— Ace All this column is missing is a noose and white sheets.
Where is Casey Stengel when we need him? In 1962, as the manager of the brand new and determinedly hapless New York Mets — 40 wins, 120 losses — he looked up and down his bench one dismal day and wondered, “Can’t anybody here play this game?” That phrase kept coming at me recently as I watched the impressively inept performance of the Obama administration in both foreign and domestic policy. On a given day, this administration makes the ’62 Mets look good. This is a surprise — at least to me. If Barack Obama has an image, it is of the infinitely cool, cerebral leader. The man can give a rousing speech, but he is, at heart, a planner and a plodder. Both of his presidential campaigns were exercises in micromanagement — digital all the way. Obama was the better candidate, but he had, by far, the better organization.
"If Barack Obama has an image..." Let's pause to consider the absurdity of that.
Where did this image come from? Did Obama have serious academic or business credentials? Did he have a long history as a hands-on, details-oriented problem-fixer?
No, none of these things. He was smart because he wore the Tribal Feathers of the self-styled intelligentsia, and the media praised him for his trouser creases.
Then they further decided that anyone who considered themselves part of the media's class -- the self-styled (but in fact not) intelligentsia -- must be super-competent at all things, because the media considers itself super-competent at all things, and has scarce little modesty about offering hard (but disguised) opinions on every aspect of policy, including in those areas in which they are painfully unqualified to offer much of an opinion at all.
Cohen then discusses Obama's wavering, weaving Syria non-policy, which I'll skip, and gets to ObamaCare:
The debacle of the Affordable Care Act’s Web site raised similar questions about confidence. This was supposed to be Obama’s Big Deal. The president has other accomplishments — navigating out of the Great Recession was no minor feat — but restoring the status quo does not get your face on Mount Rushmore. It takes achievement, a program — something new and wonderful. The Affordable Care Act was supposed to be it.Something went wrong. People could not sign up. Why? Not sure. Who’s at fault? Apparently no one. An act of God. Something that could never have been foreseen. Another president might have had someone in the White House calling every day — no, twice a day — to make sure the program was going to work. But no, it was a shock to everyone, and when the White House rolled out its gigantic cake — maestro, some music please — no one jumped out.
Pathetic.
Obama's a Gen Xer (I think -- perhaps a late Baby Boomer) but he has the psychological profile of the worst of the Millennials, overconfident and underskilled, over-impressed with himself and under-achieving.
Related: The Wall Street Journal recounts President Me-Time's antagonistic relationship with hard work. The article includes a lot of golf.
I repeat Valerie Jarrett's would-be praise of Obama: "He's been bored as hell his own life." "He can't do the things ordinary people do."

Not saying I think Obama is anything other than a glib intellectual mediocrity, but this isn't really a very rigorous measure. (And I'd love it to be, believe me.)

He's not a fucking planner. Not a shred of evidence to that. If there were any management in his campaign that goof had nothing to do with. The HC bill was a last minute addition to a campaign speech. The Journolisters already admitted to that!
Note that the asshole thinks micromanagement is a positive concept. It's not! It means you don't know what your responsibilities are and you aren't a manager.

Well unless she deviates from this .PDF of her prepared testimony for tomorrow that I'm currently reading, that's exactly what she's going to do.
Choice excerpt (again courtesy of Allah): Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will tell a House committee tomorrow the site's botched rollout was the result of contractors failing to live up to expectations - not bad management at HHS, as the contractors suggested
"CMS has a track records of successfully overseeing the many contractors our programs depend on to function. Unfortunately, a subset of those contracts for HealthCare.gov have not met expectations."

As some here may know, I teach at a univ. I have a kid in my class, "overachiever," HS kid taking freshman-level college courses (he hasn't graduated from HS yet).
Most disrespectful little sonofabitch I've ever had the displeasure to instruct. I pushed 2K+ kids through basic training and I've had about 450 in my univ classes over the years. This little self-entitled nitwit is the worst of all of them. Arrogant. Stupid (he's got a solid C- in my class), disruptive, annoying.
He actually had the cajones to approach me after class a couple weeks ago and whine that this is the only class he's notgetting an "A" in. He asked what he should do. I said "come to class and get the answers on the homework and exams right."
He looked at me like I just grew another arm.

This is the narrative about Obama I hear all the time now from my leftist relatives forced to deal with his failure. It's never that he's the radical, Alinsky apostle dedicated to crashing the system. It's that he's an attenuated and timorous "Neville Chamberlain," too cautious, too beholden to evil fat rich white men. These people simply cannot face who he is because that would mean facing the truth and failure of of radicalism.

No he's not.
Mr. Obama is self-absorbed, underwhelming, unskilled, has no identifiable talent beyond purveying meaningless rhetoric and does not execute on anything without corrupting the auspices of constitutional government to force citizens to comply with his dictates.
What has he created? The worst string of economic collapse and wealth dilution in our history, historic levels of unemployment, the highest level ever of people forced out of the job market, record levels of entitlement spending, record numbers of businesses failing, destruction of the health care system and God knows what else.
Maybe all that's popular with young people with no real life experience or other who suck the teet of government to get by, but it's not sustainable and ultimately destructive.
Beyond that, as someone who told us he would "slow the rise of the oceans" he's more appropriately "backed up the sewer".
We have never been so divided as a nation and at each other's throats. There is no brotherhood, only deep divisions sown by Obama's words, actions or the lack thereof.
That's not racist. It's base truth.

The posts are flying fast around here today.
What may be happening here is that all of those people who carried water for and argued for ObamaScare are watching the Charlie Foxtrot right now and what they are feeling is anger and humiliation.
Anger and humiliation. They put their names, their reputations on the line, they went to bat for this again and again. They did everything they could. They believed. And this ObamaScare smoldering wreck amounts to a betrayal. That is going to be sinking through. I wonder if they will be able to muster the will to close ranks any longer in the face of this?

This is what my sister deals with constantly:

Kid comes to my sister and says: "What do I have to do to pass this class? Cuz I've gotta pass this class to get into XYZ class. Can I do extra credit?"

This why a theater major thinks she knows what the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration ought to do. Because she thinks all of the correct thoughts and emotes the proper feelings.

Richard Cohen has always seemed to me to be a few sandwiches shy of a picnic. He's the fellow who wrote a WaPo column a year or two back about being out riding on his bicycle when he had some sort of semi-religious epiphany about how wonderful The Lightworker.
And of course he's married to Katrina VanHeuvel (or some spelling like that) who is a big newshen over at The Nation, or NPR.
In short Richard Cohen has been sheepdipped in libtard shit for all his life. And now he goes full KKK on the black man in the White House? There's big trouble right there in Potomac River City.

There is no calculus on the SAT. (Not unless they've added it since I took it, at least.) There is algebra, order of operations, stats & probability, and geometry. Much of it quite tricky near the end. But no calculus.
The quantitive stuff was always my weaker area. The verbal was easy. Perfect score on both the PSAT and SAT. Did a bit worse on the quant. There's a reason I became an attorney and not an engineer. (My dad, a physicist, was disappointed.)

He didn't write his most famous book, he didn't do anything as the HLR "editor," he didn't do much of anything but fall into the company of the right Alinskites about him at the right time. He sure didn't learn anything as a Constitutional law adjunct. At most, I guess he's charismatic in person. If I met him at a party and didn't know who he was and what he'd done, I guess I'd walk away thinking, "Well, I guess he's kind of a pleasant guy..."
I've honestly been thinking hard about his "accomplishments" and really all I can come up with is 1) he didn't fuck up the bin Laden raid, by dint of not being around to stop it 2) If you are pro-gay agenda, DADT was stopped. But that of course is dubious.

184I had an interview with Arthur Andersen after I got out of grad school. He asked my what my SAT was. I asked if he was serious, as I took it as a sophomore in high school, and had a bachelors, masters, GMAT, GRE and LSAT to look at. He said no, he was serious. I told him that it was clear that I could never work for someone who was that anal, and ended the interview to his surprise.
---
When was this interview? 80s? 90s? 2000 or 2001?
I ask because one of my college classmates had a guaranteed job from Andersen going into her senior year, having interned for them over the Summer. Then Enron happened.
She still got picked up by Reliant, where she'd been doing her internship for Andersen, but it was a big example of how quickly the winds of change can get you.

I was also born in 1961, a few months older than the President. I don't think the labels 'baby boomer' or 'generation X' or whatever really apply to our age group: too young to serve in Vietnam yet old enough to remember with horror things like leisure suits and disco. I also think these generational labels are misleading, although 'baby boomer' does actually describe a demographic/socioeconomic phenomenon; i.e., the baby boom of the post-WWII era.

I have a family full of them. Most haven't a lick of common sense. I really don't care if they are studying arcane linguistics in elementary school, or doing string theory in middle school. If they can't remember to flush the toilet when they are done using it, or bathe, or brush their teeth, then they don't deserve to flourish in society.
And they don't. One kid has a doctorate and is living with his equally useless Mensa parents. My sister hasn't washed her frizzy, blond to gray disgusting mat of hair in 10 years, let alone cut it. Her husband refuses to wear shoes, anywhere, which means this summer he walked barefoot through goose shit and then came home and walked all around my parents' house without washing.

i don't think he micromanages either. He barely manages, period, never mind "micro."
I expect that heÂ’s a helicopter micromanager. Completely unavailable when needed to make big decisions, then helicopters in at the worst possible time to offer inane directives on the little ones.

Nah, more like a seagull micromanager.

I could join also.

The proudest I've ever been regard to test taking was passing the Louisiana Real Estate test on the first try when I was 20 years old (trying to pad my college resume) . Average was three tries before passing. It was a combo of Common Law and Napoleonic property law. It was also multiple choice of the A,B,C,D type with the added selection of A and C or B and D or none of the above.
I learned that other states had tests that fifth graders could pass and my license meant nothing as an accomplishment outside of Louisiana.

Heh.
Not to mention pulling out half the trash in the dumpster and flinging it about while going for the fries.

I don't think Obama is really that smart (all of his ideas are decades old and he has no ability to learn from mistakes or new information). It's just that he's been told he's the smartest, bestest, most special snowflake all his life and so he believes it. It helps that people like Jarrett have latched on to him because of his Chauncey Gardner-like skill at saying such vague things that everyone thinks he agrees with him, and he's got the whole "compelling life story" stuff that makes people feel good about supporting him. She's likely protected him from people who might reveal his true shallow, unintelligent self.

218 Ah. The Baby Boomers, the generation that voted for McCain and Romney, the generation that was NOT entranced with the Lightworker? Gen Xers, OTOH, those "cynical" sophisticates, fell for him like a ton of bricks.
I think you have your generations confused. It was the Millenials, the GenYers who voted overwhelmingly for Obama. The spread between the Boomers and GenX was only about 5 points. In any event, I was referring more to the general characteristics which defined each generation, specifically the hardcore leftist activism of young Boomers and Obama's role in continuation of such. GenX has no such history.

He's an Affirmative Action Hire.
The Democrat/Liberals know that. It's why any criticism is met with cries of "Racist" or "Racism".
Since he was elected because of his color it seems logical that people no don't like him because of his color.
It's all he's ever had going for him. (other than a lucky streak that has the Universe coming unbalanced)

People who claim someone born in the '60's is a Boomer.
BZZZZZZZ WRONG!!!
I know a lot of liberal wonks out there like to say this but the term "Baby Boomer" refers to the off spring that were birthed immediately after those who went to war came back home and started ckufing their brains out.
Tops it applies to someone born no later than 52-56 (to allow for those that went to college before having a family)
So enough with the '60's babies being boomers.
And take a look at any birth graph and you'll see that births start declining back to normal levels about that time also.
