So as not to disturb the football watchers up above.

Oh, BTW, Iceland had a quiet revolution and replaced its whole government; an event the US media largely ignored initially and continues to ignore. Dream big, maybe it can happen here.[Purp]

Speaking of global warming,  I long for the days when a goofball crank like Al Gore would have been standing on a street corner wearing a sandwich board proclaiming the end of the world while sane citizens navigated a wide berth around him, hoping to avoid the flecks of spittle raining down like a monsoon.  But nooooo.  We have to give him a megaphone and a worldwide audience.

12 Then realities set in. Because of the law, the state eliminated the high-risk pool that provided his coverage, for which he paid about $400 a month. Then Ms. Horrigan learned that her insurer, Blue Cross, was discontinuing her plan — which was deemed substandard under the new law — and replacing it with one that would cost $620 a month, up from $325, with a higher deductible as well.

50 Crowdsourcing a Constitution? Reminds me of this:

It'll probably work out in Iceland, which is homogenous. Anywhere else, a crowdsourced Constitution will end up being a compromise between special interests, including corporations (the ones which backed the winners, anyway).

So, say goodbye to property-rights and hello to unions.

67 A little research indicates that Iceland article is just really badly written and misleading. Iceland threw a lot of bums out (technically they resigned under pressure), but they aren't governed by crowdsourcing social media. They did have some unusual processes like randomly selecting representatives for some purposes, but "revolution" seems to be a bit of an overstatement. The article described their financial situation *and* America's *not* objectively but from a doctrinaire left-wing point of view, that corporations and "right wingers" are to blame, and left-wing corruption and pressure aren't even worth mentioning. Exactly, precisely crappy partisan "reporting."

97 >>> Cowboys should not wear orange. It's just wrong. Real cowboys wear mauve.

99 If Cowboys wear orange do their horses go "beep beep beep" when they back up?

102 The same writer behind the Iceland piece has written other stories for them claiming that Mandela has been dead since June. And one reporting a conspiracy theory that actor Paul Walker was killed in a drone strike.

103 Has no one noted that these so-called "Icelanders" are merely dirty Skandis whose ancestors missed the last boat back to the fjords?

104 So nobody cares about politics if it's a Saturday and there is football?

Makes sense.

Checking Breitbart, there isn't anything surprising there. Nothing Obama does will surprise me.

A nuke detonating in NYC and D.C. while Obama is out of town, allowing Obama to consolidate political power would not surprise me. It would have to be bigger than that, bigger than an alien invasion from outer space. Bigger than the return of the 13th imam.

The return of Jesus, now that would be a surprise. There is always hope.

107 Lutefisk, if prepared correctly, is still inedible.

108 Here's a good resource on Iceland: http://tinyurl.com/boqxdk5 Seems to be written by a (European style) Icelander Progressive who is pretty pissed that nothing has really changed. Funny comments BTW by a couple of "Visiting Progressive 'tourists'" who just happened by coincidence and serendipity to have been traveling in Iceland during the bruhaha and are down for the Marxist revolution that didn't happen.

109 Started snowing again. We got 10-12" on Tuesday. Watched a Jeep get stuck on our hill half an hour ago. Have a feeling we'll be in all day today. Glad I stocked up.

110 This is really kind of a nothing, the country has about 300,000 people total.  2/3 of them live in Reykjavik and they are all related (seriously there are only like 5 last names in the whole country - the phone book is organized by first name).  This wasn't an overthrow of a government as much as an American Thanksgiving dinner writ large.

111 Why, exactly, would we expect a MSM that ignores Canada and Mexico to pay attention to Iceland?
