3 I see on Drudge that a bunch of bowling hooligans in NJ had a bowling riot and got somebody killed. Bowling riots: The wave of the future in Obamerica.

Posted by: WalrusRex at October 20, 2013 11:49 AM (PjgvN)

4 A bowling riot? Seriously?

5 Bowling hooligans: not quite as ridiculous as soccer hooligans.

9 There was no description of the crowd at the NJ bowling alley where that brawl occurred. But the guy's name was "Jamount."  I don't know what to make of that....

10 Yup, 250 people riot at a bowling alley in NJ resulting in one death.

12 I have a suggestion with this new format.  How about instead of posting a new "political talk" thread after each topical post, you guys just bump the current political thread under the most current topical post?

That way on Sundays, you don't have like seven topical posts with seven political talk posts, and the politics thread can perhaps get a chance to get going?

Posted by: DangerGirl, home sweet home at October 20, 2013 11:56 AM (GrtrJ)

13 ...something tells me  the brawl  had nothing to do with bowling.

Posted by: JoeyBagels at October 20, 2013 11:56 AM (q9FX5)

14 Bowling? Is that a code for a game in which fast-moving big black objects try to knock down standing white objects?

Posted by: JoeyBagels at October 20, 2013 11:59 AM (q9FX5)

15 That's a good idea Dangergirl

This seems a better solution since politics and political dissent are a constant underlying thread here anyway.  I do like the special topics threads because it gives 'Rons with their many diverse interests a place to discuss without getting hassled, but the political thread jumping is disconcerting.

Seems similar to the rule against climbing on top of other players and then jumping to get extra height to try and block the kick.  You push your own player to try and get him closer and through the line to reach the ball or the kicker.

48 I'm never sure which threads to say what on these days!

Hadn't heard from Axelrod on Twitter lately.  He's back, I guess, and as fuckin' stupid as he ever was.  Every time I see that guy's picture I think of a guy standing on the busy street corner, opening up his jacket to passersby with an assload of watches for sale.

A new tax on drivers to pay for EDUCATION about Obamacare.
Posted by: Niedermeyer's Dead Horse

Gets better.  The tax, $10 to $15 million per year, is "administered" by the taxi drivers union, which will take a share -- that is almost all of it, for managing the tax.  Apparently this is a kickback to the union for backing some of Bloomberg's transportation scams.

58 http://tinyurl.com/lw3o794 Author, Amy Tan: Why don't 100% of the people think Ted Cruz is a megalomaniac vulture? He is a bully and a bullshitter for air time. I used to think he was a buffoon who was simply dragging down the GOP --until he dragged down the whole country and left a wake of destruction. And for that he claims he "won," meaning HE won by backing the government up against the wall and pummeling it. And now he claims he's ready to go at it again come February. Excuse me, while I look up the profile of a sociopath. ========================= Some people need a civics lesson and also should be reminded, Congress, not the President has the power of the purse...

Posted by: DangerGirl, home sweet home at October 20, 2013 03:56 PM (GrtrJ) For most days, a simple new political thread works fine, but when we have all the Sunday threads, it does create a lot of open political threads. Perhaps we can just have a single political thread to start off with and bump it to 2nd place, with new political threads only if the older one gets to stale.
