Piers Morgan: Nannying Mayors Are Needed, Because "People Need Nannying"
— Ace

Remember, Piers Morgan won The Celebrity Apprentice, not The Celebrity Genius.

This is a crap post so I'll add this from @rdbrewer4 and hope that makes it into something.

15 OT already but cat related.  There is a Honda Fit driver that should be put in jail.  The driver heard the cat but kept on driving until they reached their destination.  A trip of 1,000 miles.  Good news is the cat seems okay and is looking for a home.

23 This is an excerpt of an excerpt the Tatler had: "Republicans had offered the fence as a way to build the confidence of voters skeptical that the government will enforce its laws, but opponents said building more fencing is costly, would take too long, and shouldnÂ’t be dictated by Washington." About that last line--I thought states could not enforce immigration law, that it had to come from Washington. Isn't that what the Obama administration keeps suing states for? Maybe, just maybe, some people are full of it, and just want to legalize come hell or high water.

73 The departments of Justice and State this week are holding back-to-back LGBT events in honor of gay pride month, and as the Supreme Court prepares to deliver two landmark decisions on same-sex marriage. On Tuesday, the Justice Department celebrated pride with speeches from Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., the first openly gay member of the Senate, singer-songwriter and gay and lesbian activist Melissa Etheridge, and Attorney General Eric Holder, all on the theme “A Year of Firsts,” according to DOJPride.com, the official site for LGBT Employees at the department. And on Wednesday, the State Department will follow suit with its own pride event in which Secretary John Kerry will deliver his first speech on LGBT policy and personnel issues. “This is an opportunity for Secretary Kerry to state his position and confirm his support for LGBT employees,” says Aaron Jensen, a spokesman for the State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor. “The thrust of his speech will be that he’s equally committed to the steps Secretary Clinton took on this.” ??? 85 The ACLU, together with the NYCLU and CUNYÂ’s CLEAR Project, filed a lawsuit today challenging the New York Police DepartmentÂ’s unconstitutional policy and practice of targeting entire Muslim communities for discriminatory and suspicionless surveillance. The NYPDÂ’s vast religious profiling program has cast an unjustified badge of suspicion and stigma on hundreds of thousands of innocent New Yorkers, based on nothing more than their religious faith and practice. We represent civic and religious leaders, two mosques, and a charitable organization, all of whom were swept up in the police departmentÂ’s dragnet surveillance because they are Muslim. Fuck the ACLU

Paging Bannion,

Paging Bannion.

One of my "sins" in the eyes of a certain Religiously Affiliated Hospital group with a Magic Pen, was when I cornered our Bishop Liasion from the USCCB and asked him to explain himself for saying something similar.

He was all "rah rah, soda ban good! Government must look out for people who won't look out for themselves."

I made him explain exactly how this encourages the development of virtue (rather than mere fear of the law, which is different.)

He mumbled a bit then declared he must leave to...maybe it was dinner with someone else I don't remember.

I was told this was a bad career move. . (I'd do it again in a heartbeat.)

120 Bye! Oklahoma has executed a 36-year-old man convicted of first-degree murder in the October 2000 stabbing deaths of a couple. James Lewis DeRosa was killed by lethal injection Tuesday evening at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester. His time of death was 6:07 p.m. and he was the second inmate executed in Oklahoma this year. DeRosa had worked at the Le Flore County ranch owned by the victims, Curtis and Gloria Plummer. Prosecutors say DeRosa and an accomplice, 33-year-old John Eric Castleberry, slashed the Plummers' throats and made off with $73 and the couple's pickup truck, which was found abandoned at a nearby lake. The Plummers were in their 70s.

I still have not seen anybody explain a cogent straight forward reason why the repubs are moving along with this amnesty thing.  I know they say they can get the hispanic vote for doing it, but surely they know that's not true.

Anybody come up with a good explanation yet?  other than they are not conservatives, I mean.

Ayup.

Well some of us have been resistant to the proselytizing and neutralizing.

But this needs to go viral, and be repeated, over and over.

Question is...does Rubio know he was being used? Or did he do it on purpose, willingly.

Or is he just that fucking stupid.

Liberalism 's central conceit:
People are too stupid to rule themselves, therefore people must be ruled by a government not of impersonal, arbitrary, objective laws but of compassionate, all-knowing, all-seeing, wise and fair . . . people.

Wait, what?

I think they see illegal immigration as a sort of relief-valve against all the regulations and costs put on business.  If every business (according to the theory) had to operate 100% above-board then many important and necessary businesses would be cost-ineffective.  Sort of like farmers during the Great Depression not being able to sell their crops because it cost more to ship than they would gain in the market.  So people who weren't on farms couldn't afford food because nobody was selling.  So food was left to rot in the field.

I think they've convinced themselves that illegal immigration is actually good for business because it allows business with thin margins to operate.  I think they believe that the tax burden will be on the businesses that operate with a fatter margin, and the thin margin groups avoid this because they pay fewer taxes.
