Overnight Open Thread
— Ace

Just an empty open thread, except for a Peanuts video.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I'm not sure if Maet or CDMR or Walt or TMI has something tonight. If they do, then I guess this will become a superfluous early open thread.

(I put up a thread for anyone watching the Doctor Who episode below.)

13 FWIW, the Iowa trip is a go. Plans are to cruise the southerly route through Memphis TN, St Louis MO, KCMO, then north to SW Iowa.

I'm taking off from Raleigh early on the 2nd and hope to be in Memphis (well, Millington actually, just north of Memphis) by 8 PM (7 PM local time), then I'll head out from there early next morning.

St Louis between 12:30 and 1, stop for dinner, KCMO around 6 PM and stop for supper, and SW Iowa two and a quarter hours after leaving KCMO (whenever that happens to be).

Any morons/ettes along the route that want to do a meet n' greet, I'm amiable.

Then promptly broke one of my new glasses, hyperventilated about cut on finger, refused proffered bandages and sent my dad to Walgreens instead. 47 I was reading this piece about Egypt when I noticed that it seemed to parallel the US .. well .. a lot ...

When the Brotherhood -your friend Morsi ruled- he brought Egypt to its knees.

GDP growth went from 7.5 pct to less than 1%.

Egypt’s credit rating was down graded 6 times in the one year of Morsi”s rule.

During Morsi”s rule, Egypt’s external debt increased by 33% thanks to his borrowing heavily from Turkey and Qatar.

Morsi banned 25000 EgyptianÂ’s from travelling because of their anti brotherhood writings, articles, tv interviews, etc and not one peep from the NYT !!!

Morsi usurped by presidential decree executive, legislative and judiciary powers and railroaded a constitution taking Egypt down the path of a theological state and not a peep from the NYT !!!

Morsi gave 5600 Hamas fighters Egyptian nationality by presidential decree.

Then my sisters were rather snotty to my kids who did make it over there (I am known as rather anti-social gathering) and I am just up from my long nap. Still have a lot of cleanup, but at least it is fixed and everything is okay. 91 Ricardo, youÂ’ll probably be in pain for a few days, if it lasts more than a week from today, see a doctor. I live my life in chronic pain and take meds, one of the forgotten things is aspirin. If your stomach can take it, take a few. It helps with the swelling and pain. If you have ever looked at Bayer Back pain bottle the only ingredient it has that others donÂ’t is caffeine. Caffeine is a pain reliever enhancer. If not, try another anti-inflammatory, like Motrin or Aleve. The swelling causes most of the pain.

They are noted for having pipes in that one uninsulated area suddenly go blooey. 95 Mayday, it's weird to me, too. I hate the whole dance of "thanks for dinner, let me help with the dishes!". Offering once is fine, IF a person will actually accept "no, thanks". But for whatever reason, my stepmom won't. I chased her out of my kitchen earlier in the day and my husband found her sweeping my just-swept living room. At that point, my dad ended up scooting her out of my house for an hour, letting sleep-deprived Jenny get her bearings back before dinner. But, she and my dad did bring my nephew to see us, for the first time in five years, and all things considered we had a pretty decent day.

97 "If not, try another anti-inflammatory, like Motrin or Aleve. The swelling causes most of the pain. " Carol, I've been alternating between ibuprofen and acetaminophen every several hours for the last few days. Only relief I've had. Don't have a heating and hating of going to the store to get one because I've been having such a hard time getting around. Sorry that you have to be in that situation. I'm lucky in that respect and I am thankful for it. I guess that's why I'm a weenie anytime anything ever hurts

101 Stringer -- Single story but insulation came off the pipe right at the point of roofline change to the addition. We were lucky we could fix it because trying to find a plumber on Christmas Eve after two days of subzero cold would have been a miracle.

102 Posted by: Misanthropic Humanitarian My Aunt is a retired nurse suffering from knee pain & refuses for now to have a replacement. She is going to have injections of what my oldest brother has had in his knee, itÂ’s called Synvisc. My brother also refuses to have a new knee. My Aunt was going to PT regularly and told me she feels better now that they have stopped. DonÂ’t let them push you more than what you feel comfortable with. They donÂ’t know how you feel.
