Patriots' Aaron Hernandez Arrested for Murder
— Ace

He may or may not have pulled the triggers; he had a little team to pull off this stupid little murder.

The murdered man was named Odin (!) Lloyd-- apparently guilty of "talking to the wrong people," whatever that means. I do think it just means "talking" -- that he was socializing with people Hernandez didn't like.

So he and two confederates killed him.

Surveillance footage from Hernandez's home showed him leaving with a gun, and he told someone in the house that he was upset and couldn't trust anyone anymore, the prosecutor said.

The three men picked up Lloyd at his home around 2:30 a.m., according to authorities. As they drove around in their rented car, they discussed what happened at the nightclub, and Lloyd started getting nervous, McCauley said.

Lloyd texted his sister, "Did you see who I am with?" When she asked who, he answered, at 3:22 a.m., "NFL," then, a minute later, he sent one final text: "Just so you know."

Within a few minutes, people working the overnight shift at the industrial park reported hearing gunshots, McCauley said. Surveillance video showed the car going into a remote area of the industrial park and emerging four minutes later, the prosecutor said.

A short time later, Hernandez returned to his house, and he and one of the other men were seen on his home surveillance system holding guns, McCauley said. Then the system stopped recording, according to the prosecutor.

This guy's got his priorities straight:

To review:

Aaron Hernandez, Biggest Loser.

Tim Tebow, Big Winner.

Also a Big Loser: Odin Lloyd, the guy Hernandez killed.

I shouldn't make a big deal but it is strange the guy analyzes the Hernandez Situation chiefly from the perspective of lineup changes on the Patriots.

128 97 Unfortunately, the arrest of Hernandez leaves the polarizing Tim Tebow as a tight end replacement. He could come in for gimmick plays, but that's about it. BTW, I think it's worth pointing out that Rae Carruth's child was about 6-7 months along when he was delivered to save his life. I heard that now he has learning disorders because of being a preemie so suddenly. Poor child, I think it would be best not to tell him who his father is for as long as possible (if he does not know already).

The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one -- big hitter, the Lama -- long, into a ten-thousand foot crevice, right at the base of this glacier. And do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga...gunga -- gunga galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." It's a go-to joke in these situations. Over the past few days I've probably read hundreds of people on every message board, blog, and newspaper site I frequent make comments like "Hernandez may have been a tight end but he'll soon be a wide receiver" and other references to prison rape. Variations on that joke and OJ Simpson and Ray Lewis references pretty much comprises about 85% of the online comments about the Hernandez situation. Anyway, Rubio's job IS to do it in public, and he didn't/doesn't without sounding canned. Just makes me think it isn't from the heart. Have you ever heard a liberal speak about liberal topics without sounding fired up/passionate/honest in his beliefs? Isn't that what Clinton and Obama have done so well, emote? 384 I do have to say that Hernandez is arguably the most inept murderer I have ever seen. I have no idea how he thought he would get away with it. The only thing he apparently did "well" in covering up the crime was that he hid the murder weapon pretty well as the police haven't found that yet despite searching a pond and woods near his place.

BTW, this is an unimportant observation but I thought of the fact that when Hernandez was cuffed today and taken from his house by the police that he will probably never set foot inside his $1 million-plus house again for the rest of his life. His only hope was that he would be out on parole before the trial but that was rightfully denied by the judge, and based on the evidence, it is doubtful this guy will ever see the outside of a prison ever again. And he has to know this. Can you imagine what is going through this douche's mind tonight as he sits in his prison cell?

425 Apartheid was really horrible

If there existed a better way of protecting the Boers' very lives, the current system in South Africa isn't carrying it out.

And if the system were all *that* oppressive for blacks in South Africa, then South Africa would have been worried about too many blacks leaving (as Dixie worried about escaped slaves). Instead apartheid-era South Africa had to keep blacks from migrating *in*.

Blacks are oppressed all over Africa. In apartheid South Africa, it seems blacks were oppressed least. But it was whites doing the oppressing, and that hurt the Africans' pride.

Ho checkin is a process where the fresh meat is worn down through successive fights with a number of inmates. These fights can and do last through out the night. Every time the cell door is opened a new fighter comes in and it starts all over. You will be beat down eventually. That's why even the biggest baddest dude can become a ho in 1 night.

Going to prison is arguably my biggest personal fear (other than dying, of course). I think of the scenario that you described and the depictions of prison life in popular culture and I think I'd rather be dead than be in a maximum-security prison. So unless I was framed for a crime, I never was going to put myself in a position to serve time. (I'm just glad they haven't started imprisoning people for speeding tickets otherwise I would have been screwed.) Plus, as an average-sized guy, I would be at a significant disadvantage in prison.

For the life of me, I can't figure out how a guy like Hernandez doesn't think of the repercussions before committing a crime like murder. Plus, he had a lot more to lose than most of us (i.e., $40 million and life as a celebrity). It's astounding to me. What a complete jackass.

I agree 100%.

I'm a Patriots fans, having lived in New England most of my life, but I would criticize the franchise if they handled this situation incorrectly. They didn't as they had to balance their financial and moral obligations. Financially, they actually made things more difficult for the franchise, on the field and off the field, by releasing him before he was unable to perform (i.e., going to training camp in July/August and playing games this fall).

As far as drafting Hernandez, the Patriots didn't draft him until the Fourth Round due to his questionable background and I think they thought they could keep him on the straight and narrow, as they had with other players with questionable backgrounds over the past 10-12 years. It apparently worked with Hernandez for three years or so but it all fell apart this year, as this murder is one of several off-the-field incidents involving Hernandez in 2013.

Regardless, I would hate to be involved in personnel decisions in the NFL. More than probably any other major sport (though the NBA is probably pretty close), every team has players of questionable character on their roster. The vast majority aren't involved in murder, like Hernandez, but it's extremely difficult in such a balanced league to field a competitive team without taking a chance and drafting certain players with questionable backgrounds.
