Quinnipiac: Obama's Job Approval Drops to Fresh Low
— Ace

38%, with 57% (!!!) disapproving.

Among Independents, he's at... 30%.

Today, Obama gets negative scores of 6 - 92 percent among Republicans, 30 - 62 percent among independent voters, 31 - 64 percent among men, 44 - 49 percent among women and 29 - 65 among white voters. Approval is 76 - 18 percent among Democrats and 85 - 9 percent among black voters.

This, of course, has impacted the Generic Ballot:

American voters say 41 - 38 percent that they would vote for a Republican over a Democrat for the U.S. House of Representatives, the first time this year the Democrats come up on the short end of this generic ballot. Independent voters back Republican candidates 41 - 28 percent. Voters also say 47 - 42 percent that they would like to see Republicans gain control of the U.S. Senate and the House. Independent voters go Republican 50 - 35 percent for each.

On to the personal ratings:

President Obama is not honest and trustworthy, American voters say 52 - 44 percent and is not a strong leader, voters say 51 - 47 percent. Voters are divided 48 - 49 percent on whether Obama cares about their needs and problems.

As for the "good news" for Obama: the public disapproves of the job Republicans in Congress are doing by an even higher percentage, and the public feels, by a 2:1 ratio, that the minimum wage should be hiked.

You can tell they don't really care terribly much about these feelings based on their wish that Republicans recapture Congress. Yes, they're down on the GOP, and yes, they say the Nice Media-Approved Thing with regard to the minimum wage, but if this were driving their voting preferences it would, well, actually drive their voting preferences.

Thanks to @slublog, or, as I call him, The Hot Air Meatball.

11 85 - 9 percent among black voters --- The real fun will start when his approval amongst blacks drops into the 60s and 70s. He's already severely underwater with most groups but black support is what has been keeping him afloat. He's now starting to bleed that support.

60 46 What the people say to pollsters, and which votes are counted in an election are two very different things. --- True. But Dem pollsters finding out that public opinion is turning sharply against them tends to cause Dems to do stupid things. When Dems do stupid things, it means more people are likely to vote against them and makes it harder to steal elections though not impossible.

Posted by: toby928 at December 10, 2013 04:53 PM (evdj2) ------------------------------ I remember WZ had an article about the 98%+ support Obama got from black women in 2012. Along with the article there was a chart of exit polls showing different demos' votes. One thing that really struck me that was that only 80% of black males voted for Obama in 2012. IIRC, 17% voted for Romney. I later saw some other data from the election that showed pretty much the same thing. Okay, 80% is still big Dem support, but...... I think the GOP can get through to black males. Really. Just a marginal shift of 10% or so could make a big difference.

70 57 Reminds me of a joke I heard about a bear and a hunter. Do tell..... Posted by: rickb223 at December 10, 2013 05:03 PM (lUXJH) A hunter goes into the woods to hunt a bear, armed with a rifle. He finds some bear tracks and follows them around a copse of trees. But he's suddenly alarmed to realize the bear has doubled-back, and is behind him. He spins around to shoot the bear but the bear pounces upon him. The bear throws him to the ground, tears his pants off, and f***s him up the a**. The hunter leaves the forest, humiliated, confused. He resolves that this bear who violated him shall not live. He buys not one but ten bear traps, and sets out into the woods again. He lays each trap carefully, baiting each with a full salmon. As he's laying the last salmon on the last trap, he catches a scent he's smelled before -- the bear has silently stalked him, and is now directly behind him. The man whirls about, but it is too late. The bear swats him to the ground, turns him over, tears his pants off, and f***s him up the ass. Once again the man staggers out of the forest, ashamed and angry. The bear has not merely defeated him; the bear has stolen his masculine honor for him. He goes to an Army-Navy store and purchases a dozen grenades. He special-orders a high-caliber rifle with a laser-targeting system. Thus armed, he sets out into the woods again. Slowly he stalks the forest, his boots crunching lightly in the snow. In the distance, he hears a large bear howling. He rushes towards the sound. Before him is an icy creek, cold and deep. Bear tracks lead up to the creek -- perhaps the bear crossed the water here. The hunter steps into the frigid water in his hip-wader boots and begins to ford the stream. Suddenly the bear bursts out of the creek, slaps him three times in the face with his paws, heaves him to the shore like he was a toy, and strips the pants from his ass with his claws. The hunter grits his teeth as the bear is about to assault him. Suddenly the bear stops, and whispers seductively in his ear, "How long must we play this little game of ours, darling?" Close it up

94 A young man named Jon received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. Jon tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to "clean up" the bird's vocabulary. Finally Jon was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. Jon shook the parrot and the parrot got even angrier and more rude. Jon in desperation, threw up his hands and grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then, suddenly there was total quiet, not a peep was heard. Fearing that he had hurt the parrot, Jon quickly opened the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto Jon's outstretched arm and said "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions." "I am sincerely remorseful for any inappropriate transgressions." "I fully intend to do everything I can do to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior". Jon was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. He was about to ask the parrot why he had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, but the bird continued... "May I ask what the turkey did?"

97 Parrot joke: The Titanic, on her maiden voyage, just set sail from the shores of England. It was the most magnificent ship ever built, and everybody is very excited. No expense has been spared - the vast dining rooms, casinos, hundreds of neatly groomed waiters and polite service staff, string quartets, the works. Every night at the bar, they had this magician come on and perform the most wonderfully amazing tricks of conjury the world had ever seen. It's the first night of the voyage, and everyone is eager to see this great man at work, except there was one slight problem. There was this parrot, who'd sit on the bar top by the peanuts, and ruin each trick as the magician performed them. Each time, the parrot would sit quietly until the trick was almost completed, and say things like, "Squark! It's up his sleeve!" or "Sqeeek! He's hidden it in the hat!" etc., and ruin the trick for the magician. Every time, the parrot would do this, and the magician would get madder and madder as the night wore on. The same happened on the next night, and the one after that. The magician would shake with fury at this silly parrot ruining his world famous show. He spent his days devising even better and more stupendously amazing tricks in an effort to fool this bloody parrot. One night, the magician is about to perform his greatest trick of the voyage. The lights are dimmed, a hushed silence sweeps across the bar floor, a drum roll builds up to a mighty crescendo as the magician performs his final piece de resistance....and suddenly the ship hits an iceberg and sinks... For three days, the magician manages to cling to a door floating around in the wreckage, starving, thirsty. On the third day, he notices at the other end of the door, the parrot, sitting calmly and quietly, staring back at him. For three more days the magician just glowers at him, not saying a word - bitter, hushed, resentful, silence. That is, until one day, when the parrot can't contain himself any longer and squarks, "Alright! I give up! What have you done with the ship?!"

106 A lady desiring companionship bought a parrot from a local pet store, complete with cage. Before purchasing it she asked for a guarantee that it would talk and was assured that it would. She took the parrot home. Then, a week and a half later, she returned to the store very disappointed. "The parrot doesn't talk." "Did you buy a mirror?" "No." "Every parrot needs a mirror." So she bought a mirror and installed it in the parrot's cage. Another week and a half went by and she returned again. "The parrot still doesn't talk." "Did you buy a ladder?" "No." "Every parrot needs a ladder." So she bought a ladder and installed it in the cage. Another week and a half passed and she returned yet again. "The parrot still doesn't talk." "Did you buy a swing?" "No." "Every parrot needs a swing." So she bought a swing and installed it in the cage. A week and a half later she returned. She was furious! The store owner asked, "Did the parrot talk?" "No!, he died." "Oh, that's terrible. Did he say anything before he died?" "Yes." "What?" "He gasped 'Don't they have any food down at that store?'"

131 Four brothers left home for college, and they became successful doctors and lawyers. One evening, they chatted after having dinner together. They discussed the 95th birthday gifts they were able to give their elderly mother who moved to Florida ... The first said, "You know I had a big house built for Mama." The second said, "And I had a large theater built in the house." The third said, "And I had my Mercedes dealer deliver an SL600 to her." The fourth said, "You know how Mama loved reading the Bible and you know she can't read anymore because she can't see very well. I met this preacher who told me about a parrot who could recite the entire Bible. It took ten preachers almost 8 years to teach him. I had to pledge to contribute $50,000 a year for five years to the church, but it was worth it. Mama only has to name the chapter and verse, and the parrot will recite it." The other brothers were impressed. After the celebration Mama sent out her "Thank You" notes. She wrote: "Milton , the house you built is so huge that I live in only one room, but I have to clean the whole house. Thanks anyway." "Marvin, I am too old to travel. I stay home; I have my groceries delivered, so I never use the Mercedes. The thought was good. Thanks." "Michael, you gave me an expensive theater with Dolby sound and it can hold 50 people, but all of my friends are dead, I've lost my hearing, and I'm nearly blind. I'll never use it. Thank you for the gesture just the same." "Dearest Melvin, you were the only son to have the good sense to give a little thought to your gift. The chicken was delicious. Thank you so much." Love, Mama

Incredibly, even Democrats now are dissastisfied with the direction of the country (see question 6 results).  In this poll, 54% are either "somewhat" (34%) or "very" (21% dissatisfied with the direction of the country.  Only 3% of Democrats are "very satisfied".

This is the most staggering number I've ever seen from Democrats.  Even black voters, who have been the most patient with the President and from whom he still draws his strongest levels of support, are only 53-47 liking the direction of the country.

Atheists assert that the abolition of religion leads to more freedom. But, religion having been abolished, one is more compelled than ever to "say the right things" and so forth. And it's precisely the same imbeciles who asserted that the abolition of religion would lead to more freedom who feel that they have some sort of right to shame people into having and voicing the "proper opinions," which, coincidentally, have nothing to do with science or anything else bordering on the worthwhile. 164 A man went into a bar and said to the bartender, "If you give me free drinks all night, I will entertain your customers so much they will stay all night and drink lots and lots." "Oh yes," says the bartender. "How are you going to do that?" The man gets a hamster out of his pocket and puts it on the piano. The hamster runs up and down the keyboard playing the greatest piano music anyone had ever heard. "That's incredible!" says the bartender. "Have you got anything else?" The man gets a parrot out of his other pocket and puts it on the bar. The hamster begins to play the piano again and the parrot sings along - sounding just like Pavarotti. Everyone in the bar is amazed and stayed all night drinking and listening to the hamster and parrot. The bartender is delighted. "I must have these animals. Will you sell them to me?" he asks. The man shook his head no. "Will you sell just one then?" asks the bartender. "OK, I'll sell you the parrot for $100" the man says. The bartender is delighted and hands over the money. Another man standing next to the man who owned the hamster said, "You're a bit stupid selling that clever parrot for only $100". "No I'm not," the man replied. "The hamster is a ventriloquist"!!!

171 They served their country, but they died alone. The bodies of 10 South Carolina veterans who represented four branches of U.S. armed forces during the Korean and Vietnam wars will be buried Friday with the dignity they earned, thanks to a group called the Missing in America Project. Friday's ceremonies were arranged by the South Carolina chapter of the national nonprofit group, which seeks to locate, identify and ultimately inter unclaimed remains of U.S. veterans. “I have a very good appreciation for what servicemen and servicewomen sacrificed,” said Steve Goulet, who retired from the Army in 2005 after 29 years as a combat engineer and now serves as the project's South Carolina coordinator. “I know what they put on the line every day and why they deserve to be buried with honor and dignity. They certainly don’t deserve to spend eternity stored on a shelf.” The cremated remains of the veterans, including members of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines, will be buried during a ceremony at Beaufort National Cemetery. Friday’s military funerals, which are open to the public, will bring to 31 the number of veterans identified and interred by the Missing in America Project in South Carolina. Gov. Nikki Haley signed a law in 2012 that allows funeral homes to bury the remains of veterans or transfer them to service organizations for proper burial. Previous ceremonies have taken place at Florence National Cemetery in Florence and Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia. Goulet said it's the least America can do for men and women who served in combat. We need some feel good storys

175 The "cares" thing is hugely important.

Dem voters are a collection of various groups --

government bureaucrats, FSA, blacks and other minorities who choose victim status, victims of other types, weird leftist government-is-my-religion types, paranoid whackjobs, Grandpappy-was-a-dem-so-I'm-a-Dem, I hate Reps, seem like nice people, Cuz they care, and some others.

The key message to me is that there are actually very few of these groups can be peeled from the Dem column in significant numbers.  However, the "nice people" and "cuz they care" voters are certainly vulnerable at this time.  Reps need to push the message that Dems don't really care about people hard and incessantly.

For example, "If Democrats really cared about people they would not have caused their insurance to be cancelled and then lied to their faces about it."

"If Democrats really cared about people they would not pursue policies that caused people to go without work for so long."

Etc., Etc.  A 10% swing in the "cuz they care" voters is a BFD and would decide a lot of elections.

182 A traveling salesman driving through rural Pennsylvania has his car break down late one evening.  Unable to get reception on his mobile phone, he walks to the nearest farm house.

The kindly old farmer lets him use his phone, only to discover that a tow truck can't make it until morning.  The farmer has no room in the house, but the salesman takes up his offer to let him sleep in the barn for the night.

Fifteen minutes later the farmer answers his door to find the very excited salesman.  "Farmer Joeseph, did you know you have a talking horse?"

The farmer was about to run him off for being crazy or on drugs, but the salesman was adamant that the horse could talk.  To settle the matter, he accompanies the salesman to the horse stall.

"OK horse, you can talk, right?"
"Yeah I can talk"
"How's Farmer Joe been treating you"
"Pretty good.  I get plenty of oats and he keeps my stall clean.  After we go riding, he gives me a fresh apple."

Stunned, the farmer goes back inside thinking of the fame and fortune his talking horse will bring.

Before he could even finish the thought, there's again a knock on the door.  It's the salesman again.

"Farmer Joesph, did you know you have a talking cow?"
"No!  Show me!"

Hardly believing he could have TWO talking animals, he joins the salesman in the barn.

"Hi, Cow.  Has Farmer Joe been treating you well?"
"Sure.  He's always gentle at milking time and lets me out during the day to lounge in the pasture.  No complaints I guess."

Barely able to contain himself over his stroke of luck, the farmer retreats to the house to settle in for the night.

Just as he changes into his pajamas the salesman is again at his door.

"Farmer Joe, did you know you have a talking sheep?"

"THE SHEEP IS A DAMN DIRTY LIAR!"

190 ObamaCare is being attributed to the failing of SCoaMF; however, isn't it just the straw that broke the camel's back? Yes, ObamaCare is a doozy of a fiasco and in the past, it and it alone would bring down an administration. Alas, for Democrats and Obama, it wouldn't be nearly enough by itself. Not in this day and age.

No, ObamaCare is the culmination of a parade of fiascos which ultimately indicted "big government" for a new generation. The nation coasted post-Reagan because Carter. This is a repeat with a pendulum swing even more pronounced. But ObamaCare alone wouldn't be enough. It took Fast 'N Furious, Benghazi, drones, NSA, press investigation, IRS, unemployment, crushing debt, laughable budgeting, Solyndra, crony bailouts, Holder impeachment, Maoist advisors, and patent, provable lying to get where we are. And the list could continue a good bit longer.

It's truly incredible that his support remains so high despite this serial cascade of crap being dumped on our heads. But ObamaCare alone could have survived but for SCoaMF himself prepping the battlefield for its demise with his fuckupedness.

225 Hypothesis: Affection for sometime can either maintain and remain as affection, or it can be sullied and degrade into dislike. However, dislike for someone pretty much always maintains as dislike, and it is very difficult to reverse opinions upward and suddenly begin to like someone you currently dislike. In other words: Love is a fragile thing, but hate is a tenacious motherfucker. If this hypothesis is true (and a lifetime of observation and experience, in the public and personal spheres, informs me that it is), then Obama's "fresh low" of voter disapproval will not so easily be reversed, no matter what happens. The spell has been broken. Even if (unlikely though it may be -- just stay with me on this for the purposes of speculation) he pulls off a series of "triumphs" over the next year, he's already lost his fan base. His triumphs will never restore his poll numbers to level they were before. This principle especially holds true for opinions formed after a long mutual relationship. Maybe in the first few weeks of meeting someone, your opinion of them can swing wildly up and down. But after six years, if your opinion settles on a low level, it's certain that that low opinion is based on six years experience, and is therefore pretty much set in stone. Diagnosis: Duckus Lamensis.

226 "205 Why haven't I seen an RNC commercial listing all the people who spoke out against Obama or Obamacare, or who spoke out in support of Republicans, and who then within two weeks or so received a letter from the IRS saying they were being audited? A black and white commercial with no sound. RNC = morons. Posted by: Me at December 10, 2013 05:46 PM (yhJhK)" Almost answers itself, doesn't it.

228 "208 At this point, I think that Obama could start opening up gas chambers and sending all white men over the age of 50 there, and there would be no real blowback. They may say they disapprove, but here's the line I hear: "Personally, he seems like such a nice person." So.. as long as the media has their lips on his d*ck, he's Teflon baby. Even in bed with a live boy, dead girl and two live sheep. Posted by: shibumi at December 10, 2013 05:47 PM (25HWz)" 300,000 babies a year. And no one really gives a fuck. Because they're all "undesirable/unwanted."

She dresses like a party animal at a memorial MOH ceremony for an American soldier. How come she didn't wear a perky cocktail dress to the Mandela shindig?

I think Venezuela is the wave of the future as far as dictatorships go. Chavez kept all the trappings of democracy and had "free" elections where he'd get 52% of the vote or such. None of that 99% that Stalin and Castro claimed.

He also died a billionaire. But lets not talk about that.

235 "218 " I loved the selfies. And someone remarked that Mooch then swapped seats with O'Dumbass in order to separate him from the friendly blond. Mooch was NOT impressed. --- Mooch hates attractive white women. Ever seen the picture of her glaring at French First Lady Carla Bruni from around 2009?" Look at the photos on Twtichy, she is sitting on the outside of the row when Obama is yukking it up and taking selfies with the blond and Cameron. Then suddenly she is sitting between them, scowling, and he is leaning forward, having been properly chastised and put in his place. I think our prez is concerned that Miley Cyrus WILL get that cover of Time if he doesn't do something to out-Miley her. I'm waiting for him to moon the crowd. I will actually give Michelle credit for trying to stop the partying going on in the seats next to her, at a world stage funeral. She, at least, has some manners, even if they are questionalby sincere. Posted by: Jen at December 10, 2013 05:51 PM (CpPkO)" So does Obama. Later, all. God bless. :-)

238 If 85% approval amongst blacks is not the clearest case of blatant racism in our time I don't know what is.  There cannot possibly be any reason for such a high approval other than the color of his skin.

That being said, if Obama were a white man, like Bush, his approval rating would likely be high 20's.

Assuming this poll wildly oversampled Democrats, Obama is in real trouble here.

242 Ace!

It is time for you to do your profound thing and write a great piece on cascade preference as only you can explain it.

I'm serious Man.

We need a plurality something fierce, but event more important, folks got to understand what it is, understand they are not alone.

This fucking statist divide and conquer bullshit is getting really old.

If we is going to win against the motherfuckers we got to create a crisis of legitimacy they can never recover from. I'm talking grass roots preference. A plurality Man. The catastrophy of cascade preference. That is the root of winning. It is the moral high ground, it is culture upstream of politics Brother. People got to know they are not alone.
It only takes a plurality to win!
