with that is dust so thick it can best be called regolith. Like on the Moon.
We had to go in there to get to the roof to set up a Clear WiMax modem with an external antenna made by a guy in Hawaii. This, when it eventually worked, got a 5 down, 1 up signal that we could feed into a number of Ruckus WiFi APs to provide coverage within the hangar and the surrounding area during setup. During the main event there will be a 150 Mb microwave link that we'll distribute to where the main events will happen.
Naturally, since it was highly desirable to do this as quickly as possible, nothing worked the first time or at all in the chosen location, and it became a two day task. The building itself was blocking the signa, so we had to go to the other side to position the modem but our other gear needed to stay where it was because the APs were already placed and working. So we went to the other upstairs side of the hangar and it was actually worse. The gagging got to me at one point and I had to step into an office to throw up.
Not a big problem as the entire building is due to be demolished in a few months and nobody is likely to notice that I added part of my lunch to the miasma of pigion shit and dirt. The new placement for the modem worked, so we positioned Ubiquiti point-to-point radios at windows in the corridor overlooking the main hangar space. These same type of radios will be used for bringing the microwave relay bandwidth to the main event areas and to either Ruckus or Xirrus WiFi gear to reach the attendees.
It would have been a fairly ordinary job for us, if not for the post-apocalyptic condition of the upstairs.

Oh this movie is not political they claim. Its not political to them because this is how they think the world is, this is their version of Truth. So yes there is Elysium where a few can live in perfect comfort and perfect health who jealously guard such. And then there is the rest of the world that suffers.
Then there is this picture of Damon I am looking at. It is the District 9 augmented Matt Damon. He is looking desperate and is clutching this BFG that has in big crisp white letters CHEMRAIL on the side. Really?

Classes begin Thursday in the Francis Howell district. Nearly 2,600 students from the unaccredited Normandy and Riverview Gardens districts in St. Louis County are leaving for better-performing schools in Howell and other districts after a recent Missouri Supreme Court ruling upheld such moves.
"The apprehension is still there," Gratta said. "A lot of the parents feel their children's education will somehow be lessened."
The wave of upcoming student transfers is opening old wounds and reviving difficult public conversations about race, class, income inequality and other thorny social problems that many thought - or at least hoped - has been set aside decades ago. Students at the two troubled district are predominantly black, with the schools and communities they're headed to largely white.

In a related note, I ran into a movie called Detachment on Netflix. It's a tale abut an inner city school system and is quite well done. It's not my usual fare, but it wound up in my queue somehow and didn't disappoint. There are some biggish names in the flick (James Caan, Lucy Liu) but they are minor players.
Sorta depressing, but sorta uplifting as well.

James Cameron has the rights to make a live action version of a manga and anime called Battle Angel Alita. Floating above a junkyard Earth is an island city where the elites live in perfect health and serenity. It is a capital offense to try and reach the city. The city dumps its garbage on the junkyard below. There is a boy Hugo who wants to reach the city, his older brother tried in a hot air balloon and was broken up into organs.
Here is the 55 minute anime OVA from 1993 dubbed into English. There is brief nudity, yeah she has a better body than Jody Foster. Violence. Explosions. Martial arts. And more violence and explosions.

Fuck 'em. It's your money. You don't owe them a damn thing.
You know the really stupid part is there is a long known thing in theater/film called 'suspension of disbelief.' You have to be willing to not notice it is fake to enjoy the production. So, when those assholes spend all his free time saying truly stupid shit, they destroy their own craft cuz they make it impossible to suspend disbelief about their character -- all you can think is "there goes that asshole again" -- rather than believing in their role.
