Pieces of Bomb's Circuit Board Recovered; May Yield Clues
— Ace

We can only hope.

There were many horrors made yesterday, but among the worst was that done to this family.

This was the eight year old boy murdered:

His entire family was decimated by the bomb. I'll refer you to the link above; I don't want to quote it.

Let me clean up a few incorrect claims I transmitted yesterday. As you all know by now, the NYPost's reporting of "at least 12 dead" seems wrong. Perhaps they were estimating that the large number of amputees either were dead or would soon be dead. 2 confirmed deaths + 10 amputations = 12.

But even so, it was wrong at the time, and many of the victims of maiming will live. The death toll will undoubtedly still rise but as of now it's two.

Also, it's not true that the feds shut down the cell phone system to stop the system from being used to detonate additional bombs.

In case you missed the earlier mention, that Saudi national who is (was?) a person of interest is looking less interesting.

[O]n Tuesday morning, one law enforcement official said investigators had determined that the man, who was injured in the blast and was questioned at the hospital, was not involved in the attack.

51 I'm shocked they seem to have no leads, especially considering the police presence/video surveillance around the finish line.  Whoever did this is probably long gone, and no one credible is claiming responsible.  We may never know who did it.  Which means the Leftwing Wall of Hate will get to continue blaming "some rightwinger" -- all while simultaneously chiding us for "jumping to conclusions" for thinking it might be the responsibility of the same group of people who are responsible for 98% of these acts.

Many prayers said for this family and all of the victims and the medical staff and police who gave aid. And for our country.

I was thinking today, that since 9/11, my sons and others do not know the freedoms we once had, the lack of fear or naivete. Whatever it was, it is gone. We may as well be living in Ireland during the IRA bombings, or in Israel. Even with the other bombings, other than the Weathermen and riots due to politics and war, that violence did not invade non-political gatherings. We will always be looking over our shoulders or for suspicious "youth." Damn them.

70 I often wonder if that botched prosecution was done on purpose.

It wasn't "botched."

First, there's no easier job in the world than getting convictions in American courts. It's this close to impossible to fuck up. Our conviction rate is like a Saddam electoral victory. Barring massive/intentional failure, whoever goes to trial goes down. Prosecutors don't even need evidence. They just need to point at a guy and say "him."

The Ayers prosecution was dropped. All the Weather cases were.

Only the Felt/Miller case wasn't...and RICHARD M.F. NIXON came out of retirement to testify for their defense.

"On purpose" greatly understates what happened.

Very greatly.

Do you not get who these people are? One of them chose our president.

79 As with all marathons, there was a medical tent staffed by a volunteer team of MDs, nurses and techs just feet from the finish line.  They were prepared for the three big issues from marathons- dehydration, hypothermia and cardiac problems.  Thus they had lots and lots of IV fluid ready to go,  blood pressure monitors, space blankets, defibrillators, EKGs and those thing that monitor the oxygen levels in the blood.  There was a story last night on Boston.com.  They ended up being an impromptu trauma center for the first hour after the explosion.  Their presence so close to the carnage may be the reason the death toll is pretty low for the massive amount of trauma that seems to have been inflicted.
