Paul Rudd Brought a Clip
— Ace

Paul Rudd is a frequent guest on Conan O'Brien. He comes on every time he has a movie to promote. Every time he has a movie to promote, he says he's brought a clip from the new film.

But he didn't. He brought the same clip he always brings, a scene from a low-budget E.T. rip-off, 1988's Mac and Me, that he had nothing at all to do with.

He has literally done this on every appearance, except for one, when Judd Apatow physically accompanied him to the show to guarantee he would show a real clip from Knocked Up and not a clip from this bargain-bin children's movie.

But unless you physically escort him into the director's booth and check the video he's giving Conan, he's going show this clip, every time.

Thanks to @benk84.

118 Paul Rudd was pretty funny in "I Love You, Man". He and Joel Siegelman make a good comedy team. And "We're The Miller's" is moderately funny and vulgarly obnoxious if you like drug humor, etc. It's a parable about our modern dysfunctional society. Jennifer Anniston was moderately likable in "Bruce Almighty", but I don't really get her popularity. I just don't find her that attractive, or talented, or anything, really.

208 Paul Rudd has a film screening at Sundance. I go to the fest every year (hush, don't judge me) so I could see it, but it also stars Amy Poehler, who I'm not a fan of. Also it sounds like a rehashing of You've Got Mail with Rudd in the Tom Hanks part, not sure I need to see that. There's gonna be a doc on Mitt Romney, prop 8, fracking, the hazards the North Dakota oil boon hath brought, and the usual white and straight ppl be crazy. Also a film with Kristen Stewart as a soldier at Guantanamo who strikes up a friendship with an inmate. *side eye* And the usual coming of age sexytimes Rochelle Rochelle type of films are present. On the plus side, Rinko Kikuchi! And the doc partially funded by Coursera about the evils of the higher ed system sounds intriguing.

So first there Fox with its attempt to build out the X-Men franchise on the big screen.  That hasn't done so well, but it hasn't stopped them from releasing new movies.

Then there was Marvel's attempt to go nuts with the Avengers franchise.  That has done quite well, and at the moment we're averaging two new films in the franchise every year.

And then Warner Brothers/DC decided to finally do the same with the Justice League.  We still don't know how it will work out, but Man of Steel and Ben Affleck as Batman don't have me all that excited.

And now...  Sony has decided that *it* will do the same thing with the Spider-Man franchise.  Coming soon to a theater near you - Venom and Sinister Six movies.

/sigh

-------------

This is the way we make it in the Winger household.  This recipe comes straight off the boat from Sandviken:

1 jug port wine

1 bottle brandy

1 cup rum

1/3 cup Everclear

1 oz almond slivers

2 oz raisins

peel from 1 orange

1 cinnamon stick

pinch of cardamom (optional)

1/2 cup raw sugar

Soak raisins, almonds, sugar, spices and  orange peel in rum overnight.  Next day, add port wine and brandy to large pot. Heat on very low heat about 2 hours. Do not let it boil or burn.  Remove from heat.  Stir in contents of your rum bowl with all the goodies in it.  Stir in Everclear.  Let it cool.  Pore it all back into your various jugs and bottles and store it for a few days before you drink it.  Heat on very low setting before serving in small cups.

From Bing:

A JUG OF WINE AND YOU
(UNKNOWN)

W. Lee O'Daniel & His Hillbilly Boys

Days were dreary but now they're cheery
The sun is back up in the sky...
I'm so happy -- yes, oh so happy
And here's the reason why

Prohibition's not my ambition
But now my skies are blue
Good times called me, and fate has brought me
A jug of wine and you

Days are sunny, I feel so funny
I sing the whole day through
Why should I fret as long as I get
A jug of wine and you

Every new sensation
Makes me smile -- you'll see
Prohibition's a sad condition
But look what it brought me

I'm contented 'cause you've consented
To say the words -- I do
Rent's all paid for, and I was made for...
A jug of wine -- and you!
