Pro-Gun-Control Senator Thanks CNN "For [Its] Support"
— Ace

Everyone seems aware of CNN's partisan affiliation and ideological leanings except, according to their claims, CNN itself.

The pro-gun-control left should thank CNN. And CNN should accept their gratitude. They are allies. Why continue this charade?

Tuesday, CNN came out of the closet with an open declaration that "The Most Trusted Name In News" would use two full days of programming as a propaganda push for legislation tightening background checks. CNN has been so good about keeping that promise that this morning a pro-gun control Senator thanked a CNN anchor for his support.

Wednesday morning on "Starting Point," anchors John Berman and Christine Roman hosted Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), one of the two senators responsible for the compromise legislation on background checks.

...

And then, appropriately enough, the segment ended with Manchin thanking Berman for his support:

Berman: Senator Joe Manchin from West Virginia, you've been working around the clock for a compromise deal. I think you have a very busy few weeks ahead of you still.

Manchin: We appreciate your support, too, this is very, very important.

6 I had this discussion with my husband this morning.  Who is more trustworthy?  The person who openly acknowledges their bias or the person who says I'm unbiased and what I give you is the truth?  The hatred of Fox by those on the left is laughable.  Fox will tell you the line-up leans right.  CNN will tell you they give you the truth.

When Ted Cruz and Diane Feinstein mixed it up over her hypocrisy on First and Second Amendment rights, Blitzer played only Cruz's setup, with his Civics lesson lecture to Feinstein. They cut the part where he asks her whether she'd support abridgement of First Amendment rights as she supports limiting rights under the Second.

Nobody watching could come away with any other impression but that he was lecturing her in a condescending way. And his very good point was simply cut. Feinstein got maybe a minute of her response in, Cruz one sentence. CNN is disgusting.

On at least two occasions – the latest of which was January — weapons data was delivered to the feds, according to an article published in the Columbia Daily Tribune. In looking into the matter, officials noted that in Nov. 2011 and this past January, the patrol asked for the entire list of 185,000 concealed carry residents from the state’s Division of Motor Vehicle and Driver Licensing. Then, this information was apparently shared beyond the state’s boundaries.

89 Federal authoritarians and their "gun control" mania must first confine their own impulsive, initiative and "eternal" wars of aggression for global-corporatist profit at the COMPLETE expense of humanity destroyed, taking down the salt of the earth first, the working "middle class". At this point, vacate D.C., politicians. Just go home and let your fellow Americans be with Liberty and Justice for All, equal under the Rule of Law. "Consumption?" By parasites and Ponzi pirates. Politicians with sticky fingers and deep pocket shared with lobbying Globalist Corporative Boards that dictate policy to governments monopolize whatever "consumption" of goods and services, afforded by taxpayers who reap no benefits despite pledges and promises to repeal, to not fund, and despite titles of comprehensive legislative reforms, all things now revisionist. Obama's mandate: "Suck It Up," suckers. GWB took "it" to "them" so "it" wouldn't happen here. How's that authoritarianism working out for American taxpayers? Winning the hearts and minds of the enemy? We are deemed to be the enemy as defined by the DHS that's now targeting for prosecution/disappearance such law abiding conservative Americans and veterans who are loyal to our US Constitution and Bill of Rights, and to our Country itself. So we're all just seen to be piss ants, running around in a fury because Uncle Sam's game perpetually knocks down our ant hill called home.

94 This Manchin/Toomey clusterfuck is sounding like what is already in place in Pennsylvania. You buy a handgun from a private individual and go to a dealer for a NICS check (run by the state police in Pa). You pay a fee, usually about $30 as there was latitude given the dealers as to what they can charge. You have to fill out a 4473 Fed form and one from the state cops which is forwarded to them. Now, this state form contains the serial number, make and model of the handgun, yet there is "no firearms registration" in Pa. Now, multiply this to include all firearms, and "decorate the tree" with other bullshit we will not know about until passed, and we have once again been screwed.

149

Well, here's what I sent to Sen. Lee, though I doubt he got it in time.

------------

The Founders held the right to bear arms to be so important that they made it the SECOND amendment to the Constitution,   after only the right to free speech, free assembly, free exercise of religion; they held it second only, in effect, to freedom itself.   They held it more important even than due process of law or the right to a jury of one's peers.   If we're willing to infringe on the second most vital amendment to the Constitution, then what's to prevent the infringement of every amendment that follows it?

Had those ten amendments in the Bill of Rights not been passed the Constitution itself would not have been ratified.  That is how vital those amendments are, and how come it is only a FOOL who would intrude upon them for petty power points or political gain.

As far as I'm concerned, there is no "gun control" debate.   That debate was had back in 1789, and the decision was that gun control is a bad thing, and,   "The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Case closed.

This stuff feeds on itself like fire. The phrase "normal folk who want to be left alone" pretty much addresses the problem. I do not believe that those (we) folks, calm and conservative by nature, can be rallied to any significant action until it is just too late. It is always possible that some charismatic conservative leader will turn up, but it better happen quickly. In the meanwhile, when one looks about, it is obvious that on-the-street conservatives are disgusted, but we don't do much more than talk among ourselves. Meanwhile, the Left is in full-on attack mode at every level.

(The Daily Caller) Eighth graders in Union Grove, Wisc. — a tiny enclave just over the Illinois border — are learning reading, writing, arithmetic and, of course, that conservatives are a bunch of authoritarian, oppressive thugs.

As EAGnews explains, an unnamed eighth-grade teacher in the Union Grove school district assigned a vocabulary crossword puzzle with clues containing “definitions” of liberalism and conservatism.

Conservatism, according to the public school assignment, is “the political belief of preserving traditional moral values by restricting personal freedoms and encouraging prosperity through economic freedom.”

How are impressionable Union Grove eighth graders instructed about liberalism? They are indoctrinated that it is “the political belief of equality and personal freedom for everyone, often changing the current system to increase government protection of civil liberties.”

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has twice turned over the entire list of Missouri concealed weapon permit holders to federal authorities, most recently in January, Sen. Kurt Schaefer said Wednesday.

Questioning in the Senate Appropriations Committee revealed that on two occasions, in November 2011 and again in January, the patrol asked for and received the full list from the state Division of Motor Vehicle and Driver Licensing

192 You can pretty much tell what a Bill is NOT going to do.

The current lie for the gun grabbing and confiscation preparation bill is:

Public Safety and Second Amendment Rights Protection Bill.
(as proposed by Senator Toomey and named by memeorandum)

It will not improve Public safety nor does it protect 2A Rights.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED SEN. TOOMEY!!

Wrote him 2 emails; 1 to not do this and the 2nd telling him he was toast for doing this. Too bad my elected representative doesn't listen to me or millions of other PA Citizens. I know his email was getting slammed when I tried to send the 2nd one yesterday and pics I've seen of him, he knows he's screwed up.

I hear Bloomberg threatened ads in PA about him but he's not up for reelection til '16 so why's he concerned? I think The Pipsqueak for NYC had more on him than we know and Toomey caved.

(btw Toomey is NOT a native Pennsylvanian. He moved there sometime after he graduated Harvard. He is also tied to BANKING INTERESTS and was involved in credit swaps, a bane to the economy for us little people.)

Agreed. Socialist government-as-religion wasn't really a factor yet (although the French Revolution was in the same general time frame). I think the advent of instant communication made the jobs of those devoted solely to obtaining power easier as well, and that was something entirely unforseen by the Founders.

Granted, technology has made it easier for those who   wish to enslave us to organize and coordinate their efforts.

But when one focuses  on Principle, as the Founders did, one  recognizes that Evil never stops. The insightful  minds that forged our country knew the faults of human nature, and did everything in their power to   minimize those faults within  government. It's taken over 200 years, but it appears that, by tolerating lies from our   leaders, Evil has finally won.

What recourse remains for us? How can we counter the overt efforts of CNN and the other media outlets  who are   openly trying to brainwash the LIV's to give up their God-given rights? They should be stopped,  but how?

I think an intensive top to bottom "re-org" of our culture is in order after Teh Burn and Balkanization.  Clearly spell out the differences between the Left and Right and the reasons why liberalism doesn't and will never work.  Re-build the schools and media not to censor the left, but to expose every sorry ass facet of their history so everyone can see what a horrible waste of time it was to tolerate them.  Show the reasons for everything up to Teh Burn and why we won't go there again.  Ever.

The    time is coming for us to free ourselves from the forces of tyranny. We will   be forced to impose our will on our masters, and   cast off their chains. If we don't insist upon our freedom, in whatever form  that takes,  we will become slaves.

273 "We seriously need to split this country in two." No, not in two. No need to "reinvent" the wheel. Reference check the US Constitution as the Urtext respecting balanced and limited governance... UNALIENABLE INDIVIDUAL Rights have complete precedence to all others. STATE'S Rights have priority, and precede the existence of any nationally centralized/federal authority. Just as the original confederation of states wasn't well coordinated after our American 1776 Revolution and eventual national Independence, those concerned reconvened to better facilitate the establishment of a national identity. But Sovereign State's Rights were absolutely respected. Until the Industrialists determined to monopolize the economy via politics. /Morons may as well admit that slavery was already being phased out culturally and politically; and that the War Between the States was not begun over slavery, but over the Industrialists' refusal to financially sponsor their own ventures without forcing tax payers to fund such investments, and specifically forcing the agrarian economy to provide the funding for the industrialists who were not investing in the South, but in the North and 'midwest' north (railways, mills, factories). Had the so called civil war been instigated in order to end racism, then the North lost. Blacks may have been "freed" but were not welcome except as servants with no better situation than previously. As if the poverty suffered was any more benevolent from the Robber Barons, regardless of ethnicity, while every family member including children all worked 12 hour days 6 days a week in sweat shops and mines with no consideration for worker safety standards or medical care for the injured workers. Don't go on and on about blaming Unions for corruption, as if they either have the monopoly on corruption, or even that they created corruption. Look to our own government at every level, local/state/federal, that functions today on the grounds of complete corruption and amassing tyranny abroad so that we will suffer from tyranny at home. 86. Idea Determines Form. Authenticity... Don't fall for a constitutional convention with this gang of thugs to finish that off. We don't want to CHANGE the Constitution, imo. But we do want to REPEAL legislation that has made Constitutional Governance nonexistent. Branches of government begat illegitimate bureaucracies, bastardizing our nation, usurping powers never vested constitutionally in order to destroy the Constitution, the US citizenry and the enlightenment that recognizes and respects the unalienable rights applicable to all of humanity. The charismatic leader is the untrustworthy person. As if Hollywood hasn't illustrated that for Americans, if the viewing audience failed to notice that leaders or stars are frauds that profit by skinning you alive, including charismatic Ponzi "investment" advisers selling a thousand points of light, a kinder-gentler nation, Socialist compassionate conservatism, corporatist Statism, the Patriot Act and DHS to erase US Constitutional Governance, TARP to save the Dollar that was entirely gifted the the thieves that "invested" into their own Ponzi schemes at taxpayer entire expense for global meltdown, Executive Orders including Bush's "authorizing" the office of the Treasury Secretary with complete autonomy, or simply Wilson's Federal Reserve that sells AT INTEREST DEBT the printed fiat Dollar to the US Government to spend without impediment from the US citizenry or constitutional protocol, the citizen votes most certainly not represented in Washington by elected Congress and the Potus/Cabinet, nor is the Will of the People represented by the Judicial Branch and the SCOTUS.

My meaning is there would probably cease to be those little republics before too long because world powers would move in and annex them.  You'd find yourself living under a foreign power.  The world hates America, they'd have a Thatcher party at our demise, and continue to party as the rest of the world ate up the left over scraps of the nation.

I think breaking up into states would just be a different flavor of absolute destruction.

No idea. I just got a new laptop with Windows 8. Or as I like to call it, Winblows Hate. What an utter piece of shit OS. Not everyone wants a fucking touch screen laptop. Some of us use it to work and don't want to reach over to find something. If you can find it at all. I had my computer guy change the start menu to look like Windows 7 so I can at least find where to turn the fricking thing off! Some companies I work with won't support applications on Winblows Hate. ...remember when I said yesterday that until and unless the NRA publicly announced that they were going to "score" a vote on this background check bill for their legislative report card, that their opposition to it was merely for show?

Well they just announced this morning, via spokesman Chris Cox, that they were indeed going to score this as a "key vote."  So whether that was their intention all along, or they got pushed into it by grassroots protest, the NRA's opposition to Manchin/Toomey bill is now official and has 'teeth.'

328 Conservatives, or as I like to say Constitutionalists, have always had the problem of having to vote for those who SAY they'll represent them but then when they are elected, change into or reveal themselves to actually be representing others.

They then apply parliamentary tricks and turns of phrase to still seem to be representing us but their actual actions aid those who don't.

We take people at their word and the election schedule allows false flag representatives to do a lot of damage before they can be turned out of office. Plus not all of us agree to how much damage they're doing and how much damage would be done by ousting them.

Thus we have people like McCain and Graham and Boehner representing us in name only. Yet they continue to be reelected.

Until we can effectively communicate the condition of the Republic to the citizens, we will be unable to affect much change to revert to a more productive and viable society.

Communications is the key. And the Left has always known that.

We, on the other hand, recognize Truth when we hear it. We are concerned with providing a safe  and loving   home  for our families, free   from  unnecessary meddling. 342 Just playing some philosophical games here ... I was wondering what the absolute minimum gun laws should be. I considered the wording of the Second Amendment -- "shall not be abridged" which, if taken literally, would suggest NO gun laws. Then, since our legal heritage is Judeo-Christian, I tried to recall if there are any Mosaic laws or teachings of Christ that impose any limits on possession of weapons. I'm drawing a complete blank. (Of course, there are laws against maiming and killing, but a person can do that with or without weapons.) Then I considered the conundrum of mentally ill people who might be prone to violence. Not sure what to do with that. This is a little exercise I do with different types of legislation, wondering how things would be if we took a minimalist approach to legislation.

Communications is the key. And the Left has always known that. Posted by: Bitter Clinger and All That at April 11, 2013 11:26 AM (Kpn/z) Exactly. If we can't get equal footing in the communications department, we can't win. If we CAN get equal footing, we will obliterate them.

No argument here, I'm of the opinion that any degree ending in 'Science' involves anything but, and any degree ending in 'Studies' means the degree requires none to receive it.

Posted by: Serious Cat at April 11, 2013 .......Not sure about XP. The one I had done basically makes it look and function (not completely) like Windows 7. I'm sure eventually I would get used to it. But the main problem for me is interfacing with other companies I work for, they haven't figured out "fixes" yet to function from their OS.

"shall not be infringed" seems pretty absolute to me. What about crazy people and criminals? Well, we're doing such a great job with all the laws we have now keeping guns out of their hands...

There are no reasonable restrictions on Constitutionally protected rights. Note the period at the end of that statement.

We need to attack the University system of learning and bring down it's socialist members financially.

344 -

The word is "infringed," but yeah, same difference.

It's a good question, and we clearly have courts that have decided these rights CAN be infringed, so the question that remains, and I hate being so dramatic about it, but how far are we willing to allow the infringement to go on before we're ready to take up said arms in defense of our liberties?

All I know is we obviously haven't gotten there yet.

Get "Classic Shell". (FREE) It installs on windows 8 and gives you a "Start" button on the desktop like you are used to.  All the "explorer" screens can be customized to look like XP (or win 7 or Vista) as well.

381 abridged, a·bridg·ing, a·bridg·es. 1. To reduce the length of (a written text); condense. 2. To cut short; curtail. See Synonyms at shorten.

Infringe: Act so as to limit or undermine (something); encroach on: "infringe on his privacy".

Not they're not the same difference.

keep in mind that words usually have a defined meaning and that meaning must be strictly applied.

We have a guy whose position is CIO of the OIG.  He's been sent on 'temporary duty' for the past five months due to multiple charges of harassment, abuse of power, and general conduct unbecoming.

Today, he popped in for a vist 'to see how things were going without [him]' and called a meeting.  (First, deposed leaders can call meetings?)

In this meeting he tried to explain why he has an open door policy.  In his explanation, he said the following:

"In my experience, when men come into my office with problems, they either have a solution in mind, or are looking to me to provide one.  When women come into my office, it's just to vent."

The world stopped turning on its axis, and I pondered the fallout from such a blatantly sexist comment from a person ALREADY in a shit-ton of trouble.

Then, the HR Director guy next to me says, clear as day, and to the room as a whole:  "Yeah, I notice that a lot, too.  It's frustrating."

388 @jamiedupree Senate votes 68-31 [to invoke cloture] Posted by: 80sBaby at April 11, 2013 11:36 AM (YjDyJ) Think I read here that the cloture vote is doubly irresponsible since the bill considered under the cloture is a shell game bill for the actual bill to be introduced later. In other words, all these R traitors don't have an effing clue as to what the eventual bill will say legislatively, but they voted to consider it anyway. I wonder how many czars and IRS agents will be required in the 20,000 pages of new regulations I expect to magically appear related to gun control. I wouldn't be surprised to find that an exception to background checks will be in the bill for former and present Congress person's etc. Another little detail our RINO traitors haven't noted is that with automated background checks, the IRS will know how many guns you have (legally) and can easily assess taxes on your Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Since it will be ruled a tax by CJSC Roberts it will be legal!!
