Rand Paul Now Assisting in Cruz's Filibuster
— Ace

Reposting Gabe's link:

Flip over to CSPAN2 or their online digs to see Sen. Cruz speaking now.

Shock: NBC Reporter offers non-sequitor snark at Ted Cruz. This makes no sense.

7 They will win even if they lose. And I think conservatives will win even if they lose. Obamacare is still being debated in this country. It has not been fully implemented yet. Until that time comes there is hope.

Even though we might lose, putting up a fight is worth its weight in gold.

Does the left ever stop fighting?  Do they ever back down?  No, they do not.  Every "compromise" is a trap taking us further down the path to socialism.

12 My only beef is I think we should shut down the government. I'm sure most here would agree.

14 Just got an email from my congressman, ( Joe Barton, TX ) with a poll asking how I felt about a possible government shutdown over O-care.

Of course I replied to shut the F-er down!  (  I'm sure Allen G. will add the ashes and scatter part  )

25 I no longer use the plural first person pronoun of "We" when speaking of the GOP.

As a free agent, I speak of the Dems and GOP in the plural pronoun of "They"

They have shown through their actions that the feeling is mutual when applied to those outside of the Beltway

Posted by: kbdabear at September 24, 2013 01:43 PM (/9IC1)

26 @21. Right. Ted Cruz may not have fully supported rands ideas on drones. Still he supported him. Because it was just about drones. It was about standing up to an imperial presidency. Why can't every GOP senator go up right now and at least support Cruz here by denouncing obamacare. It's a free plug.

Can't the house pass a CR that authorizes spending for the military and parks and stuff (the fuzzy stuff everyone likes) but shuts down the rest of spending?

It seems like if that were on the senate's doorstep it would be hard to spin it was the republicans fault things shut down.

35 Reposting my thoughts, such as they are, from the dead end of the last thread:

Was the guy standing in front of that row of tanks in Tiaminan Square making an ineffectual, futile gesture? Based on his final results, sure, as he got Rachel Corried. But he stopped them for a while, and got a lot of attention, and the Chinese have been a bit more sensitive to the will of the people.

Does what Cruz is doing advance his career? Sure. Is it strictly grandstanding, or an honest expression of his opposition? No one knows that for sure, but a fair guess would be a bit of both.

If what he is doing gives House Rs a little more backbone, where the real battle is being fought, isn't that a win on its own? One battle does not, in general, determine a war. At least he is battling.

38 Mrs. Pelosi should be denied Communion until she changes her advocacy views on abortion, Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke said, according to the Western Center for Journalism.

That’s canon law, not opinion, he said. Canon 915 states that Catholics who are stubbornly contrary “in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.”

That's fine, but let's see how this plays out on the local level. Let's see a priest actually enforce this.

Or maybe Pelosi never goes to Mass, so there's no opportunity.
