But the right is collectively holding its breath anyway, because they know the media has blamed the last 15 shootings, erroneously, on crazed right wingers, so Lord only knows what they'll do when they find a real one.

When my wife made capt I was at the promotion cermony.  Had been out for some years, but one of my troops I'd pushed through basic was in her unit.  He *no shit* fled when he saw me.

I was in civilian clothes, had been out for a while, maybe 4 years or so.  Kid was an E-5 and bolted the instant I walked in the door.

To this day I still don't know what to make of that lol.

My platoon once furnished security for a group of CIA spooks in Grenada after everything was over. They wore a kind of unofficial uniform: Rayban sunglasses, Rolex watches, Izod golf shirts. The CIA is an Ivy League bastion of incompetents and the few that are genuinely good--like the female agent who found Bin Laden--their careers are frozen in place so that they pose no threat to the old boy network that has ran that agency since it was founded.

I've grown them in pots on my deck when I lived in a townhouse, and they are hotter than fuck from seed regardless of color. In the new place, the first year I tried to grow them, the deer came by and ate all the leaves and killed the plants. Last year, I sprayed them with insecticidal soap mixed with water steeped in red peppers. That kept the deer away, but that crazy derecho storm destroyed my garden. I didn't even try this year because of work.
